  • In this video, I show you my beautiful 1910 Singer 127-3. She's 109 years old, just in case you don't want to do the math! I did fail to mention that she does take special needles, which you can get online, or from your local Singer man. My Singer man is in his eighties, and has been working on Singers for 55 years!

    It is nice that her decals are worn. To me it means she has been well loved. Just love the sound of the old machines. Wish we were closer, would love to get one for my granddaughter.

    My daughter bought a house and the previous owners left a vintage sewing machine behind, we didn’t know that you could still get parts for them, I’ll have to tell her. It will be fun putting her back together.

    Thanks for the thorough vlog on this machine and especially for sharing where to buy the parts. I paused the vlog, went to the website, and purchased the hand crank and thread pin for my reproduction version. I would have gotten the electric motor also but it was sold out. I'm sure you'll be able to sell her quickly but I think it's gonna be hard for you to let her go. Now I want to see all your sewing machines.

    We're cleaning out the apartment we just rented...the previous tenant went to jail/evicted so everything was left....and i found this exact machine in 1 of the upstairs bedroom closets and there was also a sewing machine table in the hallway with another vintage machine but it's not Singer. Let's just say this girl is happy to clean someone else's mess for once! Lol.

I haven't tried to use it though as I think something might be missing 😖. It's lovely to have it in my sewing room though 😉. The quote...."they don't make them like this anymore" comes to mind 😋😁😘

      Well, Sally, do you know what model it is? If it's a Singer, it can be put to rights. If it's not, it can probably be put to rights, but with a lot more effort. In the meantime, they do make good company and are excellent listeners.

    J'ai la chance de posséder une 127 ayant appartenu à ma grand mère. Je confirme tout ce qui a été dit, c'est une excellente machine. Ceux qui ont eu la chance d'en posséder une doutent des soit disant progrès des machines modernes. C'est une machine très simple à utiliser, il n'y a aucun réglage sauf la tension du fil supérieur. On est surpris de constater qu'elle pique droit alors que les machines modernes ont tendance à coudre à droite ou à gauche, il faut bien maintenir le tissus & ça va quand même de travers. Cette machine fait peu de bruit. Ça na l'air de rien mais cela rends la couture beaucoup plus agréable. Enfin, contrairement aux machine modernes bas de gamme capricieuses ou le fil casse tout le temps. Ou on est toujours les mains dans le cambouis à enfiler le fil, changer la cannette bref faire mille choses sauf coudre. Cette vieille machine couds, le fil ne casse pratiquement jamais. Les mains sont rarement dans le cambouis ce qui fait dire qu'il y a d'un côté des machines "aux milles possibilités" mais de l'autre, il y a celles qui font réellement le JOB comme la 127.

    Beautiful! I have been in search of a feather weight for a while now but have not been willing to pay the price asked on the machines I have seen. 😏 I also want to find a flat top treadle.
    Exactly how many machines do you own? I have six, but only one is an antique. The others are just "old".

    • @StayStitching
      @StayStitching  5 років тому +1

      I think I have about 25. I have four modern machines, one I could let go of. I love my Faetherweight, she's a keeper! Don't pay more than $300, and that's with her box and at least some of her goodies. You can find them for that price, you just have to be vigilant.

    There's another way to secure stitching. Make a few stitches, release presser foot and push work through a tiny bit. Then return work back to first stitch and lower foot. Carry on stitching as normal. This means you have overstitched the start and it is secure.
    Repeat this process at the end.

    • @purpy102
      @purpy102 4 роки тому

      Marian,
      You might need to clean your shuttle or sometimes the thread has worn a groove in the spring and then you need to find another. Lint collects under the spring on the side of the shuttle, also there could be rust. Find the right size screw driver and remove the screw and clean it all out and then polish with Mother's Mag polish using a soft scrap of tee shirt..
