Congratulations! MIT and Yale are two polars on the scale, Princeton falls in between nicely. I think you are too good for many schools to accept you for reasons of yield protection. I like Georgia tech because they saw you were good and wanted to have you. Did George tech offer you scholarship?
Congrats!!! A lot thanks for great encouragement to me! It’s so precious to see people from the same ethic get access to my dream school. Your video means a lot! And it will be super great if you keep making video in college!
Randomly saw this on my recommended so it looks like the UA-cam algorithm is doing wonders! I already graduated from college but seeing this video all the way through was inspirational, especially your closing remarks. I commuted to school but realized that it wasn’t best experience and that I could do more. I’ve been thinking about going back to school for CS or DS and funny enough, your video helped me decide if I should bite the bullet… and I decided that I’m going to apply to more well schools, such as Stevens! But yeah seems like you already know how important it is work for yourself and not for someone/something else. That’s something that took a long time for me to understand! Good luck at Princeton! Hope to see a day in the life video one day!
Congrats bro, give yourself a lot of credit man! You're a very smart, hardworking man but don't forget to have fun! Love your content. I can only see you being successful in the near future. Cheers!
Congrats brother, may your robotic dream come true I am also writing my essays so your video really helped me Please make a video on your own essays application process
Hello Derek, I'm currently an asian freshman aiming for MIT and majoring in computer science, just like you. I want to know your stats so I can rethink whether or not MIT is possible for an asian cs major like me. Could you please make a stats/EC video? I would really appreciate it. Also, congratulations on Princeton! If you want, you could also post another video that explains your first year at Princeton. I hope you have a great time at Princeton, and I also hope you make a stats/ECs video for all the cs majors out there!
My first guess is either the high emphasis on the school being unsafe, in my experience everything is fine but I'm living north of campus. The other thing I could think of is that for CS majors courses focus more on theory. Another deterence could be the course work, and within some majors it can be really competitive. Grade inflation and tough curves are definitely present and common for tougher courses. The last thing I could think of is some past protests that had been held afaik over 4 years ago. While the campus is known for protests, the ones I'm referring to were pretty bad. Students would block the main access to the northern side of campus for anyone who was white or asian, and marched to one of the libraries to continue protesting for safe spaces. Students who wanted to cross to the north side either had to go an alternative route or cross strawberry creek. I recall the phrase "this isn't about you this is about whiteness" being something a lot of students were told when attempting to reason with protestors. There could be other reasons but if I had to guess one of these could be what he was referring to. All things aside there will be good and bad experiences anywhere and while it might be too early to form my own opinion some of the ppl I've met here definitely love the decision they made. Personally for me the pros of attending greatly outweighed the cons when it came to choosing with the campus and aid covering nearly everything. So far I'd say this was the right choice for me and haven't ran into any of the bad things I've listed thus far.
@@angelsaavedra633 honestly I wouldn't take just one person's word for it and look into everything I mentioned on other sources. And do keep in mind tough curves and grade deflation is something that's very prominent in a lot of the the more competitive colleges. I'll also add to take into account your reasons for attending college before choosing. Part of the reason I chose berkeley was because it was the only public school that offered lots of opportunities in paleontology and sure enough I'm already on two research projects in my first semester. And to restate, difficulty will vary based on your major. My first midterm here, while a time crunch, was very very easy. But the most important thing about college is making the choice you'll be happiest with, whether that's at an ivy league, UC, community college, or not attending at all.
You are better than MIT. Asians should understand that they are the most disadvantaged when it comes to college admissions. You have to be twice as good to get in.
OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!! You should be really proud of yourself
Thank you so much!

Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately i didn’t receive any aid for GaTech, but the tuition there is still considerably cheaper than pton
Congrats man what king of courses you took and GPA and Act scores were to get in colleges of that magnitude?

Our class was one of the hardest statistically to get into schools. Thanks Covid. Northeastern had like 91,000 applicants for like 6000 spots.
i'm applying this year and i think that test optional is the stupidest thing ever, it allows too many ppl to apply imo

Oh, my goodness. I've only read the title, but it's already clear you're very studious. Computer Science is difficult and competitive.

What did you find out about Berkley that made it not worth it? I am wondering since I'm considering Berkley
