Makes me want to cry thinking how fantastic times were back then. It's hell on earth right now today and it sucks.
I'm not sure we totally understood just how talented these guys were at the time.
So true. And Tears for Fears.
Spot on! I think the MTV videos caused that with all the silliness. It made us look at them, and other talented performers, as less than serious. But as in all...time reveals the truth.
Speak for yourself. Lol. I knew they were rock Gods!
I know that I sure did!
Love,
A Lifelong Duranie
You act like 80’s teens are the only ones who are Duran fans. Lol
For those of us who are Gen X, the music of the '80s is such a large part of our shared language. "Save a Prayer" still has some of Le Bon's best poetry.
By far the best decade of music.
Seems like Boomers and Gen Xers "get it" when it comes to REAL music. The 80s rocked. My favorite decade and my best life occurred in that decade.

From a 54 year old metal head, I have but one word.....RESPECT!!!
People like to put labels on genres on taste and judge what speaks to you- cool, do what you need to do - they're missing the point - if you like it and it makes you feel good that's what matters. Own being a metal head that likes what you like. 😊
Compared to today’s lame poser rock bands, Duran Duran sounds like a highly skilled legit rock band nowadays, despite being a pop band back in the 80s. None of todays music rock anymore..its all lame instagram versions of the real thing. I’m also an old metalhead… megadeth, pantera, black sabbath, dio, old queensryche, even type o negative, daylight dies (the metal band, not the pop band), nordic gloom metal like katatonia etc.. you name it. Rock on!
Chino Moreno Deftones singer influenced by Duran Duran.
I didn't think a metal head would get duran duran, one word from me to you....respect! peace.
So you ain't a metal head your a music lover I av been a punk hip hop soul reggae 70s to nowadays I couldn't class myself and I love it that way I can enjoy every music that is in the moment and this is classic 🤟🎶❤
Holy crap Simon’s voice sounds amazing! Loved this song since I was a kid, something haunting about it.
Exactly!! His voice was phenomenal on this show. I watched it on PBS. I had no idea!!!
Yes I Agree 100%❤️❤️❤️
Love the Sing A Long…😊😊😊
Incredible performance! Simon Le Bon still sound great, like going back in time!
i agree with you! There is something different in this song...
They are talented, not just a flash from the 80's.
That song really takes me back,, great times back then. If you were there and the right age, you get it.
Simon still has it. He can still hit the note.
To the times when equality meant nothing and racism was at an all time high. Yeah lets go back to that...NOT!
@@Me-qp8vz give me a break...just step away from CNN!!
@@Me-qp8vz I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, not just back then, but any time.
I had some very good times and very bad times back then.
Peace
@@Me-qp8vz OH FFS will you people just crawl under a rock, this is a music video,, it's not anything more but remembering our time
@@Me-qp8vz You obviously did not grow up in that time period…Sorry, it was a more carefree era and not so “woke” and full of crybabies that got their feelings hurt.
They're still putting it down tough.
Fuck yeah, I'm proud of them and to have grown up with them.
Peace out, GenX in the house.
GenX also. I agree 100% with you.
Same here...been down since Planet Earth on MTV with Martha Quinn and JJ

They are gorgeous.Simon still singing beautifully. My teenage revived whenever I hear Duran Duran🤩🎼😍
Agree 100% his voice has continued to be incredible after all these years. Funny how Music is so powerful you hear something and it’s like a time machine right back to a day before
I hear this song and trans ported to 1984. In a small middle class family from east Tennessee We didn’t have MTV at my house. Laying in my bedroom listening to the cassette player of Duran Duran. I would love to talk to my self at ten years old explain how important music is. I miss when music was good. I miss the 80’s
How times change!. 40 years ago it would have been cigarette lighters. Now it's the flashlights on their cell phones! Still a classic song from the ultimate pop band EVER! It's 1982 all over again!
I was thinking that so many burned thumbs. 🔥
Rio was just an incredible record. So many different moods....and Simon still has his pipes. Damn!
I am old now. This song was a go-to to calm my mind and have a positive outlook on life in my late teens. Still a beautiful song.
It reminds me so much of back then.
This was early teens for me.
🙏✌️
Amen. I can feel my youth when I hear this song.
Saw them in 1984...hard to believe. And they still deliver.
The same for me, way back in my early 20’s dreaming of a beautiful future…for everyone.👍
@@Poeme340 ✌️👍🙏 Good memories.
DURANIE FOR LIFE!!! After 40 years they're finally being inducted to the ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!!😭💜🌎🐍🐯🐺🌕💃🍒🍨🎆⛵🎶🎙🎹🎸🥁🎷😍
Boy o boy did I underestimate the greatness of this band “back in the day”.
I cannot believe how unchanged Simon's voice is from the 80's. WOW! He sounds just like the record still. Kudos to him and the rest of the band -- solid as ever!!
*Holds up lighter, old-school-style*
STILL a magnificent song after all these years.
When I hear the synthesizer in the beginning I know I'm in for a thrill! OMG such a DD fan back in the day at 70 years of age I still am! 5:19 Simon still has it! 💛 Best song ever this century
They look and sound FABULOUS!!!
For sure, for sure.
Seems like they all took care of themselves. They look great!
Duran Duran was considered to be the Beatles of the '80s.
60 is the new 40
*John Taylor* has GOT to be one of the *Top Bass Players Of All Time*
Agreed. The bass on Rio blows me away every time I hear it.
I saw these guys about 37 years ago performing this song
mtv was so special back then. These guy's videos were transporters.
Proof positive that true perfection doesn't fade. They sound as amazing as they ever did. I know. I lived it the first time around.
Dang, Simon's vocals are still killing it. Blast from my past for sure.
Sounds fantastic, his voice sounds just like it did so many years ago.
Wow! Is this just recently!!!! Hell yes!!!! This song got me through my younger years
This song is absolutely ageless. It blows me away just as much today as when I heard it the first time in the 80’s MASTERPIECE
OMG I Wish I was there !
Amazing. Confidence personified. His voice is magical.
1985: Lighters
2022: Cellphone flashlights
Wow!! This band sounds the same as they did in the 1990's.. Awesome performance!!
I think too
Holy fuckn shit!!!! I'm an 80s kid. Loved it all! Rock, pop, new age, alt., metal, you name it. But the old rock stars have long lost their ability to do what they once could. NOT DURAN DURAN! HOLY SHIT! ..amazing
every duran's song is a wonderful moment of our life
Awesome still sound Great
They put it down.
My Fav of all times…DDfan4ever
I am absolutely DUMBSTRUCK by how outstanding this performance was.... all these years later. Just amazed.
By far one of the greatest bands to emerge out of the 80's....they still sound live exactly like their albums....just listen to Ordinary World from this same show at Austin City Limits.....simple perfection..!!
I was not born yet in the 80's but this is one of my fave songs in the whole world❤ incredible performers! incredible musicians! I love Duran Duran and Idc what anybody says
Love Duran Duran, I first saw them at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, MO 2/16/1984. They put on a great show, , I hope they tour and have date in K.C. sometime soon.
His voice is holding up really well, great songs stand the test of time, and this is one.
still a fricken amazing voice after all these years
(Looks around comment section) *”THESE ARE MY PEOPLE!”*
....
more than just a pop ballad and always more than what you thought.
I’m a 55 year who just became 15 again. I literally started tearing up.
When I was at live aid I was 15 years old and these guys came out and played live I was in the crowd with 100,000 people they blew my mind! I was a fan for life! They are the truth!
Its like they were kept in a time capsule. They sound GREAT and they are coming to town finally!
They sound GREAT , so many years later. GREAT song.
Love DD and the great music they are still making. Drove 11 hours to see them in Austin!
John Taylor is so great in this song too. His bass playing is not talked about enough in this song. Not to mention Nick, Dom and Roger! It's not just about Simon although he's still amazing!
John Taylor is an amazing bass player..
@@kenwilliams9539 Nick was my hardcore crush and always will be. He is an integral part of them bands sound. That said, play that fucking bass John! Had the pleasure of meeting him a long time ago. So kind and sweet; great memory that stays with me to this day.
God how I love this song. Early 80s discovered this song on the Rio album. A fan since then.. Oh such Happy Times.🙂
Play that fukin bass John!!!
@@katemarr1984 yes Nik Rhodes. My crush too. ❤️🔥of the band I always thought. This song would no be this song wo the little keyboard tremolo.
I saw Duran Duran live in 84’. I wasn’t a huge Duranie but my friend was. I love them now, I wish I’d have taken the time to memorize every moment of that concert.
They've still got "it"... It really is stunning how long these guys have consistently created incredible music. Can't wait to see them in 10 days in Phoenix!
Best live version of this tune. ❤
Duran Duran are in top shape and this song has aged very well.
Simon can still sing, DD still can perform
Many good memories when I hear this. Days were so care free. I want to go back....
*Time travels back to Duran Duran concert in 1984, tells people holding up lighters during Save A Prayer that in the future during this song everyone will hold up their personal phones with the flashlights on...Weird right?
Wow, the boys still sound great after all these years.
ESPETACULAR!!! VIVA DURAN DURAN!!! ETERNO!!
One of the handful of bands I’d still pay to see today..
This song is so beautiful it really moves me. The video is so very beautiful . This bring back some happy summer school holiday 38 years ago. I do hope they play this at Hyde park 2022 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏seeing love and peace to everyone in the world 🌎 ❤ 💕 ♥ 💜
One of my favorite things at the band's shows is to turn around, at the beginning of Save A Prayer, and see all the lights in the crowd...it's always so cool and beautiful. Kind of makes your heart skip a bit...feeling that connected to all the other fans.
Beautiful vision you gave me. Thank you

WOW! Duran Duran has stood the test of time. Still killin it!
Absolutely fantastic!!! Simon's voice is exquisite, all are on point & the crowd are loving it... How rightly so!! We've been fans since 1981, they have never failed to disappoint... We love you Duran Duran, 💜 😎 🔥
Duran Duran emerged from the disco era. They eventually evolved into more of a rock sound, but their roots were in disco.
Save a prayer til' the morning after in a good ole Texas drawl...The Moody Theater has great acoustics...Well done by Duran Duran...Best vocal perfomance I have heard live from this tune...😉👏🤠
Most bands pitch down to accommodate the lead singers aging vocal range; Duran Duran didn’t succumb to it. Ridiculously good show and proud of all of them!
Right? How in the hell is this possible?! Simon’s voice is spot on and still amazing. He aged, his voice didn’t!
A lot of it has to do with not smoking and not over touring and staying healthy. Also keep in mind Simon isn't doing songs that hurt his voice . Take Paul Stanley from Kiss, he did a lot of songs that pushed his range and a lot of touring. Now his voice isn't sounding good.
80's the best!!!
La guitarra que brilla
Inmaculada.
Watched the entire show on PBS - excellent stuff.
What a blast from the past!
They have been my favorite band since I was 13 years old. I’m 50 now! I haven’t seen them live in many years. Hope they do a US tour soon.
Wow they sound as good as they did in the 80's/90's. Amazing.
High school all the way up 2020... All the Hot chicks loved Duran Duran! I did too.
Brings back a lot of good memories of my youth in the 80's (makes me cry a little)
Que magníficos, fabulosa voz de Simon saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
They rock it pretty dam good still. Right on Duran Duran.
Wow so close to the original version, so many years after! Mr Lebon and the band still look good!
I am so glad they are still playing. Wish Andy was there to make it whole. They sound and look great. Still makes my heart go pitter pat.
Mariann…. Heck yeah me too.. loved AndyT in this band!! Miss him dearly!!!
@@mattmurdock7444 He'll be in L.A. in November, with them, when they go into the Hall! I'm hoping they'll have a Kum-bay-ah moment and he'll rejoin them ....

Okay, yes this is cryworthy. ♥️🎶
I seen them 1990s in Houston Texas, great concert. Simon Le Bon still sound great!
This song captivated me as a mid-teen. It had an ethereal atmosphere that many synth-pop outfits at the time didn’t quite achieve. And the video filmed in Sri Lanka was sublime. Great to see these guys still doing their thing and Le Bon’s voice hasn’t changed in 40 years. Well done.
Yes, the original video is gorgeous. I still love Duran Duran, even after all of these years. ❤️
Asa hard rock metal guy I always loved this band. Brilliant.
Super performance of this song! Simon, you still kill it along with your band mates to this day. My only wish is that Dom Brown gets the attention that he deserves. So happy to have grown with the band after all these years !!
Saw them at the AUSTIN CITY LIMITS FESTIVAL that same time of this recording. Amazing show!!
4:59 amazing backing vocals
i was lucky enough to see them at the festival last year and it was seriously one of the best shows of the whole year for me.
saw them four years ago at red rocks with Nile Rodgers. one of the very best shows I've ever seen in my life and i've seen loads including prince, who, stones, genesis, metallica, U2, rush, mayer, etc. i was absolutely blown away at the sound, musicianship, simon's voice - these guys are tremendously underrated as song-writers and musicians. it was their first visit to red rocks and i am so thankful i was there - one of my greatest concert memories.
Red Rocks is impossible to see a bad show there, most stunning stage
Unbelievable! How good are these guys?
Simon still sounds amazing 🤩
Duran Duran is the best then and still is now
saw them in the 80s and still very cool
They're STILL amazing!
As beautiful as they were when I saw them in concert in 83! 👍🥰
yeah, i also saw them in '83. Duranies, haha
Wonderfoul
Wow! just Saw them they sound FANTASTIC!!
Perfection ❤️❤️❤️
Saw them in 1984...hard to believe. And they still deliver.
Yay... thank you. It's been a rough week (month? Year?😂) and Duran Duran always make everything seem better. I usually see them every time they tour, but because of Covid and cancer I haven't been able to go to any of their recent shows...so videos like this are a treasure. Can't wait to watch the whole show tomorrow ☺️💙🐺
DURAN DURAN IS FANTASTIC!! GOOD VIBRATIONS FOR YOU AND ME!!
And you wanted to dance, so I ask you to dance,
but fear is in your soul, some people call it a one night stand, but we can call it Paradise......

Save it till the morning after. ..
God Bless You, my sister.
You're in my prayers Monica!! JOHN 3:16 forever!
