You can eliminate the squealing noise from the belt by replacing the brushroll with one that has the plastic pulley. These modes were when Oreck switched to a metal brush roll pulley and while it was good in some ways it proved to make the belts squeal prematurely. If you look at the inside of the belt you will notice a slight silvering or shine from the cheap metal used on the brush pulley. Actually you can write on paper with the brush pulley and see it actually leave a silver residue. Anyways. For years Oreck brushrolls has a plastic polymer pulley that did not allow this noise to happen until the near end of the belt life. When I use to sell these machines in my store I always switched out the brushrolls from the factory with the ones we ordered from Oreck direct with the plastic pulley version. This kept customers from coming in for repairs thinking something was wrong.
I've put this same brush roll into the Pro Plus II and it didn't make the squealing noise, so I didn't know why it made this squeal. And I always thought the plastic pulley brush rolls were for models with the enduralife synthetic belt.
Just came across one in decent shape except no motor on power up. Do I recall a overload reset button on prior units and where do I begin to get it running?
There is no overload reset button, the only known reasons why one of these won't turn on is either due to a short in a cord, power switch, or the motor is just plain dead.
I had a yellow that we got refurbished. I love it and the yellow was my favorite since they showed it in the infomercial.
I did like the red model in infomercial.
