We've chatted before after your video helped me learn about the NK300. I bought my motor in September 2023. The original Newport 36V40AH battery for my NK300 refused to draw down below 60% and my pedal drive got me out of the MRGO ship channel! Be persistent as Newport eventually sent me a replacement battery after at least a couple of months of emails. The new one seems to work fine. One additional note: I fish inshore in SE Louisiana - I can turn down a canal or bayou in the brackish marsh and see 3 alligators occasionally, and I almost always see at least one. I have never been approached by a gator and they go underwater when approached (except when on a bank guarding a nest). I even saw a giant one a couple of months ago that might have been over 15 ft long. I do carry my sidearm in my PFD pocket just in case, but I do not know of anyone in kayaks around here that has had issues with alligators. That being said, it is nice to zip away from them if needed at 6+ mph! Be safe out there!
Hahah. Yeah I sure hope I don’t ever see one. Haha. I also agree the 6 MOH to get out of there faster makes me feel better but I know a big one can swim faster than that. Hahha. The Newport Trolling motors are just a little rich for my blood, maybe before I retired but $2K is just not in my retired guy’s budget. Thankfully we don’t have to worry about outrunning an angry gator up here. Customer Service is as critical to customer satisfaction as is a good product, theirs sounds like it’s not so good. If I were to want to spend that kind of money, I would lean more towards a Bow mounted Motor Guide Xi3 with spot lock , that seems to be the choice of most of the Tournament anglers in my club. I am looking at a small transom mounted trolling motor the fits in the slot for my peddle drive. Newport makes a simple transom mount trolling motor that would fit in that spot with some modifications to the mounting bracket that would be easy to do but after hearing about their poor customer service I might lean towards the Minnkota C32 which is around the same price point of $140 bucks. Much more budget friendly if not as high tech ) Then there’s still a lithium $$ battery to account for. I think for now and for the benefit of my health I will stick to peddling until that becomes too hard to handle. Good video Sherlock. Have a blessed weekend.
Yes sir, I so agree, they have really let me down on this purchase. I will also say, one reason I leaned towards Newport over some of the others, is you could actually buy a battery from another maker, however, those 36 volt batteries are really high, dont matter which one you buy, I may not be in a big hurry to buy one. I have bought a 36 volt step down converter to use on the alum boat for lights etc, however sine the battery is dead, that is not needed now hahaha. I did have to purchase a new charger and the battery still will not charge, so I am un-aware of what the issue is, something wrong with the battery. If Newport does decide to help us since it is under the 5 year warranty, I will make a new video and let everyone know. Again, thank you all and have a blessed weekend. Dale

This is disappointing for sure. I have a nk 180 but I bought amped outdoors battery. Only because Newport didn’t have a battery at the time. I have had no problems. It’s not going to hurt them to do the right thing!!!!!
Yes sir, I have even reached out to them on FB, and still no results,. I agree, doing the right thing doesn't seam too hard to me either. I have found another company who makes the 36 volt battery and I can see myself needing to buy one of theirs. I hate to even say it, but at this point, I am sure the only way I will get it replaced, is out of pocket just like the battery charger I had to purchase.
