Its very pretty. These are perfect for bridesmaids especially for shorter dresses & a vintage bride dress. We are making clip fascinators for my daughter's bridemaids and we we've been looking for what she would wear. I'm going to show her this, she has short spikey hair and isnt lookng for a traditional veil.
REALLY?!?! A plastic lid??? Now that's what I call resourceful! U are a talent and I love the way your hat turned out. I don't even know how I got to your video, but I'm glad that I did! Keep up the great work.
Instead of an Easter bonnet parade this year, my daughters school is having a party to celebrate the royal wedding, which is soon approaching. So I have to make a hat, and you have just made my life 10 times easier.
Thank-you for your creative mind, and sharing it with us. ;-D
using a lid as a base for the whole fascinator is so clever! i would never think of that myself. thank you so much for putting this up here! :)
finally a video where i actually understand how to make this stuff....thanks a lot and great video
@aglanceatmyworld
OMG thank you so much for the idea of using an old bra! I realised i have a few paddings i pulled out of swim suits that i don't need and they'de make the perfect bases for a fascinator. You have no idea how happy i am. I just digged one out of my drawer! Plus it curves so it'll fit my head nicely! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK!
It's amazing what can be created with a glue gun, the lid of a butter tub and scraps/bits/baubles! Great tutorial!!! Thanks.
wow!! I never would have thought about using a plastic lid! I've been trying to find ways to make the fascinator base and when I saw your idea for the plastic lid I was totally amazed! I think I'd like to use a smaller lid! but either way, great idea!!!
thanks so much!
i just want to share how i made mine.... i made a simple fabric flower out of lace, put a button in its centre, then i got a hair clasp backing, glued some ribbon to it ( to make it a little pretty), glued my flower onto it, then once that was dry tucked a stem of feathers right up close to the edge of the flower, that was the second one i made, the first one was more a piece of round plastic that i then did the same as above but covered it with felt instead of ribbon, love my results easier2
Love this demo. Simple instructions, inexpensive materials and lovely end product. X
I used a circle that I cut out from a plate and made a little cone for the base
lol - never thought to use a butter container top - very creative!
Cute hat, I love how it came together at the end and I have tons of those lids laying around the house. Glue guns is there nothing they can't do.
This is really neat! I never would have thought to use a plastic lid! Great idea!! :)
Thought fascinator hat is sooooo hard to do, but it wasnt 😁
Thanks for this tutorial 👍👍
Great I need to make some money and will sew some fascinator hats The only thing I do note have is the elastic. You are an inspirationl
This was a great tutorial, just in time 2. I saved a plastic container and used the lid, right after i saw this vid, i went straigth to work, i didnt havenuff embelishments sew it kinda looks like it came from the medieval period, i have lace and tie backs hanging from this.
So the plastic lid she uses is called 'Blue Bonet" and she uses it to make whas essentially a blue bonett!.....(I do notice random things!)
Feel better! Awesome vid!
@bbyfrankenstein Awesome! I'm so glad that you loved the tutorial and thanks for subscribing :)
@MsRuthieDee Sure! You can use a shoulder pad (pull on out of an old shirt from the 80s!) they are already curved and will fit the head nicely. You can use a cup from an old bra (also already curved). Or anything else that you can think of :)
@TheCheekyoMonkeyz Thanks! I'm not sure that I'll wear mine either, but I kept seeing fascinators in the stores and wanted to have one :) and since it was free to make I'm not out anything.
LOL, that is great! I really liked it, now I know what to do with all my butter lids.
Thank you! I wanted an Easter hat, but my head is too big. Going with a fascinator, just came back from the fabric store. I will be using bra pads instead of a tub lid. Thank you for the tutorial
@Sparklingfaces Awesome! Glad you like it :)
@LoriHulstine Thank you :)
Banners with the baby's name sounds super cute! I can't wait to see them.
I did see car comment just haven't signed into that channel yet to leave a response. Thanks in advance for any info you have. My dad took the car to get the computer readouts checked but the guy said unless the 'check engine' light is on they can't get any info off it... That's all we've done so far so still don't know what the problem is or how to fix it.
@TheMychalRenee Hehe thanks :) I'm always for anything that cuts costs!
@Naimahveiled I have a video called 'Vintage Sewing Machine Haul' where I show some of my vintage machines...but I've gotten one or two new ones since then :)
I love it - will definately make one!

Always make things easy
@Sparklingfaces Heh thanks...I was literally sitting in my kitchen trying to figure out what to use and saw an empty butter container. So I grabbed the lid, washed it, and used it...hope Mom wasn't saving it for something...

Aww thank you! Let me know if you make one :)
Whitney Sews I definitely will!
@sam8ali That sounds like fun! Glad the tutorial helped :)
What a great job 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
great hat
This DARLING! My son just got married, and I have some satin left over from making my dress which is just a bit darker than the fabric you used here. My new grand-daughter was the maid-of-honour. She just turned 13. I think this would be a cute hat for a girl her age. So...do you think it would be something a very pretty 13-yr old would wear and would the satin from my dress be a good fabric for it? I know I have some quilting cottons that would be darling for this hat. Thank you. You are a very talented girl. Can't wait to see more projects.
Lovely. I love it
this is Awesome!
@chick256 Thanks :)

Love the video
Thank You very much you have helped me with my textiles project !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome! I'm so glad it was helpful :)
Could I accomplish this look with a headband or hair comb?
Love it!!! Im definitely going to try this tomorrow I have a roaring 20's party to attend Saturday now I don't have to go out a buy one... Thank you so much.... One question how or where did you get the thin elastic from?
+Cynthia Maddox Awesome! Glad the video was helpful. The elastic can be found at any store that sells fabric. It is usually with the sewing notions in a package, but sometimes is sold by the yard. If you can find it just ask an employee where the 1/4 or 1/8 elastic is and they will show you :)
+Whitney Sews thank you so much!!
I bought some at walmart in there ribbon section it is elastic ribbing with the lace.
Can you use something else besides the plastic?
brilliant~!!
I love it and will do it.
Bella Jae Awesome! Let me know how it turns out :)
Whitney Sews I will.
love it
@aglanceatmyworld That's like so amazing!
Hola me encanta tu máquina de coser
Thank you :)
very nice thanks.😀
whats the length of the elastic band and the size/length of the mesh net?
+Bussie1981 It depends on your head size. I have a very small head so the lengths I used wouldn't work for someone with a larger sized head. Just hold it up to you (or whoever it's for) and use the amount that looks and feels right. Sorry there is no exact number that works for everyone.
