@@SHMillinery Thank you for replying so fast! If I would like to use stiffiner what would you recomend? What if the placemat is made of plastic, what would you use then?
I really love this fab idea, I’m definitely going to try this. Do you use a specific supplier for the straw placemats? when I look they all seem to be made of polypropylene, not made of straw. Thank you 😊 x
Hi Sara, i've got a question here, but doesn't concern this tutorial. Is it possible to colour white feathers and change them into a different colour e.g red, green, blue etc?
Just made my first 2 placemat fascinators and I'm really chuffed with the outcome. I came across your channel by accident but I'm so glad I did.
Fab so pleased this worked for you 😀
I wanted to show you the finished hat but there's no option to add a photo. It's turned out amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills x
@alisonBeighton-ec9om I am glad this helped. You can always email me a pic, shmillinery@gmail.com xxxxxx
what a brilliant idea. I'll never look at those placemats with same amount of disinterest again.
I would have loved to see the finished product
the pictures at the beginning of the video show the finished hat, I am sorry the video cut short!
Completely Gorgeous! I would love to see more with these type placemats. My favorite hatmaker💖💖💖💖💖🙏🏼🌹

Love this idea! Do you need to use a stiffiner for it to keep the shape , and if so what would you recomend?
I didn't use any, as they are stiff enough
@@SHMillinery Thank you for replying so fast! If I would like to use stiffiner what would you recomend? What if the placemat is made of plastic, what would you use then?
@tlindfors9917 I would use any straw stiffener, but not on plastic as it is not absorbant so wouldn't work
@@SHMillinery Becuse I´m not sure if my placemat is made of straw or plastic.
Pretty awesome!!
I have some beautiful pairs of buttons I think I could use on placemat hats as well as flowers? ❤️👒🌺

Lovely! What steamer are you using, it looks amazing!
Hi Collen, it is just a small household steamer, this one is 'silvercrest' but Vax and other companies make them. I hope this helps
A plus for great work
Do you know someone who teaches how to make hats like Lilian Taylor? I love big hats for big occasions
I really love this fab idea, I’m definitely going to try this. Do you use a specific supplier for the straw placemats? when I look they all seem to be made of polypropylene, not made of straw. Thank you 😊 x
Hi, I just buy them when I see them in home stores, but you can use polypropylene ones as well.
Is it possible to shellac the placemats sometimes I can tell if they are made of straw, fabric or polyester? Thanks
I use straw ones, shellac wouldn't stiffen them any more , hope this helps
Love your channel! Is there any glue you can recommend to cover the entire hat with so it won’t lose its shape and be stiff?
this is fairly stiff anyway, but you could coat with 50/50 pva/water mix brushed on
@@SHMillinery oh I see. Thanks 🤗
what steamer do you use?
any small household steamer, normally used for cleaning!
Do you think it's possible to shape a placement into a fedora shape on top?
No, they won't go into complex shapes
Thanks
What steamer is that ?
Just a general household one
Hi Sara, is it possible to enlarge sinamay hat with a hat stretcher?
