I made your pie crust and my family loved it. I always go to your channel first for recipes.....BECAUSE....you put the recipe in the description.....I get upset when I have to constantly pause the video just get the recipe. Thank you for that!!
This is hands down the best pie crust I've ever tried. I've used it for countless apple pies (and some berry pies mixed in) over the years and it has always been extremely well received. I add some cinnamon (especially if I used it for an applie pie) as well as some vanilla sugar to give it some extra flavour, but it also works just fine as is.
Great recipe, my dear! As a baker for many years, I really enjoy your channel. Great recipes, lighting, video skills, and another increasingly rare quality, your professionalism. Your pleasant appearance (no nose rings, tattoos, or blue/pink hair) and your lovely voice is SO appreciated. You speak without overuse of the word "like." Your voice is easy to listen to, not nasal or squeaky high-pitched, but most of all you speak with no vocal fry or upspeak at the end of your phrases. You don't sound like you're always asking a question. You don't seem unrealistically excited or phony. You sound very pleasant, yet mature and professional. THANK YOU.
I’m glad you scaled up this recipe. I used the original portions the first time, but I’m really looking forward to trying it again with the little more dough!
I was going to buy a couple of pie crusts for the holidays and decided that yours looks so much better! Looking forward to using yours because I like to make mini pies and pies of different sizes and I like that i get to determine how thick the crust is! Thank you! Your recipes are clearly a hit here at our house when I make them! Even the people I've shared them with love them too!
Oh my goodness, this pie crust is perfect! It baked up so beautifully, and tasted amazing! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe, my family loved it!❤
Great recipe. Using sour cream and no water is the secret to getting consistency. I use this recipe for making fried pies. Works great and super simple.
You make me smile. I will have to give this a try. I admit that I have been scared to try pie crust, someone told me they are difficult. But, you explain it well, and I do have this new food processor. ;-)
Sure this will work for just about any recipe that needs a pie crust. It can be made by hand you’ll just need to be careful to get your butter cut up and worked in without warming it up too much. A pastry cutter should work well here. 😊
I doubled your recipe for a traditional apple pie crust. Needed to add a couple Tablespoons of water. Easy to roll out, It turned out to be so delicious and beautiful as well. Thank you!
I've only ever used Martha (you-know-who's) recipe for pie crust. But i like you MUCH MORE than she 💜😉 So, Sam's pie crust recipe, it is, from this holiday forward!
I thought the secret ingredient was cold vodka. It does make it flaky. I've never heard of sour cream before🤔. I wonder if yogurt would work the same🤔?? I'll have to try if I ever get a home and a kitchen.
@@SugarSpunRun ok thank you. I will have to try it both ways to see what the difference is if there is any. It may take awhile but I'll get back to you and let you know. Thanks for all the great recipes!
I know this is an older recipe of yours, but i have used a similar recipe and always had a problem with it shrinking when I blind bake. Do you ever have this problem with this recipe.
It takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process (there’s no fussing with various amounts of ice water like most recipes use). It also adds depth of flavor.

Can't wait to try this! I was on your blog but the jump to recipe button didn't take me to the video link. Thanks for sharing!!! ❤❤
You're welcome! If you have an ad blocker running it won't allow the video to show up. :(
DOUBLE THANKS...
Can’t wait to try it. Great job! Although I would recommend tying your hair back as a best practice when preparing food.
Next time I make a pie, I will try this recipe. Thank you
You are welcome 😊 I hope you love it!

It really is easy--you've got this! 🙂
Using this crust recipe today to make my son’s favorite Birthday pie, “Pumpkin” in August! 🙏🏻🌹🙏🏻
I hope you love it! Happy birthday to your son! :)
@@SugarSpunRun it is delicious, pies turned out great! He is going to be a happy birthday boy all week enjoying his pumpkin pies! Thanks again! 🙏🏻🌹🙏🏻
Thank you very much for the video. Your recipe is perfect. It's super easy. Take care ✌🏾
Thank you! You too!
Looks great. Does this recipe make 2 pie crust or just 1? Wanna do a pot pie with it
It just makes one but doubles easily. 😊
Wow! No ice water added?? I can’t wait to TRY THIS CRUST!! Thank you.😊
No ice water needed! I hope you love it! :)
I try it the other day thx thx it was great !!
Glad you liked it!!
This is the best ever.
Thank you!! 😊😊
Hey, can I use this recipe to make cornflake tart? Also can this be done by hand without food processor?
Sure this will work for just about any recipe that needs a pie crust. It can be made by hand you’ll just need to be careful to get your butter cut up and worked in without warming it up too much. A pastry cutter should work well here. 😊

Awesome! I hope you love it! 😊
THE BEST PIE CRUST!!!!!
Thank you 😍
Hi Spun, Very Nice!😊
Hi Sam question does the sour cream have to be cold or at room temp???
Cold is best 😊
@@SugarSpunRun thanks Sam. Going to make it this weekend!!
Going to try your pie crust recipe. The recipe I've used for years has 1T of vinegar in it always turns flaky.😊
I hope you love it! :)
I think I could substitute crisco in place of butter right? I have lots crisco to use up.
Hi Chief Sam, do have have an Almond Flour pie crust recipe that You can share with us all?
Can you use a blender instead of a food processor?
Unfortunately a blender may prove to be too much. You could do it with a pastry cutter though. 😊
looks like a 5 star pie crust. btw, 4:22, do we need to pre- grease the plate?
Thank you! There’s no need to grease the pie plate. 😊
What kind of processor you used?
@MARY FIELDS both homemade and store. It depends how lazy I can be.
Hola 🙋🏻♀️ desde México 🇲🇽
You are a cutie pie 🥰 Thank you!
Hi, Can I use half butter & half crisco? Thank you.
I really recommend it as written. It could probably still work but the flavor won't be quite as good. :)
Could I use 1/4 cup of sourdough starter instead of sour cream?
Did you use bleach or unbleached flour for your baked goods?
I use both, these days unbleached but you can use either in this recipe.
I thought the secret ingredient was cold vodka. It does make it flaky. I've never heard of sour cream before🤔. I wonder if yogurt would work the same🤔?? I'll have to try if I ever get a home and a kitchen.
I think the cold vodka might be a nice side accompaniment.
Full fat greek yogurt should work. :)
@@SugarSpunRun ok thank you. I will have to try it both ways to see what the difference is if there is any. It may take awhile but I'll get back to you and let you know. Thanks for all the great recipes!
Can this be use for savory pies?? Loke chicken pot pie?
I use it for chicken pot pie all the time. You could leave out the sugar if you choose, but it's not necessary. :)
Have you ever used gluten free flour for this crust recipe?
I have not tried it so unfortunately I can't say for sure how it would turn out. If you do try it I would love to know how it goes. :)
@@SugarSpunRun my celiac daughter is visiting and wants strawberry pie. I’m trying it right now in fact and will let you know.
@@SugarSpunRun it came out very short but it’s not so bad especially with strawberry in it.
I remember years ago Martha Stewart using sour cream in her pie crust recipes.
I know this is an older recipe of yours, but i have used a similar recipe and always had a problem with it shrinking when I blind bake. Do you ever have this problem with this recipe.
I actually have a post on blind baking that will help you! ua-cam.com/video/NkZyDyZ7IRo/v-deo.html
@@SugarSpunRun I checked it out, thanks. Hopefully it will help me
Can I use yogurt?
Full fat greek yogurt should work. :)
no water?
Nope. :)
But seriously tho, how does the sourcream improve the crust/dough?
It takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process (there’s no fussing with various amounts of ice water like most recipes use). It also adds depth of flavor.
Hey Hey be nice to Mom...You will always be her little girl no matter how old you get so know she can still smack you!!!
