      If you'd like to feel even older:
      if the Nintendo DS was a person, they would have graduated high school a year ago
      if the PS3 was a person, they'd be in high school.
      if the Wii was a person, they'd be in high school.
      if the Wiiu was a person, they'd be in 5th or 6th grade.
      if the PS4 was a person, they'd be in 4th or 5th grade.
      if the Nintendo Switch was a person, they'd be in kindergarten or 1st grade.
      There are kids the age of the first Sonic movie who can walk, talk, run, write, count, and read.
      There are kids born at the start of the pandemic who are about to start kindergarten.
      There are teenagers the same age as Wii Sports who work at Burger King.
      There are teenagers the age of the first iPhone who can drive or are learning how to drive.
      There are kids younger than Minecraft who know how to do long division.
      There are kids younger than the first FNAF game who know how to do multiplication.
      There are kids younger than rage comics who can sign up for UA-cam (without needing to lie about their age).
      There are people younger than the first (and best) Spongebob movie who can vote.
      There are people younger than Family Guy who can also vote.
      I just think its interesting. :)

    7:00 I learned relatively recently that its normal to gain weight after starting a new exercise regimen, since that new activity causes greater water retention in the muscles or something, swelling up your body mass. So for anyone out there experiencing that, do not be discouraged, your progress with the scales is just a tad obscured as you start off!

    • @MatthewStevensOrMattDave
      @MatthewStevensOrMattDave 6 місяців тому +32

      If your diet keeps you at maintenance calorie intake but you build muscle mass, you will gain weight. The only way to lose weight is to create a calorie deficit. So for some people they might gain weight, but that's still good for them actually, since they are becoming healthier, they're building muscle, making it easier to function.
      Body weight can be unreliable as a metric of health, but if you want to bring it down, it's much harder to create a caloric deficit on exercise alone. Reducing calorie intake and combining it with some exercise is much more manageable, but the majority of your deficit usually comes from reducing calorie intake.
      But if you don't change your diet at all, it will take a long time, but adding some sort of cardio work out will create a deficit over a large amount of time. Walking for 30 minutes every day for a year will likely have the same outcome as a two week long crash diet, but will make you far less miserable and has cardiovascular health benefits ie. keeps your heart healthy.

    Man when I was 14, I lost 14lbs in 3 months on the wiifit by just doing hula hooping for 10 mins and free step for 30 mins every other day.
    You just have to ignore the weights and the age and stuff. That increased my body issues when I was a kid.
    It's good for starting out or if you don't have a lot of mobility, otherwise you are better off working out around the house, your local area, or the gym.

      @segnoggin 8 місяців тому +154

      Yeah and even in general a lot of ppl dont take in account water weight and stuff like that. • @chipsjalapeno_
      @chipsjalapeno_ 8 місяців тому +32

      Ok but also, being 14 your metabolism was probably faster. Idk if the same routine would work the same way today. Not trying to be mean or anything but tbh wii fit is just not that good of a workout

    • @tforceraven
      @tforceraven 7 місяців тому +30

      @@chipsjalapeno_ You just have to take it all with a pinch of salt. The workout I did made sense because it is cardio and a bit of core training. Would the same workout have the exact same effect on me today? Probably not, I am older and my lifestyle is way different. But I would definitely get something out of it.
      I don't know if you ever played a game called Dr Kawashima's Brain Training. It was similar to WiiFit but with your brain instead of body.
      Studies done on this game have shown that it had little to no effect on "improving" the brain especially in young people, however, it showed some positive effects in elderly people (and I would assume anybody who doesn't do any other brain activities).
      Taking that into account, I conclude that wiifit is not necessarily for young, active people who have access to other, more effective exercise options. It may be that it is beneficial to people with less mobility or can not leave the house for whatever reason. Even just a fun way to start getting into fitness.
      I didn't mean for my reply to be so long, I just get excited to talk about these things lol.
      TLDR: WiiFit could be a good exercise for some people. But people who are able to do more effecient exercises, probably should do those instead.

    • @back2damoon
      @back2damoon 7 місяців тому +3

      You did not lose 14 pounds in 3 months from 40 mins of exercise every other day. You likely combined this with subconsciously eating less calories to be more healthy. Weight is a calorie in calorie out equation and the amount burned from this amount of exercise is negligible.

    Out of uni I was approaching 200lbs so I did wii fit every day for like a year and ended up losing 40lbs. Calorie deficit, eating better, consistent work outs do help. Depends on if your body handles cardio or strength training better. I have hypothyroidism so cardio doesn't do anything for me and it takes me 2hrs instead of 1 to enter fat burn. So step ups, running in place, biking with music was a God send. In conclusion it gets you moving and that's a great thing.

    since I'm only 1 year younger than you I think we had really similar experiences playing wii fit as a kid!! I always just played it for fun because the games are addicting and I'm the type who gets motivated by numbers (not in terms of weight, but reps in exercise for instance). I also played on a carpet but i didnt care lol. Also that meditation game is no joke! My mom took a lot of classes in meditation and she did the hardest difficulty on her first try no sweat, but I was straining to be totally still. That's a cool one imo. I'm glad you got something out of revisiting it :)

    Hey man! Very proud of you for this
    I wanna let you know what weight fluctuations is absolutely normal, and can change based on how much water you're retaining, bowel movements, and how much you've eaten. Muscle also weighs more than fat, so if you're doing strength exercises that could make the numbers go up, but that's not a bad thing in this case!
    I've seen most people recommend weighing yourself on a weekly basis to not get discouraged with daily fluctuations.
    Best of luck to you, I found your content the other day and I'm really enjoying it. Keep up the good work!

    As somone who has played this game on and off for a decade, the balance board being on a carpet really made your experience worse than it actually is, I've never had it be wildy off my real weight even in 2023. It also seems like you weren't doing some of the exercises to the fullest extent, or you werent even doing some of them properly. And honestly if you mostly ignore the balance games you can loose a good amount of weight, and I mostly use it by itself because I can't go to a gym.
