That is very nice ,great job and thank you for telling the truth about how fast it is, ,I have been building an selling these tipe bikes for a long time now,I know how fast they are
@@fernandocastillo8026 I think I got 450 for it. I also through another complete bike with no motor because the guy expressed interest in maybe doing another one.
@@TraylorBoys my mom and grandma bought me one. they paid $50 for it a year ago. an old lady sold it to them, her son used to ride it. what kind of engine kit should i get if i want to do one of these?
I think With the CNC motor mount You not need the base mount engine You can holder the engine in the SEAT tube in the back motor mount and for the front use the CNC motor mount from Cdh power and i think is better of that base motor mount You have is only one opinión
The frame was the worst part when we got this bike. We had to weld studs on for the brakes, someone cut them off, and then decided to repaint. My son loves Kawasaki, so it ended up being green and black.
There’s a kit you can buy that supports the engine within the frame. I couldn’t use U bolts to secure the kit to the frame, I instead used all-thread with nuts on each end. The engine is a tight fit too, I had to slightly bend the exhaust to clear the pedals. It’s a long stretch for the chain, and you will need to develop a way clear the rear part of the frame and brakes. Several ways you can do it.
It’s actually just how the bike is made. They are schwinn stringray chopper bikes. I don’t know if they still make them or not, but you can usually find them cheap online. Then just add the motor kit. Those can be purchased on Amazon or eBay pretty cheap too.
I believe this could be mounting in any full size bicycle. You do need to make a mount for inside this frame, it basically mimics a traditional frame allowing the motor to clamp tight.
I think the motor mount was home made. It basically was 2 pipes welded to a piece of flat steel. It replicates the frame of a traditional bicycle. If you can weld, or know a fab shop, you could just use a stock bike to get your dimensions.
Yes. A motor mount is needed to replicate a traditional bike frame. The exhaust needed to be slightly bent to clear the pedals. But it bends pretty easy.
I wish I had pictures of what I made. Basically a piece of flat steel with 2 tubes welded to it that replicated a traditional bike frame. Then 2 U-bolts held the bracket to the frame of the bike.
The tank comes with the mounts. I believe, if I remember correctly, I had make spacers to get it to sit correctly. But the tank mounts that came with the kit were still used.
Hey man I was wondering were you got the black motor mount from I am looking and I cannot find it so if you know where I can find it at I will appreciate it
So that mount came with the bike from the previous owner. I just painted it. If you know any weld shop, they could make it. So easy. 1 piece of flat stock and 2 tubes to replicate the frame.
I’ve since sold this bike. But I know the kit came with a chain, I had to order another chain and add at least a foot to it. The long chain makes for a lot of slack which is why that tensioner is important. With some trial and error, you just make it work.
Could you send me a link on the kit or something close to it we have the same bike but we got a kit and it isn't the right one any help would be greatly appreciated! Great looking chopper
If you bought an engine kit, my guess is it’s correct for any model bike. These stingrays do not have a traditional frame. Looking at mine, see the black tubes bracket cradling the motor? It simulates a traditional bike frame and it’s needed to install an engine on these bikes. If you Google it, you should find sites that sell this adapter. If you can’t, let me know, I’ll see if I can dig something up.
They make a ton of performance upgrades for these motors. I think mine ran between 20-25 maxed out with this engine and the supplied sprocket. Gearing it different would get higher speeds, but it’s only a single gear drive, so too high would be difficult to pull out. As far as reliability of the engine. It definitely tended to rattle bolts out, it’s a tiny two stroke, so it vibrates a lot. I used some loctite and periodically checked them for tightness. Other than that, it started very easily and seemed to run well. The bike has since been sold to fund other projects.
@@TraylorBoys thank you for fast reply! The brackets that came with my kit aren’t wide enough for the frame on the Schwinn chopper so I’ve just been looking around today for what I’m gonna do to get it mounted
These chopper bikes have a stretched out frame. The mount basically represents a traditional bike frame, then it’s u-bolted to the existing schwinn chopper frame. So you could “fit” the motor in a traditional bike to take your measurements, then fabricate a cradle for the motor from there.
The kit came with a rear sprocket. It used some sort of rag coupling to mount. The engine also came with a sprocket. The only thing I needed was a longer chain.
@@MrBiscuitGaming6000 so this motor has basically 1 gear. To start it you pedal the bike and let the clutch out, engaging the single gear. Basically bump starting the engine. Then pull the clutch in to let it warm up. Very simple design, but effective. If you’ve ever drive a moped, it’s very similar. Also, If you buy this engine kit, make sure you go over all the nuts/bolts and tighten them down. Several rattled loose on us.
@@LimitedBeast so that motor mount came with the bike when we got it. The guy we bought it from tried to mount a motor, but was unsuccessful. I know there’s mounts for these. But it was simply a piece of 1/4” thick flat stock with 2 pieces of steel tubing welded to replicate the frame of a bike. If you can weld, or have a buddy with a welder, it would be pretty easy to make.
@@inserthandlehere648 we ended up selling it. We paid 60 for the bike and I think about 120 for the engine kit? Sold it for 450 bucks. It honestly was a neat little bike, if we lived in a town we would have kept it.

Cheap to maintain to good power plants for small engine. I’d stick with it. But we appreciate your opinion.
Yeah they’re more fun for upgrading and working on, but 4 strokes seem to be way less maintenance
