Hi TAKASHii Great videos, keep it up, however i just realised what you said at the end "how was it? that was interesting!" So i wanted to give you advice on that.
Instead of saying "how was it? That was interesting!" which sounds kinda weird/off, try saying it the other way around "That was interesting, but what do you think ? Let me know in the comment section below" and ask your viewers what they thought, which might animate some viewers to actually type something in there and maybe even talk to each other ;P.
      Have a nice day.

As a European girl in Japan, it’s actually interesting hearing the questions about dating religious people. At least to me, I don’t consider Western people to be very religious. At least not in the traditional way, perhaps more in a cultural way where we follow cultural norms with roots in religion, but this is also the case for many Japanese people and shinto traditions.

They view religion in the context of secularism. For example they may view things like believing in "good vibes" or other new-age stuff as religious behavior due to its lack of basis in a secular worldview. Even just casually saying things like "thoughts and prayers" may come off as "religious" to some.

Takashii it would be interesting for you to ask whether Japanese men would consider a serious relationship or marriage with a foreign or western woman, because my experience (admittedly limited) is that while some Japanese men are keen to casually date foreign women, its usually just out of curiosity or even fetish and rarely with the view of forming a serious, long-lasting relationship. Some of them would, but it's not common at all. Most Japanese men are much more patriarchal than most Western men. They will expect you to change a lot to suit them but they won't do the same for you, and they pretty much never do housework. This is why most Japanese men prefer Asian women as wives over Western women. Asian women are perceived to be more feminine, better at educating children, better at cooking, and can have kids that could physically fit in easier in the conformist Japanese society. Japanese men may find Western women attractive and may want to date them (or just have sex with them) but they are far less interested in marrying them and having them be the mothers of their children. Japanese women are much more likely to marry Western men than Japanese men are to marry Western women.

It's interesting how many seem to think that foreigners can't/won't adapt... After living in Japan for 2 years, I spoke mainly Japanese and only ate Japanese food! The 3:40 "scared to approach" answer felt most accurate to what I personally experienced. I could tell some men were interested (though sometimes just for superficial reasons) but none ever approached me or wanted to meet more than once haha. After a while, I noticed that I was subconsciously trying to suit/please them by being more modest and cute (i.e more like what they're used to with Japanese women). I think if I were to have had a relationship, it would only have worked with someone with a more 'international' mindset (with some Engish skill or travel experience) so that we could meet halfway and not just me adjusting.

first off, when they say "western", 98% of the time they actually mean "us-ian", meaning europeans are completely excluded. i will however put australia and the uk in the same basket with the us, the culture is more or less the same (sharing a language is heavy, culturally speaking), but europeans can absolutely not be considered the same as the anglosaxons, even if we disregard the inner differences between each european country.
but i can say it, looks wise they 99,9999% prefer paler skin over darker skin due to the old "pale = rich, dark = poor" stereotype (if i had to give one reason, since this same argument is very much prevalent in asia as a whole)

As someone that lived in Japan for almost 2 years, getting along with the people means respecting their culture and learning from it. Same goes for any relationships from different cultures. If the person isn't willing to compromise and respect their culture such as taking off shoes in the house, then that isn't something that's going to last.
I'm from the US and I've always loved the idea of stepping into another's ways and learning from them. It takes two open minds and respectful people to make such a relationship work. But I think it's the most rewarding when it happens

But then I started thinking, how gross it would be to have someone walk on my sofa or chairs with their shoes on. My parents would yell at us as kids if we ever did that. So the differences make more sense. And now, I do leave my shoes outside because I find it's cleaner.

As a French girl, I've been on a date with a Japanese guy in Paris once. It was really cool and I loved discovering a proper japanese restaurant in Paris because most of them really suck (some sushis taste like dirt...). I've always hated fish and basically any food coming from the sea but this time, I ate octopus and oysters (which I considered the most disgusting things that you can eat coming from the sea :joy: ). I was really surprised because I actually liked proper Japanese cuisine. I am also learning Japanese language and it was really nice to be able to share about our different languages and the little things that reflect one's culture in the language itself (for instance, the fact that you don't use the same word to talk about "your mother" or "my mother", or the fact that you have 10 different ways to address someone according to who they are to you). I am very curious about other cultures.
Plus, I think that shy men are somewhat sexy and I prefer a man who's reserved, quiet and respectful rather than a loud goof who thinks that he's better than everyone else. I don't know, it's like you can never argue or fight with a japanese guy. I imagine he would be like: "Okay, let's calmly talk about this". And THAT is relaxing and sexy. Trust yourselves, guys: why wouldn't we date you? 😁

I think if a couple of people from different cultures are honest with each other and tolerant and open-minded they could compromise here and there and be happy.
Religion and maybe also traditions and cultural values are probably the biggest challenges. So it might be easier to date someone if they already know things about the other culture and if they are enthusiastic about it.
I also have an impression that Westerners would probably be more tolerant than the Japanese who seem to be more strict and attached to fixed rules in general, but the opposite could happen, everyone is different.

As an American woman of German and Italian descent, I'm not assertive or confident at all. On the contrary, I'm quiet and shy to approach men, but I find Japanese men extremely attractive. I would love a serious relationship with a Japanese man, but so often I hear that they are only looking for someone to practice their English on or as a short-term partner. Japanese men out there, please know that not all American women are like the stereotype in your head.

It's interesting that one of the men mentioned that it'd be different if they lived in Japan or elsewhere. I wish you had explored those two options a bit more. One of my friends married a Japanese man and they lived in Spain for two years before moving to Japan. While in Spain, they had a perfect partnership, sharing house chores, going out together with friends, what I see as a perfect relationship. However when they moved to Japan he became verbally and psychologically abusive of her, refused to do any house chores and would shout at her for not cooking Japanese food the way he liked. Naturally less than a year after they moved, she filed for divorce. I think the most shocking thing for her and those of us that knew him is that up until then he seemed the sweetest man and a great husband and we don't really understand how the country you live in can have such a strong effect in how you behave.

As an orthodox Eastern European it was very interesting to hear them mention religion, I think it's actually the first time I hear this in an interview of the sort. It's an important aspect to some people and it def should be taken into account. I could never marry an non-orthodox for example, nor would I want, but I know many EE women who are married to Japanese men actually, because they don't really have a religion so they tend to easily take yours.
Also, I think Japanese men should have more self-confidence. You are cooler than you think!

Guy at 6:45 has similar thoughts to Western girls. He says “why would a western girl date me when western guys are so attractive?” Western girls think “why would a Japanese like me when Japanese women are so beautiful?” But in truth many western women like Japanese men, and many Japanese men like western women, so nobody should compare themselves to what they “think” someone will like. I always thought “no Asian men would like me because I’m 6 feet tall,” but on your show I’ve heard some men say that they are attracted to very tall women. 😁👍
