Gotta agree with Paul here. He makes a good point. Like, we have an animal mouse and a computer mouse. You can have an architectural gargoyle and an artifact creature gargoyle.
No Graham... A Gargoyle is stone by day, warrior by night. They were betrayed by the humans they had sworn to protect, frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years. Now, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and they live again! They are defenders of the night! They are Gargoyles™!
I remember at pax 23, I got in an elevator, my friend held it open for the next guy, asked what floor, and Graham said his floor. I did a literal double take. One of the most surreal moments of my life.
The adventure name tangent made me think that could make for an interesting Stump the _________ segment. Give only the name of the adventure, and have the guessers come up with the adventure's text and the creature's name and text.
That knight land is Tournament Grounds. It taps for a colorless or it taps for a red, white, or black but it can only be used to cast knights or equipment.
Revenge of Ravens was a gigantic beating in limited. LSV infamously gave it a 1.5/5 in his set review, but after a week of the format being out, went back and updated his rating to 3.5/5 and basically said, "My bad, this card is bonkers." Black also had Syr Konrad who was also really good for an uncommon, not to mention a handful of 2-for-1s at common and solid removal (like Bake into a Pie).
One card with adamant i cast a bunch is foreboding fruit. Its a sign in blood for 2 and a black that makes a food if you spend 3 black mana. Thats one more food to resurrect the cat
At first I thought "what about the adventure called Wish?" After looking it up, the card is called Fae of Wishes and the adventure is Granted which would be a weird name for a card
One could argue that since it takes mana to awaken the gargoyle, that it's a grotesque until then, and is only gargoyled with magic. Although one would need to see if it did spout water when in idle mode :p
Oh, and, before I forget; Wow, Graham. Good Job! He listed the 1st pick _in pack order_ PERFECTLY. If pack 1: *Troll King* If pack 2: *Beanstalk Giant* If pack 3: *Revenge of Ravens*
So, I almost know all the common adventure-names from Throne of Eldraine, plus those of the most played rares. The reasons for this is that I really got into the game starting with this set and drafted it at FNM relatively frequently where I actually called out the name of the adventures I cast. So Gift of the Fea, On Alert, Rider in Need, Dizzying Swoop, Boulder Rush, Haggle, Treats to Share, Shield's Might, Oaken Boon, Venture Deeper plus Harvest Fear, Curry Favor and Rage of Winter I would be able to tell you some combination of what creature it's on in terms of gameplay mechanics, what that creature is called and what the Adventure itself is(, meaning both if it's an instant or sorcery and what it does). Seasonal Ritual I might guess right, but I had honestly misremembered the name of that one and similarly if I was given the name of the creature I might misremember Harvest Fear as Reap Fear and Rage of Winter as... Frost Winds or some such. The rest of them that didn't see extensive play I might have a chance to remember properly, but aside from Alter Fate I am much less confident.
Did you know the word gargoyle has the same root as gargle. Gargling water is their whole identity. How dare a grotesque appropriate [Lochtwain Gargoyle tilts head back, snorts, gargles spit and snot and lets loose]
I've gotten opponents with a single Revenge of Ravens. What you do is flood the board with zombie tokens, and when your opponent finally builds up enough board presence to overrun alpha you, they realize too late that it's the moment you've been hoping for. Just enough time for an "Oops." before they're Giga Drained.
Offscreen Paul Crack A Pack jumpscare. I would argue that a gargoyle doesn't have to be actively spouting water from its mouth to be a gargoyle, it just has to have the capability. It's not raining in the art, is it? QED. Also, it's not as fun as flample, but, or the troll king...tragilance?
Didn't the LOTR themed Commander stuff have a deck that let you spam Food tokens like it was going out of style? Seems like Feasting Troll King would be an interesting addition to that deck as a way of cheating out a big green beatstick...

DUUUUUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DAAAAA DADADAAAAA
It only counts if the intro's narrated by Keith David though.
After watching this video, can confirm that I am now an elk

Graham expecting gargoyles to have an entire building gutter hooked into the back of their skulls at all times or else they're not a gargoyle
🤏🕶😐
That gargoyle discourse just blew my mind

Oooh, that does sound like a good idea!
Fertile Footsteps also gets you the land untapped so that's a nice bonus.
Fertile footsteps notably brings the land in untapped as opposed to rampant growth

Everyone knows a Gargoyle with water coming out of its mouth is a Gar-gurgle.
"Greetings, you Jousting Dummies" was very good.
6:15 as soon as gargoyle was mentioned, i knew what was going to happen. I appreciate this level of quality
This set was a BLAST to draft with other people.

I do love that Gargoyles in Discworld actually did have mouths like waterspouts.
At first I thought "what about the adventure called Wish?" After looking it up, the card is called Fae of Wishes and the adventure is Granted which would be a weird name for a card
This gargoyle chat is why I love LRR. Also Graham is right.

Wouldn't it need to be an artifact that becomes an artifact creature for that to work, it's still alive it just needs mana to fight
I suspected the +2 power would be it spitting water at you.
Delightful as always!
Adventures I remember:
*Petty Theft*
*Curry Favor*
*Profane Insight*
*Chop Down*
..... oh, and *Venture Deeper* . That's it.
Oh, and, before I forget; Wow, Graham. Good Job! He listed the 1st pick _in pack order_ PERFECTLY.
If pack 1: *Troll King*
If pack 2: *Beanstalk Giant*
If pack 3: *Revenge of Ravens*
Ah yes feasting troll king with 3 giant skewers eqipped, block if you dare.
You’re welcome 👍🏻

8:46 Yeah, but can you imagine having to fight a “Burning Yard-Trainer”? Some kind of flame elemental turned gardener…
Here's the thing, if the gargoyles have to eat and drink then they are naturally waterspouts.
heck yeah, Revenge of Ravens is my favorite card
Did you know the word gargoyle has the same root as gargle. Gargling water is their whole identity. How dare a grotesque appropriate [Lochtwain Gargoyle tilts head back, snorts, gargles spit and snot and lets loose]
Crack! A! Pack!
I believe all of us have been elk'd.

Don't you mean your opponent floods the board with tokens, not you?
@@Mordalon no I flooded the board, thus creating a stalled boardstate. I'm a zombie maniac.
I'm a big fan of Paul-Graham Tangents!
I definitely remember Cut Down on the Giant Killer.
EDIT: Ah frick it's Chop Down.... Oh well
Offscreen Paul Crack A Pack jumpscare.

... or you just draft outflank, which was a bomb in White Weenie. Ever hit a creature for 5 or so with it?

Counterpoint to Paul, isnt there a card from one of the newer Ravnica sets that has a Grotesque in both its art and its name?
I’m surprised you stopped at Stomp when Petty Theft on Brazen Borrower was right there…
So can “dingle that hopper” be a new card kingdom pin?
[Insert witty comment for engagement]
trans gargoyles is also gargoyles.
