I have no kids and I am 63 so have no idea why your channel came up on my recommended today but I am glad it did. I was a shy and sensitive only child, for me school was traumatic. I come from a generation where home schooling wasnt even heard of, but I wish it could have been an option for me. I have suffered with anxiety all my life, and I am convinced this stems from my formative years in school. Good for you for home schooling, you are doing the right thing, schools are toxic places by their very nature. Huge well done.

Thank you so much for sharing your story, gave me goosebumps because it resonates so much. 💜 I grew up a shy only child too, and while I definitely didn’t recognise school as being traumatic at the time there I so many anxieties I look back on now as an adult that I recognise as being a result of the school system. Coming into the world of home education is like having a veil lifted from my eyes to how toxic school can be for some kids, and I wish more people with kids knew it can be a really valid and rewarding an option. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, it’s odd sometimes the UA-cam algorithm suggests us these things that end up resonating with us!

I know they are cliches but for a lot of people asking the dont know they are. When a lot of people hear about it and ask these questions it because they dont even realise home education is an option. My girls are still very young and at toddler groups the subject of nursey registration came up and when i said we are planning home educating we got asked all these (yes, even the exam one lol!) I think it would be good if it was spoken about to everyone as an option by the like of health visitors or someone. I know thats not likely as its not encouraged by the government. However i genuinely believe people just dont know about it.
Totally agree on your points about people acting like your weird for wanting to spend more time with your kids, this is the main reason i want to home ed. I think more people want this but others act like your trying to be superior or a better mum. So many dont talk about it which is a shame. I read the book M is for Mama. Very religious and i not but totally agree with the meaning behind it.

You’re absolutely right! I didn’t realise it was an option either until I came to check when I suppose to apply for school places and saw it on the gov website that you can choose to educate from home. I was like “what?!? I’ll obviously do that then”, but like you said no one ever mentions it to you. It’s great you’re planning to home Ed while your kids are still young and you can sort of ‘try it out’ for a bit before they reach CSA. That’s what we did too by attending meet-ups etc from when the twins were about 3.5/4. Thanks for the book suggestion! Not heard of that one before and I love books as you might have guessed from my ‘books about homeschool’ video 😄. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 💜

I find that when I say I really enjoy my time with my children and that home education is the best thing we have done, they are interested but seem shocked and always question how they learn. I do find though, that we are the best advertisement so to speak when it comes to what home educating looks like so the more positive you are about it,the more they walk away with lots to think on. It’s breaking that negative stigma about it and I’m happy to do that😁
This interview,it was clear that there was an agenda here! The agenda being to feed into the negative picture many have of parents who choose this way of life.her statement about ‘lazyiness’ etc was quite insulting actually because there are far more parents out there who want the best education for their children and do not make these decisions lightly compared to the very few who don’t care.she almost implys that home education is a lazy option but it’s ok if parents are like Nadia meaning ‘wealthy’ etc I didn’t like the subtle undertones of what the interviewer was implying. Words and tones are very important and telling!

I totally got that impression too, and you're so right: more often than not people who choose home education have given their child's education WAY more thought and consideration than those who simply send their kids to school because it's the norm.

I have a huge amount of time for home ed - always have, even before the system became impossible. However, Nadia's children were not home educated. It was a cover for her unemployed husband, who took repeatedly took them to the cinema and art galleries instead of getting a job. The elder daughter is 20 years old with no job or qualifications, whilst the younger one returned to school aged 14, so she could get some GSCEs. She struggled with the KS3/4 curriculum and when Nadia offered to help, her daughter revealed that the standard was higher than either of her parents were capable of understanding. Sad.

Interesting! You seem to know more about her situation than I do, so I will take your word for it. Not a good example of Home Ed if that’s the case. I think probably home ed is a different world if you have a lot of money too. Thanks for commenting! 😊

nadia homeschooled her eldest daughter from eleven to eighteen. Maddie is now a singer songwriter and has studied acting. her youngest daughter was homeschooled from 7-14. kiki found an arts based state school that she wanted to go to which nadia and her partner mark agreed on.

I’m amused by the parents who complain about their children being at home during school breaks. Like…did they not know parenting was part of the having children package?

😂 I do wonder though if it's different for kids in school. Like either the parents aren't use to having them around so much, or the kids are higher energy because they're not use to so much free time, so it feels harder. I do know parents who love when they're kids are off school and get to spend more time with them too. I wonder if the parents who complain are a loud minority.

They definitely didn't hold back, but I guess a lot of that is for the sake of creating a bit of TV drama. You could almost guess what the next question was going to be 😄

We don’t need primary schools since parents are primary educators, hence the confusion

Yep we have been educating our children since the day they were born really. In a very natural way 💜

@@nurturingdiscontentif I had kids and they turn 11 I would send them to school (secondary). I have nothing against teachers, esp when I know some don’t want to teach certain subjects and what have you. Good news about I found about lgb… teaching in primary schools ain’t required but that came far too late. If schools were given devolution on curriculum, would be better so done can stay with religious teachings on morality in faith schools etc. denationalising in that area should have been happening decades ago in 1960s
