You have just experienced REAL R&B! This song came out in 1977 and yes, during the famous skating rink days. They sure don't make songs like this anymore.
You got that right! I'd go back in a heartbeat ❤
🎯
Danced to this in the late 70s at many school dances, This was their biggest hit. we need to hear some The Gap Band with Charlie Wilson..mmmmmmm
Music like this will never be made nowadays, gotta appreciate this even more ✊🏾
They don’t have choreography like that anymore. 😁
I always loved watching the choreography. It was just class. We had some of the best music ever. The 60s 70s some of the 80s the greatest just the greatest. RMR love your reactions.
Sagittarius... And my name is Helen.... ♥️ That song... Count me in
My Middle Daughter too
I love this song.
I miss the 70s synchronized dancing.
I always loved this song. They all had such great voices!
I prefer the *11 minute version* of this song the best.
+kevin the truck driver Me Too.
Not me, loved the Floaters style.
I'm with you! It's the smooth groove. Timeless!
Yes! Such a tuuuuuune

Workin at the ''Car Wash''..lol or ''I wanna get next to you''
Remember the car wash dance we'd do??
So smooth, so clean, so pure and right to the point. Laid his cards on the table and told her how he felt deep in his heart. No other words were needed.
Capricorn.......& my name is James, I like a woman who digs real tunes like this!! 😂 Float on!!
Omg one of my all time favorites!!! At work my friends and I would seriously die when he says, CANCER, My name is Larry!!!
Beautiful song from the 70's....a time when men groomed their long hair or Afros and then came punk and everyone spat at each other...but bands and songs like this lasted till the 80's till the dawn of the teeny boy band and the stampede of hip hop took over and things have never been the same since. 🎶🇬🇧🇺🇸🎶
Youngster your reaction is priceless. Yes we know them too.
First time watching you I just had to see your reaction to the floaters singing one of my favorite songs I remember back in the day I was doing just that off of that song (baby making music) I'm glad you liked it, you are so funny 😂
Mr. MRM, you better float on - I thought you'd like the Floaters. There were previously 5 floaters, beautiful love song, don't make them any more.
Love this song
This is a new one for me. Before this reaction, I had never heard of this group, or song before. Loved it!
Mmm Take my hand let me take you to Loveland Bring back slow dancing
This is so cheesy, I love it, will have to be Larry for me 🤣 I'm old enough to remember this 😁
Angie Fountain Cheesy is the perfect word. Not many lyrics just a breakdown who the performers "floating". Love It!😂
I knew you'd like the falsetto of Charles. he and Larry are my favourites on this. good reaction Ty. : )
You're cracking me up with your looks lol, hey forgot about the intro's, Paul's not too fussy about his women lol
The Floaters were so smooth. When I was a kid, I wanted to either be a Floater or a Pip. Loved all that soul!

Released in 1977. I was like 10 when this came out and I've loved it since.
I was 14, this was one of my favorite's.
Those cats were cool and smooth back then, and that was not so, so long ago, my how things change.
Don't Say anything Crazy 😨😨😵😵 About This Song ok
My Friend. If you like *The Floaters.*
Check out:
*New York City* - I'm Doing Fine Now (break up song that your mom probably played this one hit wonder from the 70's).
Definitely Motown's "The Four Tops":
*Reach Out, I'll Be There*
*Keepers of the Castle*
*Ain't No Woman Like the One I Got* (Great for this time of the year 💝)
*Are You Man Enough* from the movie *Shaft in Africa* (The third Richard Roundtree Shaft movie).
Legal 😃👌 porque ele tá rindo????
King Floyd - Groove Me is a great older soul/funk song I think you'd like if you enjoyed this song.
gyloir That’s a good one.
Gyloir great choice!
I do remember that song. I think I had it on a K-Tel.
I think we all had K-Tel or Ronco LPs back then ;) A cheap way of having at least 20 hit songs from recent charts... I still have some. 'SUPERBAD' was my first by K-Tel in 1973 or 4...
Wax version of a mixtape. I often buy those compilations at thrift stores.
Could we please request Aretha Franklin. Until you come back to me?
You crack me up...lol
Yup, it registered... Floaters were the bomb.
If you liked this, try one by the O'Jays called Forever Mine
Forever Mine is a Great song
Omgggg the JAMMMMM!!!!!!! THEY WILL NEVER MAKE MUSIC LIKE THIS AGAIN!!!!! 👀💘🙏🙏
That's all they knew was to SANG...YASSS❤
They are all describing me!! So they can all have me!!! 😂🍷🌹❤️
There's a song called "Love Land" from 1970 by Charles Wright that you should give a listen to.
React to Play that Funky Music by Wild Cherry!
This song will be a bop another 45 years from now. Just a great great record. This is an awesome idea, even if I'm familiar with a lot of the content. You bring me back to a lot of songs I grew up hearing my parents and older relatives listen to at get togethers and parties.
aint seen it for years the comedys of the time use to take the mickey with larry being gay lol
Libra and my name is Charles. What a voice.
one of my favorite groups!! Float On!!
all four could sing on their own they are that good.
Your assessment of this song and comments at the end were spot on, especially about how someone would sing this song today! Their moves were smooth and classy, very reminiscent of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - the group that launched Teddy Pendergrass, who you should check out doing "I Miss You", "Hope That We Can Be Together Soon", "Bad Luck" and "The Love I Lost." (They also did the original version of "Wake Up Everybody.")
I've been listening to this since I was a kid in Detroit
Thank you my friend..reminding me of school discos...and the Teacher with a 12" ruler to make sure you don't get too small.
Nice song

This song came out in the late 70's, but I didn't hear until the early 80's. It's still one of my favorites.
Same and I only heard a few times and loved the song first tim i heard it.
Paul walker was a lady Man 💙😂😆🤣
Não sei qual é a graça
Everyone is all soft then you got My name is LARRY! 🤣
Exactly!
I remember my parents playing this song as a kid. I loved Larry because we have the same sign, plus, he was the coolest! Ha Ha. That was released in 1977... back when astrological signs were very popular on the dating scene!!
Love this song I’m a Cancer to I cruise to this song all the time Larry is my favorite!!
I can honestly say I never heard that group, song was great though don't know how I missed it if it was from the 70's
Tinha que fazer a legenda para o brasil para saber o que esse cidadao comenta de um dos melhoras grupos da mais linda melodia.
I was young when I was listening to this and it was put out b4 my time but GOOD MUSIC is smooth to the ears...smh still non close to compare now a days. Another GOOD ONE😎😎
Libraaaaaa!,..........................My name is Charles!!!!!...........................He was my favourite !!!
Crikey, takes me right back to smooching at the end of the night, love it. Do they still do slow dancing any more ?
OMG I haven't heard this since the mid 70s
This was the 1970’s love song that you got the girl of your dreams on the dance floor for the the last dance of the night and many a family was started listening to this song and absolute beauty from 1977. I’m now 66 and still listen to these fantastic 1970’s classics.
Man did you reach for this one.
I do remember it however. Some serious belly rubbin on the dance floor music.
MRM---I'd love to see your reaction to DEVO's "Freedom of Choice" as I'm sure it would be priceless.
Yay! You did this too! While I watched Strawberry Letter 23 I wondered if you'd done it. Another youth center dance tune!!
💜🎶💜🎶💜🎶💜🎶💜🎶💜
Float.....float on
As cheesy as soul could get in the polyester 70's.
I truly enjoyed watching you enjoy this song. I had the exact same reaction when Charles started. I put my hand up in the air.
That part was baaaad. GREAT falsetto. Excellent reaction!!!
Welcome to the 70s!!! The best decade .... I'll say it again ... The best decade of music!
MRM...... Only the long version should be played....this is only the back half.
One of the smoothest recordings of my generation and very very underrated.
It does Float on! Amazing.
Keep this going you are keeping real music alive.
1977 🔥: Tail-end of the classic 1970s R&B sound - right b4 funk & then hip-hop/rap took center stage. #SoulTreasure
Since you enjoyed this so much, please also check out Cheech & Chong's parody of this entitled "Bloat On" by The Bloaters: ua-cam.com/video/YLmzZmmK3R4/v-deo.html. To put this song in context, this was released at a time when everyone was into astrology, as reflected in the songs "No Matter What Sign You Are" by Diana Ross & The Supremes: ua-cam.com/video/D_s5H8tQpAw/v-deo.html, "I Can't Be You, You Can't Be Me" by The Glass House (featuring future Supreme Scherrie Payne): ua-cam.com/video/z5YeT02HNDA/v-deo.html, "I'm Going By The Stars In Your Eyes" by The Dramatics:
ua-cam.com/video/jACxYHvAkYU/v-deo.html and, the very popular "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine in" (here done by Diana Ross & The Supremes and guests): ua-cam.com/video/h1fXziNtw4M/v-deo.html
This song had everything a little humor..sexiness...and great vocals
Libra and my name is Sukie.. that was such a thing back then - telling what your astrology sign was..
Love the Floaters! You had me Laughing! I Subscribed! Lol
House Party Slow Dance Song.. From the day..
Blackbyrds
Walking in Rhythm
Loved this! It made me think of Home Free singing Blue Ain't Your Color by Keith Urban! Same style! Please check it out!
Hip hop category came out in the 90s during the punk rock era because heavy mental it was during the 70s and 80s n died out in the 90s when punk rock came out at the same time when hip hop was the thing U know BREAK DANCING
Im in my 50s. I remember this song. The Floaters was very famous and this song was #1. !! Music city. Tennessee 2022
"Libra. And my name is Larry. Now I like a woman....who can appreciate all the many channels on UA-cam.....from Modern Renaissance Man to Amberlynn Reid...." And if you think this is you: take my hand. Follow me baby to UA-camland. Be the first like I see, on the new UA-cam channel of Larry."
I know know it come out when I was in 9tj grade.bout 78💜💚❤💗💓💕💛💙💖they was so fresh...made my night
I've never understood how we went from that sweet soul sound of the 70s.......to rap & hip hop. That old stuff had melody & when you hear it decades later....it brings back memories. Here's another favorite, by The Dramatics. Notice there's NO 'scratching' of records.....or borrowing riffs from other songs. There's actual music.....& REAL musical instruments. Not just people chanting & talking fast. ua-cam.com/video/6jk7wiDGuiQ/v-deo.html And they convey a 'message' on social issues, but still manage to get the point across without it sounding like EVERY other one-hit-wonder rapper.
All the tunes I grew up with and absaolutely loved. This song is "nearly" perfect. They should have let Mr. Falsetto finish up. His voice was off the hook.
yep, I remember that song. such a mello relaxing song. back when music was music. except for disco. I wasnt into disco. check out a song called rock the boat. forget the name of the group. 60's and 70's had a LOT of good tunes.
Coca Cola lol MRM loving your expressions and skits :-D The song is from 1977. It reminds me of working in my first job when I left High School. I was turning 17 then. This was their only big hit here in the UK. Don't know what happened with them after.
One of my ALL TIME favorites!
Happy to see you discovering new music…
Música e grupo 😍 maravilhos
Lol as an 8;yr old white guy...just wanted to be that cool .
Lol
Charlies with his fine self--this is one of the smoothest songs of all time
I remember this song from 1977 well. I can tell you that a lot of men got VERY lucky to the beat of this song. Look for a parody of this song by Cheech and Chong called "Bloat On." After listening to Float on, Bloat On will have you rolling on the floor. Check me on this.
Men were different back then. I wish I was a70s baby. Too bad I was born in 1983. I love old school.
Don't dance moves like that anymore!!! Very smooth and classy!
They used to be called the Detroit emeralds they're from Sojourner Truth projects Detroit Michigan this song came out 1977 when I was 7 years old I am now going on 49 but I know the song very well
