OH WOW! LOVE the cracken mug. Good throwing work on those butter dishes! Have fun with your slip molds. That is something I have yet to try! Take care!
What beautiful pots!! The octopus mug is absolutely amazing!! And I love the soup bowls with the handles! Congratulations on venturing into slipcasting!! I started out slipcasting over 20 years ago!! It’s such a rewarding way to make intricate things and not have to handbuild them. If you have any questions about any molds please feel free to ask. Just a few things I can think of now If a mold has an a, b or c that means there are other molds needed to complete the piece. Make absolutely sure your mold is tightly closed with bands before pouring. If it’s not tightly banded, when you pour the slip in the mold it will pop open and you’ll have a huge mess! When you pour the slip out pour it slowly. Don’t let it chug or the walls of the piece can come away from the mold. Like I said any other questions let me know.
I’m glad you shared delving into slip casting. I too just recently acquired over 300 molds and about 100 more to collect. My husband thinks I’m crazy but I am looking forward to the challenge. I won’t stop throwing either!!
Lol our poor husbands. I know molds take up so much space, but if I don’t like them or don’t use them I’ll just give them away. Most of these are pretty heavily damaged on the outside so I don’t know if they will even work. Fingers crossed!
U should check out the videos of the girl from Australia that got a bunch of slip molds. She’s been doing a series of videos on them. What they r n how she glazes them. I can’t think of her name right now but she’s grown her channel with those videos. Love ur work. I’m an Okie too. SE Oklahoma
