Were there any other small details you noticed?
Donnie was blind.
Donnie was dead
I left a comment about a guy getting killed akira but is then seen later fighting John wick
john wick died
Dragon's Breath bullets, who can guess what this name come from? 😀
Charon getting shot and killed hit on a whole other level...RIP Lance... 😢
Yes it did
Heavy.......rip
He was absolutely one of my favorite character actor, I think that takes more talent. RIP❤
This movie is so well executed. The storyline, the cast, the choreography, the plot, the ending, the climax, the dialogue, the acting, the actions, the camera work all of it are all perfectly done. John wick 4 is a great addition to the John wick franchise
I respectfully disagree. The music choices for scenes and the terrible cg of his incendiary gunshots was something that took me out of the movie. A decent movie but not a good John Wick movie. Worst in the series with no doubt.
@@mattmaru9108 What are you talking about? The way they depicted the Dragon's Breath rounds is very similar to how they look in real life. He wasn't shooting normal shotgun shells...
@@mattmaru9108 this was a great movie from the beginning.
What I loved about it, is the fight scenes had a lot of substance and felt longer and more brutal than it should be. The new movie is amazing!
@@mattmaru9108 that's not cg. LMAOOOO
John being vulnerable to being hit by a car from the right is so accurate, cause he’s basically deaf from that side due to the loud fire of the gun.
like joel from tlou 😂
so many crap drivers out there
he would be deaf from both sides.
The expertly done top down shootout is a massive tribute to many different computer games out there and I enjoyed that bit immensely!
Same whole film feels like a game suprise they not made one yet
@@nwo349 they have, but they were more like indie games and werent the best
The whole franchise feels like an old beat 'em up video game. You start with street thugs, move up to management, then you start getting armored enemies that you have to use different combos for. And there's even the cliche fat man to fist fight.
This installment in the entire franchise was a splendid masterpiece start to finish.
And I agree here =♾️
Strongly agree 💥
that just shows that you are a moron.
John Wick single-handedly saving the action movie genre as a whole🍿💥👀
I really loved the homage to the warriors.
Seeing John Wick crossing the city & fighting different groups of assassins with the lady putting the music on
Did anyone else notice the bullets that he used were called dragons breathe the same as the ones he used in Constantine. And when he shot them the scene was very similar to Constantine fighting through the demons in the hospital.
Facts 💯
Damn you are right
Okay, so technically Dragon's Breath is what they are sometimes called in real life. Made popular by video games and in particular Call of Duty Black Ops in 2010. The actual type of incendiary ammunition we'd call "Dragon's Breath" in real life does NOT light a target on fire, it's an embellishment for entertainment purposes and that aspect of the ammunition is most likely a Call of Duty inspired change.
John Wick not noticing cars coming to hit him from the right makes sense. He’s right-handed and shoots a lot of guns… He probably has tinnitus in his right ear.
As a army vet... I laughed wayyyyy too much at this lmfao!!
“Yeah” -Johnathan Wick
More like "Yyyeaaah"
Anyone notice at the end that John and Cain shot each other in the same places? The same places the doctor told John to shoot him so he wouldn’t die when he got shot.
Yeah! Thought the exact same thing. At the end, j just thought he died from
His internal injuries. 😂😂😂 cos how does one survive all that?
yooo, good catch!!
@@maameehurambabeeko9930 Getting shot there means you won't die on the spot or bleed out quickly, but you still bleed. He was shot in 3 places.
Though... I bet he's got some internal injuries, too.
Here's another. The ceiling shot, where he's blasting them with the incendiary rounds. The same song is played as the first movie where he's in the club shooting his way through. LED Spirals by Le Castle Vania
It’s also a reference to Hotline Miami
Great song. Actually the entire soundtrack is really solid.
I loved how they added soundtracks from previous movies to wrap up the franchise
That sequence looked amazing Bro. The sounds, Light's and watching them dragon breathe rounds just destroying goons was simply incredible.
IIRC it's "the red circle", "" "led spirals" and "shots fired" one after another (all by le castle vania)
The whole scene with the fighting in the streets while random cars occasionally hit people was amazing and I loved every single second of that. I did find the music at the end a bit confusing as it sounded similar to richie sambora intro to "wanted, dead or alive " but no mention of it in the credits. Great movie
that scene was mesmerizing! i cannot look away
Yes it was, i just uncontrollably yelled out "oh sh!!" It was very impressive and I can't wait to own the movie so I can rewatch this over and over again.
I've been teaching my son how to drive, anytime we approach an pedestrian i tell him to be careful not to "John Wick " anyone. 🚶♂️🚘
@@1craley878 moron, there were hundreds of assassins running around paris but not a single policeman? you kids are truly idiots.
The movie was amazing RIP to Lance Reddick
RIP Zavala
I caught The Warriors reference. Also, they turned the shootout before the stairs scene into a realistic top down game.
This is a movie with great fight scenes and enemies. Good choreography and execution but the main villain is the stairs.
Just saw the movie today. Absolutely blown away. Some of the fighting scenes were up there with the best ever created in my opinion. It's crazy to think considering that's such a huge call. I was thinking he might be getting old and possibly this 4th movie might not live up to expectations. But I was well and truly wrong
I was waiting for John Leguizamo to show up and FINALLY dleiver Johns repaired car!!
The radio DJ, had the talking woman DJ- reminisce to Warriors.
Yeah, its in the video.
The scenes shot from above looks so good
My favorite part of the whole movie is when caine sticks his finger in the breach of his pistol.
All his little mannerisms and additional movements were so well acted and it added so much personality to the role.
I caught that technical tidbit.
WUXIA: the callsign for the radio station in Paris is W-U-X-I-A, which spells out the phrase for "martial heroes" in Mandarin. It's the genre name for historic Chinese fantasy stories of wandering martial artists fighting corrupt warlords, other martial artists, and hordes of easily dispatched minions.
I noticed another one...In the fight where he is making his way to the church... the ariel shot of the room scene.. there is a fight in a room with 2 chairs and a mirror.. the same room set up in matrix where neo and morpheus talks
Oh shit, didn't notice that. Nice catch.
I think the first Reference I love was The Warriors Scene with the DJ playing songs for him as he made his way to the church through the wild chase with other hitmen
"The warriors making their way home to coney island with all the gangs after them"
Can you dig it!!!
Ok so we won't have john wick 5 but the fast and furious series goes on and on like a tasteless chewing gum. We live in such an unfair world.
Apparently we will have a JW5
@@xdemoman3692 source ? I hope so but ...
@@vls3771 I don't have one, but I read somewhere that they want to take a break from John Wick for a while, but they might sit down one day and figure out what to do with the series. I don't know about it tho, Keanu would be more then 60 years old by that time. I don't think it's true, but I've heard more and more about it.
One last installment, a series, and a few spinoff movies.
They have a spinoff movie ready. and based on how it'll do, they'll probably branch out even more
The face masks? Yeah, I was thinking of "The Immortals" in the film 300.
3:31 Director Chad Stahelski told that Scott Adkins' villain was a reference to one of his favorite movies - "SPL 殺破狼 2005". Which Donnie Yen vs Sammo Hung, and 'Sammo wear the big purple suit.
SPL was my first time seeing Donnie in a film and damn was it a beaut.
This is another one I picked: during the duel preparation between Caine and Wick, there is an chanted-style wild-west song theme that's pretty similar to the one played in the iconic duel scene between Fonda and Bronson in the old classic Once Upon a Time in the West.
I definitely got the warrior reference as soon as I saw it
I SEEN IT TOO! It was such a perfectly executed reference!!
You missed the appearance of Sven Marquardt (acting as Klaus), a famous German nightclub bouncer. He was the one who famously said "not tonight" to Britney Spears and recently to Elon Musk when they wanted to go to Berghain.
That's exactly what I told my friend. He's like the who's who of nightclub bouncers. And it's funny that it was set in a nightclub esk venue!
I've heard about Berghain, it's meant to be wild!
Love the franchise! Now, suppose I point out an even more subtle movie reference? Allow me to explain in the movie "my name is nobody " that movie was a spoof of spaghetti westerns. In that movie the character named "nobody " is following his hero across the country to a ship so he can retire from being a gunfighter. "Nobody " shows up and helps his hero out of some situations and ultimately helps him fake his death so he can retire in peace. Now in John Wick 4 "nobody " keeps showing up and helping John out if situations and helps him get to the duel which both characters die in duels. Now the difference with the first movie is the hero who is named Jack (John variation) later reveals he's still alive and about set sail to Europe leaving his enemies behind to chase "nobody". In Wick we never saw him die and there's a good chance someone is mad at "nobody" for helping Wick. If you watch that movie you'll notice the Wick version of "nobody" did too. And another similarity , in my name is nobody "nobody" is a former member of the wild bunch which he helps Jack face before having his duel and in Wick "nobody" is a member of assassins that helps Wick face them on his way to his duel. Just an observation I had.
Mark
that is a terrence hill/bud spencer movie.
radio station in the movie is "wuuxia". wuxia is an old style Chinese kong fu movie usually fought with hand held weapons
If the desert chase scene references the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Famine rides the Dark Horse (John Wick's) while Death is on the Pale Horse and War would be a Red Horse. The new Elder sits in a tent with poles but no tent--JW has stripped him of his cover.
At Killa's game table, JW gets the Dead Man's hand after trading in two cards

Derek Kolstad is officially my favorite writer in the industry. The first 2 John Wick films were the closest thing to perfection in action films that I've ever seen. I did feel a tremendous departure in Chapter 4 and just wasn't nearly as much of a fan. I did like the callbacks, action/film references, and tying some of the loose ends up in the film, but between the major visual differences and the writing style after JWC2, I started being disappointed.
The funny thing is that I didn't even watch the first John Wick until about a week before the second was released. Once I had seen Keanu training with Taran Butler, I was immediately interested and wanted to watch both in series. I absolutely fell in love with the films from there, especially when I realized that John Wick's first on-screen pistol of choice was the H&K P30L, the exact same pistol that I was carrying daily at the time (though mine was set up with a decocker/safety and I couldn't get a hold of the rail compensator that he had; which I still regret selling, but it only had a 15+1 capacity whereas my Walther PDP has 18+1 at the same size and is striker fired rather than SA/DA).
I loved the way that the guns were so realistically featured in the franchise until things got wonky in JWC3 and then fell off a cliff in JWC4, along with the usage of reality-based martial arts and gritty combat.
I've heard that they are in the works of doing a fifth film and the only thing I want from the series is a solid return back to the feeling from the first 2 films. I fucking HATED the awful color palate and stupid nonsense background work of JWC4. It felt like it was satirizing itself which totally took me out of being invested in the film. I know these criticisms will fall on deaf ears and the franchise will continue to devolve into more Fortnite/Warzone bullshit catered to the Adderall Generation that needs pretty colors and non-stop escalation. I just want that "don't give a fuck," brutal, grounded, gritty feeling that the first two films were made around. And I know that the top-down shooting scene in JWC4 was based on a PS2 videogame, so I get it. But the part of the fight choreography from the first two films that made it so impactful was getting to see real martial arts techniques used in a highly dynamic environment the entire time without needless jump cuts, shakey cam, or CG.
I want to see Tracker/Mr. Nobody take Charon's place at New York Continental. I want to see John hiding out in a house similar to the first film. I want to see one of the previous enemies (who wasn't yet killed) make another appearance. And I want to love the franchise again.
The car on the right side joke is hilarious.
I got a The Good The Bad and the Ugly vibe from the final duel with the music and the of the shots
Think there's even some sound cues during that scene for that reference.
once upon a time in the west.
My favorite is the fire fight from the top, like a homage to hotline Miami and enter the gungeon. With the over the top shooting with crazy firepower. Definitely a fitting end to the series if they aren't going to continue with a chapter 5 😎
the ending reminds me of death notes ending/lights death. he dies halfway down on the steps with the church (heaven) in the background and at the bottom of the steps is hell, few minutes later, winston and king asked each other if johns going to heaven or hell. dying halfway symbolizes that he isn’t going to neither. this is the same theory about lights death.
Didn't Light die halfway up the steps in a warehouse district though?
John Wick 5 should be a John Wick/Nobody Crossover. Maybe they owe eachother!!!
how wick is dead
@@jimbo9208 we don't know that. Definitely could've faked it
@@itsthenunez im holding on for this. Too many evidence and suggestion that john is still alive
1. Doggo glanced at funeral
2. Heaven or hell? Who knows (winston)
3. Winston just a few steps away from john on the stairs. Definitely something he can help with, considering he owes the guy so much
4. Winston being the one answering "who knows" signify he actually knows what happened, just not where he is. He might be the one helping john disappear in the first place
the way you pronounce the french words is killing meeeee
Like if you notice the tomb says "John Wick" and not his real name Jardani Jovanovich which could mean that he is still alive and has left his "John Wick the hitman" days behind. :)
May you RIP LANCE
I seriously thought that Lance Reddick played Tommy on Martin. He's such a talented actor who did amazing work. I'm surprised he didn't have bigger parts in other movies.
Hotline Miami sequence really had to have Paris or Hydrogen as soundtrack
When this last film get to streaming, I'm going to do a marathon
Johns “death” scene. Reminded me of the Anime COWBOY BEBOP. The ending scene entirely looks similar
Am I the only one who noticed the tribute to The Matrix? The scene when John Wick (Neo) is in the train station, and the train arrives, and Laurence Fishburn comes out of it (like Morpheus did)
We know Johns 2 weaknesses are getting hit by cars, and falling down many stairs.
both those scenes caught my attention when Cain tells the daughter i'll be waiting for u an the radio personality had me thinkin kill bill an warriors lol glad to see i wasn't going crazy lol
I caught this instantly and couldn't shut up about it while the movie was playing
He has industrial deafness from firing weapons and that is why he doesn't hear cars approaching from the right
Actually, Scott Adkins played a Marine Corp Gunnery Sergeant in Ip Man 4, not an ARMY (Ain't Ready for Marines Yet) Sergeant.
yes! thank you
i thought the stairs scene echoed the last episode of cowboy bebop - and subsequently questioning whether or not the character is dead or alive
Scott Adkins was op in this. Wonderful addition to the movie.
awesome series to watch.
I SAW JOHN WICK TWICE,
nobody and wick crossover would be a madness
The last duel theme is a reference to Sergio Leone's Western genre film.
another easter egg might be the lady on the radio referencing the movie named The Warriors back in 1970 as how and the way the lady spoke is highly similar
Caine, used the pencil as his weapon at some point
The Marquis de Gramont is a sharp dresser with overly elaborate tie knots, same as with the Merovingian in The Matrix
Be seeing you John Wick.
The homage with the DJ is vanishing point which came way before the warriors
How many people left before the post credit scene?
o/
Was the branding kettle used when John came back into the Family the same or in homage to the Kung Fu series/ movies used before the monks left the sanctuary? ...
Dragon's Breath was in Constantine.
Scott A will always be THE MOST COMPLETE FIGHTER IN THE WORLD! AKA Yuri Bokyka from the Undisputed movies
Stahelski has said that the John Wick films are fantasy films set in the modern day. That explains a lot - such as John continually surviving falls from great heights.
I am Klaus!!!! ADJACENT reference to Guardians of the Galaxy "I AM GROOT"
Killa Harkan can actually be a little (and possibly unintentional) reference to Turkish rap singer Killa Hakan who's living in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin where the assassination of the said character took place.
Dragon's breath....
Constantine, John Constantine, Wickhole.
So you know how Wick is always unable to hear a car coming on his right side? And do you remember how he's fired thousands of bullets in the series without any form of hearing protection? Well, the closer you are to a gun being discharged, the louder it is. That is ESPECIALLY true for rifles like the AR where the sound is typically loudest at the shooter's right ear.
The reason John keeps getting hit by cars on his right side is because he's basically deaf in his right ear and they sneak up on his ass because they're under 150dB on approach. 😆
John wick not hearing well on his right side could also mean something else even if unintentionally. Not well portrayed on screen but guns are loud, really loud, painfully loud. He's likely hard of hearing and much worse in his right ear due to the way he holds some weapons, lack of hearing protection and the amount of bullets he's fired. This same idea was portrayed in an episode of the last of us when Ellie tells Joel his hearing is not good on his right side. Joel correctly stating it's from shooting.
Those fat suits are getting insanely realistic...I couldn't even tell.
John Wick is likely deaf in his right ear from shooting without hearing protection.
it is not an important detail but when John is boarding a subway in Osaka, you can see it is a repurposed prop and you can read "xxxxx Hudson" underneath the Japanese style decal
I thought the empty train was something of a gag since Japanese trains are notoriously overpacked at almost all times.
Saïd tagmaoui recast was not unnoticeable though
The dilapidated building has the same floor tiling in one of the rooms and a similar broken mirror as the primary hard line building in The Matrix
While watching this in the cinema I was really happy to recognise the "the warriors" reference. Fucking nice.
We took the cable car...
A silver Porsche 911 is drives past John Wick in on of the Arc de Triomphe scenes. This is a reference to the game Cyberpunk; which Keanu Reeves is a major part off.
Neo….. I mean John Wick, was unstoppable in this last installment of the Matrix… I mean John Wick
Can’t wait for John Wick 5- I think there will be one-
MAY THIERE FRIEND WHOM THEY LOSE ,, R, I, P,
I was thinking of Vanishing Point regarding the DJ. There is a glorious staircase in Edinburgh, Scotland which could be used next should it turn out John isn't dead.
Are you pretending not to notice old Porsche 911 in Arc de Triomphe fight scene? Hard to imagine more direct way to reference Cyberpunk 2077 with Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) having this car as his symbol. Or do you think video games deserve less attention than movies?
We need Wick 5, there has to be a 5, John wipes out the entire high table
Donnie Yen played a blind martial artist in Star Wars: Rogue One. It's a trope.
We all notice that with the cars hitting him on the right side but I thought he's deff on the right side or has low hearing on that side
You mean the Hightable's Foot Clan? Lol
And the pencil
Ive just realised John dies in the city of love.
Rip john
I knew ittt
In regards to John getting hit by so many cars, I'm guessing his hearing has been severely impacted over the years due to frequently firing guns without ear protection. Thus, the many times he gets hit by cars is when he can't clearly see and hear them approaching until it's too late.
you dumbcunt, no need for many years, he was firing guns for hours, he would be completely deaf at that point. also, he had his gun from the king, but where did he carry the 50 or so magazines he needed for all that shooting?
Not sure if ts a small detail but Klaus, IRL is actually the bouncer to a famous club in Berlin called Berghain
wick is dominantly right handed but is also ambidexterous, caine stabbed his right hand before the duel so they'd be even, but it actually didn't matter, john already had other plans.
Did anyone get a game of thrones vybz ? I got when from the dude who only said " I am Klaus " just like hodor who only said the word hodor.
Also that scene when Klaus took John to meet Scott Adkins character, the lights behind him made him look like he was sitting on a iron throne made of light.
Also Katia acted in game of thrones and Harry potter.
Is it just me or did someone else see it?
They brought army from film 300 🤣 may be reuse of movie props.
No one recognized the recasting of the elder? Maybe to the western eyes. I immediately noticed it’s not the same guy even though I haven’t rewatched JW3.
From what I’ve read, this movie is so well done, and I’m so excited to see you tomorrow Keanu Reeves should win an award
