That they said "those who cling to life die and those who cling to death live" and they had John embrace his death at the end and still killed him off.
I wish there was a little more time at the end. Felt abrupt. Would have been nice to see Winston get his hotel back, some more flashbacks to John and his wife, more on the impact that his death had on the table and continental world
absolutely felt that way, However I hope this was on purpose in order to be able to build more movies off of spinoffs or prequel/sequels that explain the stuff that was left out in this movie. Thats what im crossing my fingers for
@Kevl4n I think this may be the plan. They introduced a lot of different characters that have storytelling promise. Also, we were able to see a bit more of this life below, at and above the high table. Hopefully, this means future sequels or prequels give us more insight.
everyone dies in the movie and no one is worth anything after the fact. you can see that everyone is disposable, even john wick. there is no aftermath, there is just after.
They should have kept the whole 4 hours and split it in chapter 4 and 5. I strongly believe there’s a few scenes in that extra hour that they cut off thay would explain a lot of things
Personally I think that is because, maybe just maybe, if they shot John Wick in the head that would be "nothing to be proud of". You know, due to his reputation, if someone could kill him without shooting his head, it could be an achievement for whoever to take his life. It will be like: "woah you know I kill Mr. Wick without shot him in the head!" Well that's just my opinion, feel free if you're disagree
@moelester3141 When he's surrounded by like 5 guys and they all freeze and let John fight each assassin one on one, one by one, its kind of silly. Maybe they have some kind of honor code, but at the end of the day John has a 14 million bounty near the end, surely SOMEONE can just one tap him mid fight with someone else or spray and entire clip into them both and just pay off the high table for killing someone who didnt have a bounty?
I believe in leaving while you're on top, and JW4 had a perfect ending to end a series. Other than the dog hinting the same way it did at the end of JW3, I don't see any other way you can assume he's still alive. What would be the plot of making a JW5? Just let a masterpiece stay one forever. I can only see sales rise when the box collection of all 4 movies comes available
I think JW4 is the natural end to it, and there was a certain poetic nature to how John went out. But given how much money the movie made, I can't see them letting Wick go.
I don’t think he’s fully blind. Legally or mostly for sure but him reading his cards shows he has some vision. But of course all john wicks main characters have plot armor. Never forget John wick is a video game.
@@cgprojects3770 exactly. I feel like most people think blind means they only see black and nothing else. But blind could just be severely impaired, like blurry as hell to the point where glasses do nothing.
@cgprojects3770 Oh, I thought you were talking about caine reading john wicks name at the beginning. Shit just because he's a king pin in a world of ruthless assassins doesn't mean he cant be considerate to the visually impaired lmao
The Marquis De Gramont is the perfect representation of today's politicians from around the world. They exact punishment from subordinates but their actions are all justified, even if they are illegal.
At the end the dog literally makes the same whine he does at ever end. Leaving a clause that he’s probably not dead. Also general rule: if you don’t see them die, they’re not dead.
I do believe he is dead. John has literally no reason to hide from anyone anymore, he has his freedom. I think the dog is just a slight nod or reference to the previous films, not meant to be taken in that way.
@@kimisha19 he's not dead.. if you check the bullet wounds that john receive during the duel with cain, he was shoot in the same spots where john shoot the doctor in part 3(to make the wounds believable) john just faints from exhaustation...
Mr. Nobody made absolutely no sense. The worse character of the entire franchise. At first I thought he was connected to Halle Berry's character Sofia Al-Azwar, to assist John so she can get her daughter back. Then I realized it is not, to my dismay.
@@jossafathguerra6128 Yeah I get he's an assassin, and he's after the bounty. But he literally has every chance to kill John, then decides, nahhh. I'll just wait a little longer until the bounty goes up more. Then he basically rips his hand in half to prove he wants to kill John. It's just absurd. He didn't make sense. Just kill him and get the $20+ mil and then move onto the next.
There was a brotherly pact amongst John Wick, Koji and Caine before they each had their own families. Caine left by sacrificing his eye sight to become a blind man once he got a daughter. Koji stayed on even after he got a daughter with his Osaka Continental well established under the High Table. John Wick has vowed to take revenge after he was shot off the roof by Winston even The Elder in Chapter 3 accepted his gesture of loyalty to the High Table via his giving up his ring together with his ring finger. The Elder did not materialize his promise to let John go free, however. That's why John Wick went back to kill the replacement of The Elder after learning that The Elder making that promise has passed on. Though not absolutely necessary, but as John has always gone to take a refuge under his most trusted and more affluent alliance as he did turn to Winston for help from Chapter 1 to 3, the series conveniently continue this trend to show off choreographically nice fight scenes for the start of a comically assassin's story Chapter 3. The purpose undoubtedly is to provide impactful visual stunts to start off a killing spree stretched over 2 hours of movie entertainment. Though logically weak but still a possible way to connect back to the end of Chapter 3. With that said, if John finally does come back for a Chapter 5, a great assassin's story will turn cheap (regarding originality and comical nature of the story) for the series in order to rack in more monetarily. Sincerely wish Chapter 4 ends the story. Prequels and spin-offs, however, can still be pursued without spoiling the good name of John Wick's Chapter 1 to 4. ❤
The elder said until wick kills Winston neither the contract nor his excommunicado will be removed. The elder simply requested his finger to show his fealty to do the assignment
Winston keeping the high table happy when he shot John. Saving John by shooting John giving him time to escape. Winston's a very smart man indeed. Knows how to "play" the game.
the post credit couldve been made a mid credit and the post credit couldve been like john living alone peacefully somewhere wth a dog and only winston and bowery king knowing the truth
Not sure if this was accidental or intentional, but there is an cultural implication between Koji and Caine. Chinese people (Caine) put family (and money) before everything, whereas Japanese people (Koji) would treat you as family if they see you as a member of the same pack, which is exactly how Koji fought for John and Caine fought against John.
No 😂 Caine and John made an implicit agreement to set it up to where John can finish off Pennywise the Clown, but still make it look like Caine really did try his best to complete his part of the deal. How would John miss all shots against a blind man when he hasn't missed in all 4 movies?
This is a pretty weird analysis… I don’t think that’s a good summary of Chinese vs Japanese. Both cultures share brotherhood similarly from a classic and modern standpoint. I don’t think Chinese particularly value family more than the Japanese either. The more simple standpoint is that Caine is malleable and adaptive whilst Koji was fervent and stubborn. I don’t think it’s a cultural thing here, any more is just over analyzing.
Yeah this analysis seems to be based on a misunderstanding of both cultures. The difference between the two characters is more on an individual level rather than cultural. The basis of this analysis ignores that there are tons of Japanese businessmen (and thus they value money), and xenophobia is definitely as much a part of Japanese culture as Chinese. "One of the pack" lol. I swear this is written based on an idealistic understanding of both cultures based on popular perception, like it's based on other media like anime or samurai movies or something.
i am counting how many times John Wick's life has been spared, which had 100% sure kill, from the first movie upto this chapter. if i missed something, please make a reply 😁 1. he should be dead right from the beginning if only Viggo's son's surprised attack had finished him to death together with his puppy (well there will be no movie if that happened, lol) 2. Viggo and his eldest son had the chance to kill him when they made him unconscious on the vehicle crash scene at church area. 3. Marcus saved him when he is ready to sleep as the lady assasin Perkins had definitely killed him who silently entered his room, or say if only Marcus had pulled and completed the contract to kill him 4. also when he was wrapped with plastic and about to be suffocated, Marcus helped him again; and only if they just fired at him right when he was babbling about his comeback, like how a real mafia should finished and taken the lives swiftly. 5. Charon helped him by using the rule of Continental when he is almost at disadvantage vs the ninja at the hotel entrance 6. the ninja duo dismissed the chance to kill him and rather they let john and helped him to stand up for 2nd round skirmish 7. Winston had the power to kill him but rather spared him and gave an hour to escape. 8. another lady assasin, the violinist at the subway should had killed him if only she target him at the head pointblank. 9. Winston also fires at his suit to forced him to fall from the hotel, that was intentional. he should have targetted the head. 10. and Bowery king/ tic tok guy immediately got him so that the adjudicator had no chance to make sure to kill him. 11. also the underground beggar helped him in the subway chase, john was almost half-dead and chilling. well, a coin from john vs a big bounty was a no brainer what to pick, but sure enough we can deduce that there was a code of conduct in the underground system unwritten rule more powerful than the bounty and the high table rules. 13. Mr.Nobody helped him against the Marquis henchman who had pointed the gun when John was down at the stairway scene. 14. only if Caine did not helped him to climb again the stairway, John would probably had surrendered his life, in virtue of his honor, when he can't make it up to their contract to meet by sunrise.
Ha ha ha ha! So glad another fan noticed all the discrepancies I saw in the entre franchise. They made John Wick"s reputation so so so great but his actually superb skill is luck. I don't know why the writers did him dirty, but I'm still a fan.
@HaselyLlewellyn To be fair, there are literally in universe reasons why most of these events happened the way they did 1. Viggo's son is a coward. He was just trying to act tough. He would've always left the person alive in a scenario like this since he lacks the guts to kill 2. Actual Legit 100% kill I give you that. 3 and 4. Marcus was literally one of John's best friends(he even seemed to know Helen). The dude was never in on the contract for the money(He most definitely had enough). He was always using it as an excuse to look after and save John 5. The rules are the rules, and up until the 2nd movie, no one broke them(barring Perkins and she was killed immediately) 6. Again, a pretty good point, too much fanboying i guess, IIRC John spared them too, but yeah should've been a kill in universe 7, 9. Winston literally saw John as his son. Do you think he'd actually want to ever kill him 8. Again, an actual kill chance that should've been taken 10, 11. John and Bowery King were trying to gain each other's favour. the Bowery existed outside the table, and Santino literally showed himself to the untrustworthy when he put that bounty on John for fulfilling his marker 13. By the staircase scene, Nobody was firmly against the Marquis, and on John's side, as John saved his dog, the actual plot hole is probably him saving his life in Tokyo(he wanted to increase his bounty) or when he saved him in Paris before that moment 14. Caine is an honourable dude. that's literally like one of his most shown traits(him trying to spare Koji's life multiple times, being described as a good man). He wanted to beat John in a fair one on one fight to see who was best. Plus, he wanted out of the assassin life as well. He saw the duel as a chance to earn his freedom one way or the other, just like John. An added bonus of killing the Marquis had he lost was probably the icing on the cake for him to want the duel to happen. So barring points. 2, 6, 8, and part of 13. None of the events a were actually 100% sure deaths for John. (who was off his game the entire series as he was an assassin just coming off retirement, unlike the ones he faced). Plus, in the end, John Wick is an action movie protagonist, ofcourse luck will be on his side
I think in universe, John Wick is not dead but Winston arranged for him to be "dead" so that there's no way anyone from the high table would try to lure him back in. He probably wants to be left alone and live peacefully and for that he must have dropped the identity of John Wick and living somewhere as somebody else. Bowery may or may not be in it. He may come back in future when an absolutely necessary event takes place, probably death of Winston, Caine or perhaps Bowery.
I rewatch chapter 3 before seeing chapter 4. Before I rewatched it, I thought Winston tried to really kill John. But after the rewatch, I do not think he was trying to kill him. I forget the line, but there was a line said that made it click for me that he was trying to dupe the high table.
"Well played Sir." Charon says. Charon and Winston are his friends and they wanted to prove to the high table where their loyalties lie. Keeping their hotel and power and not becoming excommunicado and not turning in John Wick to the high table so he shot him in his jacket taking a chance that he survives. It was selfish on Winston's part but it kept the high table off all of their backs and freed John for a bit. Even though there was a chance he wouldn't survive the fall. He was banking on saving John and the hotel and reversing the lost trust from the high table from moments before.
That scene was not written properly. When Winston shot John I thought there was a net or another safety measure on the other side that was setup by Winston and Charon without John knowing. So, it will look believable to the High Table representative by the shock on John's face when Winston shot him. To my dismay is that Winston actually tried to kill him after what we saw the genuine friendship between John and Winston with Charon in Chapter 1, 2 and most of 3. Nothing is perfect but that scene bothered me the most in the whole franchise.
I also felt that his gun was some special gun. Because he handed it to John when he said are you here to kill me? Then he was playing with it in his safe room. Then he specifically made sure he took that gun upto the rooftop. I think maybe the bullets were blanks? Because if John Wick shot him, he knows he won't die. And then shooting him off the roof, he knew he won't kill him but would make it look like he tried.
Thats the dead man walking trope of Sergio Leone films maybe a little too on the nose but eh what expect from western fans like Keanu and the directors.
1) Why flee to the Osaka Continental? Seems like nothing was achieved but to bring death to an old friend. 2) How can Winston know the duel is not a myth, but not know what happens to Seconds? 3) How can Caine read the playing cards at Killa's--the same way he can see Killa is a cheater? All I can assume is that since card sharps scuff or fold or otherwise mutilate their cards to recognize them before turning them over, Caine felt the marks and knew both his cards and that Killa was a cheat. 4) why smash up american muscle cars in Paris? couldn't find any Renault LeCars to add overfenders to look like an R5 turbo?
Was the Marquis a second to Caine? Once he took the gun from Caine did they switch roles? I mean how was Caine suddenly off the hook if his "team" lost? Did they consider the Marquis to be both the champion and the second?
John does throw himself off so technically he doesn’t shoot him off the roof attempting to kill him first shot is at shoulder toward the collarbone (harmless… essentially lol) and yeah… really hard to blame Winston.
In Mr. Nobody's DOPE book you can actually see where he's scratching off money on the other page is a home for $48.3 million, specifically at the beginning of the Osaka continental hotel scene, and that's why he is attempting to drive the price. Which probably could've been for his mother who knows but more details more details.
@@richbaker4544 Killa cheated, he had complete control of the deck and gave everyone their respective hand. The fact that Caine knew what is on his card is a dead giveaway of this because it reveals that the card is textured or has other tactile markings.
There are whole spectrum for blindness. Not every blind people see black and nothing else. Caine might be more like "legally blind" rather than totally blind. Imo Caine has can see something, just highly impaired, allowing him to shoot and fight. We also dont know what means caine use to blind himself. His milky eyes look like he has bad case of cataract and from what I heard from my diabetic grandpa with cataract, he cant see anything aside from very vague shadow (so not totally blind, just 'effectively' blind).
I think my confusion is still with the Ruska Roma. So Pyotr was the head of the family, is The Director just an underboss or some other similar high ranking personnel?
That seems to be the case. While Pyotr is the head of the entire organisation, the Director seems to just be the head of that specific theater (which could also be the organisation's New York office) and is charged with training future assassins for the Ruska Roma.
Pyotr is the leader of the Ruska Roma. The Director is the head of the New York branch of the Ruska Roma and she was never kill. The Adjucator only had her hands impaled as a from of punishment for assisting John. She definitely is not dead as we will be seeing her and John in Ballerina (a movie spin-off). The movie is said to be set between JW3 and 4. Katia is the new leader of Ruska Roma.
If they make a sequel I hope they will show how The High Table was created, a high class of assassin with rituals and polices with those whom are loyal to serve Death and Consequences, they all own each other something you do something for me I'll do something for you with an object that represents the deal, you must to remember that and cannot fail to pay, something like the 10 commands of the of The Table, but can an assassing organization get so rich to the point they have their currency, their own hotels continentals, a bidding market to kill a high class member like JW and collect the prize and so on... I would love to see that in a new sequel if it ever comes.
@@MechaGodzilla141 uh yeah, most important figure in the underworld is left all alone in the middle of nowhere by himself while his 3 bodyguards are miles away while leading the top assassin straight to him
The very end was fair, when you think about, John was hit by car probably 5 times, jumped out of 3 stories building, felt on top of the car before lending badly on the ground, felt dowm rolling like a dice that Exorcist deadly stairs, got shot 3 times on the duel ceremony, although even after all that, I still thought they somehow would still make him comes back, now question is: was JW really gone?
3:35 I feel like that definition is off… an omen is a warning of what is to come while a harbinger is the physical bringer of whatever it is. Nike is the harbinger of victory, her physical presence brings victory into lost battles.
I like John Wick and I also like Keanu Reeves character, his martial arts scenes are so realistic unlike a well-known martial artist that doesn't like to get hit in the face (Steven Segal)John Wicks character every time he fight someone he gets battle-tested he gets wounded and sometimes the wounds are fatal but he still comes out of it😅 Steven Seagal should take notes on this😅 this is how a good movie is made
(1) ABSOLUTELY no reason for Wick to go to Osaka Continental. Prove me wrong. (2) For someone being above the High Table, isn't it too convenient for Wick to find the Elders and killed them? All of a sudden Wick is in the desert chasing the Elders and their lackeys. Aren't they supposed to be impossible to find unless they finds you? (3) The Marquis felt weak and lame, supposingly they have the "High Table's power". (4) Chaser, or "Mr Nobody". Weak introduction to a new major character. Can't give a single f about this character. Felt like the producer is being shoved with money just to include this particular character in it. (5) Caine is cool, but poorly executed. He needed the 7-11 doorbells to detect enemy's position, but later on he doesn't seem to be needing them anymore with pinpoint accurate shooting? LMAO! Entire movie felt rushed.
(1) where else would he go? He thought Winston betrayed him and at that time probably also heard the New York Continental got blown up. The Bowery King literally has not enough resources to fund their campaign against the High Table. He knew Koji was one of the few people if not the last person willing assist him and be loyal to him.
@@peteartieda58 Wick literally can just "appear" in anywhere he wants to without getting caught, as what the movie as shown and portrayed. He manages to "appear" in the desert finding the almost impossible to find Elders. So why he chooses to "appear" in Osaka continental really breaks all the benefit of the doubts I've given to JW. Plus, the Osaka continental didn't do shit, and just conveniently created a female character with hatred and vengence. Talking about poor script writing.
@@ainouta123 After he's made everyone well aware that John Wick is alive by killing the new Elder, John wouldn't get around as easily as he did before. He had the advantage of everyone believing he was dead, an ambush attack would've been easier to do in that circumstance. Now the Elder's location wouldn't be that much difficult for John to deduce since he's met it once. So there's the reason he went to the Osaka Continental, he can't just pop up anywhere when the bounty on him is back and the Marquis is actively hunting him. Stopping by there was a buffer and hopefully recruiting an ally that could give him some time or resource towards his goal. How is Akira poor script writing when her story is layered. She's supposed to hate John for what he brought upon the Osaka Continental and her father. But at the same time her father made his own decisions and partially to blame for his own downfall. Then you have Caine the man that actually killed her father, that has his own personal reasons for his actions. There are valid criticisms to be made about the movie. But a little media literacy wouldn't hurt.
The entire subplot with the tracker and his dog made no sense, and added nothing to the story. It was like they felt like there had to be something about a dog, and they couldn't fit it into the story, so they just crammed another character hastily into the script so they had an excuse to have a dog.
@@svn5994 well the movie started off with JW killing off the elder in the desert. Which cause the high table to appoint the Marquis who was appointed because of his promise to take out Wick. And the table basically gave him all their resource to do so. Since he’s young he didn’t really respect rules and was causing unnecessary bloodshed. I think all the new characters works except for Mr. Nobody because he really was just there to be there. While everyone else kind of have a backstory with JW.
He is a homage to Mr Nobody of Jane Fonda and have a little of Yojimbo, just with dogs so they can explain Hale Berry character, obv. she was a tracker too. Same as Caine is a homage to Zatoichi and blind master Po of Kung Fu, they even do the molten jar scene to be more on the nose, im sure they cast Clancy Brown just to he say can be only one, Ian Mcshane play Tai Long in the Kung Fu Panda movies so the i hate stairs scene was for him, the dying of John in the stairs is probably a wink to Spike from Cowboy Bebob since Keanu always wanted to play him in a movie, there nothing confuse in the movie, is just a lot of homages to old movies and series, im sure theres a lot more homages that im missing, but the story was very simple and self explanatory.
With this narrative world fully established, it wouldn't take away much to have John Wick stay dead. With that Continental streaming series and the Ballerina movie there's a lot of "prequel" material to work out for profit.
Caine is still overpowered being a blind guy .. they made him ..almost like daredevil.. i enjoyed it a lot but still 😂 it played a lot with my disbelief
And John should've died about a dozen times already before the end of the 4th film but he's still going until the very last few minutes. The John Wick universe isn't exactly grounded in reality, even though it appears it does
Possible? The Harbinger is john wick in the future, used to be the literal ghost of different timelines. Especially if the conspiracy of John wick being in the same world as the Matrix. So its john from the future from another timeline. Similar but different
@@hungryalien You may be right, but I think it's more than that. John was treated differently by Winston than he treated the others in that world. Like family.
He was planning on killing them all. It was his turn to hunt the table. The elder stands above the high table and calls all the shots. We knew he was going after the high table by the way John Wick 3 ended and how JW4 started. Besides he stated to Koji in Japan that he planned to kill them all. However, he changed his plan when he was repeatedly told they would just replace whoever he killed. There would be a replacement before the bodies were cold.
if the rusca roma are a crime family of the high table then why does the marquis have the authority to kill pyotr is it because he gets kills to do it?
4:56 still does not explain how he had precision during the duel with wick.. i mean most of the fight he did not have audio cues.. or its superhero movie judging from the ignored fall damage and very competent assassins wick had to go through among other things
To me, the duel was the one that made the most sense. If you use what you have on the ground to figure out how you're oriented, you shouldn't have that much issues aiming at someone you know is in a straight line from here. Iirc, caine's last step was on a step-thing that was perpendicular to the long line. It wouldn't be this difficult to know where to aim. The difficulty is mostly hitting right, but figuring out where to shoot on its own is more than possible, especially if you're used to use your surroundings to assess the space around you and where others might be. It's not like john wick was to the side. He was in a very predictable position. So all he had to do is align himself to where john wick was because he'd know where he is. By how used he is at shooting, he can assess how to place his arm/fingers and the like to aim, considering he is a skilled assassin. After all, there are such things as shooting competitions with eyes blinded. If you're used to it, you can get way better at assessing positions And as you saw, he didn't hit john wick right on his first two shots. I think john wick couldn't bring himself to kill caine so he wasn't accurate (plus he was probably exhausted) Imo more believable than all the other fights he had in the movie
@@mrsweetkandy7673 it would made sense if he was not blind and they provide us other scenes to tell us how he "see" things because he is dodging bullets and parrying swords with minimal audio cues compared to the ding dong scene.. and blindfold or visually impaired shooting competition has audio cues.. its a mess
@@KidJV it's still not that "hard" considering all the clues he had available there, as a well as a non-moving target. But yes, i agree with the rest. The way he dodges everything and is able to accurately use a blade doesn't make much sense. It's just that fight at the end that i think is not ridiculous to think about
There will be JW5 because people love it and impressive box office collection will let makers to make the 5th part and I read on the internet Lionsgate thinking about making it
I enjoyed watching John Wick 4 it was great! It’s my second favorite of the franchise after the original! John was sacrificing himself to save a friend and his daughter!
Just saw the movie and it was entertaining. I predict the next couple of movies and series will be of the world. There will then come a movie at some point near the end of the film in which John Wick is older and actually alive. In the following film, you see John serving as the harbinger role. While viewers may ask how this happened, John is unwavered in his the ultimate goal of taking down the high table. The high table members, seeing John as the only legitimate threat to them, attempt to make peace by offering this title. Due to past experiences, he also realizes that this can only be accomplished from within. John agrees; to see the remainder of the mystery, take a look at the definition for harbinger and see the parallels to come. Thoughts?...
Mr Nobody helped ruin the movie. He just shows up and takes away from the main characters that have already been established. This movie tried to fit in too much too fast. It was very underwhelming and John Wick deserved a better movie to finish the series.
I thought the train station and the rave were clearly call backs to the Matrix. Neo just sitting there waiting for a train, and the rave when Morphious gives his speach. I think Mr Nobody is John''s son via Sophia. He doesnt happen to have an obsession with John, and he doesnt happen to have the same dog as Sophia. He wanted revenge on John for what ever happened between him and Sophia and wanted the most money he could get for that revenge. I think they are setting him up to take over the franchise after 5. Keanu is getting too old to do these action scenes the way they are filmed. They arent blurry, close in shots, they are wid angle continuous shots. Mr Nobody will continue the series to take down the high table. THey will have to do something about the dog though, it got old by the end of 3, let alone a whole nother sick balls.
This channel has annoyed me for a while with there narrative that Winston shot John wick to cause him harm. It was OBVIOUS that he didn’t intend to kill John. It was the best way out of the situation.
In the last round of the duel between them, John didn't shoot Caine which it leaves a consequence when Marquis took over the duel to finished him off but John did his shot. It's like you're playing a chess.
as much as Cyberpunk is meh. I'd love to se Keanu in a Johnny Silverhand film. Just a one off. Now before anyone thinks itd be weird to do or pull off, Matrix deals with similar themes.
This is only from what I read, the Marquis is given the funding by the High Table to do their bidding but he is outside their rules. The Mentor (Ruska Roma New York branch leader) assisting John in JW2 probably prompted the other High Table members to get pissed at Ruska Roma. So they found another way to deal with John and exact a punishment for Ruska Roma without doing it themselves, hence the Marquis.
With the New York and Japan continentals being punished by the high table. And the Bowery king being anti high table. I see a civil war in the wick verse for John wick 5. Something that would actually take down the high table compared to a lone assassin. With the references to both Roman and Greek mythology, I foresee a character named the Cerberus coming after the renegade high table members. While random high table members are dying or have died off screen. John doesn’t come in until the second half of the movie, coming in to save Winston.
I was wondering why when asked to a duel gun fight. Why would he choose a blind dude... Out of all the assassins. Surely there's someone else that in the world that would be a better pick
1. He knew Caine and John are friends and that could affect how John will shoot. 2. Even blind, Caine is still a better shot than most of the assassins we see in the movie. 3. Probably had to pick a 2nd that was physically there when the duel was setup.
The Marquis did say Caine had 3 things to live for that's why he chose him. I don't remember the exact things mentioned, but he believed Caine would do everything in his power to live and keep his daughter safe while John is in a suicide mission. Plus the Marquis also cheated by increasing the bounty on him thinking John will not make it to the duel in time. He thought he had him but in the chance he did make it, an assassin so close to and familiar to John would probably do the best job.
What aspects of John Wick 4 left you confused?
You forgot to mention that at the end Winston apears to be Johns father.....
I didn't understand what John was doing in Osaka. What did he accomplish by going there?
None of them because I watched the movie you spoons.
Why was this movie made? Oh, money.
That they said "those who cling to life die and those who cling to death live" and they had John embrace his death at the end and still killed him off.
I wish there was a little more time at the end. Felt abrupt. Would have been nice to see Winston get his hotel back, some more flashbacks to John and his wife, more on the impact that his death had on the table and continental world
I agree! Even though I loved this movie, the ending was really abrupt. And next thing you it’s the end. It’s definitely a fair criticism
absolutely felt that way, However I hope this was on purpose in order to be able to build more movies off of spinoffs or prequel/sequels that explain the stuff that was left out in this movie. Thats what im crossing my fingers for
@Kevl4n I think this may be the plan. They introduced a lot of different characters that have storytelling promise. Also, we were able to see a bit more of this life below, at and above the high table. Hopefully, this means future sequels or prequels give us more insight.
everyone dies in the movie and no one is worth anything after the fact. you can see that everyone is disposable, even john wick. there is no aftermath, there is just after.
the movie was 3 hours bruh :D Longer?
They should have kept the whole 4 hours and split it in chapter 4 and 5. I strongly believe there’s a few scenes in that extra hour that they cut off thay would explain a lot of things
Yeah like MI Dead Reckoning
Not really cuz John wick is really just famous for its action and halving it in two movies would render it lackluster
I think they originally wanted to do that, to give a finale
That’s a great idea
They weren't sure if the studios would have greenlight the 5th movie.. so they kinda made up their mind to just wrapped up the movie here and now..
The Harbinger probably was given a similar task as John Wick after removing his finger, then instead of backtracking, he followed through.
I think that if John Wick had killed Winston, as demanded, he would have become the next Harbinger.

I thought the exact same thing he's like the only assassin in a world of assassin's who can get a head shot
Personally I think that is because, maybe just maybe, if they shot John Wick in the head that would be "nothing to be proud of". You know, due to his reputation, if someone could kill him without shooting his head, it could be an achievement for whoever to take his life. It will be like: "woah you know I kill Mr. Wick without shot him in the head!"

@@kadekyudhistiras Yes this is possible

I'm hoping it stops too. These hollywierd directors can't stop and the fact that JWIV made over $426 million I don't think they will
I think JW4 is the natural end to it, and there was a certain poetic nature to how John went out. But given how much money the movie made, I can't see them letting Wick go.
The most confusing thing is Caine being blind but still tasked to eliminate John. The plot armor is stronger than the assassin suits
I don’t think he’s fully blind. Legally or mostly for sure but him reading his cards shows he has some vision. But of course all john wicks main characters have plot armor. Never forget John wick is a video game.

The elder simply requested his finger to show his fealty to do the assignment
the elder wants john to kill winston but he didn't, that's why they are still hunting down john wick
Wow what a nonsense you have uttered
I think they foreshadowed it in Chapter 4 ending scene that John is not dead.Just my opinion tho.
Its ok, it will be ruined just like matrix 4
I swear this is written based on an idealistic understanding of both cultures based on popular perception, like it's based on other media like anime or samurai movies or something.
i am counting how many times John Wick's life has been spared, which had 100% sure kill, from the first movie upto this chapter. if i missed something, please make a reply 😁
1. he should be dead right from the beginning if only Viggo's son's surprised attack had finished him to death together with his puppy (well there will be no movie if that happened, lol)
2. Viggo and his eldest son had the chance to kill him when they made him unconscious on the vehicle crash scene at church area.
3. Marcus saved him when he is ready to sleep as the lady assasin Perkins had definitely killed him who silently entered his room, or say if only Marcus had pulled and completed the contract to kill him
4. also when he was wrapped with plastic and about to be suffocated, Marcus helped him again; and only if they just fired at him right when he was babbling about his comeback, like how a real mafia should finished and taken the lives swiftly.
5. Charon helped him by using the rule of Continental when he is almost at disadvantage vs the ninja at the hotel entrance
6. the ninja duo dismissed the chance to kill him and rather they let john and helped him to stand up for 2nd round skirmish
They keep trying to go bigger every time it makes John over powered. They should stick to already established rules and ground the story
@HaselyLlewellyn To be fair, there are literally in universe reasons why most of these events happened the way they did
1. Viggo's son is a coward. He was just trying to act tough. He would've always left the person alive in a scenario like this since he lacks the guts to kill
2. Actual Legit 100% kill I give you that.
3 and 4. Marcus was literally one of John's best friends(he even seemed to know Helen). The dude was never in on the contract for the money(He most definitely had enough). He was always using it as an excuse to look after and save John
5. The rules are the rules, and up until the 2nd movie, no one broke them(barring Perkins and she was killed immediately)
6. Again, a pretty good point, too much fanboying i guess, IIRC John spared them too, but yeah should've been a kill in universe
7, 9. Winston literally saw John as his son. Do you think he'd actually want to ever kill him
8. Again, an actual kill chance that should've been taken
10, 11. John and Bowery King were trying to gain each other's favour. the Bowery existed outside the table, and Santino literally showed himself to the untrustworthy when he put that bounty on John for fulfilling his marker
13. By the staircase scene, Nobody was firmly against the Marquis, and on John's side, as John saved his dog, the actual plot hole is probably him saving his life in Tokyo(he wanted to increase his bounty) or when he saved him in Paris before that moment
So basically, plot armour.
He may come back in future when an absolutely necessary event takes place, probably death of Winston, Caine or perhaps Bowery.
there can always be a prequal we can still get a movie of john wicks past
I rewatch chapter 3 before seeing chapter 4. Before I rewatched it, I thought Winston tried to really kill John. But after the rewatch, I do not think he was trying to kill him. I forget the line, but there was a line said that made it click for me that he was trying to dupe the high table.
What was the line?
Can someone please tell me what happened to all the dead bodies on the staircase ? Every time John fell back down the stairs they were clear.
they despawned
Packet loss
Them mfs just spawned out of nowhere everytime a clean up was needed lmfao
The staircase was a metaphor for ladder climbing in competitive mode.

Number 3 is because he knew his cards by feeling the ink on them
@@ntggamer3613 have you tried that yourself? most casinos prevent that
Was the Marquis a second to Caine? Once he took the gun from Caine did they switch roles? I mean how was Caine suddenly off the hook if his "team" lost? Did they consider the Marquis to be both the champion and the second?
John wick not having issue with winston because he owe him for what happen at the end of 2nd movie... Winston gave him a chance to survive.
John does throw himself off so technically he doesn’t shoot him off the roof attempting to kill him first shot is at shoulder toward the collarbone (harmless… essentially lol) and yeah… really hard to blame Winston.

Door chimes were a streak of genius indeed
John Wick 5 is happening as it has been confirmed
The entire subplot with the tracker and his dog made no sense, and added nothing to the story. It was like they felt like there had to be something about a dog, and they couldn't fit it into the story, so they just crammed another character hastily into the script so they had an excuse to have a dog.
Agreed. I thought he was gonna be related to Halle Berry’s character since its the same kind of dog she had.
The whole plot for JW4 made no sense. Why is there a new elder, who are these new characters, etc. etc.

With this narrative world fully established, it wouldn't take away much to have John Wick stay dead. With that Continental streaming series and the Ballerina movie there's a lot of "prequel" material to work out for profit.

why did John kill the Elder? was it to send a message to The Table? was it because he couldn't get his ring back? was it just an act of defiance?
He was planning on killing them all. It was his turn to hunt the table. The elder stands above the high table and calls all the shots. We knew he was going after the high table by the way John Wick 3 ended and how JW4 started. Besides he stated to Koji in Japan that he planned to kill them all. However, he changed his plan when he was repeatedly told they would just replace whoever he killed. There would be a replacement before the bodies were cold.
The previously elder also took his marriage ring along with his finger. And you know how John is with anything related to his wife.
if the rusca roma are a crime family of the high table then why does the marquis have the authority to kill pyotr is it because he gets kills to do it?
And why would they be ok with John leaving them to become a marine? Especially after investing so much time and effort in raising and training him.
Mr Nobody seemed to join John's side after John saves his dog
If you're used to it, you can get way better at assessing positions
And as you saw, he didn't hit john wick right on his first two shots. I think john wick couldn't bring himself to kill caine so he wasn't accurate (plus he was probably exhausted)
Imo more believable than all the other fights he had in the movie
@@mrsweetkandy7673 it would made sense if he was not blind and they provide us other scenes to tell us how he "see" things because he is dodging bullets and parrying swords with minimal audio cues compared to the ding dong scene.. and blindfold or visually impaired shooting competition has audio cues.. its a mess
@@KidJV it's still not that "hard" considering all the clues he had available there, as a well as a non-moving target.
But yes, i agree with the rest. The way he dodges everything and is able to accurately use a blade doesn't make much sense. It's just that fight at the end that i think is not ridiculous to think about
I just have two questions. What happened to John Wick’s Mustang? Did it finish getting restored?!?
It'll be ready by Christmas

Next movie will be called Jane Wick
JW will continue even if Sir Keanu Reeves already dead. It is the new James Bond brother with the spirit of KR 🥂
There will be JW5 because people love it and impressive box office collection will let makers to make the 5th part and I read on the internet Lionsgate thinking about making it
You forgot to mention car hit after car hit....
I enjoyed watching John Wick 4 it was great! It’s my second favorite of the franchise after the original! John was sacrificing himself to save a friend and his daughter!
Seeing that clip at the beginning, where is the adjucator
The Harbinger is "John Wick" .....
I would definitely love and accept this end to the whole story.
Where do I watch please
I'm pretty sure that ''second elder'' is actually the same elder from JW3 but different actor.
No it's not. I don't remember the exact dialogue but they clearly stated it's not in the movie
Nah you need to pay attention more he literally says your ring has gone like the elder before me
for me the battle between the blind man and the tokyo guy really almost destroy the movie.
we need the yeah extended cut
Roll on Chapter 5 🙂
Mr Nobody helped ruin the movie. He just shows up and takes away from the main characters that have already been established. This movie tried to fit in too much too fast. It was very underwhelming and John Wick deserved a better movie to finish the series.
if JW not dead. still alive, i wonder what will be his enemy on the next chapter... any thoughts?
Didn't Winston call him son at the end?
Yes he did
I thought the train station and the rave were clearly call backs to the Matrix.
Is there a 5 or no?
Explain to me how caine know the exact card on his hand 🤔
John Wick Chapter 5:John Wick VS Robert McCall VS Bryan Mills 👍👍👍
I feel john wick 4 made 3's ending pointless.
1) Not going to survive the roof fall
2) The continental was reinstituted..... then blow up?
The most confusing is... Does he throw his bulletproof suit in the washing machine after every chase or every fight?
Am I the only one thinking that Winston was John's father?
probably
really love their philosophical dialogue. but the fight scene kinda repetitive for me
You're gonna carry that weight.
Why is John wick able to kill the marquis? Isn't that against the rules of the duel? I thought hes suppose to duel the blind guy..
In the last round of the duel between them, John didn't shoot Caine which it leaves a consequence when Marquis took over the duel to finished him off but John did his shot. It's like you're playing a chess.
That ridiculous Marquis NPC was totally moronic.
as much as Cyberpunk is meh. I'd love to se Keanu in a Johnny Silverhand film. Just a one off. Now before anyone thinks itd be weird to do or pull off, Matrix deals with similar themes.
You didn’t mention when John saved nobody’s dog
Dexter! Yay!
If ruska roma sits at high table how pyotr was killed by high table...
No 1 broke the rules without paying the price, not even the high table, thats all the movies are about.
I think John and Marquis should’ve just fought each other instead of the duel bullshit but the movie was dope
My question is: Why the adjudicator (woman) did appear in John Wick 4
Nobody is Halle berry’s character’s soon
John Wick is a relative of Ezio...lol
Who tf put Gordon Leeman on the thumbnail?
Why no Klaus?
This was all started by a boy killing his dog
Who the heck is "I AM KLAUS"?
