Too much fun, thanks for the info and how to use it !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm originally from a 780 acre farm in Alberta. My (late) mother's cousin has a 5000 acre farm. 66,000 acres is really big for a ranch. That is a lot of space. Those are nice looking ranches, for sure. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers! ✌️
Thanks for sharing this Will
Gorgeous.
Any Montana ladies wanna shack up with a Scotsman just holler 😂
In all seriousness, dream destination for me, love the landscapes you guys enjoy there.
66,000 acres? I'm not mowing that lawn.
Not able to see much without subscribing.
Definitely moving to Montana.
Wow, at that price there better be a lot of gold in the ground. :)
Cromwell Island is listed at over $206k per acre with no meat on the bone for the new owners. The owners must be very patient. It would be a bummer if Powdr went broke buying Cromwell. :)
If you do buy a ranch, it's a lot of work and a lifestyle commitment to actual run it as such. Our neighbors are always busy and hard at work, makes me look like a lazy bones!
People think 10 acres is a ranch. Lol
Most of the properties listed here are not setup for being an actual productive ranch. Beware the con job, many of these firms are counting on the hype of the pop culture created around Yellowstone. A ranch by definition has to produce a hay crop or livestock or both and improvements have to be made in order to keep the agricultural status and not get hit with residential taxes. Realtors are counting on people with millions to spend buying these places when any real rancher would never buy them if they were looking to make a living at it. Ranching is lifelong commitment to the land, not a hobby. In Montana our natural resources are the pinnacle of the state and living here so if you are successful enough to afford these prices be very aggressive about bringing the prices down because you are being ripped off if you pay asking price. Establish a relationship with the local community and ask a lot of questions. The community will have historical knowledge around what the water rights look like (more rights have been given out than there is water available and the oldest water rights take privilege over the newer - this is especially important if you are looking at installing irrigation), the productivity of the grassland (ask how many head of cattle that land can support) and if you can put it into a conservation easement you would be a legend to the locals. sure it'll lower the price for now but 10 years from now when everything is getting developed around you your place will become a diamond because it hasn't been developed.
Thanks for this awesome comment. I was wanting to raise some highland cattle out there when I retire from my service
I'd want a ranch if, for nothing else, to set up my own little shooting range. I would just need to make a good backstop.
And with proper licensing/tags I think you can hunt elk/deer on your land if over 160 acres.
Not to be confused with the ranch in Laguna. 😂
Exactly!
Ranches in Montana isn’t like the yellow stone
