I always recognized it was Simply Red, but anyhow, one MV fan said in a video of his that he thought MV's sports episodes sucked. Even the Down for the Count episode. This was my fave MV sports episode. Down for the Count was tragic and epic. Hard Knocks had relatable moments for me.
Love this episode. It's so in tune to what was going on in the 80's and now with gangs and young drug kingpins. Crockett & Tubbs, the best cop duo ever. They chased down criminals, got into shoot outs but their suits never got dirty. Them some bad dudes ! ... lol
In my opinion, MV paved the way for more complex, multilayer tv. Shows like Crime Story with Dennis Farina, Wiseguy with Kevin Wahl I don't believe would exist without MV. Problem is network TV could only take it so far, & it had to go to cable. If MV were to air today, it probably be a cable show.

This episode. The funeral with “Long Long Way To Go” by Genesis/Sting … And the episode with the song “Cry” by Godley & Creme that had the pretty blonde chick with the dude burying folks in the sand … My three all time favorite episode/song matches. 🙌🏾
Of course, this was more devastating to him than when Eddie was killed in Season 1's Milk Run. But one reason why Crockett threw that fit of rage was because like Archie, he had a goal to play football (and Crockett did have the opportunity to go major until he sacrificed that dream for serving his country during the Vietnam war). Of course, despite his efforts, Archie's death made him realize that his efforts to save Archie's goals were all in vain.
If that was me I would have been feeling the same way, but in a different sport, my advice I would tell to this teenager just stick basketball & getting good grades in school
This episode still has me glued like I’ve never seen it before. I remember it when it first aired. Man time flies. SIMPLY RED vocals was award winning for this scene. Magical
Even 40 years later this scene still breaks me. I remember watching this episode when it first aired, and when I heard the gunshot I yelled "NO!" at the TV knowing he was dead. And Sonny's fit of rage in the limo just sealed it. One of the better episodes Miami Vice had.
I wanna see the Castillo stare-down in this episode after the juvenile parole officer breaks his promise and forces Archie to meet up with Count Walker.
The death of that kid was very sad. I'd never seen Crockett react like that after a death. Usually, he's so calm and even tempered. Tubbs was very supportive and suggested that he go home and he'd take care of the paperwork on this, but Crockett just tuned him out.
Yeah -- the kid had the world in the palm of his hands, only to be all taken away by one sting gone wrong. Crockett must've felt like the blood was in spilled into his hands and lots of guilt.
@@psykonauttija2012 It's the horrors of the Drug war. Still happening despite the fact they lost a long time ago. These Drug dealers exploit minors. So does law enforcement. It's so true to life. Law Enforcement has had confidential informants that were minors killed in stings like this even to this day.
Lol i know i keep commentin on this video...i wont ever shutup..😆😆...but i watch this scene practically every week! The music is perfect for the scene, Sonny's reaction to see Archie dead...he lost his shit...This is the BEST episode of Season 3 in my opinion...Tubbs was tryna have hope Archie was alive but he knew when lookin at Sonny.
13 years old video showing on my feed in 2024. Cool that This was probably the best edited scene of all the MV series. It’s absolutely perfectly timed with Simply Red’s “Picture Book”. It also has a very somber dark cloud of the pending doom for Archie. Then later with Crockett’s …ah it abruptly ended 😢
And when he gets to the guardian's house, "You'll understand if I don't let you inside." And the grandmother gives him back the football. Then he walks out and the cop who pushed for the additional sting tells him the streets are quiet, and it was a good collar. He walks out into the night past the TR.
Do I have to Miranduze this SOB too? Get it? Wire? Phone tap? Pegasus? Surveillance warrant under seal. Do something stupid or sudden? You get shot? Not my damn problem. Play az phone tap? It's too expensive. Do it ya damn self. Besides! You won't fix my volume yet you want a DJ. 🤔
A great episode with too much collateral damage. Archie was not qualified to go undercover with count and his bodyguard thug and they could tell that he was nervous and something different about him. Archie got himself killed getting mixed up in the rackets.
My favorite episode of Miami Vice. Never knew this was Simply Red. Haunting song.

One of the best and most atmospheric scenes with a great sad end
This episode showed how dark season 3 was

TV went down hill after this show left the airwave's.....
it's never been the same since
too true ... still going that way ... but how do you recreate this brilliance ???
True that!

My favorite episode. I wonder how many kid drug dealers had it like that in that area. Had to be loosely based off of a real teen dealer.
This is still happening today. Law enforcement still uses minors as informants on the war on drugs.
One of my favorite episodes of Miami Vice.,...the song was perfect for the scene.
Always had the perfect songs!
This has always been one of my favorite episodes. Probably the one I most remember. Thanx for posting.
100% the emotions Crockett shows in the limo was my favorite and the ending scene top notch.

Simply Red had some good songs Long hair dude in Definitely Miami was rocker Ted Nugent. 🎸
I like this Sonny took it personal and hard, I feel him!!!!

@@figment1988 Yes, there's a lot to be said for that.

Sonny had a fatherly side for kids with good hearts who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sonny was a soulful person. No one could pull off this role except Don Johnson

Damn, this was such a great episode. As usual, the music was right on point.
This show spawned the best music for a regular T.V. show ever.
Very sad ending, I felt bad for the kid but also for Crockett
This episode was gut wrenching especially when he went to visit his relatives at the end.
The death of that kid was very sad. I'd never seen Crockett react like that after a death. Usually, he's so calm and even tempered. Tubbs was very supportive and suggested that he go home and he'd take care of the paperwork on this, but Crockett just tuned him out.
devastatingly real in any age ... too bloody tragic ... emphasizing the brilliance of this show !!!!
I remember looking for this song but couldn’t find this particular version
Thank you so much for sharing this😊
Powerful ending. Powerful show.
This is what separated MV from all the other shows.
Great acting from the informant kid who I recognize but can’t name, don’t even remember this episode from the third season 😂
Crockett was absolutely gutted at Archie death
Yeah -- the kid had the world in the palm of his hands, only to be all taken away by one sting gone wrong. Crockett must've felt like the blood was in spilled into his hands and lots of guilt.

I'll never forget that.😿
Switek appears nonchalant at the end as he walks by.
@@CaptGage I think it's more to do with him feeling uneasy around Crockett at that moment.
First episode I can remember watching with the old man.
Use to watch them with my dad and brothers.
Lucky those cops were there to protect the gangsters from Crockett...
I know im late but to see this episode for the 1st time...maaaaan 🔥😲😭💯
I thought the third season was a really good season to be fair. Some fantastic episodes.
were not they all ???
The first half up to ‘Down for the Count part 2’ were fantastic. After that, the episodes became more of a hit and miss.

I think this episode was the one that broke Sonny, his deterioration started here and went all the way through to the end of season 5
The blonde hair guy who made him do it had no remorse
Yeah the blond-haired guy is the one that truly got Archie killed but Archie's grandmother and his coach blamed Crockett instead of him
Film quality for MV always top notch. All other shows grainy.
One of the main ideas about the show was to film it like a movie.
That kid was scared thats how he blew his cover/got hisself killed
Of course he was. He was looking at a year in juvie and losing his chance at a football scholarship.
