For me, the best part in this film was the deep chemistry between these 2characters ! Just amazing and I loved it ! I keep dreaming of having such a chemistry between myself and such a woman !
The soundtrack, the style, the cut... this is so 2000s, and i am loving every second of it. This movie has one of the Top5 Soundtracks and Scores in my opinion.
Colin Farrell had massive shoes to fill in Don Johnson's but he did so admirably and he never got enough credit for this role. He is amazing as Sonny....and Gong Li as Isabella is incredible. I love the part...."Do you dance?"....I dance...... That is the definition of masculine. They were perfect too.
Colin played a good Sony Crocket for me, he fulfills the characteristics of the character, a half-rebellious cop who follows his instincts, rather than the politically correct rules. Same with Jamie Foxx, he plays Tubbs well, a good duo they made, but a pity that the movie didn't work very well, it has good things but ups and downs too, it's not perfect. If Michael Mann was given a second chance, with a sequel and he did well this time, it would be great, it would have to be closer to the original TV series for it to work.

Chris Cornell’s voice and Audioslave! Vintage early 2000s. Michael Mann was awesome with this! This movie got so much hate. I’d STILL love to see a sequel!
The interchange between Sonny & Isabella in the boat, characters revealing themselves in showing & not telling, her demeanor of straight forward coolness and Sonny cool-slight vulnerability. I think I love the original Miami Vice more, but it’s just a personal thing. The show was genuinely fantastic and had way more appeal than just being an ad for the latest MTV hits, but part of the reason a lot of us watch it (especially those who didn’t grow up with it like myself) is to soak in that 80’s atmosphere that Micheal Mann and the Miami Vice team so perfectly captured on screen. The film is a different kind of beast and doesn’t quite have that same flair, but its not really trying to and damn is _great_ regardless! I think people were just so hesitant because the original was so iconic and perfect in its own way. Saying that, I think this scene got the closest to recapturing the specific energy of the original!
I watched miami vice for the first time this summer after postponing it numerous times due to low ratings on imdb. Oh what a fool i was and how amazing this movie was. Definitely. I think the public was sick of seeing Colin Farrell in seemingly *everything* from 2001-2004 so when this came out, everyone went "oh boy another Colin Farrell movie. I can hardly wait." I watched it when it came out and thought it wasn't very good. Watched it again years later and I absolutely love it now. I sort of think of it as a "Trilogy" of the Cop and Crime dramas, starting with *Heat*, continuing with *Collateral* and finishing with *Miami Vice*.
I watched this film on release in 2006 and didn’t think much of it. However this scene always stuck in my head. I’ve recently rewatched Miami Vice and I couldn’t believe what a great film It is. Not sure if the film has aged well or if I have !
Some movies don´t hit the nerve the first time around in spite of them having all the right ingredients. I agree, they need to mature, or the audience need to mature. The boat scene has so many layers that it took me probably 5 or 6 rewinds to get them all. Now that´s a good scene to be so superficially simply, yet so subtle.
It's so damn good. This movie blows Collateral out of the water; contends with Heat and Thief for my favorite Michael Mann picture. Everything is so memorable, from the rooftop cellphone convo, the Ferrari on the freeway, Nicholas in the drug kingpin pad, Yero in the Haiti basement, Tubbs flying the A500, Isabella in pretty much everything, Calabrese in that ridiculously good trailer park showdown. I watch this once a year minimum.
