Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell go deep undercover in the explosive, action-packed Miami Vice that "sets fire to the screen" (James Verniere, Boston Herald). When detectives Ricardo Tubbs (Foxx) and Sonny Crockett (Farrell) are asked to investigate the brutal murders of two federal agents, they find themselves pulled into the alluring and lethal world of drug traffickers. Michael Mann's Miami Vice is "sleek, powerful, dark and dangerous" (Geoff Pevere, Toronto Star).

I have a small, slow, leaky 4-cyl boat on a small lake, Rayban knockoffs, and a heavy girlfriend. But in my mind I'm living this scene when we go get a Pabst.
You speak for many of us, I am sure!!
@@RC02216 Ain't that the truth?
Good on you, full throttle son! Remember! one in the bush is better than two in your hand
Hell yeah!🥰
what about the suit fella?
This whole scene is magic. Nothing says "Miami" like a powerful speedboat, wow! It makes me homesick, though Miami is not the same as it was back then.
Colin Farrell had massive shoes to fill in Don Johnson's but he did so admirably and he never got enough credit for this role. He is amazing as Sonny....and Gong Li as Isabella is incredible. I love the part...."Do you dance?"....I dance...... That is the definition of masculine. They were perfect too.
💯
He was great. Different. But great. Totally underrated
I remember leaving the cinema totally devastated. it's almost 20 years and I still feel the same.
Nope
Colin played a good Sony Crocket for me, he fulfills the characteristics of the character, a half-rebellious cop who follows his instincts, rather than the politically correct rules. Same with Jamie Foxx, he plays Tubbs well, a good duo they made, but a pity that the movie didn't work very well, it has good things but ups and downs too, it's not perfect. If Michael Mann was given a second chance, with a sequel and he did well this time, it would be great, it would have to be closer to the original TV series for it to work.
The cinematography of Michael Mann is just pure class.
For me, the best part in this film was the deep chemistry between these 2characters ! Just amazing and I loved it !
I keep dreaming of having such a chemistry between myself and such a woman !
The kind of experience most of us want to live. Mann is a master .
You'll find it.
The kind of experience most of us want to live but almost none will. Us the commoners are eternally doomed to mediocrity.
Ahahah
@@anycolouryoulike8567 I disagree, the emotions, the chemistry, the passion, with the right woman, if youre lucky, we all get to experience something akin to this, you don't have to own a ridiculously fast speedboat or sport a terrible mullet and redneck stache
Le savoir faire Michael Mann. Le but est d'emmener le téléspectateur a se projeter.
The soundtrack, the style, the cut... this is so 2000s, and i am loving every second of it. This movie has one of the Top5 Soundtracks and Scores in my opinion.
That move at 3:00 was such a boss move. When he buckled her up, she was ready to give it all up right then and there...
chris cornell man :(
Was Jan hammer involved
It's 80s dude. Your are naive
+1
Best scene in a movie EVER!!! When those motors get spooled up, he gets the girl, the music etc. Perfect Miami !!!
This gotta be one of the coolest scene sequences of cinema. I mean, the style. Michael Mann, he just knows.
You said it! Perfect!!
My thoughts exactly
Mann unlike most Hollywood directors has an eye for aesthetics. He should be teaching classes at film school on how to direct.
Topgun maverick says.... Hold my beer😂😂
Ehmm...Have you ever watched the original Miami Vice ? That's the style
Chris Cornell singing is chilling.
He was so talented. RIP Brother
He’s amazing.
This one of the best scenes of any movie......the sound of that boat gives me chills everytime....
MV movie here is resonating very well ...I must say .. but the real mv is the one from the 80s where I'm from
sadly we cant find women as sexy and classy as this girl.......
Yes sir.

This doesn’t come close to the original
Chris Cornell’s voice and Audioslave! Vintage early 2000s. Michael Mann was awesome with this! This movie got so much hate. I’d STILL love to see a sequel!
Good movie, I went when it came out and then saw it a few years ago, and will do again some tome 👍🏻
Several places where it seemed sections were cut out. Could’ve been a hour longer easy, just filling in some holes.
Chris’ voice was great in here
Clicks in the seat belt and drops the hammer 👊🏽 The “power move”. Text book. 😍
When he buckled her up and they let it rip, I felt that ... I’ve lived that ❤️ before!!!!
Brazen!
This is what makes the movie: The TV show never had me convinced that Sonny cared for anyone, but here he goes deep cover and gets lost in the act and it's among the best romances ever, any genre. (Though Farrell manages it again as John Smith and his complete surrender to Pocahontas in The New World)
Bravo to you than, Daniel
"they let it rip" ..... hol' up
Stepping past the point of no return !! All life's cards layed out and rolling .. crazy feeling
Such a great movie. Michael Mann is a legendary director
Micheal Mann filmmaking style is pure class.
“I know a place”, 😂that line never gets old💯
This is my favorite Colin Farrell role. He had some really big shoes to fill trying to be Sonny Crocket but damn he pulled it off great!
In the movie theatre this scene was incredible. Captured the essence of the old school MV.
In 2006, I saw this 7 times. I loved it.
entire film or scene?
The entire film @@CityTrader
Me too. Miami vice or not movie was great.
@@Wolfmen77 I agree!
“You like da Mojito?” 😂
I don’t know why I still quote that line in the same way whenever a friend orders a mojito.
Underrated, without a doubt
Yep! This movie was awesome! But unfortunately it didn't do well enough at the box office to warrant making any sequels!
Because there's no substance. Pretty film though
Definitely. I think the public was sick of seeing Colin Farrell in seemingly *everything* from 2001-2004 so when this came out, everyone went "oh boy another Colin Farrell movie. I can hardly wait."
I watched it when it came out and thought it wasn't very good. Watched it again years later and I absolutely love it now. I sort of think of it as a "Trilogy" of the Cop and Crime dramas, starting with *Heat*, continuing with *Collateral* and finishing with *Miami Vice*.
NO
lol, no. Movie is a joke...
This movie is probably one of the best movies ever made
I’ve watched the movie ages back but watching this clip, the shot, the fashion, that wide shot of the boat and the open ocean, the music…it’s pure class…and the casts…both played it so dam well…movie magic at its finest
I don't know why this movie isn't rated higher. It is a dark, gritty, and beautiful film.
Because Miami Vice wasn't really a dark show. It had dark moments, but really it was about style and glamour. The movie was very different.
I think people were expecting something more like theoriginal movie vice because yeah the film had a dark vibe to it. But I love it.
@@TheNerdForAllSeasons I understand. Some of my favorite Vice episodes are its darkest like "Little Miss Dangerous", Calderone's Return, Bought and Paid for, etc. Now that I really think about it, it was a dark show with glamorous/flashy elements.
i love the movie but it does have floors if you think about it, gong li is an awful leading lady, isnt charming or nice or relatable the fact cant even speak english and had to be fed her lines shows in every scene. jamie fox and colin farrell also had no chemistry and detested eachother and that also shows in camera, to be fair it was all due to fox being a prick on set for the whole movie. the movie didnt do well because of bad casting of jamie fox and gong li. its a well written script if can imagine that the two leading men liked eachother and that crocketts love interest was actually likeable and charming it would have been enough to change the perception of the movie, imo
@@robinhooduk8255Gong Li has some sex appeal but I can’t get over the fact that she is playing a cuban girl… Eva Mendes, Michelle Rodriguez or Penelope Cruz for a classier look (just because the other two are younger ofc), could have been a better choice. I’m aware it’s not the best movie out there but something makes me want to rewatch when I see it playing on tv. There’s some magic to it that I can’t explain.
Gong Li - In a word: perfecto!
Cannot articulate the style of this scene. Just awesome
It’s the music.
This is the one scene in the film that captured the manic energy of the original series. Well done.
I’m 70 going on 25 when I watch this movie.
me too...............
Ife as l wat you are saying
Mann got this reboot spot on, absolutely gutted it wasn’t appreciated by the mainstream and we never got a sequel. This sequence is both gorgeous and tastefully shot
Casting was a little marginal. Jamie Foxx is usually Jamie Foxx reading a script. But good cinematography.
gutted? dafuqn gross 😂
It doesn't need a sequel, and it has definitely found an audience at this point. It took a while but it's better late than never.
I think I love the original Miami Vice more, but it’s just a personal thing. The show was genuinely fantastic and had way more appeal than just being an ad for the latest MTV hits, but part of the reason a lot of us watch it (especially those who didn’t grow up with it like myself) is to soak in that 80’s atmosphere that Micheal Mann and the Miami Vice team so perfectly captured on screen.
The film is a different kind of beast and doesn’t quite have that same flair, but its not really trying to and damn is _great_ regardless! I think people were just so hesitant because the original was so iconic and perfect in its own way. Saying that, I think this scene got the closest to recapturing the specific energy of the original!
Gong Li really was a great actress in this movie. Her character was so elegant.
Finally a clip in true HD. One of the best scenes in a seriously underrated movie.
I watched miami vice for the first time this summer after postponing it numerous times due to low ratings on imdb. Oh what a fool i was and how amazing this movie was. This is my favourite scene from the movie and theres just so much emotion to be felt. The movie isnt flawless but its definitely an under appreciated gem.
IMDb's shit sometimes.
THATS WHY PEOPLE JUST DO YOUR SHIT DONT TAKE IN ACCOUNT THE TRASHY RATINGS
@@groupnhillclimb6418 exactly
They rated it low because this was a more serious take than the goofy TV show. Just typical snobbery.

Yeah... Me too....
This and movie HEAT
Casting was perfect for this one. Mann is the man!
I literally watch this scene over and over... there is just something about it. One of my most favorite scenes of all time! ❤
Which song is this?
It's so damn good. This movie blows Collateral out of the water; contends with Heat and Thief for my favorite Michael Mann picture.
Everything is so memorable, from the rooftop cellphone convo, the Ferrari on the freeway, Nicholas in the drug kingpin pad, Yero in the Haiti basement, Tubbs flying the A500, Isabella in pretty much everything, Calabrese in that ridiculously good trailer park showdown.
I watch this once a year minimum.
The music mate the music pati labelle and mobi
I thought I was the only one lol just a love scene that makes you wish it was yours
HELL YEA coolest scene ever
Unforgettable film, true masterpiece.
LOVE this MOVIE, History will always be kind to this MASTERPIECE.
Let's hope so...
No question
i never got the hate, this movie is great orignal miami vice was not so serious this is kind of adult version of miami vice and collin forrel doesn't have to be exactly like don johnson
I love how as soon as she says she’s single he drops the hammer. A man after my own heart.
This is one of my favorite scenes ever put to film.
Underrated gem from the great Micheal Mann.
I don't understand why this movie have too many haters. It's amazing and great acting. Plus i liked Colon Farrell & Jamie Foxx acting.
I thought it was good movie but it could have been masterpiece. However, some of Colin Farrell and Gong Li acting, chemistry was awful, the score was bad, the script needed to be redone for pacing, and it didn't have the original ending. Plus no one can fill Don Johnson's boots.
they just underestimate their power...
No it's not. Just the shooting scenes it's dope
I too liked Colon Farrell. He was the shit in this movie. A solid number two to Jamie Foxx's character. He deals with a lot of crap and I don't know why, maybe we'll never get to the bottom of it. If they ever did a sequel I will be sure to push my stool closer to watch. Hopefully it doesn't leak and require an early release.
@@whyishow Legendary insight. You my friend are an authentic Colon lover.
This movie is so underrated. I'm glad this movie is getting rediscovered.
I'm still puzzled about where did Sonny get the grenade from in the first meet?
@@ontarionagasaki1441 So they came in waves. Sonny and Rico and a few girls came in first. They got patted down. The other part of the crew came in after but we didn't see them get patted down. Then when it all went down one of the crew that came in on the 2nd wave had the grenade and threw it to Sonny. But or sure there's some holes that still exist.
@@gnryushi that works for me
Wdym underrated lol, pretty big movie when it came out
Like most movies by Michael Mann they are not for everyone. They are like a piece of art with layers of messages ♥ that requires the time, attention and the soul to find them. Brutal in their own way, Miami Vice tells the story of impossible love and the accurate cruelty of criminal organizations.
Michael Mann was born for this. Such a legend
This definitely captured the 80s feeling of the original show. I've always enjoyed this movie.
The voice of Chris Cornell is all... Love this scene❤
One of the most sexiest and sensual sequences in all of movies. The buildup plus music is a critical part.
this movie has a great soundtrack
Great scene in a great movie. My kingdom for a sequel.
That first helicopter shot coming down from the sky to the boat is still awe-inspiring
I watched this film on release in 2006 and didn’t think much of it. However this scene always stuck in my head.
I’ve recently rewatched Miami Vice and I couldn’t believe what a great film It is. Not sure if the film has aged well or if I have !
Some movies don´t hit the nerve the first time around in spite of them having all the right ingredients. I agree, they need to mature, or the audience need to mature. The boat scene has so many layers that it took me probably 5 or 6 rewinds to get them all. Now that´s a good scene to be so superficially simply, yet so subtle.
This movie is up there with heat.
Quite simply in the top 5 most underrated movies ever made. Even Mann just couldn't make this movie anymore... it would never get the green light and there just aren't the actors to do it any more.
Man Collateral and Miami Vice was f'n awesome
Damn Colin Farrell was the player in this part, fast-thinking man with slick boat yeah he got the girl

They do Miami Vice justice. What a sound track
Micheal Mann is a master at breathtaking footage and music. His movies are really good. Manhunter, Collateral, Last of the Mohicans and Heat my personal favourite. 🙏
Michael Mann movies like this ... just so visceral.
One of very underrated movies out there, and one of my favorites.
Naw. It's rated correctly.
Truth, it's underrated. If they took the name Miami vice off it imaginr
You’re right , it was ahead of its time .
They ruined the series for me. Only Don Johnson could play Sonny Crockett. It’s like someone other than Stallone attempting to be Rocky!
@@871jamie what’s wrong with someone giving a different interpretation to the character?
The sensual longing between the two dancing people is palpable, which is further enhanced by the vibrant Cuban musical rhythm. A special prelude!
