    Great review! I really appreciate that you do a singing test as well - just talking into it (as most reviewers do) doesn't tell you very much if you're a singer, which many people looking at mic reviews will be, many thanks

      I've never been very good at singing unless there is music in the background so my singing tests are kind of crappy lol. But Hey I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

    Why would you compare that V7 against a SM57 and not the 58? the 58 is more suitable as a Vox mic rather than the 57 which is more suitable for an Instrument Mic. Yes, The Capsules are the same its the Windscreens that make them difference. I have also noticed inconsistency between SE's Products.

      Podcasters love the 57, the us government uses the 57, the presidential mic is actually the 57. my 58 was not available when making this video. I have it back at the house now but it was out for a bit

      That's awesome, I would say this is my new favorite dynamic microphone, SC electronics really seems to be a step above most microphone manufacturers I've noticed, I know they hand make their capsules in in the United States. I think the mic body and stuff was made somewhere else but still it's cool that they hand make these things and they're just not using mass-produced ones like a lot of other manufacturers. I bought a few microphones and I've been sent with you microphones most of them are all really nice. But this is probably one of the first Mike's where I haven't heard any weird high frequencies or low frequencies that don't really belong, when you're listening on some studio monitor or monitor headphones you can kind of hear every little teeny tiny thing and this is just a very clean sounding microphone.

    for you sir Danny? with vocals singing/podcast and some voice over? seV7 or AKG D5? what do you prefer?

      The se v7 is a relatively new microphone and it's becoming super popular. Now the thing is everybody's voice and room acoustics are different so I'm not really sure which microphone is going to sound better on your voice and in your room
      Me personally I would take the SC electronics microphone over the AKG. I think the V7 is great for UA-cam logging podcasting pretty much anything except for voice acting. Professional voice actors tend to use very detailed condenser microphones,. This microphone will make you sound really good but I'm not sure that it picks up enough of those little details for voice actors but for pretty much anything else you want to do with it I think it's a great microphone. I saw an interesting test where they blindfolded people they took a $1,200 microphone and a $60 microphone, on one guy's voice the $60 microphone sounded way better than the 1200 microphone and he guessed that the $60 was the expensive one. For everybody else in the test b1,200 microphone sound way better than the $60 one so it just depends on how your voice takes to the microphone and your room acoustics so finding that perfect mic can sometimes be hard. I would listen to as many reviews on the mic as possible before you purchase it just so you can hear out sounds on a bunch of different voices

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  5 місяців тому

      Those are great microphones but I don't think there is a single microphone that's going to be perfect for everything I mean depends on what you're doing, each person's voice can sound a little different and each person's room acoustics can be different so there's a lot of factors in finding the right microphone for you, even if you're just recording instruments I mean takes a little trial or error sometimes to find the perfect mic. But the beta 58s are very nice and I think most people would probably like them

    M v7 mic picking a lot more of handling noise.

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  5 місяців тому +1

      I don't seem to get much handling noise on mine, generally i have the mic gain at recording levels so my peaks are hitting around -20 or -14 on the loudness meter, on the editing software i boost the volume of the mic to production levels. i'm not sure if it would make a difference or not when running higher gain but i have heard a few review that say there is not any handling noise like i'm getting and i have heard a few people say they have a big of handling noise..

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  5 місяців тому +1

      i'm going to record a short video about handling noise on this mic and post it tomorrow, you might find this interesting.

      @@dannylightning-audio-reviews sure, thanks. Will watch.
      Maybe my gain is really high.

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  5 місяців тому +1

      @@kennethdarlington when recording generally you do keep the gain down a little bit low and use a plugin to push it up now it's been so long since I've done live sound I don't really remember where we would set the game levels on a microphone but for recording we do generally keep them a little bit on the low side and then push the Volume up. But if I really crank the gain on my interface there is going to be a lot more handling sound so I guess I'm kind of spoiling my video but it does go a little bit more into some of the stuff and I tested against a couple of other microphones and check out their handling noise. But yeah it's possible you're just running the gain a little high. Now when I played live I used to take a tube premium with me so I was able to adjust the gain levels on my own microphone and then the sound guy would kind of do the rest so I never ran extremely high gain levels when I played out live and I can only remember once or twice they asked me to crank it up a little bit because they're PA or whatever couldn't seem to get me quite loud enough but there's a pretty good chance that I gain could be a problem for you

    • @kennethdarlington
      @kennethdarlington 5 місяців тому

      @@dannylightning-audio-reviews maybe you could also include some sound testing between different gain levels into your future video? Because for my ears, with high gain(with handling noise), v7 sounds kind a bit richer in sound. Closer to your sm57 in this video in terms of perceived "fullness" if it could be compared that way.
