Fun fact was watching Nintendo Direct with a friend who's never played Ace Attorney let alone Investigations. And he immediately reacted with "omg they put gameplay in Ace Attorney". Yeah he's kinda right to be frank.
At least your friend acknowledged it lol. My friend literally just said, "Oh, this is you." And didn't say a single thing throughout the trailer as I was hyped.
I don't know why people were doubting this. They remastered almost every other game, and localized them into tons of new languages. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was probably a financially riskier move, considering it didn't have any iconic characters to help sell it, but they released it anyway. Even the obscure game Ghost Trick got remastered, and that game's biggest selling point is, "Made by the creator of Ace Attorney."
I agree, even if the Investigations games weren’t as well received as the mainline games, being able to play as Miles Edgeworth is still gonna be a big selling point for a lot of people because he’s a fan favorite character
They were financially rather safe about the GAAC. They did not bother to keep the highest quality assets and it was only localized into english. It was very clearly a budget release they did for either the lolz or because the fans just kept asking and never stopped.
What i thought was that it was a situation kind of similar to Mother 3, where the game was so old and everyone who would've cared about it would've probably already played the fan translation by now, also because it's a DS game it's very easy to emulate (i was playing the DS games emulated just fine on my phone like eight years ago, i'm pretty sure), while the GAA games were on the 3DS, which isn't as simple to emulate.
@@lpfan4491 Yeah, i know, but like i said, you could play AAI2 on a DS emulator on pretty much any PC/cellphone for the past decade or so, 3DS emulation on the other hand it's not as accessible, i know my current phone can't run Citra at the very least lol.
5:17 Oh man it really says something that I fully recognize the general gist of this dialogue. I spent a not-insignificant portion of my life translating I2 Case 1. So, one of the AAI2 fan translation team here. It's bittersweet knowing our work is no-longer needed, but I'm happy we helped create more interest for this game in the west. It's truly one of the best in the series and I highly recommend checking it out. (Sadly Investigations 1 is pretty meh, so you're paying for half the bundle) And I also have mixed feelings on the name reactions. On one hand, it's nice to see so much love for our fan names. On the other... please don't be hostile to the official ones. I actually like Verity Gavelle much more than Justine Courtney. As for Eustace, the REAL question is... how will the official localizations handle his CONSTANT PUNS ON HIS OWN NAME??? He's, in general, a nightmarish character to translate for so I wish the official translators luck. THEY'LL NEED IT. (Debeste/Winner is kind of my baby but also a source of immense pain)
Wow, never expected one of the fan translators to see my vid! You guys did a great job and made something very beloved by the fans, so you should all be very proud. Thank you for the insight, too, that’s really interesting to hear!
@@Barbieronpa Just found this while looking for opinions on the announcement. I've already watched a couple of your Fangan advice videos too, liking your channel so far. I've got a LOT of stories from the translation. My favourite moment is probably when part of Case 5 led to me discovering how shoe sizes worked in Japan (it's just the length of the foot in centimeters, which is way more logical than most imo), and looking up which US shoe sizes they each convert to.
@@BigKlingy Good to see the translation team are being positive about the name changes. I wish the fanbase were being as mature about it as you guys are. And I agree, Verity Gavelle is a fantastic name.
@@davisbowe8668 There's actually a decent number of the fan names I'm not that proud of and am looking forward to the official takes on. I'll miss Horace Knightley though. That was one decided before I joined the project and it was PERFECT.
I mean we know have every ace Attorney game(exceptbthe layton one) on modern consoles. There is no better time for an ace Attorney 7 announcment so I still think that you might be right. And honestly I like the new names. I of course also love the old names and they will always be in my heart. As for the new names I actually really Like Eustace (but the winner part only alright) Eustace Winner like Useless Winner/Whiner But also Eustace->Yoostice->Justice. It can sound like justice so we also uave Justice Winner. Also there is an ACE hidden in eustACE! And we can have nicknames like Ace, Acey, Stacy. And honestly the Name Eustace just kind of fits him in my opinion(as does Sebastian but thats not the point)
Wouldn't be surprised if the AAI2 being released within a short window of its announcement would indicate Capcom not wanting it to cannibalize sells with AA7 if it where to happen next year?
I am definitely excited for this release. I threw my hands up at the ceiling and had to remember to keep my voice down, as it was 7 in the morning and I did not want to wake anyone up.
This is a massive deal. Almost every single major AA game is now on modern consoles AND localized, except the Layton crossover obviously. Not only am I super excited to finally have pretty much every Ace Attorney game on one console, but this gives me even more hopes about Ace Attorney 7. Now Capcom has nothing else to give us, but a new AA game and I can’t wait for that time to come! :)
I actually don't mind the name Eddie Fender and I think Verity Gavelle is better than Justine Courtney. I can see why some won't like Eustace Winner but I think it'll grow on people once they play the game. I actually really like some of the other names of the official translation better as well, like Rocco Carcerato over Jay Elbird, Tabby Lloyd over Nicole Swift, and Bodhidharma Kanis over Sirhan Dogen. That being said, I'm really curious as to what Blaise's first name will be. His Japanese name is literally translated as "forever number one" and with the last name as "Winner" I feel like they're going to stick with something in that vein.
I feel like the backlash for the names (which aren't so bad IMO, just different) was inevitable. The longer they put off localizing it, the more people would had been exposed to the fan names, so more and more people just accepted them. And the reaction is just natural because now everyone will have to get used to the official names. People will surely get over it fast. But people threatening to mod or boycott because of the names are taking it WAY too far. It's gonna be fine.
I dunno... mods for some games have been made for less and I wish I was kidding. Not that I disagree that it's excessive but it's almost guaranteed to happen.
@@BigKlingy i fw the official names heavy though, all of them are either funny af to say (eustace winner) or really great localized names (like verity gavelle)
Yeah those fan name’s never existed. You think Capcom care about a bull fan translation? No. It never existed to them so the fan names were never canon.
Eustace Winner gave me the biggest laugh I can recall ever having, I'll take it gladly. I really like the fan translated names, but I'm interested to see the Capcom Localizer's own spin on making puns for every character in Investigations 2. As for Ace Attorney 7, between re-releasing every game and the timeframes they take to come out continuing to decrease, I feel like you're right on with Ace Attorney 7 surely coming soon. This time next year is a fair bet, but I do think there's a chance we might even see it late this year.
People will hate it, but the name Eustace is very fitting for his "spoiled brat" character. I just wish they picked something a little less on the nose for his surname. The French translation has Eustace Victor as his name which I think is much better.
I was blown away when this was announced. I never thought we would get a localized version of AAI2, more than a decade later. This makes me happy because now fans can finally experience the awesome spinoff. Of course I will. I've done it before on DS and will do so again. Also, for Ace Attorney 7, I want one thing... the return of Franziska von Karma. I want to see how much she has grown, changed or hell, be more whip happy than ever.
As a new fan (Just started AJ after beating the first trilogy, loving it!) I'm kinda glad I waited this long to get into the series simply because I have no opinions on the new names at all due to never playing those games in the first place.
I am a little sad that we don't get the fan names, but obviously it makes sense why they couldn't. I do agree that people are so... overly hateful about the name changes? Like, I'm afraid this'll give capcom (or the higher ups) the wrong idea that people didn't want the game in the first place. I do still agree with the theory that AA7 will be announced sometime next year. Capcom now has 0 excuses now that all but one AA game is available for modern players (though I wouldn't complain about PLvPW getting a remaster/port-) Your character sprite sets are so pretty though!! The artstyle is also super nice and cute. The editing style also flowed pretty nice imo!
It's possible they'll reuse some of the characters from Investigations, hence why they localized AAI2 first. Or perhaps they just want everyone to catch up with the entire story before AA 7 is released, due to some references and such. Either way, AA was rated highly by the players (especially Japanese players) in the latest "Capcom Super Elections", so they'll definitely cook a new entry up fairly soon.
I think they pushed to release all previous titles on modern consoles to boost AA7 sales. They've completely revived the series for new players, hence the new players will want AA7 too
I'm just wondering who will write AA7, since last I heard Yamazaki (Investigations duology, DD and SoJ) left Capcom. Shu Takumi (original trilogy, AJ, Layton crossover, GAA duology) could come back, but there's been so many new characters and plots since he stopped writing the main series that some aren't sure how he'll handle it. So we'll see. I think SoJ had some extra writers who could maybe come on full-time?
The comments on the official trailer are so damn obnoxious because it's almost all people whining over the new names. Glad to see more positivity here.
I actually really like Eddie Fender because it makes him sound like some slick character from a 40's gangster movie, but they've also got a so-on-the-nose-it-hurts pun in there. It's great!
I think I don't understand why so much backclash into accepting new names. I'm part of the french community of Ace Attorney. We didn't had a french translation of the games for DD, SoJ and the Investigation intil the Apollo Justice Trilogy (We still don't have one for the Great Ace Attorney Collection 😢) and the french community are really welcoming for the new translation/names even if we are used to the english names at first. And same thing with the Investigation. So I am like "please chill out this is just 1 game that change names not 4" 😅 Oh and funny thing in french Verity Gavèlle is.. Justine Delacourt. The literral translation of Justine Courtney 😆 (Oh and we have Uncle Freddy too xD)
I think it is because all who played the fan translation got used to the names used there. And in my opinion they are also somewhat better they feel like actual names and not like obvious jokes like the new names do. But that is just my opinion on the matter.
No language besides english got a TGAA localization and it has been long enough that it is safe to say that they won't patch it in anymore. I'd say it is time for fantranslations. The biggest blocker for me to make a german fantranslation that will also be an issue for other languages is that, er... I have not found a working tool yet that does not corrupt the archive-files that the most important text is in. Because of that, I went back to the 3DS version of DD for the sake of it instead, even tho it is technically obsolete due to the recent collection having an official localization.
@@lpfan4491 In France, we have a fan translation but they don't finish it (i know there are 2-3 cases already done) and idk if they will continue or not
Ever since The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was announced, I realized that they were doing something big for the franchise. After releasing the original trilogy for everyone, they finally released for the world two games that never were localized in their original console. And three years later, the new trilogy has the same treatment of the original. From there it finally was clear that they're wanting to make the whole franchise available, and that went to them finally release the Investigations games and localize Investigations 2 at last. The meaning of this is simply INSANE! And of course, the official localization would mean to say goodbye to the fan-translation names we loved for 10 years. And while I'm not a fan of the new names, I'm still so grateful that we finally have Prosecutor's -Path- Gambit and for everyone to play. And, besides the Layton crossover (which I asume will be a standalone release or not ported), the path is finally craved for Ace Attorney 7! It's the only conclusion. Ace Attorney fans are rejoicing for this!
Im replaying AAI2 to celebrate and I bully Sebastian everytime I can.I know he's been through so much but, if there are not bullying then it isn't funny
I don’t know if anyone else in the comments has mentioned this yet, but I would also like to point out how clever they were with the localized title, “Prosecutor’s Gambit” It’s a nod to the fact that many chess openings have similar names (Queen’s gambit, King’s gambit, Scotch gambit, etc), so it fits extremely well with the chess themes of the game
To this day I want to punch myself for staying up late to watch the Summer Games Fest thinking we'll see Ace Attorney. At least I redeemed myself by watching the Investigations Collection announcement live.
Honestly, this video made me feel a lot more positive about this remaster. I got so tied up on the names when I should be happy this is coming out to begin with. Not to mention, you have the ability to change yo sprite form!
Credit to Capcom where it’s due, the quality of life upgrades they keep implementing in these collections are fantastic. It blows what they did for the original trilogy out of the water, and hopefully will continue to be a part of any new AA releases.
They really like depicting this man with his jacket half on here huh? Have at him fangirls. But anyway, hype for Investigations 2. As for AA7 i think you're right about next year being it. Pretty much since 2021, they've been chucking Ace Attorney at us consistently. Not even a year between Apollo and Edgeworth collections. Actually, i even think it was less time between Ghost Trick HD (Ace Attorney adjacent) and Apollo. They cooking something i hope.
My theory as to why investigations 2 being localised is that they want to introduce Sebastian/Eustace to western audiences, as I believe he is going to be the main rival prosecutor to athena (who I believe is getting the spotlight) in ace Attorney 7
Maybe. Also the remastering of the logic animation bits seem to suggest there WILL be a possible PL vs PW update in the future. Plus with a possible AA7 due to AAI2 getting released, we'll get that one loose thread that needs to be taken care of.
I absolutely love how Capcom has basically made Switch the definitive platform for replaying old Ace Attorney games. They have the Original Trilogy, the Apollo Justice Trilogy, the Great Ace Attorney Collection, and now even the Miles Edgeworth Investigations Collection. I'm not quite sure if I've counted them all, but IIRC that means the only one NOT released for Switch yet is a remake of PLvsAA, and that is a slight stretch to even include in the list.
Why is it a stretch to include the crossover? They have shown to treat it as a proper entry, as they included characters from that game in the 20th anniversary artwork. Also many of TGAA's gameplay elements, and even a few character designs came from the crossover
Actually, with Layton 8 around the corner, and Capcom clearly wanting to stall for as much time as possible with AA 7, I wouldn’t be surprised if an agreement is in the works behind the scenes as we speak.
From this, I think finally releasing aai2 in english, will pave the way for aa7 to come out, as there are no other projects for capcom to possibly be working on now, apart from aa7
I think the fact that this came so soon after the Apollo Justice trilogy release has me all but 100% convinced that Ace Attorney 7 is a 2025 game. They easily could’ve held this until 2025 to space out its release further but releasing one collection in the first half of the year and another collection in the second half feels very intentional. This also isn’t to mention the fact that the Switch 2 releases next year, and AA games have historically been timed exclusive for Nintendo platforms (though I wouldn’t be shocked if they abandoned that strategy in favor of a multi platform release much like Atlus has as of late.) I also may be coping.
One thing you forgot to mention was the voice acting. Yeah, it's just the Objection shout (or Overuled for Courtney/Gavelle), but the fans still got fond of the voices. I doubt Capcom's localization team went their way to search for the fans who VA'd the fan translation (ProZD as Gregory Edgeworth was a very fitting cast).
I played the fan translated second game with a friend from start to finish! Great stuff! And great that Capcom gave both Investigations titles the HD treatment even after all these years!
As someone who absolutely hates Debeste's new name... Yeah no, the amount of hate and mockery I've seen of these names is ridiculous. Like, someone even went so far as to change the names of all other AAI2 characters on the wiki to... annoyingly unfunny names. It's fixed now, but there were such jabs as Dane Gustavia as Gord Rammy, Horace Knightley as Poauny Knight, and the ever-spoilery... Simon Keyes as Manny Pulator.
Old school AA fans know that AA announcements typically come during Tokyo Game Show, which happens at the end of September. The fact that the AAI Collection releases almost 1 full month before means there's no chance they hold back a potential announcement to "avoid taking the focus away" from the AAI Collection, so there's a VERY solid chance we get an AA7 announcement in TGS 2024.
as someone who got into the franchise just last year, this genuinely feels the perfect time to do so! i already played the original trilogy and the great ace attorney, and shortly after i was done with them they announced the apollo justice trilogy! and now this??? i feel so spoiled haha
I will always keep saying Sebastian Debeste since it's "The best" get it? But in all seriousness i'm excited for the investigations collection i need it. But have you tried Ace Attorney Fan Games? I would love to see you cover those
Ace Attorney Investigators 3 added with 1+2 would be extra spicy for a Nintendo Direct, but holding on hope for it to comes out and Ace Attorney 7 too somewhere in the future
I’m not particularly begging for an AA7 right now, despite being relatively burned out on replaying the games over and over I do still feel enormously happy we have nearly every single game localized on modern hardware. Here’s hoping for the professor to make the jump.
I think (and I really hope I'm right) they want to bring the characters from AAI to AA7, and they need AAI2 to be localized for that to happen. I've said this time and time again, that they do not need to add a new prosecutor and/or defense attorney every single game when they already have so many memorable and beloved characters that still has a lot of potential. Players have been asking where's Franziska, Gumshoe, Lang, Kay, Sebastian/Eustace, and would be ecstatic to see them in the current time and interact with the rest of the cast!
I called that last year when the Apollo justice trilogy was announced and am so looking forward to this duoligy while I did enjoy the fan names (while I haven't played it) I actually don't mind that though I'm wondering how eustice father's name would now be go by cause Blaise debest was a very fitting name for him.
personally im very excited for the spinoff re-releases, havent rly seen any negativity from people at large. also the courtroom bit at the end was sick i do that in my head a lot LMFAOO
As a huge AA fan who finished TGAAC back in 2022 and has played all AA games but no.4, I used to check in once a few months on the likelihood on AA7, and was always unsurprised there was nothing in the works. However when I heard the AAI collection coming, I was over the moon - probably more so than at a potential AA7, as I've never played AAI2 or seen any gameplay! So my love and faith has been completely restored and makes me think that a potential AA7 is now likely coming more than ever! I agree with your assessment that we'll definitely hear something in the next year. Capcom didn't wait for a Capcom event to announce TGAAC (as far as I remember) so it could be a couple months after AAI collection release
For Eustace winner I never thought about Eustace being useless but instead thought of winner as in whiner. So combining it Useless whiner is a bit much for him.
I can believe the stage is set for a new Ace Attorney game to take the spotlight. Since with the Investigations Collection now a thing, we now EVERY past Ace Attorney game on modern consoles! The original trilogy, the Apollo trilogy, the Great Ace Attorney duology, and now the Invsetigations duology! Its complete now!
People hate on Eustace, but Eddie Fender is worse to me. Because Raymond Shields complimented how Edgeworth is a referring to swords (the "edge" in Edgeworth referring to the edge of a sword and his Japanese named Mitsurugi contains "Tsurugi" the word for sword). He was the shield to Miles' sword. And it's a shame to see that meaning lost
if i may give my two cents on the whole name fiasco. while i will be using the fan translation names in my fanworks (whenever i get around to finishing them) as thats what im used to and personally prefer, im just happy aai2 is officially here regardless! its probably one of my fav ace attorney games jhkhjk- so whether you call them verity or justine, eddie or raymond, eustace or sebastian, let us rejoice in having this banger game be here officially!
I've always wondered, what would AA games be like if you played as a Prosecutor in court instead of a Defense Attorney? Maybe move overseas to a different country and make the antagonist a Better Call Saul-esq character who specializes in getting criminals acquitted.
I wouldn't put it past Capcom to give a little nod to the fan translations. A line like, "Some may even know me as, 'The Best.'" Or something like that. I think it would be cute.
Of course I have pre-ordered the game, it is a game where I have the spotlight. Not that joke of a defense attorney. Now if you'll excuse me, I have tea to drink.
Let me remind you that Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was announced in April 2021 and released in July 2021. Also 3 months. So if anything, it's Apollo Justice that was the real outlier here
As a pikmin fan, i suspect that capcom is using the apollo trilogy and investigations duology to guage interest as well as warm people up to ace attorney by making the old games more accessible to boost ace attorney 7 when it does come out
I feel like part of the reason that the name "Eustace Winner" has seen so much negativity is because there were some people holding out hope that the character might get a standalone game or something, and with the name "Sebastian Debeste" that was almost that was almost believable, but not so much the new name.
love how they keep secret of the release of the collection =]] The annoucement make the nintendo direct much much better, surely only fan of AA will praise that much for such small reveale but only those understand how long for this to come to surface wil know =]]
As someone’s who only learned of this game thought a Pokemon video (before watching retrospectives on the game) I was so fucking happy to see in the direct. Kinda sad people are mad with the translation but maybe it’ll die down!
It’ll be pretty funny if they decide to release the professor Layton crossover instead of AA7 But I actually find it pretty interesting how quickly they’re putting the ace attorney games out on switch, makes me think they want people to be fully caught up with the series, so I just wonder what they’re planning with AA7
@@katethevampire I mean, tbf, that is the weakest new name, and I say that as someone who adores Verity Gavelle and thinks Eddie Fender is on par with Ray Shields.
There's always the thing where it becomes cool to hate on something and you see a lot of bandwagoning people jump on it and then if you actually talk to them a lot of them never even played the game they're complaining about. They're just farming internet points so they want to say whatever is the "hype" thing to say. Then there's the people who somehow tied their personality to something and any time something changes about it or something else that they see as competing gets attention, Super Saiyan Hipster 5 comes out and they have to loudly declare that it's terrible and that everyone who disagrees is a baby or has bad taste. It's very unfortunate when it happens, especially if it unfairly tarnishes the reputation of a game that's legitimately good. So I would say just play the official release and decide for yourself what you like better. I'm fine with the new names, I'm more curious if the official translation will address the complaints about some of the later cases dragging on a bit. Also people already did this same song and dance with Herlock Sholmes and the official release of Great Ace Attorney 1 and 2 is fantastic.
It's surprising how much some people get fixated about things that they shouldn't be wasting their energy on: We had a fan translations for years (an amazing, good one) which is not official. Capcom finally decides to bring the second game to the West with a collection, new sprites, orchestrals, just leaving it all out there for two "obscure" games and some people decide to complain and hate something that was NOT official in the first place instead of focusing on the best news ever, you are getting these games man, Jesus xD. Sure, those were cool names but that's it, be thankful that Capcom has ported the whole franchise to modern consoles/PC and shut up xD. On another note, I was so happy seeing that announcement even though I've played them both, played 2 only like 3 years ago and beat it last year cause I stopped playing (pandemic and such) so it is fresh in my mind and even though I don't remember much of the first game due to playing it back in the day, Ace Attorney is one of those series/games I cannot replay (I don't replay many games either) because I know already what's gonna happen so it ruins that effect of the plot twists and such. I wil still get it to support Capcom and let them know we love this series, might even gift a game to someone I might meet that loves the franchise and hasn't played the games. Anyway, good to see a fellow Ace Attorney lover, I don't know anyone in person that loves the franchise so this is the best I can get lol.
My prediction was always right. I always knew that AAI2 would be localized and bundled in with AAI1 before AA7 was even announced. Obviously, AA7 may likely already be in development, if not in predevelopment phase. I find it hard to believe that this new collection could've been completed in half a year. Crunch culture notwithstanding, I believe that Capcom essentially knew they had an epic project on their hands: with GAAC, it will make no sense to not remaster the older games before starting anew, so I believe the Investigations Collection and Apollo Justice Trilogy were being developed simultaneously at the same time, with the latter being prioritized of course, especially since there was no need to localize a formerly Japanese-only script. The proof is in the updated mini-sprites. They're so detailed and had so much work put into them, that there is no reason to ever go back to the pixelated SNES graphics of the original DS (and IOS remasters for some reason).
Right, that makes a lot of sense. AAI collection was to be expected, they wanted the players to catch up before the next game, and not cannibalize the sales of the new game when it drops (though I'll admit, I thought AAIC would drop early next year, not in 2024). In the recent Capcom Super Election, Ace Attorney was pretty much always in the top 10, and usually in the top 3/top 5 among Japanese voters. We'll see whether they take these results into account, but I think this is an indication that AA 7 is coming in 2026 at the latest.
Okay, thoughts on names: 1. Verity Gavelle - It's good and gives the same vibe as the fan name. 2. Eddie Fender - He gets to call himself Uncle Eddie and you can't tell me otherwise. 3. Eustace Winner - Fine, I guess. It will mostly depend on whether or not his dialogue makes up for it. The best part of the fan translation was how he used his name as a pun for being DeBeste. As long as that is retained, I'll be happy.
This is the 9nth and 10th port, at this point I’m mostly just glad they’ve ran out of games to port and they HAVE to make smth new now, but with our luck, they’ll just go radio silent for years again lol Watch like, 2027 have a vs port then more radio silence
Hating the official names will blow over soon, if the reaction to the official TGAA names compared to the Scarlet Study names is anything to go by. Though, in that case, the likers of the Scarlet Study/transliterated names are those who care about accuracy to the japanese version, who are a totally separate group from most western Ace Attorney fans, and only had relevancy in AA circles while Scarlet Study was being released. Typical AA fans online hyper embrace these hyper localized elements that are unheard of for most game series, even calling it "the only way to localize a game like Ace Attorney" in some cases. This however leads to an emotional attachment to the localized names for more typical and active AA fans, that wasn't seen with Scarlet Study. So that might be problematic and lead to much longer lasting outcry over the names. But if that happens, a modder might take the time to mod in the fan names, which was a thing for TGAA, but it fell through, and no one really cared that it did.
Honestly, I wish there was a seperated effort to have more faithful fantranslations of the games just for the sake of it. Instead, people straight up do not care.(When people elected to make GBA patches, they made so sure to make it the same as the DS releases that it is actually a surprise that they didn't just port over 1-5 for the lolz. Like, they added audio and visual-effects to the script that straight up did not exist until the DS ports.)
I think it's pretty silly that people are upset over the new names for Investigations 2, like what did you expect? They were never going to use the fan translation names, people get way to set in the "different is bad" mentality for their own good imo
Well people say this part of the Ace Attorney Series is the weakest I’m still looking for to playing it. Also an Ace Attorney 7 would be really cool. Thanks for the video Barbieronpa. =]
"People are overly negative about the name changes" - bruh, nobody is actually upset. We're just clowning, it's a bit of banter. Obviously, we'll use the official names and acclimate to them - it's just fun to say "I'm not calling him Eustace"!
I wouldn't count yourself wrong just yet. The most obvious explanation behind Capcom's releasing remastered collections of all the AA games over the last few years would be to renew awareness of the AA franchise in the gaming community. From a business standpoint, it is a natural preparatory step for the announcement of a new game and the continuation of a franchise that has been semi-dormant for a little bit. We can hope! And even if nothing comes from this, I still think it's awesome Capcom has now given us HD collections of every AA game on easily accessible modern consoles.
They will be releasing a remaster of Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for modern devices next year, so Ace Attorney 7 will be released by 2026. Source: I am just guessing 😂😅
While I think the Eustace Winner jokes are hilarious, I kind of think Ray Shields as Eddie Fender is the worst of the three. Ray's naming was supposed to be more subtle like Phoenix Wright, Mia Fey, and Miles Edgworth (not to mention, his ties to Miles can be really seen in his name. After all, an edge meeting a shield is the symbol of a contradiction, and that symbolism is used for the prosecutors trophy) Having his name be a simple pun just makes him feel like a Doofy witness and not the major character to Edgewroth's life that he truly is. Edit: OK you saying "Uncle Ed" completely changed my name on his name lol
Let's be real guys, Capcom will likely advertise a complete collection of all the Ace Attorney collections, just to promote the series, even if we all have our opinions in certain games, we do need to continue giving our support to make sure AA7 lives to see the light. Also, Capcom better start dropping the no spoiler nonsense for future games now that the entire series is on modern consoles
If he's never played then how does he know what the gameplay is like?
I have a feeling they had to release the Investigations games, especially AAI2 to the west because they'll include those characters in AA7 somehow.

@coolcatred4922 In an interview I recall them saying if there's one character they wanted to return it's Eustace/Sebastian
@@AlphAlphaAlph @aa_facts ?
I'M HPYERVENTILATING AT THE THOUGHT RIGHT NOW! Just imagine Sebastian/Eustace in AA7 or the return of Gumshoe or Franziska! I'm so excited!!
God i know its not likely but i really hope thats the case 😭 lemme see my boy eustastian
@@MVKBPR By the time the collection came out, it was infact far enough along emulatorwise to support a visual novel.
(Sadly Investigations 1 is pretty meh, so you're paying for half the bundle)
And I also have mixed feelings on the name reactions.
From a preview screenshot I found "Winner. Eustace Winner. Prosecutor Extraordinaire." → "Winner. Useless Prosecutor Extraordinaire."
I mean we know have every ace Attorney game(exceptbthe layton one) on modern consoles. There is no better time for an ace Attorney 7 announcment so I still think that you might be right.
And honestly I like the new names. I of course also love the old names and they will always be in my heart.
As for the new names I actually really Like Eustace (but the winner part only alright)
Eustace Winner like Useless Winner/Whiner
But also Eustace->Yoostice->Justice.
This is exactly what I was thinking! Especially since this is coming the same year as the Apollo Justice trilogy
I am definitely excited for this release. I threw my hands up at the ceiling and had to remember to keep my voice down, as it was 7 in the morning and I did not want to wake anyone up.
Same, except late in the evening and also I didn't care.
Eddy grew on me when i realized it's meant to go alongside Edgeworth, specifically Gregory.
Edgeworth and Eddy
@@TheKabuto90 Yeah, it's gonna happen anyway because some people are just weirdly petty like that.
As someone who worked on the fan translation... please stop bashing on the official names, people.
What matters is we are finally getting I2 in the west and more people can experience how amazing it is
Eustace Winner gave me the biggest laugh I can recall ever having, I'll take it gladly.
I was literally not able to get through saying his name without laughing when recording this video
I'm taking german, and I'm having a hard time not calling him "oy-stace vinner" because eu is pronounced oy and w sounds like a v.
People will hate it, but the name Eustace is very fitting for his "spoiled brat" character. I just wish they picked something a little less on the nose for his surname. The French translation has Eustace Victor as his name which I think is much better.
“A judge, a defense attorney, and a loser.” Big 3 right there
I was blown away when this was announced.
Capcom now has 0 excuses now that all but one AA game is available for modern players (though I wouldn't complain about PLvPW getting a remaster/port-)
Your character sprite sets are so pretty though!!

So I am like "please chill out this is just 1 game that change names not 4" 😅
Oh and funny thing in french Verity Gavèlle is.. Justine Delacourt. The literral translation of Justine Courtney 😆 (Oh and we have Uncle Freddy too xD)
J’ai peur qu’il fasse l’annonce de AA7 et qu’on est jamais une trad de TGAA 😢
Because you don't get names like the Troupe Nouwae, Robbo DeFuzar, Nahyuta Sirdtimmezasharme or Broshua Teath
"...And a loser."
You're completely right. But also, how dare you.
Im replaying AAI2 to celebrate and I bully Sebastian everytime I can.I know he's been through so much but, if there are not bullying then it isn't funny
I don’t know if anyone else in the comments has mentioned this yet, but I would also like to point out how clever they were with the localized title, “Prosecutor’s Gambit”
It’s a nod to the fact that many chess openings have similar names (Queen’s gambit, King’s gambit, Scotch gambit, etc), so it fits extremely well with the chess themes of the game
Eddie Fender is a pun on defender…
Plus with a possible AA7 due to AAI2 getting released, we'll get that one loose thread that needs to be taken care of.
this means that if they want to bring any characters from investigations into aa7 they can
Yeah, Blaise would name him that.
Actually, 3ds is for now until they realease the crossover on switch
@@srsuwuchannel7060 right. 3DS has all of them, I think, except for Investigations
@@TheFerdi265 As far as I know, there is a way to put the investigations 2 into the 3ds. I don't know much about that actually.
Why is it a stretch to include the crossover? They have shown to treat it as a proper entry, as they included characters from that game in the 20th anniversary artwork. Also many of TGAA's gameplay elements, and even a few character designs came from the crossover
Actually, with Layton 8 around the corner, and Capcom clearly wanting to stall for as much time as possible with AA 7, I wouldn’t be surprised if an agreement is in the works behind the scenes as we speak.
agree with all your points great video
It really does seem like they're building towards another ace attorney game. Great video!
From this, I think finally releasing aai2 in english, will pave the way for aa7 to come out, as there are no other projects for capcom to possibly be working on now, apart from aa7
I love both investigations games so i can't wait to buy the collection when it releases 😊
This also isn’t to mention the fact that the Switch 2 releases next year, and AA games have historically been timed exclusive for Nintendo platforms (though I wouldn’t be shocked if they abandoned that strategy in favor of a multi platform release much like Atlus has as of late.)
I also may be coping.
I am loving the Ace Attorney investigations collection! I have a new respect for Miles edgeworth nowadays and prosecutors in the Ace Attorney fam
I actually like Eustace Winner because he will always be my weenie boy.
Eddy Fender is the most fitting name for Ray in my opinion.
Verity is fine.
One of the fan translators here and I like Verity more than Justine Courtney. (too generic imo)
@BigKlingy it was a perfectly acceptable name, but I definitely think the official name suits her vibe a lot better.
Right wiki vandalism is so unfunny and it's annoying for the ppl who work on it
Old school AA fans know that AA announcements typically come during Tokyo Game Show, which happens at the end of September.
I’ll be getting the collection for sure it I get this and the Apollo collection I will have all the ace attorney games in one place

I don't know much about Ace Attorney, so I'm just gonna say this: Love the new sprites!❤️
I’m not particularly begging for an AA7 right now, despite being relatively burned out on replaying the games over and over I do still feel enormously happy we have nearly every single game localized on modern hardware. Here’s hoping for the professor to make the jump.
I think the collection is a good idea because everybody loves nostalgia as long as people don’t bend you over the head with it
I think (and I really hope I'm right) they want to bring the characters from AAI to AA7, and they need AAI2 to be localized for that to happen.
Ah, Eustace Winner. The character name that has forced me to be given the role “Eussy Wiener” in my aa discord server…
AA7 will Probably be announced alongside the switch 2
I'm the one person who likes all three names
Gavelle is a pun on gavel…
Of course I have pre-ordered the game, it is a game where I have the spotlight. Not that joke of a defense attorney. Now if you'll excuse me, I have tea to drink.
Let me remind you that Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was announced in April 2021 and released in July 2021. Also 3 months. So if anything, it's Apollo Justice that was the real outlier here
As a pikmin fan, i suspect that capcom is using the apollo trilogy and investigations duology to guage interest as well as warm people up to ace attorney by making the old games more accessible to boost ace attorney 7 when it does come out
I feel like part of the reason that the name "Eustace Winner" has seen so much negativity is because there were some people holding out hope that the character might get a standalone game or something, and with the name "Sebastian Debeste" that was almost that was almost believable, but not so much the new name.
love how they keep secret of the release of the collection =]]

Entry of the Gladiators? intereting choice.
It's surprising how much some people get fixated about things that they shouldn't be wasting their energy on:
We had a fan translations for years (an amazing, good one) which is not official.
Very glad to have you here, then!
Every Ace attorney game besides the Layton crossover (WHICH IS GOOD I'LL DIE ON THIS HILL) is on modern consoles.

Eustace Winner 🤣
They still had to do a lot of localization for AJ Trilogy, I'm pretty sure.
Okay, thoughts on names:
To be fair, I though Justine Courtney was pretty weak for a name, same with John Marsh. I'm curious how those names will change.
i dont think ive seen your channel before but you said you used new portraits and ya i think theyre good
Maybe we'll see AA7 announcement at TGS 2024.
People are complaining about small things smh. I already preordered the game
This is the 9nth and 10th port, at this point I’m mostly just glad they’ve ran out of games to port and they HAVE to make smth new now, but with our luck, they’ll just go radio silent for years again lol
Watch like, 2027 have a vs port then more radio silence
It'd be even funnier if, instead of making AA7, they make a collection of all the remasters and sell that as one game.
I think it's pretty silly that people are upset over the new names for Investigations 2, like what did you expect? They were never going to use the fan translation names, people get way to set in the "different is bad" mentality for their own good imo

Your avatar is so cute!
Don't they usually reveal Ace Attorney games at the Tokyo Game Show?
After all, an edge meeting a shield is the symbol of a contradiction, and that symbolism is used for the prosecutors trophy)
Having his name be a simple pun just makes him feel like a Doofy witness and not the major character to Edgewroth's life that he truly is.
WHO DID YOU JUST CALL A LOSER??🙁🙁
