Hello! Thank you so much for your comment. We apologize for getting back to you so late. Light pruning can be done throughout the year, but be careful as to not remove terminal branches (as you're then essentially, removing potential fruiting wood). To prune for height, prune the tallest branch one year, and the second tallest branch the following year until the desired height is reached. For more information, you can also refer to this resource: ucanr.edu/blogs/blogcore/postdetail.cfm?postnum=12051 Thank you again!
How much can I cut off the top? My tree is older, has been around for a while and is about 18ft tall. We moved in recently and I would like to trim the tree and get more than 6 avocados a year, please advise.
thanks, i'll get out my cutters today. i have a couple of older trees and about 10 seedlings that are only a few months old. i'm keen to see if i can grow avocados here but i read that in warm climates, its essential that you have type A and type B trees close together to get pollination. i would love to get some cuttings from a variety of type A and B trees and graft onto my seedlings but cannot find any here in thailand. is it possible that you could sell me some? thanks
