    Video Transcript:
Okay, I’ve shared my story with people, and sometimes they look at me with a puzzled expression. But I don’t worry about what people think of me. I just wanted to share what I experienced. If you’ve had similar experiences, please talk to me-I’d be glad to listen. It’s hard for someone who’s had these experiences to talk about it with others who haven’t. I can only imagine how lonely that person must feel, especially if they’re afraid to share their story because they might be thought of as crazy or odd. For me, though, I don’t care-I love to share what I’ve experienced.
Now, I’m going to tell you three stories. I’ll start with my mother’s story and then share the other two afterward. What I experienced wasn’t weird, it was WOW, and I am truly grateful for it. I’ll explain what happened.
That Wednesday evening, I was staying with Mom. I laid down beside her, but I didn’t sleep-I wanted to be sure she was okay. I was using my iPhone to play a game. There was a lamp across from us, and it had three settings, from low to bright. I believe it was set to the second setting. While I was playing the game, the light got brighter. I looked up quickly and wondered, "Who turned the light up?" There was no one around, though-both Gaye and Dad had already been in bed for a while. I decided not to let it bother me. If it had been flickering, I would have ignored it, assuming it was just a malfunction, maybe a loose bulb. But the way it got brighter felt like it was meant to get my attention.
Then the next night, Thursday, I texted my daughter, asking if she wanted to say a final goodbye to Nana. She wanted to, so at 10:43 p.m., she FaceTimed me. I warned her that Nana might not look like herself, since she was dying, but she said it was fine. When I showed Nana, I moved my phone back toward me, and once again, the light got brighter-just like the night before. I asked River if she saw it, and she said, "Yes, the light got brighter." We talked about what it might mean, and then the light turned off completely four times, leaving the room in total darkness. An hour later, Mom passed away.
The hospice nurse came, I asked her about our experience with the lights. She responded with, "Yes, people can experience things like that. I would agree with you-it’s phenomenal, but I can’t explain it."
For me, this experience was incredibly helpful. It felt like a message telling me that spirits or angels were coming to take care of Mom, and that the process had begun. It was very powerful.
I have another story about my brother-in-law, Dennis. He passed away at 37 from a brain tumor. I went to visit him at the intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore on a Monday. My husband and I entered the room to see him, and as we were there, I noticed a bolt fell from one of the machines. Dennis was on a breathing machine, and when I saw the bolt fall, I thought that the machine had malfunctioned, and that he might stop breathing because of it. I asked my mother-in-law about it, and she bent down to look for it on the floor. I joined her, but we couldn’t find it. We eventually forgot about it.
Later, I saw another bolt fall from the other side of Dennis’ bed. I told Dan that another bolt had fallen. We both bent down to look for it under the bed, but we couldn’t find it either. That’s when I realized that it wasn’t actually a bolt that had fallen. I was the only one who saw it. I thought to myself, “Oh no, I don’t want them to think I’m crazy.” At the time, I wasn’t aware of the kinds of experiences that could happen.
Just to note: Dennis’ breathing tube was removed the next day, and he passed away two days later.
Note: I've decided not to share the third one since it's personal.
