#13: Final video
Video transcript:
I think that’s it for now. If there’s more, I’ll share more videos. If you have a loved one who is dying and want to ask me questions, please feel free to contact me. I’m happy to explain and offer any help I can. If you need assistance, I’m willing to come and support you through it. For some people, this task isn’t easy, especially if you’ve never had the experience and aren’t sure what to do or if you’re doing the right thing. The hospice nurse won’t be with you the entire time. This is especially true here in Maryland, but I don’t know how it works in other states.
Feel free to reach out-I’d be happy to help. This has been a rich experience for me, and I’m glad I did it.
Now, I have my father to care for. He’s doing okay, but he’s heartbroken.
Update: Dad has been doing much better. He has been eating more!

#12: Challenges with Hospice Diapers
Переглядів 6314 днів тому
Video transcript: I’ve been using several different kinds of diapers and pull-ups for my mom, some of which are provided by the hospice program. However, I’ve had some issues, especially with the diapers leaking and causing a mess. The first ones I tried were Depend Overnight Pull-Ups. They work fairly well, but leaking is still a problem. It's not terrible, though, so I use bed pads as a backu...
#11: Eco-Friendly vs. Disposable Bed Pads: What’s Best for Caregiving?
Переглядів 1614 днів тому
Video Transcript: In this video, I’m going to talk about bed pads. I have two different types of bed pads that I use, depending on the situation. One is provided by the hospice program. It works, but I’m not crazy about it. The other one is my favorite, and I want to share why. For those of you who are environmentally conscious, I highly recommend the fabric one. Yes, it requires a little more ...
#10: Blanket Choices for Hospice Care: What Worked for My Mom
Переглядів 3114 днів тому
Video transcript: The video I’ll talk about today is about blankets, and how important it is to get the right kind of blankets. We usually use regular bed sheets, which are 100% cotton. The second thing I want to share is when I went to Target. I was looking for a comforter, and a customer approached me, asking if I was looking for a comforter. I said yes, and she directed me to the section whe...
#9: Tips for Comfort and Care with a Hospice Bed
Переглядів 4914 днів тому
Video transcipt: This mattress foam is one I highly recommend for a hospice bed, if you're considering getting one. I suggest it because it's extremely helpful. You will definitely need a hospice bed, and I’ll explain why. The bed itself is uncomfortable and won’t help you fall asleep. I actually slept on a hospice bed about five years ago when my mom was moved from her hospice bed to her regul...
#8: What You Should Know About Embalming: My Personal Experience
Переглядів 10621 день тому
Video transcipt: I want to talk about embalming, especially for those who prefer not to be cremated. The embalming process typically happens soon after death. The embalmer will remove the body’s blood and replace it with a chemical solution to preserve the skin and maintain the body’s color for several days. The internal organs remain in the body. If you’re considering embalming, it's important...
#6: Personal Stories of Unexplained Events During Death

#6: Personal Stories of Unexplained Events During Death Video Transcript: Okay, I’ve shared my story with people, and sometimes they look at me with a puzzled expression. But I don’t worry about what people think of me. I just wanted to share what I experienced. If you’ve had similar experiences, please talk to me-I’d be glad to listen. It’s hard for someone who’s had these experiences to talk ...
#5: Will the Hospice Nurse Stay with Us the Entire Time?
Переглядів 10921 день тому
Video Transcript: I have several topics to talk about, and there are many things I’ve seen, but I will select the most important subjects to share with you-things that I believe are important for you to know. As I reflect on my experience as a birth photographer at the hospital and at home, I remember how a birth doula stays with the pregnant person the entire time-before, during, and after del...
#4: How to Comfort and Support a Loved One During Active Dying (with the list of questions)
Переглядів 10621 день тому
Video Transcript: I’m going to go ahead and post a list of questions that will help you think about what to ask your family members, partners, or friends who may take care of you when you are dying. These questions are meant to give you some ideas. You don’t have to follow all of them, and it’s okay if some don’t apply to you. For example, some of the questions might be: Do you prefer to be alo...
#3: How to comfort a Loved One in Their Final Days...this adds to the second video
Переглядів 9221 день тому
Video Transcript: I recently posted the second video about my personal experience with my mother, such as lying down with her. You don’t need to do the same thing I did. I loved my mom so much that being uncomfortable with how I laid down didn’t matter to me. My goal was to make sure she was comfortable. I’d like to add to that second video by sharing something from five years ago, when my moth...
#2: How to comfort a Loved One in Their Final Days
Переглядів 19821 день тому
Video Transcript: Today, I’ll be talking about how you want us to comfort you when you are lying down as you are dying. What is your vision or idea of what you want us to do for you? I’ve read books, taken a class, and followed a hospice nurse’s Instagram. None of these resources really explained what we should do when someone is dying, but they did talk about how not to create fear in the dyin...
#1: Mom and Her Experience with Hospice
Переглядів 23121 день тому
Video Transcript: Hello. I’ve been reflecting a lot lately. My mother passed away three weeks ago, on December 6, 2024. Wow, it’s been such an experience. I’m truly grateful that I was with her all the way until she passed. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. When I was studying to become a mental health counselor in graduate school, I took a class on death and dying. It really stuck with me, ...
