The turntable really does some work with a pen like this! Pictures can't do it justice, so the motion is appreciated. Those leaves are even more gorgeous than I thought
Wow, Chris. That pen is gorgeous. That nib looks smooth and juicy. what a great buy!! Hongdian is just a fantastic brand. I love every pen I have from them. I even have some of their spare nibs in other pens. Great video, Captain!!
Anxious how the new #6 M nib will perform. I have seen Hongdian #5 & #6 units with EF and F nibs engraved ‘1997’ for three or four bucks on AliExpress.
Love these pens..... I'm collecting them all. The white feather version and their green with a green pattern (peacock version which I'm still waiting for) will compliment each other. These pens all run/work extremely well and my nibs like yours are very smooth. Mine are all fine and I enjoy writing with them. Take a look the white feather version with a chick on the top of the cap.
I loved the shadows on the writing sample because it is such a good shot of the nib from the side view. I have purposely gotten photos of shadows trying to get that picture. Nice review.
Hi Chris! Very interesting review, technically complete exposition. I find the reference to the purchase price very important, which helps to highlight the various possibilities in the various markets. For $20 it's a great buy of a fine and good looking product. Best wishes!
Isn’t it amazing that a $20 Chinese doe with such beautiful resin writes well right out of the box when many big time brands sends nibs on very expensive pens that write horribly?
You showed a consistent interest for brightly colored, pearlescent pens. I wonder if you ever gave considerations for pens of a different finish, which may seem rather minimalist, the pen with a swirling pattern inside the resin. One such model is the penbbs 308-54 SF. On the pictures on the vendors site, they seem to simply have painted white on their side, but that is not the case, the ribbons are embedded inside the resin. Rotating the pen shows them at different angles, at places where the ribbons split in two, one cast a shadow on the other. I ordered one recently and was impressed, I would be curious to see your review of it.
Amazing deal. Delivered with tax itemized.... which will be collected and unpaid...... to the U. S Treasury by the Chinese seller. What a luxury. This video makes the purchase feasible. I feel fully informed. Thanks.
I know. I was surprised by a eBay sale I made years ago. They collected tax & sent it to me. I expected eBay would pay sales tax to appropriate tax agency. I was naïve.
Great review as always. I have this pen, my only issue is they don't offer a medium nib. I ended up putting am old style Schmidt bold nib (with a regular plastic feed) in mine. The gold is a little off from the rose gold on the pen, but it writes exceptionally. Also, I wonder if the maple leaf was canted intentionally? The maple leaf on mine is set at the exact angle yours is. Either way, these ae great pens, especially for the money.
The pearlescent on the N8 maple leave looks a touch more vibrant than the N7 peacock. Really pretty! How would you compare the N7 and N8's pearlescent to, say, a Pelikan M200 brown marbled or petrol marble or blue marbled? The marbled series of M200. A side by side video would be very nice!
It is a very beautiful resin. Like that it is a resin body. I have enjoyed their N6, especially their piston fill mechanism. It looks like they are continuing their excellent releases. Does the N6 have an ebonite feed? Great review, Chris.
This pen really does look gorgeous! It just exudes those autumn vibes, makes you want to get a nice red ink and go to town. I was wondering, have you tried the Jinhao 82? I cannot find any reviews for that pen on youtube, except one which is in German with no captions. :(
I am new to fountain pens but i already have 15 pens. I realise that those Chinese pens are killing the expensive ones. I have a gioia 200 euros that writes worst than the jinhao and the kaigelu i have. Both cost about 25 euros each!!!
Dangit, Chris! I'm trying to find reasons NOT to buy this pen, trying to REDUCE my collection! How are you going to tell me everything i like in ONE pen design. The ONLY thing i can ding it for is the weight is a LITTLE high, everything else i'm all about (cool design, great nib, comfortable grip, c/c fill, def affordable) & this has been on my radar for awhile, trying to resist purchasing! If you can't tell (because text is harder to convey) i'm trying to thank you for being so thorough in your review, great job as always on covering the most important aspects of what i look for in a pen. I pray the triune God of the supernaturally prophetic (Romans 1:26-31/2 Timothy 4:3/Matthew 24:6/1 Corinthians 1:18), historically verified (archaeologically & anthropologically, enemy/early/multiple attestation, internal consistency, embarrassing reports, etc.) & transcendentally, objectively moral (Exodus 20/Matthew 22:37-40) Bible reveal Himself to you in Spirit & objective truth (John 16:13). May God bless you, Chris!

It is a great-looking pen. Mt Frog is glad you enjoy his effort.
Great review! Thks as always for taking the time to introduce us newbies to another great pen!
Inked everyday since. Enjoy it.

It really is!
This burgundy one and the green one (the peacock) are both gorgeous. I’m ordering them now. Thanks a lot for the review.
You’re welcome 😊

Thanks for another great review. A really beautiful resin and as usual with Hongdian a nice writer. Another one promptly ordered.
Both white and red N8 versions are beautiful.

Glad you like them!
I have both N7s and I have been considering the N8. I will likely get one. Beautiful pen. Great review!
Thanks for watching!
I loved the shadows on the writing sample because it is such a good shot of the nib from the side view. I have purposely gotten photos of shadows trying to get that picture. Nice review.
The sun light was just right. Winter sun, lower in the sky, small angle, made the shot possible.

An absolutely fabulous New Year to you & yours.

Pen NOT doe. Darn automatic spell checker! 😂
Hongdian are producing excellent pens at the moment.

I love smog. I have it in almost all models. here is my review of a 309-54 - ua-cam.com/video/CLCOBbDNKjc/v-deo.html
I like the shadow during the writing.

What a nice acrylic. Hope you can film in sunlight for future videos.
Weather permitting.

I agree on leaf, like what they are when they fall from the tree.
@ yews and thankfully they are selling the nib units. I've got a small collection of spares now,
I dont know how I got here but very cool video, keep up the good work
I don't have any Hongdian pens yet, you're convincing me that I should get one.
Ready for Hongdian to come out with a #8 size nib
Maybe a long wait.

I do not have any M200s.
Oh wow, that looks great, and of particular interest to us Canadians. ;-) Seems the price jumps for Canadians, so maybe not. Wish I knew why.

Does the N6 have an ebonite feed?
Great review, Chris.
Good question. It is advertised as ebonite. Looks like ebonite. Ink flow is very good, so it is a good feed.
How is it holding up after owning it for two years? thank you! great review!
All good. No issues. Currently recently uninked. I have too many pens.
@chrisrap52 ok thank you! I appreciate the update! It is a gorgeous pen! And never any such thing as too many pens!🖋️ 😄👍🏼
Is the rose gold is real or the color is off towards orange color?
I'm not one to tell. Judge for yourself.
The pattern on the cap isn’t my cup of tea, but man that resin looks great!
Chris when you say you flush the pen, do you mean simply flush water thru the feed and nib or something different?
Flush soapy water then clean water through nib & feed. Dry off, then ink.
Thank you Chris.
@@chrisrap52 you mean hand soap or dish soap?
Either will work. Liquid detergent is easier to use. A few drops will do.
hommage to Canada 😀 Never the less this is a nice pen i am waiting for mine to come
Hope you enjoy it! Fill Yer Boots!

So far I've not considered the 82. Same nib as on most Jinhao pens. I have so many pens. Can't buy them all!
What is the ink you're using? It's beautiful.
I usually show ink, didn't. Chinese ink, Tramol No. 10. You can see it with the other Tramol colors here - ua-cam.com/video/VVRp-0TFUHY/v-deo.html
Just picked up one for $10 USD. After seeing other places have it for $20-$30, I figured i couldn't really go wrong.
Excellent!! 🙃😍
👍👍👍

Correct. True of many products, cost not equivalent to value.
@@chrisrap52 so i quess we pay those products cause of their history?

Resist! Just enjoy the video. No need to buy this pen. Repeat over & over.
😮😊
✍👍
Tthat feed is ebonite
Thanks.
@@chrisrap52 I saw you mended it on the end of the review note to self wait till the videos over before making comment 😂
