Interesting to learn of the link between Asvine and Hongdian. HD has been my favourite discovery of 2022.
HongDian/Asvine consistently put out aesthetically pleasing and functionally . . . functional pens. If this be damning with faint praise, may I be so condemned! I never feel bad enticing newcomers to our hobby with this brand. The pens write. They look good. They feel good. They last. What's not to love?
I love my HongDians. It was one of my first pens. Now I have 4 and plan to buy more. They release a "long knife nib" that I'm curious about.
Carrots.
Soda.
Neurotoxin.
Dinner's gonna be wild.
I bought the EF NIB on Amazon and surprisingly it writes very well for an inexpensive pen. I love the pen.
With regard to other pen manufacturers, I certainly know that most of a pen’s inflated cost is due to a marketing strategy and the willingness of the purchaser to procure for various reasons. Out of the box this pen wrote better than a $300.00 steel nib pen made by a well known italian manufacturer’s pen. Makes me wonder how easy it is to be bamboozled by some pen companies ;-)
I have had the EF from Amazon for daily use for the last 3 years. I carried in in my jeans picket with my keys. Ive never had a problem. I have bought them as gifts and own 3 myself.
I have 2 Hongdian pens and they write well, not hard starts, I like the weight since Im heavy handed. I have piston fill versions. These come with a small wrench. I’ve had one a few months and has not failed to quite yet. Lines are consistent.
I have the extra fine carbon fibre pen and I have to say it is pretty nice to right with, it is great for doing puzzle books as it is not to wet and works with smaller lettering, in terms of looks and value I think it is hard to beat.

I've had the carbon fiber one for a few months, though I paid 25 euro for it. It's a nice pen that works great out of the box.
Its very nice to view a positive review of something one has already purchased and is waiting to arrive. In my case this included the carbon fiber pen with a M nib and, at a very reasonable additional price, a set of 3 nibs - EF, F, & Fude. You don't mention the weight, and it would be good to know if the brass model weighs significantly more than the other one.
How did you like it? And did those extra nib units fit this model?
What cartridges are they compatible with? I have tried a couple of moonman and delike pens and the converter does not seem to be compatible with other pens.
Overall nice pens, I believe there is a rainbow version of this or a very similar Hongdian pen.
They use 3.4mm cartridges, which seem to be a cartridge standard in China (though someone else correct me if they know more). From my searching it seems like Hong Dian's own 3.4mm cartridges themselves are the easiest to find (at least in the US). They don't work with any standard international cartridges or other proprietary cartridges, though I've seen other people try to put Lamy cartridges in them before to some success.
Re ink: Pilot Black or PLATINUM Carbon Black? (I think you meant Platinum Carbon Black.)
I like these Hongdian "Forest" pens. I have several different "colors" of them, to include the original Black Forest, and then the White Birch, light blue, dark blue, and most recently the stainless steel. I will probably add the brass one to my collection as well. They have subtle differences in cap finials and bands and such. But, as far as those "differences," it's like the differences between a Candy Apple Red 1969 Camaro and a blue 1973 Camaro SS. Each is a Camaro. Same-same but different.
I have the carbon fiber and a original yellow color forest. I'm should be receiving the brass and stainless steel one to day. I'm most excite about how the brass version will patina over time.
You should try kanwrite 14k nibs..they are just awesome

Very interesting pen and I think I will look into getting one with the Fude nib on it. (I don't have one yet and it would be fun to try.)
Question - how is it to live a "life that is beyond exciting?" Mine's very dull by comparison. Actually, asking for a friend!

I apologize for pausing your video midway, I just went to Amazon and bought the carbon fiber model with a bent (Fude) nib. Now, I've personally experienced a bit of your "life that is beyond exciting!" :D Ok, now I need to enroll in one of the Drawing with Professor Danglebury classes to learn how to properly use the Fude in making masterful art.

For the price, they are certainly worthwhile. My only concern, and that is a preference, is that they are a bit thin for my hands.

These are HongDian fountain pens - Asvine had nothing to do with making them as far as I know.
They just sell them in their store, nothing else.
Everything on these pens says HongDian... no Asvine mentioned anywhere.
Not sure why those guys would say these pens are Asvine... these are HongDian and they can be bought on eBay or AliExpress under HongDian brand name as "HongDian Black Forest 1861".
I'm really skeptical about their claims... really skeptical...
Asvine sells them on Amazon. They are best seller on amazon so that probably where the association is coming from.
