True story.
sSSShhhhhh
LET IT GEL .
NICE THROWBACK SOUNDS !
I wish I was even 10% as cool as thundercat
Ya know y he cool?
Cause he is himself.
If u want to be cool like him u gotta find urself and be free.
Peace
Shumba I came here to say the same thing! That is within you, just gotta learn to let it out and love yourself unconditionally! Be safe everyone
@@shumbachidawo2176 GOOD SHIT, I WAS GONNA TYPE SOMETHING TO THAT DEGREE
@@shumbachidawo2176 Nobody will ever be as cool as thundercat. Especially us because while he is on stage preforming we are in youtube comment sections.
That’s like comparing urself to Shaggy
Thundercat turning into T pain one accessory at a time. Now that I mention it, thats the collab we need
After seeing that t pain tiny desk I’m down with that
that would be Epic
redshift912 fax
Pretty sure there’s a collab on his new album
Lmao the first thing I thought when I looked at the thumbnail is that he looked like t pain 💀
Bass sounding like when you wobble a plastic sheet
LASER BEAK 💀😂📠📠
Bruh lmaaao
Laser Wolf it’s actually an envelope filter haha, peace
@@rasmus9442 it’s actually an auto wah and a phaser
@@rasmus9442 envelope is much better
bass tone straight from the future
Kinda sorta, and much respect to the amazing Thundercat...but check out 70's vintage Bootsy Collins.
Oldskool Funk he said the future m8, why you recommending vintage
@@elynnzhao7422 I understood him Bro. I was just suggesting that TCats sound is awesome but you can go back at least 40 years and listen to Bootsy Collins running his Mutron III and Echoplex, amongst other great VINTAGE effects. Mr. Collins was laying down a bunch of futuristic tones similar to TCats tone today...back in the 70's.
In other words, futuristic bass lines were out there decades before now and Bootsy pioneered a lot of that style. If anything, the great and creative TCat is taking us Back to the Future...and Beyond...! 🤘🏾🤩🤘🏾
Oldskool Funk agree, this is not a new tone by any means. Doesn’t make it any less awesome
@@stewartross13 Absolutely. TCat never ceases to amaze me..! 👊🏾
His vocals improved a goddamn lot, he is now on another other level
Yeah his vocals are a lot more pleasant to listen to now
Definitely! He sounds amazing !
@@lestervandenberg6052 True, he might attract listeners, other than jazz school dropouts, 17 year old deep indie kids, and 56 year old funkadelic/parliament fans
@UMANITEA4Life well then you're in the minority here with that opinion
@@MM-vs2et uh actually im only 16😂
I feel like Thundercat is the "weird black kid" who made it
Lmao I wanna achieve his level. I'm a pretty charismatic weird black kid myself lmao.
Life101! 🏅
We're all going to make it, donald glover, tyler the creator, etc... have paved the way
That’s every black kid !
Every Nixxa is a Star !

Tony hawk on keys
Tony hawks pro drummer
Kinda looks like Toby Flenderson
Jjajaa yes men
Ik his name is Dennis but my mind keeps thinking "Devinn Hamm"
kkkkkkkaksakaakkaks
Cat is really up there with the greatest bass players of this era
of all time imo
I d k many bass players but every time I hear him slappin that bass I get them funky Boosty Collins vibes . ThunderCat a living legend
I just want a thunder cat and Joe dart colab
@@lukebourgeois1663 Joe would probably love that too, he has stated that Flea and Stephen are among his favorite bassists
I can only think of him joe dart and Michael League.
Yup. He’s officially in the league of Jaco, Claypool, Bootsie, and Wooten. And he plays a beast of a 6 stringer. You see a lot of 5s but few 6s.
A lot of hard core bass players would disagree but I totally agree that he’s going to be up there as a great one day
@@koppie4609 The way he uses fx on his bass guarantees him a spot in the hall of fame. This is incredible
@@koppie4609 I’m sure they would but remember this man composes these songs and sings them. He’s not just playing this music he wrote it.
Yeah he's not just a bass player he's also the lead singer
i would say that the most well known virtuoso are 6 string player. Anthony jackson is probably the most popular of them all, then you also have patittucci, Alain Caron, Nathan East ( who i think is the most recorded bass player but he really can play any bass), henrik linder and don't forget the musical director of chaka khan : Andrew gouche and melvin lee davis who played a lot 6 string and even 7 for MLD. i almost forget Tetsuo sakurai from Casiopea arguably of the most well knows fusion bassist that played mainly 6 string bass in the 90s-2000s.
Thundercat is carrying Mac's legacy and making sure he wont be forgotten. That's the best fucking friend ever man
Hell fucking yeah
I wanna hear Thundercat cover some Japanese jazz fusion.
Do 1 better: Thundercat collabs with Soil & Pimp Sessions, maybe even a pure Jazzy project with a reunited Fonogenico...the possibilities 🤔😌
thundercat x casiopea would be nice
@@dxmirr hellll yeahhh that would be so dope
I wanna hear him cover Mario music.... so Same!
Darius Johnson oh hell yeau
Anyone else’s eyes water when he said “Mac loved this song” 😭 he really is the most talented bass player of our time
Young blood 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Elusive Anomaly hell nah quit hating
Elusive Anomaly technicallity 😂💀 your funny he’s the best. PERIOD
Nah man Joe Dart on the Joe Dart
CorrellYT Reacts he’s not though.
Thundercat is fucking amazing, don’t get me wrong. he’s one of the best but not THE best.
MAN HES SO THIN, I kinda miss fat thundercat but he’s looking so great
UMANITEA4Life I will!
I too miss thunder fat
He really sounds better than ever! Really hope his show in philly isn't cancelled
Hope you can enjoy his show in Philly brother, and that I can enjoy the one in Paris !
Yup. I'll be at the filmore on the 22 mad teejayx6 is opening tho
Joel Hedberg that would be the case for any show other than this one
oof sauce i just saw :(
Ryan Bitam pray for the Élysée Montmartre tho :,(
First grab a cup, fill it with an isley brothers drum lick, a bootsy pedal, and a curtis falsetto. It's called the Thundercat. Prince is making the funky face in Heaven right now watching over you. May you have much success with the God given talent you have young Thundercat. Your music has inspired me so much.
Parliament Funkadelic. You cant forget them. And maybe a lil Kenny Loggins too
the best comment ever! Mac Miller, Prince and Maurice White are dancing all the time
Great summary
Thundercat and Korn would lowkey be the fucking wildest gig lmao
He's become an excellent singer
Just about to say, you can tell the difference dropping the weight has made on his live performance. Damn impressed, that's a man who gives a shit
@@triklino3207 " Cocaine is a Hell of a Drug" LoL .... just kiddin'
Ladies and gentlemen...this is what happens when you remove alcohol from your life and adopt a healthy life style
Is that for real?
João Vitor Reis it is !
happy for him! 😌
It's shocking how quickly weight comes off when you stop drinking. Happy for him!
Eduardo Deleon he lost so much weight
Nobody:
Thundercat:I want the biggest, waviest bass you got
That's his sig with Ibanez! And trust me he makes it look smaller than it is, I sized one in the past and my goodness they're huge!
Jalegre Now that you say that, that thing does look big as hell lol
If you haven’t seen Thundercat...do yourself a favor and make that a priority when this whole quarantine shit over !
ALRIGHT BETT😆
I WILL
Just got tickets!!!
I'm going on Sunday and I'm soooooo excitedddddd
Dennis sounds great on keys!
As always!
For anyone wondering, no it’s not a guitar, it’s a BASS!!!
I got tickets to see him this year, if he plays "What's The Use" i'm gonna cry like a bitch
😂😂
“Where were you when I needed you the most?” I love that line
I love how everytime he performs them changes he plays it a little different and puts a unique spin on it instead of just sticking to how he played the recorded version
I love that Mac and I have the same favourite Thundercat Track
@@lancemoore547 were you paying attention to what Thundercat was saying....it's Them Changes
Totally incredible. Authentic, himself, contemporary. his vocals have really improved too. This man will punch a hole through the sky of music and keep going.
That first lick captured me😊
im so thankful to my best friend his name was Patrick. he died of a overdose when his plug sold him fake xans. it made me so bitter and so hateful because it meant i was gonna be all alone. he loved thundercat and he put me on to thundercat’s drunk album and ive been hooked ever since
I had a friend named E..she died the same way (laced pills/fenty) Rest in peace to Her & Patrick
@@BadTV1993 ❤️❤️
@@BadTV1993 im incredibly sorry for that loss of yours…
Black Qualls is probably one of the best songs of 2020
That drummer is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
9:18 i wish I could loop that for about 10 minutes!!!!
i like the fact when he started playing he was moving like a subways surfs character
Hearing the audience sing at 4:07 was so beautiful. I aspire to connect with people through art, the same way thundercat does.
LOST👏🏾THE👏🏾WEIGHT👏🏾
6 string hollow body bass...
Does that officially make this JÅZZZ?
Ibanez 6 string semi hollow
And it's fuckin pINK
problem?
Wish I had $10,000 to buy my own. 😢
Thundercat is one of the best bass players in the world right now. Love his nod to his mate Mac (Miller). True friendship. He's such a talented guy, he's just ridiculous on that bass!
Thundercat is such a grooving dude... to me the nowadays Stanley Clarke or Bootsy... man, I love that P-funk vibe... love and hugs from Stuttgart, Germany
One day we're gonna play in Bakersfield. It's gonna be with KoRn.
first time i was like "did he said bakersfield? nah, probabl not" and then he mentioned korn. any idea what he meant by that?
@@prepthenun He probably made the connection since the keyboardist and KoRn are both from Bakersfield.
and mono/poly
Anyone looking for where funk went...Found it. Much respect this dude, and that new album finna be fire
I went to this concert, I saved up as soon as i found out he was going on tour, it was the best experience I have ever gone through. I'm just smiling looking back at these videos man
I love how he thinks like a keyboard player when he composes and solos, on the bass :-) Chops for days, but the groove is always first...like George Duke.
thats one wholesome funk god right here
if they played durag, it would've been the perfect set...
Just saw him in Phoenix last week. You're gonna really like the live version of durag. It was dope!
Late reply, but it's on op's channel too: ua-cam.com/video/rem2qNjEXBU/v-deo.html
They did
2:04
That fill thooo!
Justin absolutely on fire
How can he sing and play bass so well that’s fuckin hard.
To sing and play bass like that at the same time is beyond me it’s so hard
This version of them changes is explotion: the lights, the sound, the movements EVERYTHING
Even the intro before the song
Thundercat may be the best musician of my generation. Seriously...theres some really REALLY good guys out there, and somehow Thundercat just DOES this... Salute
Ya if you count vic as the generation past but greatest bass players ever its just cat and wooten
@@wagglewiggle You're lying
@@wagglewiggle Derek DOA Allen would like a word with you lol
@@BadTV1993 last generation am I tho? Wooten was out of this world man listen bela fleck and the fleck tones prime wooten was probably the greatest player of a certain instrument we will ever hear with only a few even holding a candle to him in that regard ( buckethead Neil pert )
Had I known it would be months without live music I would have driven 20 hours to see this
Damn this drummer is insane
this man has blossomed
Saw his last show before the tour was cancelled, think it was in orange county, ca. Best show of my life. Whenever he tours again you can count on me being there.
this man is going to make a lifetime of INCREDIBLE music
It's Them Changes + Black Qualls + Mac Miller's "What's the Use?" btw
thanks I fixed the title.
Looking forward to seeing Thundercat with the Chili peppers at London.
Anyone else think this performance right before COVID killed concerts is itself an example of Them Changes?
The reharm at 4:11 - 4:33 has me in stiches everytime... ughhhh amazing.
could you please explain the chord changes on that reharm?
Heard people’s and Yarborough “don’t stop the music” in this for the first time in this sitting... that must be where the groove is from!!
Mixed with Isley brothers foot steps in the dark
Whoaaaaa that’s amazing! I never caught that!
When during the set? I gotta find it now😭
Zion Moore it’s not exact but more like “edging” it at the 4:55 mark. When i heard it i had to listen to the other song and was like yes edging but not identical :-)
Fucked up how we cant even listen to a concert like this anymore. worlds gone to a fucked up place.
The last song he played was for Mac Miller (R.I.P.). It was his song "What's The Use"
My daughter who is 10 helped me to hear his genius.. .CONTINUED LOVE KEEP PLAYING
That's Thundercat on the shaker
best bassist of our time.
Classic victor wooten is to close to say for sure
I desperately want to see duelling basses with Thundercat and Les Claypool
thundercat lost HELLA weight
This is right before COVID shut down Fox Theater. We lived in those apartments next door. I missed show, but am all ready to see Thundercat when there are shows again.
one of the best shows i ever got to go to. it was like two weeks before the lockdown, and his tribute to mac was so sweet, but it was also the day that mccoy tyner passed away and he took time to address that too. stephen bruner is one of the best people we have
the closes i’ll get to seeing him live for now since corona wants to be a bitch
so sad tour is canceled! definitely for the best, stay safe friends
Hol on the boy been takin singin lessons 😏
Everybody wants to be a cat 😏
These lads are on fire!..

This dude is like the Hendrix of bass, I'm just watching this with my mouth open :0
An angel
Brilliant just Brilliant!! Love this fella!! ❤
Oakland is in the house
Many thx to the uploader 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice. I love the groove
It’s crazy how this man is aging in reverse
I just became a fan of his after watching his NPR performance. Man he’s on another level love his energy
Edit: it makes me tear up a bit seeing everyone coming together through some soulful music. I fucking live for this shit.
Me too bro I was instantly a fan after watching that performance I’ve never felt that touched by an artists music like that before
This video is 10:19; if you're a true Thundercat fan you'll know why that's so dope!!! Come to Bakerfield man, it's an embarrasing ask, but please and thank you!!! lol.
Truly gifted...
Had to watch this four times in a row...
We love you too. RIP Mac
Thundercat is so inspiring. Reminds me of myself in highschool before life made growing up happen
How did I miss this concert ughhhh
