    From the context it sounds like he's saying that it's a *possible interpretation*, not that it possibly happened that way. I think he was just trying to be charitable.

      Agreed. Only so many words we can fit in the title lol.

    This was a great highlight in the discussion. A low point however, was Hovind’s uncharitable answer to an old earth interpretation. Can’t risk those Dino Land ticket sales!

    Young earth is roughly equivalent to flat earth in terms of probability.

      The bible teaches God created the world in the space of 6 literal days.

      @@innovationhq8230 The Bible also describes the earth as flat and supported on pillars.

      @@zemorph42 The Bible says the earth is a sphere.
      Isaiah 40:22
      And him who sits on the sphere of The Earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretched out the Heavens like a vaulted bowl, and stretched them out as a tent for a dwelling

      @@innovationhq8230 That's based on a post hoc rationalization. The original word used didn't have that as one of the available translations in any lexicon I've seen;
      Strong's Number
      H2329
      Original Word
      חוּג
      Transliterated Word
      chûg
      Phonetic Spelling
      khoog
      Parts of Speech
      Noun Masculine
      Strong's Definition
      From H2328;
      1. a circle: - {circle}
      2. {circuit} compassive
      Brown-Driver-Briggs' Definition
      circle, circuit, compass
      (BDB) vault (of the heavens)
      Usage by Word
      circle (1), circuit (1), compass (1)
      Usage by Book
      Job, Proverbs, Isaiah
      It might have been interpreted figuratively, but if the author intended "sphere" there were better alternatives to express that.

      I would'nt go that far. Flat earth is actually not biblical. While how old the earth is, is interpretation

    I wonder what Church Inspiring Philosophy attends? His theology is rubbish and he should be marked and avoided.
