One of the most underrated Ghost tracks, one of my favorites off the Infestissumam album....and in true Vin & Sori fashion, I come for a song reaction and stay for the 30 min theological talk in regards to transubstantiation. Great work and stay safe!
Yeah it's an underrated song. I think it's because Infestissumam has so many of their most iconic tracks (Year Zero, Monstrance Clock, Ghuleh/Zombie Queen) that Body and Blood gets left out sometimes. It's a great one though. Depth of Satan's Eyes is underrated too.
You two are the only Christians that I really like, because you are open to listening to this type of music ... most Christians would never accept listening to it, greetings from Chile
React to Witch Image! :( Oh and if you want something different from Tobias, you can check out some songs of his other projects: House of Affection (solo song), and Hungry are the Damned (from his previous band Repugnant)
The album Infestissumam has an underlying theme of the presence of the Antichrist, just as the previous album had a theme of Antichrist prophecy. The cover depicting a baby laying inside of an arena is, thus, a depiction of the Antichrist. Notice how the arena can double as a manger? Papa Emeritus (Tobias) is the prophet of his coming, thus why his image looms over the baby in a heralding manner with his arms outstretched towards the viewer.
I was going to say the same. That's one hell of a baby ;-) Ghost's first three album themes are in chronological order and to complete the story: Meliora, the third is about the absence of god (hence the title of the song Deus in Absentia). Tobias' explanation of the title: There's supposed be be a questionmark after Meliora, in the sense of 'is life on earth better without God?' once again proving he's not at all against religion in general (He's not an actual Satanist as he mocks actual satanists in a similar fashion) but asks the right questions about human behavior, especially in groups, invoking thought and self reflection. If this takes a little mockery, so be it.. The band's performance is more a form of entertainment and something for people to come together and enjoy than it is to be taken seriously. Anyone who still doesn't get should be doing a little more self reflection to be able to meet with the underlying message intellectually :-)
I enjoy these discussions. I’m not a religious person, for better or for worse, but I enjoy hearing the historical / ideological contexts and references that get broken down in these songs. Really makes me appreciate them on a whole new level. Thanks for the great content!
This song is from the Infestissumam album that's about the birth and rise to power of the Antichrist so the songs reflexively make fun of Christianity and tells a story of a twisted messiah, possibly why they said he came out of a casket instead of a tomb as it may have been focused on the Antichrist at that point of the song
Yeah, no evidence at all. They went to all the trouble of putting a mirror there so people with the proper instruments would believe someone was there. Oh, wait.
The evidence that Christ truly rose from the dead is the complete change in attitude of His disciples. They went from cowards who abandoned Jesus to fearless martyrs who willingly died for Him.
@@Turco-mughal Yeah, I know. Why? Because someone wrote it down in a book a long time ago? I read this book about this pig and his spider friend who used to write messages in her webs, that shit was lit. I believe it, cause some guy wrote it down.

If you were looking at the cover art for the song, take notice that every song has it's own and all of them were drawn by Zbigniew M. Bielak - Polish dude who draws everything for Ghost and his drawings are really, really good. But if you saw a baby on St. Peter's square - that's the album cover, song has a different one.

I went from the Protestant view to the Catholic view. Now I see Communion as the Lamb of God on the altar as prefigured in the OT sacrifices. The new Adam's Bride, the Church comes from His rib as His side is pierced and the sacrament comes from His side. The way i see communion, is that when partaking in it, you are participating in the relationship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It's not that you become like God, but that you are one with the Holy Triune.
For me being a Ghost fan and a Christian, I always saw communion as a kind of tradition, for example, we know Santa Claus was based off of a Saint that delivered toys to nearby towns and we carry the tradition with the jolly guy in a red suit and ho ho ho. I go to a non denominational church and we hold communion once a month to carry on the tradition of the last supper.
