@@EvilEmoj1 Ghost is a Gnostic band clearly, this song is from the perspective of G-d. "I know your soul is not tainted" revolves around the Gnostic humanist perspective that all humans have God's soul, the divine spark narrative.

This song is basically the Devil meeting someone on their own level. Being relatable to them and understanding, rather than being seen as this big greater being that you're supposed to live up to; he comes down to your level and shows you that you're not alone. The Devil doesn't have to be seen as an evil character. Sometimes, honestly, when a god is seen as a higher and greater being, the Devil saying these words and being this relatable is much more comforting than having to improve one's self just to be recognised. Sure, it could be seen as the Devil leading someone to his side but when it's under these terms, that he accepts you for who you are and doesn't expect you to live up to standards other than your own, a lot of people, including myself, would prefer to follow him or at least his ideology, in comfort that we are accepted and loved without having to comply to someone else's life standards.
@@bodyman29 god is literally the biggest fucking asshole that has ever existed (even if he doesn't exist), God is worse than Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, all combined. I really like Sori's interpretation. This song is catchy and an easy listen, and it's much nicer to hear it as a person speaking to another truly seeing them. Straight up, it's the Devil's Pope speaking. Much of Ghost's material is not presented as the devil speaking, or in praise of the devil. It's more of a satirical poke at how most sects of Christianity work. How the belief is spread. A commentary on how dangerous blind faith is.
If you can hear those lyrics and not realize that this empathetic voice is preying upon a person who's life is in turmoil then your disregarding a huge part of the dynamic of the song, stripping it down to fit into some oddly shaped romanticism hole that you've carved for it.Listen to the music. Even it suggests with its creepy, minor arpeggiated intro to the double "timpani" shots that mark the changes in the verse with its own "thunder", foreshadowing the mention of thunder in the next line. It's obvious that darkness is afoot (regardless of the identity of the speaker, even though Forge is taking a shot at the church here. Cirice is an old English version of the word church so it's really a no brainer.) Don't cheapen everything by imagining it's all make out songs. There's already alot of those. No offense. Just my opinion.
Their live performance of Monstrance Clock from hellfest where they throw condoms into the crowd while a childrens choir sings backup vocals is my favorite.
"I feel your presence amongst us/ You cannot hide in the darkness" might refer to the actual person he's trying to reach out to. Because a heartbroken person can try conceal their pain so others can't see.
Cirice might be my favorite Ghost song. Unnerving yet beautiful lyrics (I know the song's about religious indoctrination, but still, haha), and just some kickass music behind it all. That opening riff is pure gold.
This song is actually about churches, cirice on old English is "church", it is saying how religion has thought humans how broken and bad they are and that they need to be with the religion to be good and whole again, if not we will be forever lost.. Now from my pov (I don't believe in god) religion is a really dumb thing, but I can see that it can keep people grounded and thats why I think its also a good thing to have, so people have some form of fear of losing their chance to "heaven"..to me religion is really dumb if you take it seriously, I can take it methaphorically that the whole thing about god and devil is actually talking about god and devil in humans themselves, but to actually believe that biblical stories are reallity is beyond moronic and ur nothing but a sheep that is blinded by a methaphorical narrative. (luv you all, please don't get offended
Vortiac You misunderstood me..I never said once that you shouldnt believe in something..but people dont understand that believing in something is not saying that they know it exists..all Im saying is that religion shouldnt insist on what is, but rather on what could possibly be..since believing in something isnt the proof for existence.. -Now the reason im saying this is because of number of times I was ridiculed by complete idiots about not believing.. like actual sheep, blinded by religion, so delusional by the reality that they were given, rather that the one they came to know..religion class was trying to MAKE us believe, to force opinions, some guy on the street giving away papers for some religious play (who was on religious steroids to say lol, a fanatic) was disgusted when we said, nah sry we are not huge believers.. I dont mind religion as long as its not forced and as long as it is not trying to convey certain things as facts, when clearly science has proven otherwise..just dont force, thats what Im trying to say..sry for a biblically long paragraph xD :)
megajerk2000 never heard that but ok..since why woould they talk sbout a godess, they never go after that type of religion and mythology..This is about cirice that means church in old English..look up the explenation of the song this is confirmed by ghost many times
The subtlety of Ghost's "satanic" theme is basically their whole point lol. They have this happy music on the surface with darkness kind of hidden beneath it. Check out Absolution by Ghost if you want some heavier Ghost Vin! Either that or Con Clavi Con Dio if you want some of their darker/heavier stuff. Their first album is by far the most "satanic".
Tyler and the second one is the most anti-religious, Idolatrine being the best example They aren't real Satanists, but Tobias sure isn't fond of religion
Sori on point with interpreting lyrics these days. That thunder in the heart thing was really on point. Nice one. Also, yeah, this song is quite catchy.
GHOST (previously known as GHOST B.C. as in Spirit Before Christ)... Greatly underrated band. They're not truly "Satanic" but make fun of silly parts of the religions. That many of them have the same quirks and flaws. Like bands that reflect on society. GHOST raises a mirror to Religion. Including "Satanism". They don't avoid certain chords or notes. They don't avoid 5th, 6th (Angel Chords) and 8th chords (The Gabriel chord). They don't avoid Octives (8 Arch Angels). They're not trying to reinvent 13th Structure (symbolic of the day of the month Queen Elizabeth executed Catholics).
metalequine You are taking it too literal. Think about it a bit more. Sure. The actual name was "Ghost Because Copyright" the play on words is Spirit Before Christ. Lucifer is the Spirit that walked the earth long Before Christ.
metalequine There was already a band named Ghost registered in the U.S. the band had to buy the copyright. The U.S. band had done very little so it wasn't difficult or particularly expensive. It was an issue of finding the owner of the name. Probably took them to a nice dinner, took care of paperwork, left the guy a decent check, Backstage Passes for life and a case of Carlsburg Beer with a handshake.
Tobias has stated he is a Satanist. His music definitely reflects this as well. Satanist's do not believe in a literal Satan, and what Ghost does as a band is a true embodiment of what satanism is about. The rejection and often scrutiny of controlling religions and the praise of self. Do as thou will (as long as it is not harmful to others). Satanism can be slightly different depending on which you adhere (the satanic temple or church).
Ha ha! You broke the code. This is why I think Ghost is so awesome because while the hardcore metalhead disregard them as being commerical they are the best representation of the Devil because of their seductiveness. I hear the lyrics "Are you ready to swear right here, right now before the Devil?" sung while going for commercial break during the NFL football game and I cannot believe how a song like that got through. But if you sugar coat things everything can be swallowed. Just like John Lennons 'Imagine' which is anti-nationalist and anti-religion but is played by church bells.
I really want to see this, haha. Nicest sounding love song to the devil ever! The contrast between the music and lyrical content is just amazing in it.
This was the song that won them the 2016 Grammy for best metal performance and its possibly still my favorite song from that riff is just absolutely ear splitting and crunchy and tobias just kills it on vocals their one of my favorite bands of the last few years everything from their theatrics to actual talent as musicians i love them i highly recommend he is by ghost it's off the same album
No, they are not underrated. They are even more known than a vast mayority of bands which started the metal genre in the 80's. That's because of the music focus that Ghost has and the internet influence which was not a reality in the 80's.
I'm in awe of the depth of your analysis of this song! You have really made me think! I'm an agnostic leaning towards atheism, but even though I don't really have faith (I have tried, it didn't work out), I'm doing my best to be a good person and always think of others, not just myself or my family. I think it is human, no matter what your personal view of life is. I have Christian and spiritual friends and I respect their beliefs deeply, because in the end their view of life is so close to mine. You sound a lot like my friends, the kind of religious people I could befriend easily. I think your analysis of this song is pretty much on point. It's not simply a song about devil's deeds, but about the abuse of power in general. When I first discovered Ghost, I was absolutely amazed how brilliant their songwriting was (I strongly recommend Meliora, their masterpiece so far. Their latest album Prequelle is great, but not as good). But at the same time I was upset with their lyrics and image. As an agnostic, I don't like it when any kind of religious (or nonreligious) agenda is pushed with music, be it Christian, Satanic, or whatever. So I had to watch and read some interviews of Ghost members. They seemed to be very level-headed people and the singer had a great sense of humor. I understand that doesn't mean he is not a Satanist, but I can agree with many things he has said in the interviews. So far I don't have a problem with his view of life and I can take Ghost's music and gigs as a form of amusement. I also feel their music is resonating strongly with the current affairs of the world. I think music does not really affect the state of the world, but the state of the world affects music. You get what you order. I just wanted to say this because so many people were recommending Ghost to you because they want to see your reaction to music that appears to be very Satanic. TL;DR IMO you can be a fan of Ghost, no matter what your religion or view of life is.
Aww when Sori got a little choked up toward the end... *virtual hugs* While the song is probably about the devil, the thing about music is it doesn't have to soley be viewed as what the writer intended it to be. You can interperate it how you want, that's the beauty of art.
Josh Grooves I agree to a certain degree. You can apply it emotionally to your personal situation, but the REAL meaning of the song is still quite concrete if it's confirmed and explained.
Vin and Sori should watch some of Ghost's music videos. When you see the video for 'Cirice' or especially 'He Is', you realize that the band is having a laugh; essentially poking fun at organized religion and its theatrics. (With their own theatrics, of course.)
Since one of my colleagues did an interview with Tobias Forge recently, I will just post some excerpt here to see how his relationship to religion is (sorry for potential errors in translation, I was too lazy to translate sentece by sentence from german and just threw it into google translator): Small topic change. In an interview you recently did with Revolver, you said that you turned away from religion early on. Then all this symbolism at GHOST. One question that came up in the newsroom was: What would you do if you were the real pope? So if you had the power over such a powerful and potentially evil organization as the Catholic Church? (Long pause) Me, uh ... That's a good question (pause). The Church and the Vatican are undoubtedly based on a heritage that they maintain, that causes many problems for us in the Western world and that I think they could erase. I personally do not think that the church is bad per se. I'm not a militant atheist or something. I believe that a certain amount of hope and imagination is good for us. I think that certain values are useful in society. The problem is that many of these values have been taken and patented for themselves. Your copyright on it. Everyone knows that you should not hit people in the face. What I think I would do first would be to turn churches into museums. They should be protected because they are part of our cultural heritage. So I do not want to burn down churches. From churches that were built in the sixties and seventies, so only modern concrete blocks, you could make youth centers, or bars. Turn them into something meaningful. Then I would probably suggest a serious debate about why I think marijuana is better than alcohol. Marijuana makes people happy and makes them nice to each other. Alcohol causes people to punch each other in the mouth and rape. Ultimately, I want people to be nice and relaxed (pause). Yes, these things are on my first day on the agenda. Of course, many principles would have to be changed, but this is the short version. After all, it does not take churches to have a sense of togetherness. There was a good example after a GHOST concert recently. There a fan collapsed and later died. A GHOST fan club then launched a crowdfunding campaign for his family. The goal was $ 1,000. When I looked earlier, the stand was already at almost $ 9,500. Does it make you proud to have created such a helpful community? It makes me very happy to see that people are so compassionate. Most of the people I meet and talk to are very warm and very human. That's the irony of the whole. I think that the message I want to convey with GHOST is much more human than anything the shitty Vatican ever did. Not just because of us, but above all because the people who matter are so life-affirming. I do not know how many people I've met who told me that they were already suicidal or stuck in life crises and the music helped. What could be more fulfilling than that? We want people to be happy. I think Bob Dylan once said that art is something that inspires people to create art themselves. And if that's the basic essence of art, I have to say that I'm extremely satisfied, because so many people come to our shows and bring us drawings, sculptures, everything. These are boxes full of gifts that we have together after each tour. Or all the things that are posted online. I just forgot what I was trying to do with it. But for being a "bad" band, we seem to be part of a very good movement. A very well-meaning, very human, very positive movement. I think that's a funny paradox if you look at what the Vatican is saying. Of course they would be against what we do because we are "evil". But our fans are probably happier than they are. I think their method is wrong. They make people feel guilty because they are not doing enough. Whatever that means. Do not pay enough. Do not regret it enough. Probably not paying enough. Yes exactly. But what you should not forget is that GHOST as a band is basically a business. Not less than the Vatican. You are selling a product. Yes, we sell a product. They do that too. You just pack it differently. Everyone knows that they sat down in Nicaea in 325 and put together the package now known as the Bible to control the Christian movement in Rome. This was definitely a commercial plan. The result has since been used constantly by people who exploit others and use them to their own advantage
Well done sori. Dont be a snob vin. Vin don't need to be heavy or complex to get higher than a 6.😉 Guarantee you with be humming this later "can you hear the thunder"
I really like Vin's reasoning. The lyrics of Ghost was what drew me to them as they are surprisingly knowledgeable and well put together. I am not sold on Ghost being a genuine satanist group though. Remember that a good artist, or a craftsman, studies his craft to get better.
They’re geniuses for doing so. If you look at past bands, some bands became iconic and a staple in rock and metal history. Kiss for example (Ik not the same kinda rock lol) but their look became iconic aside their songs.
@@empressraven they really arent lol, this man goes on stage dressed as a dead pope with the accent of dracula. He makes fun of himself constantly, jokes about orgies, plays the kazoo at acoustic shows and has the "birds and the bees" talk with his audience. They do not in the slightest take themselves seriously, especially not as a serious satanist group. Tobias and Martin have both said its basically all for shock value and the lyrics are to get you to look at the whole picture. God, Satan, demons, everything. Not just one sided like the churches would make you think. The entire Meliora album is about how Churches manipulate their audiences and "make them feel lost without them"
@@baileylarson2661 they really are. And what makes them even greater is the fact they convince people like you that they’re not. Thus more masses listening to their songs
Wow, I’ve known about this song for ages, even have all of Ghost’s albums. But up until I heard you say ‘Cirice’ in this video I always read it as ‘Circle’, not realising it was spelt differently 😂
You should watch the music video, the Mum says it at the start to the central character. It’s a pretty cool video, actually. Sorry.. “aaaaacccttuuuallllllyyyy!”
I love Ghost, i'm an agnostic, and honestly I clicked these bored, at first, to scoff at these vids. BUT Sori, your open heart, and Vin your ability to treat different views as that, views, and not just evil.. wow. I subscribed, and am very much impressed with your characters. If more of your faith had your souls? That would be world changing.
I love how the head rocking really hesitated when the words came in. Get over it, Ghost is an amazing band and it doesn't matter whether you're a christian or not. Enjoy it. You live only once.
There's a difference between what the song means and what one think it means. If you feel or think something else than the other, it's just preferences and opinions. There is no right or wrong when it comes to ones own opinion on what art or music for example feels or makes you think. If Sori feels like it's a love song, then it is, in her mind, and nothing should try to change it, imo :) PS: Ghost, Zenith. A great one.
22:51 What Vin says here, and how Sori gets *very* emotional, evoked a strong emotional and a intellectual response in me. In a nutshell, the saying fits: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." And, to quote the *entire* lyrics of Napalm Death's 1987 recognized-by-Guinness-World-Records classic song You Suffer: "You suffer-but why?"
That's exactly what I was talking about in one of my earlier comments about similarities between Christianity and Satanism. The concept remains the same but it can be named (or ascribed) differently. The agent that sees the thunder in your heart that everyone overlooks can be the devil (as meant in the song) but it can also be God, if you choose so. For a Satanist God is the uncaring tyrant who doesn't understand your nature and Satan is your ally who gets your pain. For a Christian Satan is the deceiver who pretends to side with you and God is the one who knows you better than you know yourself and loves you the way you are. Same stuff, different definitions.
Also “Secular Haze” is a really cool 60-70’s tv style live performance music video. Almost like the classic boy pop bands used to do coming out of the 60’s. Its good stuff. Their studio live performances are also worth watching instead of lyric videos. But I agree its less distracting without the visual.
as many people have already pointed out, 'Cirice' means church in old english. In my opinion, the song is about men of the church taking advantage of hopeless, vulnerable people ('Cant you see that you're lost.. without ME?'). Even if you're christian, that message should still speak to you since I'm sure no christian would in their right mind ever be supportive of such acts.
Thank you for the honest reaction for this song. I think this song relates to the pain in people's hearts. It was really endearing to see how much you guys care about people. I wish there were more people like you in this world. Can't wait for the next Ghost reaction!!
They aren't really old enough of a band to say that. It was like 6 months after their first album that they spread like wildfire throughout the metal community.
This was such an interesting discussion. Absolutely love Ghost and absolutely love you guys. I'd love to hear what thoughts their song "He Is" sparks within you two.
I know you guys like to see the lyrics when you listen to the songs but you really have to watch the official videos, for the songs that have them. Some things in the videos will answer a lot of your questions. Also, after, look up what Tobias himself explains regarding the real meaning(s) of the lyrics. Also they are not technically really satanists. The story behind Ghost and the various characters created by Tobias is very intricate. Each album has a theme and is part of the evolution of the story. There are also mini episodes, separate videos, that are like a movie which you have to watch along with listening to the albums in the correct order. I am a brand new fan and it took a while for me to realize the complexity of Tobias Forge's complete creation. I do like your videos and it is interesting to hear your interpretations and discussion. Thank you!
out of all the UA-cam reaction pages this one is by far the best. The breakdown and actual attempt to comprehend the words is amazing. Kudos to Vin and Sori for their intellectual breakdowns.
Hey Vin and Sori. I love you two. I don't often make comments on your videos but I wanted you to know I watch as many of your reviews and reactions as I can and you two both help me with a lot of things you don't even know about.. I sort of feel like you two are kind of like an extended family I don't often get to talk to. I never go to anyone with my problems, but watching you two just helps somehow. Thanks a lot, truthfully.
These guys are very much familiar with religious beliefs and scriptures unlike other bands, just read lyrics from « Year Zero » or « Bible » If you guys want to react to some black metal with GREAT lyrics, try MGLA, « Exercices in futility » 1, 4 or 6 :)
Nobody understands the lonely and desperate like the devil.how could a god that's constantly praised by loving followers ever understand loneliness and desperation? He is the first outsider, the first rebel and he was the first to have a broken heart.
Simon Harris there is no “nitpicking” he made a statement. He’s implying that believers couldn’t possibly understand loneliness and desperation. He’s stating that Satan has a unique and exclusive understanding of an emotion or feeling. It’s a very pointed and one sided statement. I’m presenting that the one sidedness of his statement is flawed.
This song represents an Evangelical preacher trying to relate to a parishioner. Trying to be relatable to him by saying I understand everything your going through all the while saying they are lost without him. "Him" not meaning god but the preacher himself.
You all should watch the official video to see if you think it's the devil. What I get from it is that someone is beaten down by conformity to society and a kindred spirit can see it in her and says I understand, I'm the same, come on over. Of course when you see the end of the video you might have a different take...LOL
Ha! Loved the fingers at the camera early on in the song. Also you need to make a t-shirt that has a picture of Vic with his fingers to his face as he stairs into the great chasm of the galaxies as he does in ever video
Watch the original video, no doubt this is about the devil :) Devil horseshit aside, I love this song musically. The solo was reminiscant of Deep Purple to me and the main riff is super catchy and innovative. Good review, as always!
That's honestly what I love about Ghost, the dual layers. I think the non-devil explanations are just as valid, and based on what was said about He Is as being valid to interpret as being about god or the devil or anything. I think its *meant* to have those dual meanings depending on how you want to take it.
You probably shouldn't take it too literally. They have "fired" their lead singer (not really, it's still the same guy) twice for "Not overthrowing the church and the government" :D
Sori, Ghosts music does that to you. Makes me feel happy and emotional when I listen to them. Especially going through the shit that I am at the moment. 🤘🏼

first of all, thank you for you videos! I'm not a christian and I don't even know in what I believe, but I really enjoyed your point of view, its really nice to see a video like that, different interpretations, because I feel like if I was talking to both of you about the song, and since I don't have many friends to do this, its great! And its also a great exercise to continue learning english! Thank you!!
Sori all your videos feel like hugs for me, so keep making them :) I fell in love with ghost and it's actually the band that's making me calmer and more self aware on some weird level because i'm bipolar and have split personality disorder.
Tobias says its pronounced Sir-Rees. I thought it was circle at first too. Amazing song. One of the best songs musically I've ever heard. Tobias is a freaking genius musically.
Yeah, older roy khan fronted songs like Farewell (a fav of mine). But people always go for the more popular and "new" songs for reactions, at least at first so just go with it. Liar liar is actually a great song too so it doesn't matter that much.
I really appreciate that you guys actually listen to the song through and don't pause to ramble every 19 seconds and rewind. Better reaction vids as you actually listen to the song.
Especially those that are fan made by people that don’t check the lyrics and can’t spell. Add 90s graphic transitions and I’m ready to start yelling at the computer screen.
Thanks for reminding us that in the end, it's good to recognize your suffering but also not depend on anyone else to solve it for you. Take personal responsibility to understand yourself and use that to make yourself a better person.
"There are certain elements in our society who make a very big deal about victimization" Dear Vinand Sori You try to talk about politicians an their behaviour but forget their ultimate thoughts model --> the church The church is the biggest instance in our history A.D. that uses these tools against millions of people.
I feel your presence amongst us, you cannot hide in the darkness. it's the person who's heart is breaking, hiding in the shadows to keep their pain to themselves.
Really enjoy this song. Probably the only Ghost song i really enjoy. I think youd enjoy Draconian - The Morningstar. :) Remember? I told you months ago that you would enjoy their poetic lyrics...
Been watching you reacting to Ghost songs for a while now-Sori! Don´t mind Vin, you´re ready Sori, don´t even think about fighting it, you are aching for it, come the F on and join the dark side!...
I think a good way to handle someone who is a "victim" in any situation is acknowledgement (just as in the song). If you minimize the problem by saying "dont worry, its gonna be allright" or similar you minimize the problem for the person. Empathy plays a big role to help.
I have a list of suggestions and I don't know if you guys could do the entire list but here I go! From the band Rotting Christ I would like: Quintessence, Dying and After Dark I Feel. From the band Inflames: Episode 666. From the band Dark Tranquillity: Format C: For Cortex.
This sounds good and all, but then your soul is on fire for eternity.
The Devil wants you to fail therefore you shall not improve to nothing. While God wants you to improve and become what you was born to be.

Cirice is an old English version of the word church so it's really a no brainer.)
Don't cheapen everything by imagining it's all make out songs. There's already alot of those. No offense. Just my opinion.
Ghost AKTUALLY won a Grammy for this ( please don't hurt me if you already knew😂😂)
Also love how adamant sori is on this not being about the devil. 😂

They don't know anything
Their live performance of Monstrance Clock from hellfest where they throw condoms into the crowd while a childrens choir sings backup vocals is my favorite.
"I feel your presence amongst us/ You cannot hide in the darkness" might refer to the actual person he's trying to reach out to. Because a heartbroken person can try conceal their pain so others can't see.
Cirice might be my favorite Ghost song. Unnerving yet beautiful lyrics (I know the song's about religious indoctrination, but still, haha), and just some kickass music behind it all. That opening riff is pure gold.
Vin & Sori, Cirice, it pronounced "SirEEce" Word has different spellings in other languages, but in Old English means "Church"
MrTech226 In old English it was pronounced "KirEEke", because "c" was the originale form of nowadays"ck"
oh ok, thanks for clarification.
That makes sense because Vin says in the reaction that's the method of the church!! Thanks for the translation!!
For this usage however, if you watch the video, at the beginning you can hear the mother call the little girl Cirice (pronounced SirEEce).
kitoyobeni1 so they do not know it: fine!
SHPOKEMOUN i agree
Cirice is a goddess . this is about her helping Odysseus's and his men. Its a Greek story. Helping them find their way.
megajerk2000 never heard that but ok..since why woould they talk sbout a godess, they never go after that type of religion and mythology..This is about cirice that means church in old English..look up the explenation of the song this is confirmed by ghost many times
Look up the story of her. Then think about it. Remember they are Swedish. Why would they use old English.
Tyler and the second one is the most anti-religious, Idolatrine being the best example
They aren't real Satanists, but Tobias sure isn't fond of religion
@@kainyyythey are
@@evelinkalinics8276 They are what? Satanists? And would you perhaps know that for a fact?
It was BC "Because Copyright". They weren't allowed to use just Ghost in the States because of copyright. It was meant as a remark on that crap.
metalequine You are taking it too literal.
Dirkschneider Yes Imagine is very atheistic

Ghost is such an underrated band. Glad they are getting some recognition now. Sabaton-The Last Stand is needed now.
They're one of the most popular modern bands though.. I don't think they're underrated really.
No, they are not underrated. They are even more known than a vast mayority of bands which started the metal genre in the 80's.
That's because of the music focus that Ghost has and the internet influence which was not a reality in the 80's.
They are popular now. Where were they when Meliora came out? Granted, in Europe they are extremely popular.
They were underrated until recently. Nowadays they’re finally catching on. :)
They are super popular now
I'm in awe of the depth of your analysis of this song!
*virtual hugs*
While the song is probably about the devil, the thing about music is it doesn't have to soley be viewed as what the writer intended it to be. You can interperate it how you want, that's the beauty of art.
Josh Grooves
I agree to a certain degree.
Religion is one big joke, only gullible people believe in God and Devil
the song is accepting Lucifer into your heart
Lol only crazy people believe in Lucifer
Since one of my colleagues did an interview with Tobias Forge recently, I will just post some excerpt here to see how his relationship to religion is (sorry for potential errors in translation, I was too lazy to translate sentece by sentence from german and just threw it into google translator):
Small topic change.
He's saving the +6's for the new Tool album.
Kiss for example (Ik not the same kinda rock lol) but their look became iconic aside their songs.
they are very much so a satanist group

This song always gives me goosebumps. Will be seeing them in concert next month!
There's a difference between what the song means and what one think it means. If you feel or think something else than the other, it's just preferences and opinions. There is no right or wrong when it comes to ones own opinion on what art or music for example feels or makes you think. If Sori feels like it's a love song, then it is, in her mind, and nothing should try to change it, imo :)
PS: Ghost, Zenith.
ACTUALLY.... It's "si-reese" lol
Awesome song, and thanks for another great video 🤘
Great reaction video for Ghost...I believe they are heading to the top of the herd in the rock and metal world!!

as many people have already pointed out, 'Cirice' means church in old english.
In my opinion, the song is about men of the church taking advantage of hopeless, vulnerable people ('Cant you see that you're lost.. without ME?').
Even if you're christian, that message should still speak to you since I'm sure no christian would in their right mind ever be supportive of such acts.

Nobody understands the lonely and desperate like the devil.how could a god that's constantly praised by loving followers ever understand loneliness and desperation? He is the first outsider, the first rebel and he was the first to have a broken heart.
The killing joke many many believers experience loneliness. It is not a segregated feeling
Dirk Diggler I never said they don't what I said was that the devil understands it better than anyone.
The killing joke your first line is “nobody understands”!
Dirk Diggler
Nobody understands it like him he said? Not nobody understands period. Not sure what you're nitpicking at
Simon Harris there is no “nitpicking” he made a statement.
Xenophon It is about the devil.

If you watch the original music video, you will have no doubt it's about the devil. Amazing song.

For the whole world! The music video would be cool.
Kamelot has been a suggestion of mine for a while
But there's so many better representations of Kamelot..

I think youd enjoy Draconian - The Morningstar. :) Remember? I told you months ago that you would enjoy their poetic lyrics...
Smithysmithin Yes Anders is one of the best lyricists in the world.
Stefan Matic i know! But they wont listen to us haha
Been watching you reacting to Ghost songs for a while now-Sori! Don´t mind Vin, you´re ready Sori, don´t even think about fighting it, you are aching for it, come the F on and join the dark side!...
Please react to protest the hero heretics and killers.
Testament
Bloodmeat dude
Both awesome suggestions \m/
I just remembered about that song a few days ago. It's so good. The video that goes with it is pretty damn cool, as well. Good choice.
Wow, didn't expect to see this here
great Canadian hometown boys, them. good on you
The song about a Girl (Cirice - name)
And about the Devil (maybe) and it's very COOL!
I love when a song contains many meanings!
Ghost - He is
or Rats
I think a good way to handle someone who is a "victim" in any situation is acknowledgement (just as in the song). If you minimize the problem by saying "dont worry, its gonna be allright" or similar you minimize the problem for the person. Empathy plays a big role to help.
Ghost - Satan Prayer
Best song about having a wank ever
I have a list of suggestions and I don't know if you guys could do the entire list but here I go! From the band Rotting Christ I would like: Quintessence, Dying and After Dark I Feel. From the band Inflames: Episode 666. From the band Dark Tranquillity: Format C: For Cortex.
I enjoy seeing how you help each other understand and unravel the lyrics of these songs that I enjoy so much! Keep it up!😎🤘
