46:39 'I'm incredibly suspicious with the girl version of him'...
Shall I spoil you? Well.. it's not really spoilers, because if you read the detective conan wiki you'll find many information about her a.k.a Ai Haibara. And yes, she is an incredibly important character (and the most well-liked/popular character and female character in Detective Conan franchise).
      Spoiler alert!!
Conan or Conan Edogawa actually a 17 year old teenage boy and famous teen detective named Shinichi Kudo in the body of 6-7 year old boy, because of the drug made by 'Black Organization'. And this Ai Haibara is actually the scientist who made the drug.. She is actually a 18 y.o genius girl name Shiho Miyano who was in the organization because her late scientist parents and sister was in it, so even if she didn't want to do it, she had a hostage, her sister, so she had to do anything the organization told he to. So when the organization got rid of her sister (because she wanted to free herself and her sister, but her attemps failed and they killed her, camouflage it as suicide because of burglary she did), she boycotting the drugs' production and messed up the research's data too. While they apprehended and jailed her, she ate her own drugs, thinking she'll die and reunited with her sister and parents, but ended up shrunken just like Conan. So she ran away and knew her only savior will be Conan/Shinichi (whom she initially save from organization's further investigation by marking him as 'dead' instead of 'missing' in test subject of the drug). She ended up passed out in front of Shinichi's old house and found by his neighbor, Professor Agasa, who would adopt her and named her Ai Haibara. Since then she became Conan's staple support in almost everything, because they shared the same situation and genius brain..
I love her! She's incredibly popular and I think she was the 1st one who 'invented' a badass, girl boss character in Japanese's anime when in that era, usually female characters were portrayed as a cute, bright and ditzy girls.. and here we had a genius, pragmatic, cool and no-nonsense female character... No wonder she was the most popular female character in the franchise! And yes, a lot of people prefer Ai than Shinichi/Conan's crush, Ran and rather ship them together (myself included, lol!), because they have better chemistry..

"Is conan big?" Well in japan he is still going 30 years later this year! He has over 1000 episodes, three spin-offs an ova series, live action movies, over 30 big screen movies, 2 lupin the 3rd crossovers, has his own airport in japan based on him with him on the airplanes, a whole town is based on him complete with conan and ran statues all around town, a conan museum is there. Yes a museum based on this show, an escape room at japan universal studios park, cafes based on him, The japan police band played his theme song on instruments at a concert, Conan and the kids dummies modal kids clothes in clothing stores, Has tons of merch, his movie trailers are announced in prime time, has had tons of two hour prime time tv movies and one of conans movies crushed avengers endgame like at a bug in japan and his newest one was in the top 5 (most of it first) for 14 weeks even crushing godzilla and still in the top 20 now. Conan doesn't change OP by seasons, so technically it's true. There's only about ~30 seasons and nobody agrees what's a season (Netflix does by year aired, others do by year released on DVD). Also don't forget there's plenty of 2h / 2.5h special episodes, which are closer to movies than regular episodes.

@@GOTGames Long Run shows specifically are not divided by seasons...
Anime in japan is "seasonal" but only because the year is divided into quarters roughly around the same dates as the four seasons... but that is the only reason why anime with multiple installments of the same franchise is divided into "seasons" since it is quite difficult to get funding, interest and enough man power to keep a show running from start to finish... therefore the shows are often split into "seasons" by forcing things...
Big anime like most big shounen shows are not bound by that and they can actually forego that logic and just focus on making the arcs of the source materials without caring for it's length... not to mention they need to pad the content both within the episode and the fillers in order to give the manga room to breath... therefore the shows CAN either just keep an opening for as long as they like in order to reduce the budget on music themes and opening animation... or it can adjust itself to renew the opening coinciding with the new seasons in order to refresh itself... or it can also renew the opening with each new arc... or it can just do whatever it wants by randomly switching the opening whenever something big happens in order to include new characters or events to hype people up...
Detective conan goes even further than that since it does not have even ARCS at all... since the layout of the show is Solve individual mysteries and then inch closer to the final goal BIT by BIT... There are no "arcs" but "cases" which are usually 1, 2 or even 3 episodes long... and sometimes they have gone as far as having 4 episodes for a single case... the record was around 17 episodes for a single big event that was super connected to be overarching plot in a big way...
Anywho... anime is not lo closed that everything always follows rules or a pattern... though most commonly it does...

    2) Most character don't know that he's older than he actually appears (including his crush). There are some characters that know, but to most he just appears to be a really smart elementary school kid.

Luke as a huge Detective Conan fan (I've dedicated more than 13 years of my life to this series) I am so happy to see you reacting to the openings. This is a series that is unfortunately not as loved in the West as it is in Asian countries especially Japan but I'm proud to say that our fandom is slowly increasing. It's a series that offers mystery, character development, romantic moments some comedy basically a bit of everything. I do know it is long and has many filler episodes which is why for new viewers who want to check it out I do recommend the manga or there are guides to skipping filler episodes.

Great video! I recently caught up to Detective Conan and it's quickly become one of my favourites. Also, to answer some of your questions:
5:00 Detective Conan is a long-running anime, which means that it airs a new episode nearly every week without break. While it is technically split into "seasons", that is only done to categorise Blu-Ray/DVD releases and to mark when the production committee decides to renew the show's funding for another certain amount of episodes. It's not like seasonal anime which usually have a break between new seasons airing. As such, the openings do not change with each season, but instead after a certain number of episodes (some openings are used longer than others, but usually there's around 2 new openings per year.) While Conan's narration at the start of the opening changes each episode to reflect a development in, or the beginning of a new case, the visuals and music remain the same until an opening is swapped out.
13:37 Traditionally, the term filler is used to refer to episodes of an anime that introduce content not originally found in the manga source material. This is more common for long-running anime such as Detective Conan, which includes filler to increase the gap between the anime and manga, so the anime doesn't catch up and run out of material to adapt.
50:33 On Japanese TV airings, most anime will include a sponsorship card at the end of openings to thank the show's main sponsors. However, the sponsor information is added in by the TV network, so on streaming services this information will either not appear or the sponsor card will be fully removed.
53:06 Opening 16 is not fan-made. Like Opening 06, it's mostly comprised of reused footage from older openings. Not sure why the first two Detective Conan openings by B'z got the short end of the stick visually lol.
55:05 Detective Conan is still going strong and is very popular in Japan. It's recent 27th movie has become its highest grossing domestically, and the anime consistently places near the top of Japanese TV ratings for animated shows. Unfortunately, for various reasons, it never really took off in English-speaking countries like it did in Japan and other places around the world. Perhaps that'll change sometime in the future though!
To help clear a few things up, here is a basic story synopsis, covering content only found in the first 2 episodes:
Shinichi Kudo is a famous high-school aged detective who aspires to one day become "a modern-day Sherlock Holmes". While on a trip to an amusement park with his childhood friend and crush, Ran Mouri (the brown haired girl who appears in every opening), Shinichi tails a suspicious guy donning a black suit, witnessing an illegal transaction before he is ambushed by the man's partner. Half-unconscious, Shinichi is force fed a poison developed by the "syndicate", which is believed to kill without leaving a forensic trace. However, rather than killing him, it instead has the quirky side-effect of reverting Shinichi's body back to that of a child. At the advice of his neighbour, Professor Agasa, Shinichi decides to keep his new identity a secret, fearing that the organisation will surely kill him if they are made aware of his shrinking, rashly coming up with the pseudonym "Conan Edogawa" when interrogated by Ran. He also goes to live with Ran and her private-investigator father, Kogoro Mouri, hoping this will one day bring him closer to tracking down the "men in black", defeating them, and finding a way to return to his old body.
Thanks for doing this reaction and bringing a spotlight onto the series for English-speaking audiences. I can't wait for Part 2!

HELL YEAH Some of the best openings out there, and an absolutely amazing show. Can't wait for the other 2 parts.
And yeah, you got that right, it's about a Detective (who really is 17) who got turned back into a child by a drug. Without spoiling more than the first few minutes of Episode 1: The reason is that they actually wanted to kill him, but the drug they gave him was an experimental one they tried out on him. The result was not what they expected. For anything else you'll have to actually watch the show.
As for the intro bits: Yes, the introductions for the cases are unique for every episode, this show does a very good job of every Episode being self contained, while the bigger plot still continues in the background. Some cases span more than one episode, but that's just a few. I'd honestly think you'd absolutely love the show, BTW, with how much you like solving mysteries with Maomao in Apothecary Diaries. It's just that this show is longer than One Piece. So I doubt this will ever win a tournament.

  • @Krawbs

Filler in anime refers to content not adapted from the manga/source material.
When an anime is close to catching up with the manga the anime team will make up their own content to give the manga time to progress the story. This is most common in anime that consistently air on a weekly basis like One Piece or Naruto(back in the day).
Filler tends to be episodes/arcs that offer no story/character progress and are ignored in the overall story so serve little purpose. They also tend to be really bad and can even cause people to drop an anime if they go on for extended periods of time. Sometimes you will get some good filler episodes that add to the arc/overall story like you just watched in Demon Slayer.

@@GOTGameslol it’s sci-fi at best, but there’s somewhat of a slapdash explanation given for how it works. Essentially, it causes overproduction of something that causes cell death (I believe it’s AIF proteins, but honestly don’t worry about it), so it basically causes sudden and spontaneous organ failure. But it also has enzymes that increase cell production at the same time (I’m not sure why, I just know it wasn’t originally intended to be a poison so I assume this was the intended effect, not the uncontrollable cell destruction), so very few victims of the poison are able to produce cells as quickly as they lose cells, and the only time in a human’s life-cycle that can be supported during is childhood, hence the regression to a younger age. That last part is the especially sci-fi part because it doesn’t actually make any real world sense, but that’s how it’s supposed to work in-universe 😅

As a Detective Conan fans since 2004, I could not be happier when I see you posted this video, Luke. I loved this series so much that I just watched the latest films a few days ago in cinema😂.
If you ever decided to watched Detective Conan, but don't want to watch a lot of fillers, you can use a certain wiki guide to see any plot progressions, new important characters introduction, characters development and stuffs.
And you also can follow the movies for this series (Detective Conan releases one movie per year since it conception if I'm not mistaken. Not to mention a few crossover movies with Lupin the Third). Each of the movie also had their own ending songs, except for a few latest ones, which they shared the ending songs with the current aired episodes openings iirc.
Talking about Detective Conan without mentioning Kuraki Mai is a sacrilegious; she is best known for singing the theme songs for the Japanese television anime series, Detective Conan. As of October 2020, she has recorded twenty-three songs for the series and earning her a Guinness World Record for singing the most theme songs for the same television series.
Not only Kuraki Mai, we also has Garnet Crow, Zard, Rina Auichi, the works.
Okay, to answer some of your questions without spoilers cause the info below can be taken from first episode; Kudo Shinichi is famous for helping police force to capture criminals. He was lauded as Heisei Holmes (because he was in Heisei era (1989-2019) and people comparing him with Holmes, with he took it with a great stride since Holmes is his aspiration).
The girl you said as his sister in the beginning is his childhood friend (and long time crush). After Shinichi shrunk, he lived with his childhood friend since her dad is former police and currently private investigator, so Shinichi (or Conan now) can gather information about the group that poisoned him.
As you said, it doen't make sense why those people try to shrunk Shinichi. Well, they poisoned Shinichi with a prototype poison that supposedly couldn't be trace, but instead the poison shrunk his body into a child.
As for his real identity, only a few people knew because, I quoted one of the character, "If they knew you still alive, the people around you will be in danger." Not even his childhood friend, Ran, knew.

As a German I think I’m speaking for everyone when I’m saying, that’s my childhood right there. The German versions of the openings actually are bangers and worth checking out as well!
Filler usually is added for long running weekly anime that are too close to the source material to space things out whenever that be a Manga or Light novel but Manga is where it usually happens. You can either have it in a way where there’s a bit of filler content then source material episodes and filler content again or complete filler arcs of an anime you can skip all together because nothing that happened happened in the manga or is relevant to the story. Flashbacks also aren’t filler btw if they got shown in the manga
For example you can have the squad of whatever anime go search for a cat or run errands right after something big happens for episodes and it’ll feel really weird and unnecessary because well it kinda is ☠️
That’s why even studios like the one of Naruto are moving to seasonal anime where they don’t have to produce filler episodes and just pause the anime till there’s enough new canon material to adapt which also should help with animation quality
The opening Song is the same for a big stretch of episodes but the lines Conan says always change and apply to the content of the episode on google it says there’s 31 seasons

It would have been great to see you watch Detective Conan, but I don't think many people would like to watch that, because it's so long.
If you see the same shots in the opening, its just that they are reusing older scenes because they don't want to spend much time on new animation.
You're asking if the anime is just mellow or has more emotions, almost every episode someone dies or kills someone else, and there are many emotional scenes.
Also, just so you know, there is a main story, it's just not in every episode. And about the girl you say that it's his sister. It's his love interest. This is not a spoiler you can see it in the first episode.

2000+ anime watched... i would call it to be in my top 50... but only because the filler though good... dilutes the score a lot... if i remove all filler which is easy to do since there are lists of the episodes which are actually plot relevant in any way shape or form, since even the manga itself has a lot of content that does not actually develop the plot of the show, then it would easily jump to top 15... maybe even top 10... but that is because i do like a good mystery... for people who are not fans of mystery it would not be as highly rated either...

Then Haibara Ai came along after a while, and reaffirmed Agasa's warning to not let Ran find out, or she would become a target of the B.O. Ran has had several close brushes with nearly being killed by the B.O., and other criminal types throughout the series and the movies, so it's understandable why Shinichi never told her the truth.

Yay, Detective Conan! I used to watch this when I was a kid and I absolutely enjoyed it. If I remember correctly, Shinichi was drugged by an evil organization and they think he died. He had to create the "Conan" identity for his child version so the bad guys won't find out he's still alive while he's trying to find a way to cure himself. He's a highschooler who is famous for his detective skills that he's allowed to help in investigating and it's why he crossed paths with the ones who turned him into a kid.
The OPs are the same for the seasons they're for and they just change up the part that talks about the current episode. Please watch this show, even if it's just the first season or something cause it's super fun. Each episode has a mystery and they show you all the suspects and evidences so even you, as the audience, can have a chance to figure out the answer before they reveal it at the end. It'd be fun to see if you would figure them out. If you're wondering if there's dark stuff in here, well... a bunch of the mysteries involve murder lol.

The sponsors mention in the OP was a common thing in older anime. Sometimes it was mentioned a bit after the OP ends and before the episode starts (which was usually cut out in fansub releases).
The "guy in black" represents the unidentified perpetrator of the episode's crime. Since we don't know their identity until the case is solved, they're always shown like that.
It was interesting to see the change from 90s 4:3 aspect ratio to widescreen once the show reaches the 2000s, as well was the animation quality upgrades and use of more computer generated effects.
Some of my favorite songs in this show were sung by ZARD. Listening to them made me feel very nostalgic but also sad since the vocalist passed away some years ago at a relatively young age.

  • @Mobbin25
    @Mobbin25 6 місяців тому +7

    Regarding your Filler questions:
Anime wasn't usually published in seasons. That it is nowadays is a rather recent development. That means anime episodes where pumped out weekly and due to huge production teams they could sustain that. The usually also weekly published mangas could not sustain this because they are usually drawn by a single person who can get sick or need a break every now and then. You now regular human stuff. These huge shows therefore ran into an obvious problem: They would eventually catch up to the (then (and in case of detective conan or one piece to this day)) still publishing not yet finished manga. Another factor worsening that problem is the fact that often (or at least some times) one chapter of the manga would not deliver enogh material for a 20 minute episode. Especially if there is a lot of action involved, that would need quite a few manga panels (so that readers understand the what's happening) but in motion this action would not need very much time.
Now the anime producers wanted to keep producing an episode every week, so they hat tackle that problem. And the most common answer to this are so called filler episodes. Aka episodes which are anime only. But since the non filler episodes will resume telling the original story from where the last non filler episode left things, nothing of substance can happen . Otherwise you'd be wondering: 'Didn't that guy die last episode? So why is he back?' or: 'Didn't they kiss last episode? Why has nothing changed between them?' or: 'Why aren't you angry at this guy anymore? Didn't he just screw you over last episode?' Therefore in filler episodes the recurring characters will usually interact with some out of the blue appearing new characters, which often feels odd and their problems and story feels odd out of place and either no stakes or unrealisticly high stakes. Also as soon as you can smell the filler (and you usually can do very quickly), you know those new charakters will never appear again after those couple of eipisodes are over. Nothing will happen between the characters you knew beforehand, that will reappear later. And nothing in the world (that you'll ever know of) wil change during those episodes, therefore your usually just bored, hope they're over soon or skip them (if you can).
Also since filler is not written by the original author, it can contain canon breaking stuff, either because it's small canon breaking stuff that the anime producers just did not have the sencetivity to notice, or it's simply something they couldn't know jet since the reason why it would break canon hasn't happened in the manga, yet. To avoid this they are extra caucios not to do anyting during their filler episodes and that's one reason why you can smell filler so quickly.
Detective Conan however is a bit of an outlier regarding its filler. Since the show itself is a quite episodic crime solving mystery show with naturally slow moving plot, the filler episodes are actually not compacted into whole filler arcs and they integrate quite well into the show overall. But since they're so many, after a time they fell a bit same-ish and they make the already quite slow paced story feel very much even more so.

50:29 Well, Detective Conan is a long running series, so they do include sponsors mention like that and it's also common in other seasonal series as well (either the do it in the OP or during the mid-episode break point or ED), though it's only Japan TV airing exclusive, which is why we don't get to see them nowadays, as official english releases get the version which doesn't have them (unlike old days, when fan-sub was the primary source of Anime watch and they used the Japanese TV airing raw as the base).

Detective Conan is a hard recommend primarily due to its length and not being of the genre of most long anime series but is by no means a knock on the series as the series is very fun and really enjoy it myself and it is extremely popular in japan. series does have a lot of filler but when you have a series where most cases last 1-3 episodes with some exceptions that go longer(also has a overarching main plot that spans the entire series) the difference between a canon standard case and a filler standard case isn't incredibly obvious a lot of the time.

Nice! Another mystery crime solving detective anime that came out around the 90s is Kindaichi.
Also, here are my 5 + 2 classic recommendations for your next OP & ED reactions:
    1. (2004) Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha OP & ED (with 5 series, 4 movies and 2 games; OPs & some movie EDs sung by that era's anisong queen: Mizuki Nana)
    2. (2000) Vandread OP & ED (fire retro 90s/00s songs)(check out the EDs for cheekiness)
    3. (2011) Horizon in the middle of Nowhere OP & ED
    4. (2003) Chrono Crusade OP & ED
    5. (2011) Anohana OP & ED
Special mention: (2008) Macross Frontier ED & insert (esp the EDs like "Diamond Crevasse" & "Northern Cross" are a MUST! and their longer forms!, insert songs: Ao no Ether, Yousei)
    classic
    1. (2000) Inuyasha OP & ED
    2. (1996) Rurouni Kenshin (the 1996 series) OP & ED

Fiinally, let's goooo! I absolutely love this series so much, it's got amazing characters, an interesting overarching plot and a ton of interesting cases. If you love mystery and crime solving you would absolytely love this series, it's increadibly fun to watch and despite it's length, much easier to then any of the other big anime I saw (because of it's episodic nature). I really enjoy your reaction to this opening! I'm happy you like them and can't wait for part two and three! ^^
-Answering some questions, yes, the spoken intro is similar but a little different every episode, but the rest of the visuals beside those small snipets are the same for a bunch of the episodes the intro is in ^^
-Usually the cases last one or two episodes, some last three, and sometimes there are an hour long special episodes containing one case that are counted as one episode ^^
-When it comes to the fillers, it is a thing in the long running anime. Someone mentioned it already, but since those series do not have seasons and come out regularly an episode a week, they ofthen come to the point where they run out of manga material. So they produse some random episode of anything just to fill up the slotand so the anime does not have to go on hiatus. Usually it ends up in a very bad very random episodes having literaly nothing to do with the plot and being generally speaking annoing (esspecially if they appear in the middle of some important fight or plot point)
-When it comes to filler in Conan, I personally think they are worth watching nonetheless as this is an episodic anime anyway, they donot feel like filler anyway, just like another small fun cases. I personally watched all of Detective Conan with fillers and never felt anything, while in One Piece or Fairy Tail most of the fillers were super hard to watch as it was painfully obvious they don't have much to do with the original story. In Conan you can rarely feel there are any fillers at all.
-Detective Conan likes to respect their opening artists and a lot of other people, besides snippets of bands in the openings they do sometimes straight up appear in the anime as an animated version of themselves which I find really cool and , well, sompething only show like Conan could achieve ^^ (There were a few instances when they had a famous people in the episodes, like a soccer player and those famous people voiced themselves which is such a cool idea for a filler episode in so popular show, as Conan in Japan is absolutely massive)
-The person who does not look real is how they depict the criminal befor it is revealed who he is but it became a joke in the community to the point of getting it's own small joke series ^^ In the original it's the way of showing some scenes without revealing who is the culprit too early ^^

10:17, you are right. It IS BIG. Detective Conan is an underated gem of anime! With One Piece, Detective Conan is THE longest running Anime ever with over +1130 episodes and over 105 vol. of manga.😆 In Japan they have a museum of Detective Conan, trains and even a kind of Detective Conan town.
It is a great mystry anime and the creator, Gosho Aoyama, is using most of the tricks and equipment in the single case of the real life. It´s a great YT video here with an interview with Gosho some yrs ago.
Best thing to begin with Detective Conan would be to watching the movies, currently they are over 27 movies of Detective Conan. Most of them are really entertaining and you can see the progress of animation in the last nearly 30 yrs.

The Detective Conan anime was first aired on January 8, 1996 . so it is 28 years 6 months 29 days old anime
    the story is about :
Detective Conan is about a high school detective named Shinichi Kudo, who is poisoned by an evil group called "The Black Organization" because he saw them dealing guns. The poison was supposed to kill him . because the poison was a prototype and defective , the poison instead turned him into a small child the purpose of the poison is ti melt a body until no evidence left so Neighbor and family friend Professor Agasa strongly suggested Shinichi hide his identity to prevent them from killing him and the people he cares about, so Shinichi takes the name Conan Edogawa. He goes to live with his childhood friend Ran Mouri and her father, Kogoro, and tries to use Kogoro's detective agency as a way to find the people who shrank him without letting the organazation found that his is alive to 1. destroy the organization . 2 to found the sample of the poison he eat so he could create an antidote and make his body back to normal

It's not really a spoiler if it's explained in the first episode right?
So here a little explanation, read it if you want:
The High school detective Kudo Shinichi (17) sees something suspicious and get's caught snooping. To get rid of him silently those people use a new drug on him that's supposed to kill him, but instead of dying he shrinks into the body of a seven year old. To protect the people Shinichi cares about he hides his real identity and takes on the name of Edogawa Conan while tracking down the mysterious organisation responsible for his situation.

DETECTIVE CONAN ONE OF MY FAVORITES OF ALL TIME!!!! every few months I get obsessed with it and watch a lot. I've been reading and watching detective conan since early 2019 and I don't think I'm ever catching up lol. But yes, I think you'd love it!! The only reason I've never recommended it to you as a youtube/twitch series is copyright and bc it's so frikin long idk if you'd ever get through it lmao.
The format is. There IS an overarching story, but it isn't always present. Every once in a while, there are full episodes dedicated to it, but most of the time, it's conan and friends solving other mysteries (mostly murders, but other crimes too). It's mostly episodic, but sometimes a mystery will take two or three episodes instead of just one. VERY rarely you'll get entire Arcs at once. Because of this structure, once you know the basics, you can pretty much watch any episode. Of course, the Best way to watch is probably still In Order, but it's also totally chill to jump in anywhere once you've seen the first few arcs and get the main idea. Same goes for the movies! They release one nearly every year and you don't need much context from the main series to watch them.
My favorite is when there's an episode that seems super chill or unrelated to the [spoilers] but then BOOM. MAIN PLOT JUMPSCARE. Makes me go OOOOOO!!! OUGHGHGHHGHGHGH every time.
My favorite episodes/movies are the Magic Kaito crossover ones. before detective conan, the series author had a different manga, Magic Kaito 1412. It didn't do too well, initially, so the author started detective conan. But when conan started going big, the author decided to make the two series officially part of the same universe and have episodes in each separate series where they would cross over. The main character of magic kaito 1412, Kuroba Kaito, is actually my favorite character in the detective conan/magic kaito universe (often abbreviated as just DCMK). He's a phantom thief, known as Kaitou KID, who's after a specific jewel. With the official crossover, he and conan became rivals, a phantom thief and his favorite detective. It's a super fun dynamic, and the episodes and movies that focus on the two of them and some heist are my absolute favorites!!!! Btw. Yes his name is Kaito. yes his secret identity is 'Kaitou KID.' Yes kaitou means phantom thief and his name is Kaito. Very subtle we are aware

Back in the days, anime openings do include an announcement of sponsors at the end, and I believe some still do it nowadays, but streaming services usually cut them out now.
Also, some anime do reuse scenes in the openings, which is why you'd see repeating shots between openings. (You'll get that again if you ever decide to react to all Gundam openings.)

Filler is anything non-canon which is used to allow the source material time to move further with the story. The thing with fillers here is they're done so well you'd think they're part of the plot.

  • @awakenedcrowl
    @awakenedcrowl 6 місяців тому +6

Why do so few people recommend this?:
Well... because most fans of this anime have accepted, that most people we recommend it to look at the episode count and nope the heck out. Either that, or they just selectively watch a few episodes, thinks that it's just "children detective stories" and nope out because of that. I absolutely reccommend to watch it! And if you don't want to watch a thousand episodes, then just know that more than half the episodes, the "fillers", do not contribute to anything at all but are really just "fillers" for the japanese TV to be able to send something fresh, while the manga is rather slowly published.
The thing with this anime is: In the West, it's pretty niche. Especially because most people abandon it over what I have mentioned, and don't even get the chance to become invested with the main plot, which is AMAZING. But in JAPAN, this feckin anime is as big as the likes of One Piece and Naruto, if not bigger. In Japan, there are airports, train stations, EVEN SOME TOWNS that are themed just after this anime! It's THAT big over there. All while german little me still has to beg for an actual simulcast, while the german dub gets continued with a few episodes every 2 years, after the german anime being COMPLETELY stagnant for more than 12 years at one point. But it's not that bad everywhere in the west. I think the US has a proper simulcast, meaning you could probably find a way too legally watch all the episodes. (do you even live int he US? I don't know)

  • @Sup_D
    @Sup_D 5 місяців тому +2

13:37 Filler Episodes, are basically plot which aren't present in the Original Source (which in the case of Detective Conan is it's Manga adaptation).
Usually Filler Episodes are created to create a sufficient gap to allow the Manga plot to move ahead, so that the Scriptwriters are able to properly incorporate the main plot in the Anime.
This is why, majority of the time, Filler Episodes don't have proper or good plot, and are not related to the Canon Manga plot (except a rare few), which is why they have low preference within the community.
Why a need to create a gap?
Well it's because the rate at which the Anime covers a plot is different from how long the Manga takes to cover the same plot. Like in the Original Manga, while say a case plot took like 5-6 chapters to cover (aka., 5-6 weeks, since it as weekly series), but the Anime would cover the same plot in 2 episodes (in 2 weeks). It's because of this quick coverage, that they create Filler Episodes to space out the primary plot.
