Those subs were terrible : It's "Long Ring Long Land". You should stick with Kaizoku-Fansubs until ep 309.
A bit late, but the word Chopper used for Cheri/Shelly was "kirin" which, while it's also used for the mythological creature of the same name, more commonly just translates to giraffe. Chopper thought she was a giraffe, because she was so long.
The fact that the subs said "unicorn" was a pretty immediate indication that the subs were, pardon the unintentional pun, sub-par.
Btw in the manga Cherire the horsewas shot by a bullet but in the anime a net!
you know how ancient sailors put names to ocean phenomenons, like "sea monkeys" , well Oda takes those and makes them literal, so in this case they encountered a wild pack of monkey seas that like to play by making waves

Honestly, don't skip the fillers. Though they may not do any world building, they do develop the characters during these filler arcs. It's funny and wholesome, i mean if you enjoyed G8 arc, check out the rest.

So this arc is kinda half filler. They stretch it to twice as long. I think this is the worst part of One Piece.
But the next arc is the best
