Definitely going to get this tomorrow. I’ve been pulled back into Elite Dangerous again, these spells normally last a few weeks. I will 100% be giving this a good run. Looks very interesting and entertaining. Good job (first impressions) Devs.
This game would slap hard af if it were in a low/mid fantasy setting, with some magic in it. Right now tho, it just slaps hard. Picking this up on release for sure. W game,
God please NO. I am so sick of the fantasy bullshit, I really wanted a realistic medieval game without any magic, dragons and crap. Steam is literally full of fantasy games.

Was that music from Nox? holy lord I have not heard that in decades. Excellent choice. that game got totally over shadowed by d2 but man it was special
I find rimworld gets too busy after a while and you get swamped in micro management. Mic Man is enjoyable to a certain extent but it needs to be part of a levelling process, let the AI deal with lesser responsibilities as you deal with more complex evolving tasks. I don't think Norland is any better that way, its more of the same with a different skin and possibly more convoluted.
This game definitely has potential to become a hit in the genre. I wish they didn't have this crappy Rimworld/Prison Architect character design though, comes off super cheap and lazy compared to the rest of the world aesthetic which actually looks pretty good.
Conclusion is spot on. The games a bit of a hot mess atm, but theres definitely potential for the future. Some outside input to iron out things like the rings mood boost(just crass and very basic) and making the excel spreadsheet a little less obvious and this could become a decent little addition to anyones library.....i doubt it'll ever be a Rimworld or CK killer tho.
"a name you can trust" If you honestly trust Hooded Horse, then you're just plain naive. 1. NEVER trust anyone that wants your money, you should've learned this when you learned to walk. 2. Hooded Horse is notorious for having MORE early access titles under its belt than actual FINISHED games. AND they're very fond of giving excuses and defending said EA titles when they all have an update-schedule of about 1-2 updates PER year. Look at Manor Lords, sure losers will say "it's a sole developer". Well 1. no it's not just one developer anymore. 2. It's NEVER an excuse, if you make a game, then finish it before expecting ppl to pay for it, if you know it will take you 10years to finish it. Same will happen with THIS game, it will stay in EA for many many years. They might say 2-ish years, but no, it will change, and will be finished at best in 2029. IF it even gets finished. So no, Hooded Horse doesnt automatically make this a "safe to put your money into", nor does it guarantee the game will EVER be finished, or even in your lifetime. Such a dumb idiotic thing to tell your viewers, that they can basically "trust" a certain publisher. Will you refund everyone that trust in your word, and then end up with a paid game that never got finished? No you won't. So my assumption is Hooded Horse sent you this preview copy, so voila, big surprise you lick their butts. Now Hooded Horse aint BAD, not saying that. But when the majority of your library consists of unfinished games, not only that, but games that's YEARS from being completed. Some of those are games that's been in EA for years already. I would simply wait till this game is actually finished. Even if it takes 5 years, or it never gets finished, at least you havent wasted your money, plus playing EA titles always brings the risk of having to restart the game after certain updates, not everyone is addicted to games and want to replay the same game over and over. This game reminds me of a mix of Rimworld, Going Medieval, Clanfolk, and perhaps a pinch of Manor Lords. At least two of those are published by Hooded Horse - and yes both are STILL in early access... lol. Hooded Horse, where the status is forever stuck in "early access".
An incredibly long winded and inaccurate comment, I was critical throughout the review, HH have delivered three titles out of EA this year, so wrong again. Learn to listen rather writing silly ill informed comments.
I kinda agree. Avoided manor lords like the plague due to the over inflated hype. Esp the part about "single developer" status. Might've been a massive selling point for some but for me, the stone cold reality suggested a looong wait for any significant updates. Having said that, this one seems to have far more depth and I found it on key sites for £12 on pre order, so I've taken the plunge, purely on the price. £34 for manor lords tho😵💫 I could've hung off til later but I think the release price is going to be closer to that than what I've paid tonight
Hooded Horse has so many good games under their belt, like Manor Lords and alot of good indie dev games. Your info is bad and so wrong it's not even funny. And 1-2 updates per year,? yea that's also wrong. But then again indie devs are usually small team sometimes only 1 person, so there's legitimate reasons if theres only 1 or 2 updates a year.
Level headed review, other reviewers are hyping it up and are not offering an objective view. You earned my subscription sir.

Great review, thanks for that.
Early access, huh? Oh well. Wishlisting this now.
I'm trying to decide between purchasing this game and Clanfolk. Any thoughts?
Great review, as a believer of Rimworld medieval overhaul supremacy I'm super excited for this.

A good take on the genre. I haven't tried Mic Man so I will take a look at it. Norland needs a bit of work I think. - Tom

@@SaintKines Crusader Kings...3 to be precise
@cmcc3721 ah, I should have guessed. For me Dwarf Fortress and Song of Syx have become the games to beat in this related genre.
The game seems to struggle as you pan over the area. It seems to lag then. Thats unfortunate.
Wait you cant play as elves or orks? 😥
that would've been nice wouldn't it!
It's about time we got a Lotr based strategy game
A lot of potential, not for me in its current state, but let's wait and see, thanks! 🙂

Geez, graphics look like they’re 30 years old.
Thats a good thing
I remember graphics from 30 years ago. They did not look anything like this...
It really doesnt. You might not like the artstyle, but yea it's not graphics from 30 years ago. Get real dude, and stop writhing nonsense.
