@@rocknroll7316 you anf i must be a bellamy brother babyboomer. 1946-1964. folks born a year after ww2 korean and start of an american war called vietnam.
Priceless--and advice that actually taught me a couple of important things I now try to keep in mind if such a situation arises, from a 'silly old country song', no less.
The inimitable Shel Silverstein wrote this song. I have been a fan of his ever since I was a kid. He was a genius and a true renaissance man who seemed to excel at everything he did. He wrote songs in a number of genres (NOT just country-western), was an brilliant artist and cartoonist, and published books of prose and poetry in a number of styles, including children's books. About the only thing he lacked was a decent singing voice; although his songs were so good, and his style so unique, that audiences didn't seem to mind.
Shel was amazing, just ask the guys from DR. HOOK they did over 20 of his songs including "Cover of the Rolling Stone" I had two shel favorites "Big Four Poster Bed" a hit for Brenda lee and "The Unicorn Song" by the Irish Rovers. And as for shel "A front row seat to hear ol Johnny Sing" is a stand out.
This is when singers sounded just like they did on their recordings. Today you don't need to be a good singer to sale recordings. Auto tune will do the singing for you.
Great Shel Silverstein tune, so many of his songs done by Bobby Bear, Dr. Hook etc. If only we could have had Shel sing more of his own songs it would have been perfect. About the only one we hear is his "to her old Johnny sing". What a record Shel Silverstein sings his hits would have been I can hear his singing "That Four Poster Bed" and "Ha Loretta" and "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" dang..

I think his voice is nearly perfect for his type of music.

This song explains it all.You never know what you will run into in a bar.
It's such a good story and a great song
He had a lot of fun songs.
Lot of truth in this song. If you don't believe it
live long and FAFO. Especially if you like to frequent bars and beer joints.
I live in a rough neighborhood and this song helps keep some of the violence in perspective. Gotta always be the winner.

Yeah, but have you seen the other guy?
Never mess with the old guy at the bar
What show was this on? It looks kind of familiar like something I would have watched in the 70's.
I let my mouth over ride my ability when I was in the army. That was a trip 69 to 72. Still ft. Bragg.
Don't hear this kind of good music anymore
Makes me think about my dad
👍🏼You know if Shel Silverstein wrote it,,It's Funny🎸
Good'un.
You gain nothing by fighting..
They have removed Kris Kristofferson's version of this song. Once you've heard that, no others will suffice..
It's still on here.
Thanks but I don't have anything, but love you
