These types of artists are fading faster and faster, not seeing too many who are stepping up......Like George Jones said not too long before he passed, the new "country" needs to go find their own identity(call it what they will) and give the traditional country music's identity back. I agree whole heartedly, it truly was "Murder on Music Row", as Allen Jackson and George Strait wrote and sang!
Where is the new breed that will take their places ? That can put true honest feeling in their voices and music ? To say they are hard to find is an understatement...
little jimmy was a great guy.he recorded my song in 1991 called HOW MUCH IS THAT PICTURE OF JESUS he helped my music career go thru the roof.thanks jimmy
rest in peace two of the best singer and sing writers we ever known only wish there was better sound quality in this video and also people today never realize that we have it so good with the new technology and equipment back then it was pure tallent now days anyone can get big even if they suck
One thing I enjoyed with the old Country singers was their flashy attire e.g. Jimmy Dickens...Porter Wagoner, etc.....That set Country & Western apart from any other music......Gotta give them credit for going the whole 9 yards in pleasing their audiences, & fans.....This is a super song by Jimmy & Merle....Never did hear this before....
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS. 2 of my favorite singers in one! This is just too good to be true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Love this! b
The Hag is such a great vocalist, I think people don't realize what a great guitar picker he is. Or rather forget. He really is a damn good guitar player
Hendrix is part of an entirely different genre of music. Thats like comparing Dr. Dre to Paco DeLucia, it makes no sense. According to Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard is his favorite singer songwriter and that says alot. Dylan was the first folk singer to go electric. Hendrix was talented, but his strength was in playing guitar, while Merle Haggards strength has always been in writing songs. Much like Willie Nelson, Haggard combines elements of jazz and blues with country music.
Point of fact: Do you truly believe anyone [other than your tasteless self] really gives a shit, pal? I can assure you they don't. (While taking "Hendrix over this", you can go on ahead and take a hike, too, while your at it. Get gone, prick!)
That comment is just about as stupid as anything I’ve ever heard from someone! Take your dumb, comparing apples to oranges ass down the road. I can assure you that Jimi Hendrix himself would think you a complete fool for making such a statement, and disrespecting two legends the likes of these two men.
The hag helped a lot of people in his long career.

How have reached the age of 52 without knowing Little Jimmy Dickens,I’ve missed out all this time.R.I.P. Big man
That's a legendary combination. The big Tater and the Hag. Doesn't get any better.
I'm still mad that the world didn't mourn these musicians the way it did others who did far less.
I agree with you.
Love it. Even when Merle fucks up he is good.
Linda, those two came from the era of when Country WAS Country. (Actually Country & Western) Cheers :-)
Outstanding !
Just can't beat this.

Anyone know what type of guitars they're playing?
Both gone, sigh

Lick it up
I wasn't comparing artists musically, or stating that one was better than the other, but simply saying that I preferred Hendrix to this :P
I
Slcl
Actually Merle would look quiet good in a dress.
I'll take Hendrix over this any day.
