- In this video, I'll guide you through setting up your Android tablet as a second monitor for your Windows PC using a USB cable.
To start, you'll need to download the necessary software from www.spacedesk.net on your PC and install the 'Spacedesk - Display Monitor' app from the Google Play Store on your Android tablet.
Please note that you'll require a USB cable capable of data transfer, not just charging.
Once you've followed the steps in this tutorial, you'll have a dual-monitor setup that boosts productivity and maximizes your Android tablet's potential.

Sam, your instructions are very clear! Everything worked flawlessly. Thanks a million!
Had to temporarily move out of my office leaving my multiple screen set-up behind. Am using the kitchen table with jusy my laptop, and so found this video. Luckily you had the exact same tablet as me, so I watched. Easy to follow steps, and had my dual screen set-up back in no time. It's obviously not the best, using a smaller tablet screen, however, I think it will be much more appreciated when I'm out on the road, and have to dive into an eatery with wifi to get some work done. 5🌟
Thank you for this! I was looking into purchasing laptop monitors on amazon, and then the price scared me. Googled if you could use a tablet as a second screen, and lo and behold, I find this video. Installed that app, tested it and it works via wifi as well!!! This is truly a gamechanger!
Kind regards from Portugal 🙂
just get a pc
Thank you, so much! A lot of videos didn't teach how to do this with an USB cable!
Glad I could help!
Works flawlessly and surprisingly quickly - I'm using it currently.
For anyone who can't get this to work on your fire kindle 10 or above make sure the USB plug can transfer files then on the tablet go to settings, type in USB preference and click it, once there make sure all options arent grayed out, that's how you know if the USB plug can transfer files or not then click on the transfer files option then plug the tablet into the PC, should get a notification to open the spacedesk app.
Is the tablet charging while working as monitor ?
@@medogaming1533 Can't get it to charge while using USB as most usb ports aren't designed for high power devices, ended up using a normal plug and wifi instead of usb connecting. works fairly well through wifi anyway. Would prefer usb but can't get it to charge :/
Excellent walk-thru. Exactly what I need. Thank you so much. It works like a charm. Thank you so much. All the best to you!!
4:45 U can change the icon size to 250% or whatsoever. Worked perfectly for me. I dont use the Touchscreen but its more convenient!
Brilliant, just set my old tablet up as a system monitor.. Thank you very much..

FANTASTIC VIDEO, I WAS USING THE WIRELESS CONNECTION AND IT WAS VERY VERY CHOPPY, THIS WORK MUCH BETTER!!!
This is so helpful!!! Thank you so much for making this video. I have wanted a 3rd screen but didn't have the space for a whole new monitor. using my tablet is going to help so much!!!
That was a great demonstration, Ms.
It worked great! Many thanks. Now I finally have use for my tablet. Hooked it up to work laptop
absolutely amazing thank you so much for taking the time to do this video. helped sort a temporary setup for my stream.
Cheers, easy to understand and enabled me to use an android tablet to use as a discord display while gaming
Worked in less than 5 minutes. Thank you so much

Great step by step tutorial! Great work on your video!
Thank you so much!
Worked really nicely both over WiFi and cable but my remote desktop connection window wouldn't stretch across both displays so looking for an alternative now.
Simple explanation, thank you!
Thank you so much for making this video. It really helped me out!!!!
Thanks a lot this really helped have an excellent life everyone
hi, thx for this tuto, works 100% fine 02/22/24. My set is PC W10 + Tablet Lenovo TabM10 plus 3rd gen.
Thank you so much for this! Clear tutorial - straight to the point. This Lady deserved like and subscribe! Cmon' Guys! :)
Thanks, searching for a solution without software (company policy) - but I will definately try this out on my private PC
This was very helpful thx a lot!!!
A very big thanks to you . Solved my problem
Gracias!!! Exactamente lo que estaba buscando. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for this video!! The best video!
Thank you so much. If you guys have a problem like 2nd monitor gives responses slowly, its probably cuz of slow data transfer of your usb cable. I am just having the same problem but still it works fine. For a smooth performans i am gonna buy a new usb cable which supports faster data transfer. If u buy too, just be careful, its not about ampere but also transfer speed.
Thanks for the video. Would it be possible to transfer a file onto the tablet and use its stylus to make some changes to the file and then save it back to the computer? Say, signing a PDF file?
it works 🙏🏼 thank you so much 💙💙
Thanks for the video!
This is a great video. I do have one question. My desktop has no webcam, I usually use the tab to most zoom meetings. Will I be able to do use the tab for zoom? Can I also share screen from the desktop?
Perfect. Works better than Duet which kept dropping off.
Awesome ! Thank you!
Thank you soo much for this
Hey there, do you think Its possible to use a hdmi to usb-c cable and plug it into the pc's hdmi port? Its mainly so I can use my samsung tablet for drawing but still have a high refresh rate. Unless there's a setting for that in the program. I tried this app but it doesn't suppport tilt sensitivity with the pen for some reason. I need that for drawing.
I can't get it to show, could Android Device Bridge be causing conflicts or something? I've been trying the guide and this video for a while now to no luck (it does show over WiFi, but I need less latency).
thankyou! great video!
Does it work seamlessly like a cheap 10" monitor would? Like if I turn on the computer, the tablet would automatically turn on anc connect as a second display?
It even works with the S Pen with pen pressure, this app is amazing fr
Very Helpful Thanks
thanks this video really helped me
thank you really worked
:)
very helpful, thank you so much! unfortunately smart view doesn't work on my tablet so using this tutorial was very helpful! thank you very much :D
Its work great. Thanks a lot!! 😊
will there be any problem if I plug it in immediately using hdmi to type c cable? 3:09
Thank you very much for the help!
You're welcome!
you are a life saver 🖤
Do you know if you can use the tablet camera as the main camera?
When connecting with USB audio using smartphone speakers, how do I get the audio to come from the speakers plugged into the PC?
this was very helpful so thanks a lot, however when checking the resolution settings the phone screen doesn't appear as an individual monitor, and when switching to second monitor only the resolution is set to 1024x768 with no option to change, would be cool to find a solution for this! and thanks again
Thanks for the video! I was wondering how "difficult" the setup actually is after I saw a post on airdroid lol.
Hey, are you aware of any sort of monitor arm type thing but for mobile devices/smaller displays? I'd really like to bring the display higher up and closer to my face but don't have a way too currently
Hey, yeah there are heaps to pick from on Amazon. I haven't personally used one but just search Tablet Desk Arm on Amazon. Here is one that had good reviews amzn.to/3tBMsCG
Great video!
It work via usb-c 2.0?
Hi, tank u for sharing. How many tablets can u connect that way?
Thank you , only video that helps! (Samsung TAB A8)
Is it possible to do the opposite of this? I want to display the content of my tab s7 plus on my external pc monitor. I know this can be done using phone link via wifi however the connection isn't fast enough for more demanding apps. Can I just hook up my tablet to my monitor using a cable as if it were a pc?
Does samsung stylus works with this? Pressure sensitivity?
You are a life saver❤❤
Is it possible to configure the tablet to only show a *portion* of your PC's screen, or does it always display the full screen, whatever that may be?
Hi, after you initially installed those software.
1. Will the tablet work as standalone monitor without the main monitor?
2. What's the max frame per second?
3. Is the connection a 2 way? It power charge and it connects to pc?
Im quite curious and planning to buy lenova tablets or some highend tablet / rather than buying portable monitor.
is there a way to just connect them via cable hdmi to type c or any converter without downloading apps? coz my company laptop will not allow to install any external apps , i'd like to use my android tablet as 2nd monitor incase of power interruption huhu
Thank you Sam, I was able to achieve what I wanted, which was to use my galaxy tab 6 lite for photoshop. Apparently samsung removed the "second screen" feature for my model.
Is there anyway to do this wit type c to hdmi cable ???
hey how would i go about doing it manually? because for some reason its just not working
Hello, I have been using my tablet as a secondary monitor using SpaceDesk via USB
Is it going to lead to battery degradation or something on my Mi Pad 5 tablet ?
Awesome video! Is it possible to use a USBC to USBC cable with Spacedesk?
*Edit: Turns out you can and it's awesome! Thank you so much for the great video :)
do the second display on supports 30hz ? because mine tablet can go 165hz
Any idea how I can extend my sky device 8Pro to a non wireless external monitor
Thanks a million
Thank you very much
And does the mouse etc show too on the tablet?
Sam, i did what i was told but the thing is that my tablet screen is black and when i restarted my PC it showed my Desktop but it was just frozen (somehow fixed on itself)
mine just repeat the same thing i have on my screen how can i make it work individually like an actual 2 monitor
Mine work like a primary display. Any tips on how to fix it
Hi, great video, I think I'm gonna use this as well :)
But I have one concern: Is the tablet using it's own graphic card to display the image or is it using PC's GPU? Cause if I'm not mistaken (and if I am then correct me please 😅) running 2 different resolutions on 2 different monitors is additional load for GPU, which I'd rather like to avoid.
Thank you so much
Could we make the android phone auto on and off when the pc starting and shutdown?
thank you so much!
great.. thank you
Very good video. Thank you. May i ask whether it should work with samsung S9 FE serie as well?
Yes
It's slow , any means using hdmi to type C to get fast output?
This works extremely well even though it can only output 60fps max on my tablet that has a display panel with 120hz refresh rate.
does it work with other tablets? as long as it can download space desk?
Yep, it should work on any android as long as you can install the app from the play store on it.
This is a result of the speed of the cable
@@owenstockwell4807does that mean with a propper cable it will be able to do higher frame rate?
Thank you for sharing. It was simple to follow and replicate.
thank you this worked
I can connect this through the network, but not through a cable. I can't set the USB to be controlled by the laptop or switch to file transfer through the USB settings. When I connect with a USB cable and try to connect to the laptop, it just shows an empty spot to connect to an IP address.
thank u so muchh it workedd
Thank you for this amazing tutorial Sam, you're a lifesaver. 😄Only if you know how helpful this is for some of us. Your out-of-the-box thinking and unique perspective turned an otherwise mediocre presentation into a fantastic one Mcraespy. You did a good job of catching the mistakes and keeping us from wasting time and by taking the wrong path. Your attention to detail really sets you apart from the crowd. Great work! Sir Greg, Your great work has resulted in tangible, beneficial results to me. You’re a force to be reckoned.
What kind of software do you use to draw arrows on the top of screen?
Its just arrow I got off of Canva and saved as a PNG with a transparent background.
I can no longer download the PC version. Can I get a link where I can download the file for the windows10 64 bit?
thank you very much !!!
Can it do android display on windows computer?
is usb connect much better than wireless?
