Thus we're one video away before the acceptable finale of the Adequately Impressive Three! It was a dark - heralding adventure, but we got through it. When I say dark, I mean there was something faulty with the lights.
It saves budget
The thing that the movies get wrong about Doom is that he’s kinda the nicest guy in the marvel universe.
Now I’m not saying he’s a good guy. ( he’s still a villain for the Fantastic 4)
But it’s hard to make a guy fit into the role of a villain if in the country he rules, he eliminates hunger, everyone gets a home, and he regularly goes out on parades ( on Doomsday, a holiday to celebrate his empire, which is a holiday that takes place whenever he wants) to give gold coins to orphans.
Oh wow... makes us like him that much more while increasing our hatred of 'ironheart' by the same amount.
Not to mention the only reason he wants to take over the world is because he looked into the future and learned the only one in which humanity survives is one where he's the ruler of the world.
And he's RIGHT, Wakanda's panther god said so.
The really stupid thing about Doctor Doom's name literally being Victor Von Doo is that Marvel had already fixed that issue in the comics. There was an "Ultimate" series of comic books in the early 2000's that were kind of a modern (at the time) reboot of classic comic characters to make them less campy and attract new readers while also not replacing the original books, and these books all took place in the "Ultimate Universe." And the Ultimate Universe's version of Doctor Doom only used that as a villain name, because in that continuity, his real name was Victor Van Damme.

I'm with most people when I say we wanna see the Nostalgia Critic reviews of Disney Afternoon, Fox Kids and Toonami after the Fantastic Four movies.

I don’t remember the actual reason for it in the comics. But from what I know of Doctor Doom’s backstory in the comics, I can imagine that he legally gave himself that name as a way to say that he’s the DOOM of his enemies.

Doom is the character that geta the biggest disservice in these movies. He's easily one of the more complicated characters in Marvel's antagonist roster.
He wants to take over the world and has an eternal rivalry with Reed Richards/Mr.Fantastic and an ego too large for any universe.
But its genuenly hard to think of him as a villain, when he transformed Latveria (the country he rules) from a poverty stricken country into , tho perhaps not a paradise, a prosperous nation that has eliminated hunger, most diseases and homelessness.
There are even plenty of instances where Doom has risked his own life to save his people and genuenly believes that the only way to save the world is for him to conquer it as ita better then letting the various world governments and the 1% just waste the resources on weapons and luxuries they don't need(something even members of the Illuminati have partially agreed with him on)
I heard a big reason the movie is the way it is because the studio executives went behind the director's back and changed the movie. Seriously Hollywood, STOP DOING THAT!!! It is going to piss a lot of people off, it makes you look stupid, and you can be sued for it!
It's like, they hire a director to bring their own creative vision to a property they own and they decide to fuck said director over and change said vision to fit their agenda. If they're gonna do that shit, THEN THEY SHOULD MAKE THE MOVIE THEMSELVES!

The place they go to in this film is similar to the Negative Zone like the comics, where it would have made more sense to have another Fantastic Four villain for the film Annihilus, the ruler of the Negative Zone, which the original script was going to be, before the studio changed it to Doctor Doom because he's more well known.
Also, that unfinished Fantastic Four film was a film made with only 1 million dollars, and somehow got more things right from the comics, but was still bad in it's story telling, with so much behind the scenes drama that they cancelled the 1994 film, and was only released as pirated copies to people, and is the only way to watch the film through pirated ways, although you can watch the full film on UA-cam, and even the documentary of what happened behind the scenes also on UA-cam.
well if im not mistaken the reason the budget was so low and that it was never released was that it was purely made as ploy to maintain the character rights

I recommend you watch Pitch Meeting which parodies how some (objectively) bad movies on how they even made it through ... well, the pitch meeting. The older ones on the ScreenRant channel while the newer ones on their own Pitch Meeting channel.
Silver surfer was the 2nd released but the 3rd movie made. (First one was made even though it was canceled during production.) It is the sequel to the one from last time with Chris Evans.

Day 6 of asking if you can please react to "PROP HUNT IN REAL LIFE" by Couch Cast?
I will defend the 2005 Fantastic Four movie to the death, but I felt genuinely insulted by this movie.
I can understand where Fox was coming from when they chose to make Fant4stic a darker version of the First Family, because every single MCU movie up to that point has been a bright, chipper joke fest, and Marvel didn't need another one. But by making it dark, not only did they make it the same as every boring dumb movie in the DCEU, they took away everything that made the Fantastic Four fun in the first place.
I will never defend the 2005 one. It's stupid, poorly written, makes no sense, and the characters are so shallow. And while, yes, it's not as bad as _Fant4stic_ when you compare the two, that doesn't mean it's good. And I hate it when people like a movie solely out of "Well, at least it's not as bad as this other film", because that's not good criticism.

@@MWilmott If you want "specifics", the characters are idiots, the action isn't that great, both Jessica Alba and Julian McMahon are seriously miscast, Jessica Alba is objectified WAY TOO MUCH, these characters are praised for stopping disasters that THEY CAUSED (I don't care if it was by accident), their fame doesn't feel earned, and there SO many things that don't make sense. Like, for example, Reed reveals he can recreate the energy of the cosmic storm that gave them their powers so they can reverse them, but if that was the case, THEN WHY DID THEY SPEND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO GO INTO SPACE?! If there *_was_* an explanation in the script, it's their fault for not including that in the final cut.
The only things I genuinely liked about it were Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm/The Thing and John Ottman's musical score. Everything else? Shit.

1. Miscasting. I supremely disagree with the idea that Jessica Alba was miscast as the Invisible Woman. I think she did a great job in this role, acting as a foil for Johnny's infantile antics, as well as a focus for Reed's character development and growth. I will agree that McMahon as Victor might have been a miscast, but Dr. Doom in this movie wasn't comic-book-accurate to begin with, so I guess those two things cancel each other out?
2. Objectifying Jessica Alba. Yes, I will agree that there is quite a bit of that, but it isn't like Chris Evans wasn't objectified either, like the snowboarding hot tub scene, and the restaurant hoodie scene that immediately followed. I know that doesn't excuse it, but it is a product of its time, and like it or not, sex sells.
3. Lack of Good Action. The Fantastic Four have always been the most passive superheroes in Marvel. They don't save cats from trees or fight convenience store robbers, that's what Spider-Man is for. They don't fight PMCs or terrorist organizations, that's what the Avengers do. The Fantastic Four exist to protect the world from cosmic threats like Annihilus or Galactus or the Skrulls. This movie tries to represent the First Family as they were in the comics, but they also need some action in order for it to appeal, so yeah, how we get to the action scenes doesn't bother me at all. As for the lack of good fight choreography, yes, I would have liked it if the final battle had more action, but considering all they did with graphics tech of the time and how hard it would be to fight with the Thing's practical effects costume (one more thing this movie has that's incredible), I can understand the direction they went.
4. Plot Holes. It is never explicitly stated how much money it cost both to fly up to space or to build the machine, only that the space disaster lost Victor his IPO. For all we know, it might have cost more money to build the machine than it did to fly up to space, or else Reed would have asked for the funding to build the machine first. Also, regarding that "the characters are idiots" comment, I am assuming you are talking about that part where Ben is tricked into attacking Reed. Try to see it from his perspective. Within 24 hours, he lost his job, his wife and his self-esteem. Everywhere he goes, people look at him like he is, in Ben's own words, "the Freak of the Week". So when you see that the one person who can help you is spending less time on helping you and more time chasing some ex-girlfriend tail (again, a deception on Doom's part), you'd be pretty pissed off too, and you might also do something stupid in a fit of rage.

Jessica Alba is barely a passable actress and she did not sell the intellectual side of Sue Storm (because the character is supposed to be a scientist in her own right) and why the fuck should it be okay that Julian McMahon being miscast plus the character not being comic accurate cancels each other out?!
2. "Sex sells"?! Are you fucking kidding me?! So, you like women being portrayed as objects rather than characters? What, are you a Michael Bay fanboy?!?!
Sure, Kate Mara's Sue Storm from _Fant4stic_ was also treated really terribly, but at least they didn't turn her into a sex object.
3. If the Fantastic Four mainly protected Earth from more cosmic threats, then why didn't they write in such a cosmic threat? I can understand wanting to start small, but if the best they could come up with is a dude who can only shoot lightning, that's a sign you need to amp up the threat.
(Side note: this is admittedly something _Rise of the Silver Surfer_ did right, since the Silver Surfer was not only a cosmic threat to prepare for an even bigger cosmic threat (with a very disappointing payoff), but the Surfer's powers actually counteracted their powers).
4. I got why Thing was upset and desperate. But Reed being *_beyond_* clueless on Sue's feelings for him and Johnny whoring himself out was annoying as fuck. And DON'T even get me started on their idiotic passivity in _Rise of the Silver Surfer._
Rise of the Silver Surfer was the sequel to the Chris Evans and Jessica Alba movie, chances are the reason it was uploaded later than Fan4stic was it's likely a re-upload. Also they are probably making another movie to be part of the mcu after having Reed Richards in Doctor Strange: Scarlet Witch Ruined my Film.

This usually implies the current catastrophe caused an accident or roadblock ahead that forces people on foot, but it's just more believable than everyone driving perfectly organized, when we can't even drive WITHOUT a disaster!

@@theduckgoesmoo Yeah, pretty much. They took what Rooster Teeth had made and HBO-ed it in the worst way. It legitimately took everything fun and exciting about the first season and ruined it. If you enjoyed Season 1, for your own enjoyment of the show don't watch season 2. Everyone who has has regretted it.

Well, Duck/Kyle, if you still don't get the Fantastic Four after this (which is very understandable), the idea is kinda easy since they're the Marvel family.
Reed/Mister Fantastic: super-stretchy super genius that can bend, stretch and twist better than even rubber. He's also smarter than Iron Man or Bruce Banner, which is why modern Marvel writers have seen fit to make him look more like a sociopath and uncaring egg head.
Susan/Invisible woman: Wife of Reed and a Researcher smart enough to keep up with Reed, which means she sometimes acts as his moral center because the humanitarian super-genius needed a moral center. She can project energy fields that are invisible and makes everything they surround, including her, entirely invisible.
Johnny/Human Torch: Susan's BIOLOGICAL brother and the adrenaline junky of the team. A ladies' man, a hot-headed (pun not intended) daredevil, and one of the more emotional members. He and Reed do get along up until they come to a moral impasse.
Ben/The Thing: the tough guy of the group who's sort of like the blue-collar roughneck uncle of the "family." Y'know, the one that'll teach Lil Jimmy boxing after a bulky gets him, brings the beer and football on Thanksgiving, etc. His rocky body makes him super-durable and suoer strong, powerful enough to be the Hulk's sparring buddy.
And unlike Spiderman or Hawkeye, they're more of a World Problem group, where they more safe lives and solve problems on a planetary scale. So this movie gets that part sorta right, even how it's kinda their fault. The major issue with thus movie is that it spends too much time on their Origins and not enough on them being heroes, which the three films prior already got on point. That, and the dark and edgy tone of the story, since a story like the Fantastic Four needs the tone and writing of something like Guardians of the Galaxy.
For future reference the order is fantastic 4 fantastic 4 rise of the silver surfer then this attempted reboot i liked all of the movies
The Rise of the Silver Surfer movie is actually a sequel to last week's movie and came out before this week's one. You saw the reviews out of order. This was made so Fox would keep the rights rather than it going back to Marvel. This movie is likely partly responsible for Deadpool being decent. The executives were so busy screwing this up they couldn't pay attention to it.

@@Darkorinth1 No, they didn't. This review mentions the Silver Surfer VIDEO GAME. NC didn't review the Silver Surfer movie until YEARS after this one. You can tell in the progression of the Netflix shows they watch at the beginning. In the 2005 one's review, they watch Daredevil. In this one's review, they watch Jessica Jones. In the Silver Surfer review, they watch Iron Fist, which was NOT out when THIS review went up. Therefore, that review HAD to come out AFTER.

GHOSTBUSTERS! The clip he doesn't want to waste is from Ghostbusters (the original, not the 2016 travesty!). If it was just a case of not recognizing it from a single pic, then GO WATCH IT! RIGHT NOW! It's a really great movie and you've been missing out if you really never saw it.

Disney bought Fox in 2019, so they now own Fantastic Four. We're getting another reboot set in the MCU in 2024. I have faith that Marvel will make the first great Fantastic Four film.

@@theduckgoesmoo What they need to make a good Fantastic Four film is to have a mix of human elements and relatable charcaters with sci-fi. Where the other films went wrong is focusing too much on just the sci-fi and not the human element. Marvel have shown they are great at making personal stories and funny characters so I'm pretty sure they'll get it right.

I said the same thing. It would help to either pause or rewind.
It really got to me during the first episode or so of the Helluva Boss reaction series with Kirby... Because he was showing her the series, but he wouldn't shut up... I remember commenting, and in the next episode they mentioned something how they read all the comments... And suddenly he chimed in a lot less in subsequent episodes.
