@@rafaelcarpio7055 Yup, because it was requested.
Totally underrated movie and book and one that had actually like seeing redone with better special effects
"The ending is wild"
It's pretty much why everyone loved this movie, including King: a diffrence he really liked.
Oh is it different than the books?
@@theduckgoesmoo from what I've heard it is. (quick check) the book seems to end in the car while they are losing hope but they hear on the radio that there is a safe spot so no one dies in the car.
@@theduckgoesmoo Yeah, as far as I remember, Stephen King actually remarked at one point that after he saw the movie, he wished he had come up with the ending the movie had.
Director, Frank Darabont, along with this film, directed a total of three Stephen King Adaptations, including Shawshank Redemption and the Green Mile. The difference being The Mist is the only King adaptation he did that was horror related, with the other two being heavy dramas, and those two were also both nominated for Acadamy Awards. They are definitely worth a watch whenever you do that movie channel.
Fun fact: The ending in the book just ends with the group's car running out of gas and they hide in a drug store and it just ends there; Stephen King himself even liked the movie's ending and stated he wish he had come up with the movie's ending for his book
You should check out the Nostalgia Critic episode North. Its one of the most offensive movies I've ever seen and some critics felt dirty just watching it.
- References in the opening, All movies he reviewed
2:09 Zack Snyder (Director of Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman) and Jubilee (A X men character who was in his review of Percy Jackson, X Men Apocalypse and X Men Dark Phoenix
2:11 Arm belonging to The Grinch
2:15 Casper
2:18 Joker from Suicide Squad
2:29 Villain from The Care Bears movie
2:29 Angry snowman from Christmas with the Kranks
2:38 M.Night Shyamalan. Or ShyAMON
2:41 Doug. A show he absolutely despises
2:42 Arnold Schwarzengger baby from Junior. Where Schwarzenger gets pregnant
- 11:15 Actually she survives. Not sure if Doug didn't notice or just didn't think it added anything but at the end she's shown alive with her kids along with other survivors with the army
- 11:54 Randal Weems is a character from the Disney show Recess
- I argue it's not the effects themselves that scare but the gore that unsettles
- One Woman Wailing soundtrack is a callback joke from his Avatar review
Doug did notice that Melissa McBride's character survived with her kid at 28:20 "See if bizarro Carol likes being a good mother in this universe."
- Carol being the character she plays in the Walking Dead.
Oh God, The One Woman Wailing soundtrack. Haven't seen that since he reviewed the movie Avatar (not the Shyamalan one, the James Cameron one).
I never watched the blue one
I’m glad the military guy’s actor went on to do better things. He’s the voice actor for Maul in Star Wars and had also played and had his face used for the main character in the Force Unleashed games, Starkiller
So the ending of the book basically has a more somber but hopeful ending where there's no telling if the mist is going to stay or not but there's a radio signal from the car letting the group know there's still a chance for society.
The movie ending is basically a full on gut punch of the mist being beaten back but help arrives too late and the main character is left broken in utter despair as he intended to let the monsters kill him horrifically after using the only bullets to mercy kill everyone else.
The ending was so well done that even King himself said it was better than his own ending, and this is the guy that hates Stanley Kubrick's The Shining for not matching his vision despite being a horror classic.
Please react to Nostalgia Critic's review of Fox Kids
You know, I don't think you need to tell us when you haven't seen something. We should just be making the assumption at this point.
6:33 Funnily enough, Half-Life was greatly inspired by Stephen King's original _The Mist_ short story.
That’s actually funny
Watch shawshank Kyle it's one of my families all time favorites
Check out Nostalgia Critic's Hocus Pocus video(s) There is one long one and a disneycember one I think.
For JonTron... after Kid Nation two you gotta do Birdemic... It's an oldie, a goodie, and you'll meet Jaque.
People are so stupid it wouldn’t surprise me if they acted like this if all this actually happened
Yeah me either at this point
21:01 - 21:17 *Again,* surprised you didn't try and go after Secret Window (2004) with how easily you used those Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas/Rango references, Doug.
I'm personally just sick of nihilism and anti humanism
I think this movie was TRYING to go for an H.P. Lovecraft Cthulhu feel to it. But, what made Lovecraft Cthulhu stories interesting and made people read them over and over again, is the fact that the monsters and dark worlds remained mysterious, so you're always left guessing what the monsters look like or what people were up to. Was it a cult trying to bring back an elder god from his exile? Was it people going missing, getting killed, and the whole town's in on it like in Hot Fuzz? Who knows? That's why we like them. Not the Mist. That movie sucked.
The ring isnt so much a “horror” movie as it is a “disturbing” movie, like it will make you uncomfortable and make you see things as being “off” for a while, but not Really be “scary” persay
Flamethrowers can't be used on humans... a cosmic horror doesn't count
Yes.
Tommyknockers is a real movie.
It's ridiculous.
It's over the top in dome ways and underwhelming in others, yet oddly hilarious!
I do hope he sees the Devil review eventually xD that one’s always amusing
yeeeah~ Tommyknockers is a weird one. like i just recently watched he's video and... yep: still one of King's strangest works.
that and Dreamcatcher.
so, i feel like the next episode you should watch of Nostalgia Critic should be Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, one of his new videos. i don't care if you never heard of Jimmy Neutron, but it's a pretty funny and fun video.
29:55 Man, I’d be more surprised if you’ve seen anything at this point.
Day 71 of asking if you can please react to "PROP HUNT IN REAL LIFE" by Couch Cast?
I've heard that Half Life gets a lot of inspiration from the original story, so the similarities make sense.
Whether you react to it or not, you HAVE to watch Spaceballs! It’s probably the best parody movie ever made!
I confused this movie for another called the Fog
You suggest watch the original 60s or 70 scooby doo TV show:)
I don't really agree with a lot of what Nostalgia Critic says in this video, as I love the movie and think the whole thing is great, especially in black and white, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if I heavily disagree. Definitely worth watching yourself
You should react to The Kill Counts by Dead Meat. They are essentially videos covering horror movies and how many kills a movie has, while also throwing jokes in there, and there is one about The Mist. Also if you're asking, no one has copywritten from reacting to them as far as I'm aware.
My friend Jim showed me this movie And I remember how aghast the ending left me. Also watch Scott the Woz.
Yes, Langoliers is good choice. Some of his best memes.
Hey, TDGM? Did you watch Jimmy Neutron as a kid? Because if you did, Nostalgia Critic reviewed Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius last week, if you wanna react to that
I did watch it as a kid
You really don’t need to say I haven’t seen that , if it’s you then we all know you most likely haven’t seen it , it’s like a guarantee
This is one of the rare ocassions someone criticizes stephen king for his heavy religious overtones in his books. Refreshing because it gets to be a drag because it seems obsessive and like the only thing that matters in the books after the stand became a hit
28:34 How do you function?
I don’t know at this point
12:22 All the games you've played so far
29:50 At this point...... It's becoming very Pavlovian
30:52 Don't threaten me with a good time
The Lannnnngooolieeeerrrrrrrssssssssss
The Tommyknockers is indeed a real Stephen Kin movie. The Nostalgia Critic did do a review. You should do that one next week. ua-cam.com/video/8xrwSf_dsPs/v-deo.html
React to his review of "The Lawnmower Man"
jesus christ duck!
you seriously need to watch more movies because damn the fact you havent watched the thing is just....absolutely ludicrous
The ending is wild? Welp - I'll be glad to see the end !
Spoiler: It ends
Demon knight please!
the mist and the thing are my favorite "horror" movies
I Remember watching this as a kid Yes a 12 year old kid with a sever arachnophobia watch this movie
Oh yikes maybe not the best idea
It’s probably too late for you to see this but I highly recommend doing Nostalgia Critic’s review of the Tommy Knockers or the Langoliers, you seemed very interested in both of them during the reaction.
Very possibly next
I think every negative point he brings up is wrong. I, and the magority, thinks it is one of the greatest.
There were a lot of movies i did not se, but had a fals interpretation and opinion on, becouse i saw Nostalgia Chritic first. I grew up hating The Matrix, becouse he made a Video being overly negative of it, and i did not see the movie untill many many years later. How many other movie experience has he taken away by people taking his words alone.
The writing was terrible.
Ask Doug about his thoughts on his favorite movie Brazil if you're going to do a cameo.
Pretty much every video I've seen from this channel is just ''haven't seen that, don't know what that is, never head of that, I don't know who that is, don't know what that is, never done that.'' Not only is it baffling that you've never seen of heard or did anything, but the commentary gets very boring as most of it consists of saying you don't know what anyone is talking about.
