Likewise Vanessa, I’ve just stumbled across your channel as well. At the ripe old age of 59 I’ve decided to turn pro, and the first thing I needed was an updated lighting solution. I’d already decided on the B10 so this was timely and just perfectly explained. Thank you, you come across so nicely and your video was a pleasure to watch.
I cant wait to get this B10 light just trying to decide if I need the plus. I am thinking I will get 1 B10 and 1 B10 plus. Going to buy the B10 first and if I find that it has enough power, then I will just get another B10 because I like the size of them. Thanks for simplifying how to operate the light now I don't have to read the manual but they made it so simple you probably don't need to anyways.
I ended up getting only b10s bc I wanted the smaller/lighter solution even if sacrificing a stop of light (which I can gain back with a magnum reflector)
I don't see the link to your branding guide.. only the posing guide and some presets.. I like your stuff though.. I purchased your off-camera flash tutorial .. thank you in advance if you have the branding guide to share still.. J
Dear Vanessa, for being a professional who sometimes uses a flash, would you consider Godox over Profoto at all? Bought the a1, a1x and the b10. Sometimes I feel some buyers remorse because it was a lot of money, but ha, its an investment, I think I did the right thing.
I honestly wouldn’t bc of the long (and short) term quality and overall investment. It pairs with my life Philosophy in general, I’ll go without something until I can save for what the better value product is vs buying something that’ll frustrate me and cost me more time, money and quality in the long run.
hi Vanessa! My light just came in and i unboxed it and no light even turns on? have you had this problem? i have charged it and pressed the flash button but still the light doesnt turn on even though the screen still works... any advice??
Great video! I picked up two of these during Profoto’s Demo Sale! I also have the B1’s, but wondering if I even need those anymore? I usually only use flash for weddings, nothing too major. Thoughts?
I sold my b1s to replace them with b1s. B10s are slightly less powerful but with a little photo knowledge and light control you’ll be ok with one stop less power.
Excellent overview of a great light! An extra star if you had put on the FroWig... 😏. Oh and loved your participation in the FroCast.. you should do more of those!! Go FULL Jersey Sarcastic!! 🤣🤣
Hi Vanessa! I just stumbled across your channel and it's AWESOME!! Well done. Your presentation style is great! I have a fuji channel and know how hard it is to make these videos. You make it look effortless. Look forward to more videos from you!
is it possible to set one profoto b10 to front curtain sync and a second b10 to rear curtain sync? Or to set one light on TTL and another on Manual for the same shot?
I haven’t tried that... but I **think** it’s possible. Www.ua-cam.com/users/lastxwitness would probably know since he messes with that a lot more than I do
@@VanessaJoy Thanks. I was think of using it to get a pop, a delay, and a pop on a double-exposure in one frame. But when I switched the curtain setting on group A it switched on group B, too.
@@VanessaJoy Thanks! Here's what Profoto said: Two strobes can’t be setup for front curtain on one and rear curtain on the other using one camera and one Air Remote. The only way we can possibly think of setting up that kind of scenario is by using 2 different Air Remotes. You would need a generic Air Remote which is plugged into your camera through the PC sync port. Set this remote to the same channel as the strobe you want to trigger for first curtain. profoto.com/us/products/air-remotes/remotes/air-remote profoto.com/us/products/accessories/cables/air-accessory-cables/3.5-mm-miniphone-male-to-pc Place the Air Remote TTL on the hot shoe and set it to the same channel as the second strobe. I believe Sony cameras have a menu that allows you to select rear curtain, so make sure you do that. When you trigger the camera, the generic Air Remote should go off first and the Air Remote TTL should go off with the second curtain. Please keep in mind that we don’t know if this will work, but it’s the only possibility we can think of. And to answer your second question, you can set one light to Manual and one to TTL for the same shot. To do so, you need to set each strobe to different groups. Groups A, B and C allow either TTL or Manual operation. But Groups D, E or F are Manual only. So, you can set your TTL strobe to A, B or C and set your Manual strobe to D, E or F. If the Air Remote is set to TTL and you have one strobe set to Group D, E or F, remember that you’ll only be able to change the flash power manually on that strobe. If the Air Remote is set to Manual and you have a strobe set to Group D, E or F, you can highlight all three groups (A, B, C) on the remote and any changes you make will also affect D, E and F.
Yeah but you’ll have to purchase those 5 godox lights 5 times over as they break, or edit five times longer as they color shift through use or spend 5x longer trying to reach customer service with issues. Everything costs something
@@VanessaJoy Hi Vanessa, I have a pair of AD200 they are great had them for around 3 years no problems, also have a pair of broncolor 800L fantastic bit of kit but sometimes you just need something small and manageable.
Then they wouldn’t be going bc the quality would go out the window along with all the R&D to make a product like this (and let everyone else copy a patent)
Hey, I’m using b10 and b10 plus but for some studio lighting setup I need continuous lights which modeling light on b10 and b10plus is not enough powerful specially for using for recording video! What’s solution if I don’t want to go for another brand to use LED lights? Thank you

Thanks for the kind words!! ☺️ glad it helped
Thanks for the info. I been watch Profoto videos for a while to get ideas. Awesome video!!
Glad it was helpful!
Just migrated ti the B10...great content...thanks for sharing.
Yay congrats! How do you like it?
@@VanessaJoy fantastic. Superb lighting. As my mentor Will Crockett once told me, “ you don’t know you need pro lighting, till you use it!
Hi Vanessa, thank you! This video is exactly what I was looking for ... how-to-straightforward-easy .... all set to work with my B10.

Great content!! Also was great to meet you last week at the ImagingUSA 17Hats booth.
Great to meet you!! Thanks for sticking around through that ☺️
Undoubtedly an excellent tool to work with!
Agreed!
This is terrific Vanessa. I have been using a pair of B 10's ever since they first came out but you demonstrated some features I wasn't even aware of!
great! Always something new to play with :-)
Perfect timing. I am about to purchase some. Great video.
Perfect!
Excellent video. You make it seem so simple
Haha thankfully these lights are fairly simple. One reason why I love them
Up nice and early I see. Mid afternoon here in London. Nice and easy watch video. Be safe..

@@VanessaJoy hmm, amen :)
Also I've bought some godox and there's quite a bit of wb issues it's not as stable as profotos. Great choice
Someday this light will be in my kit. 😎
hope so!
Is the B10 still your go-to Profoto strobe? or do you recommend another Profoto model?
B10
Still :)

Hha they are Lovely lights
You really don't lose time on UA-cam videos. Uploads constantly
One or two a week :) been planning/shooting these since mid-December. I work hard!
No doubt that you're working hard.

That sounds defective - I’d send it in for servicing or return it for another one

Just checked with Seth and he said You’d need triggers that have a delay system like pocket wizard

Hey! Just found your channel! Do you use the the B10 for family formals as well or another setup?
Thanks for stopping by :) yes I do use them for family formals. Typically with a large white, reflective umbrella and a diffuser on it
I am definitely going to pick these lights up. Thanks for the great video. :)
Glad I could help!
I like your video
Is IR slave the same as optical slave?
optical is line-of-sight. Infrared is different and will still fire if a person steps in between the line-of-sight :-)
Nice. I'm not on the Profoto level but one say I will be...
one day!! :-)
Does have app for smartphone( Samsung)?
I believe they have an android app now :)
Price is around $1,700.00 for 1 Profoto B10 you can purchase 5 Godox AD200 for that money
Yeah but you’ll have to purchase those 5 godox lights 5 times over as they break, or edit five times longer as they color shift through use or spend 5x longer trying to reach customer service with issues. Everything costs something
