It kinda is for in the intro for melee it starts off with a kid grabbing Mario’s trophy and setting him off into an imaginary battlefield where he comes to life and fights Link, Kirby and Pikachu. And also in N64 where the intro starts in some kids room with master hand grabbing into what seems to be toys of Mario and Pikachu and setting up a little stage for them and when he snaps his fingers is when the characters come to life. It’s not until Brawl going on when we realize that it’s no longer some kids imagination but an actual ongoing lore with the characters going up against some supernatural/gods trying to break free of the never ending battle for their entertainment or for their entire existence.
