the pharrell part was a lifesaver. I’ve been tryna figure out how to send my supplier my design that blends in with the shirt like that & couldn’t find anything on how to do it. Big upsss
Nice video! I understood that each manufacturer has different garment color codes but how about the graphics? Can I just use any color there is and they can print it?
Send off your designs as a Psd, Pdf and Png. they can get the colours to an almost perfect match if they screen print most time its 5-12 colours max. but if its DTG its almost perfect.
Hey Wil, if I plan to create cut & sewn t-shirts, can I give the manufacturers detailed measurements for just one size (like size M) and a basic measurements chart (like a size chart on a brand website) for the other sizes? Or do I need to provide detailed measurements for each size to ensure consistent proportions?
You can, they scale it up by 2 inches roughly, that's how sizes tend to work from M-XL, but having it more detailed and listed is the better option has less room for error. we had an issue with the XXL when we got samples in because they used there own chart and it wasn't correct so I had to go back and measure it myself.
When you put the measurements of the design what measurements should I put, should I put the measurements for a small t shirt or the measurements of a large t shirt and how would the manu know what size I’m talking about do I say it on the tech pack
Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it! I had a question about the tags. Should I be sending tag design with different sizes written on them S, M, L, XL?
should you always use CMYK over RGB on print designs? do you always need to make the designs brighter? I have design - a man's face dripping with water, the picture is complex with reflections and glows. What's the best print-on garment type is best for that kind of design. is it DTG only?
No, this just apples to these sort of designs where you have a lot of fabrics going on and easy vector shapes were you can call on the colours . Most of my photoshop designs I don’t spec out the colour , but if you’re really picky you can . In terms of glow , I just know from experience it just doesn’t print well unless it to DTG
Awesome video bro. Couple of quick questions because I am knew to this. Why did you use adobe illustrator for the tech packs but photoshop for the design? Is it because since illustrator is vector based you can shrink and enlarge the designs from the psd file to the mock up without lowering resolution? Would it have just been possible to use Illustrator for the design and tech packs?
Question 1 - photoshop allows you more freedom to design, edit, distort and manipulate and make better effects. The process for both designs are on the channel, and the effects and blending modes just aren’t effective through illustrator. The pack was made illustrator because it was all like and shapes, if you use shapes in photoshop they distort overtime because it’s pixels base, also illustrator is also easier to make flats for clothing and most manufactures follow this. Photoshop just gets to messy when building a technical . You can’t really scale text etc. so the illustrator is only used primarily for logos and technical drawings because you want to keep using those vector files and copying them over without it being distorted. Question 2 , I guess you could of made it all in illustrator, but it wouldn’t be effective or you wouldn’t be able to get the same look.
I’ve made a similar design as the pharrel one, followed your steps to get rid of the shadows. However each manufacturer is telling me I can’t screen print that type of design due to colour gradients. Any tips?
Yeah - find a better manufacture . Also check out the sample video (new one ) has to remove a lot of the colours and tones to get the print to the (vintage look )
removing colour including tones of black - so they don't print it, changing colours if you're in a rush, developing effects for select colours etc. just another selection method really
Adobe programs on iPad are trash. it's not the full app, so you'll be limited and most the effects used to get the designs are not there. but in all that being said you can, you just need to be really good at using your iPad.
If I give a tech pack company a sample of the product I want (an actual t shirt brand) would they be able to recreate it 100% without that brand logo etc?
@@DesignedByWil i was definitely pulling your strings with the whole "scamming" comment but ive tried photopea, kittl, and windows but it keeps telling me its an empty file..
The technical is built for illustrator, so you’ll definitely need it to open the ai file , pngs are included for kittl and other programs . But strange regarding the empty file just send me a support email designedbywil@gmail.com and I’ll get you sorted no stress if you can’t get you’re file
1 make sure your artboard the right size ,a3 format to begin with , find your mock up either from my pack or anyone else’s is pack , copy and paste it into new file, 3 find your design copy and paste that into this file or drag in any png formats, 4 use either shape builder or live paint bucket tool to color your mock up if your doing custom section / color, 5 ensure if you have a lot of detail you make a page for each detail exsample if you have a custom button and custom draw strings include those in a page labeled detail, 6 include a page for tags and packing , 7 make sure you have a size chart , 8 optional but include a reference garment / on body picture so manufacture can understand size, 8 save as a pdf and have your designs in a seperate print and design folder, 9 send off to manufacture for production. Within those steps you can add more or less

Smallest size . Easier to print

Got it form my manu they sent me a book of each fabric and the colour codes

yo! thanks for the video. i just had a suggestion, you should work on making your website more asthetic
It’s 4 years old , will get to it when I need it 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Is a iPad better or a laptop when doing things like this?
W video, bought the tech pack🙌one question tho, how do you change colors of pieces? Like how do you get those boxes to change the shirt colors
So what you do is hit the direct selection tool and click the clothing piece then press the eyedropper tool and click on the color you want
Bruh why when I drag a mock up in or copy and paste it has a black background and it don’t even fit the canvas
Most likely are not selecting the image correctly, is the common issue make sure you’re using the selection tool and not direct selection.
Do you have a editable version of this tech pack on your website?
I'm going to buy your mockup design but can I still edit it or is it already uneditable
Where did you learn everything from, design wise? School or self taught?
I’m studying design in uni, but most of this was learn prior to going to school . Just UA-cam and practice
Can you please make another tech pack video like this but for varsity jackets
Yoooo I was just thinking this I have so much jackets lmfao
do you remvoe the shadwos when you are printing on another other color blank but black? PLEASE ANSWER HURRY
Nope you can check how it looks just change the colour to the garment colour
hey do you have the mock ups available for download on a website? great content btw!
I have a mock up pack I just purchased if interested tech pack included

Did you vectorize the designes?
nope you really don't have too, if your psd file is large enough.
@@DesignedByWil What size do you recommend on procreat so that the size of the png, psd is enough?
what size are your artboards for each design in photoshop?
2450 x 2700 but usually 3000 by 3000 pixels.

what font is this
you good
Did you use these designs ?
Yup all these out

If you can get to them , probably but I’ve never sent physical samples overseas so I can’t give you any proper advice
I’m tryna learn how to adobe I’m struggling ngl

Look in the top right , photoshop and illustrator
How would i find color codes?
Like I said in the video ; ask your manufacture for a colour book , or you can opt for pantones and they can colour match
