One of the best lines from Stannis is in that pre-release chapter. He says something like “lord too-fat butchered my onion knight” and I really felt for him 😭
Manderly is one of my favorites! They are such a curious mix of northern loyalty and southern chivalry. Also, a very politically prone house, something you don't see as much in the North (openly, at least).
I would say that they are a model for what a properly cosmopolitan Westeros would look like. As a family and as the political entity behind White Harbour, they clearly put effort into living the truth of two distinct subcultures. The subcultures merge and are better for it, rather than having divisive attitudes like most other Houses.
42:49 the obvious problem with simply giving the mouth of the White Knife to the closest neighbouring House is that it would unbalance the local political makeup and lead to some lord getting too big for his breeches, which is the exact issue the Starks kept having when giving the fortress to other northerners. An outsider who owes their very continued existence to a King of Winter would be a better candidate, politically. 49:33 Umber Lumber, the Besteros in Westeros
Cant wait to see how the Manderlys plotting to reestablish House Stark plays out in the books! Who doesn’t like a lord that’s too fat to ride his horse lol 😂
Love this series of the houses. I think it would be even better if in each week you went to a different region. Because there's a lot of plot overlap staying in the same region
I've long felt that the reason Alysanne forced the ceding of the New Gift was as a power play for the Starks managing to wriggle out of her matchmaking alliances.
Oh! The Manderlys! I think they are such a wonderful family! So loyal to our Starks! Such chivalry! They seem like the type of family that would always be doing something together. And I bet holidays would be a total blast! Hail fellow! Well met! Everyone would be invited, wether family or friend. The more, the merrier! And the castle that they have built around The Wolfs’ Den sounds so beautiful, almost magical. If I couldn’t belong to the Starks I would absolutely love to be a Manderly!
1:07:18 The Manderlys might kill the Freys and then „disappear“, as if wiped out by Stannis. But in truth they will join forces with Stannis. They might return to Winterfell but having agreed on a plan with Stannis.
Maybe this was a show-only thing but wasn't Davos the son of a crabber? And he was kind of in the service of Wyman Manderly. Is that 'merlings being served by crabs' maybe?

Missed another live but always great on the rewatch still. Excited to hear more from you on some of the other less known houses!
House kar stark would be interesting
Thank you IDG I love House Peake more, but the Mermen make good pie🥧

Who else is hoping that the Manderlys will end up with the sisters sworn to them as well in the end?

I declare prima nocta
