Anj Anj definitely. I’m currently growing sunflowers in my backyard and I’m striving to have all kinds of flowers and vegetables and a beautiful garden and set up a hammock by the tree. I put beach sand under. By next year I’ll be out in beautiful spring seasons summer and fall season. Enjoying it all while listening to Skyrim soundtrack all day. 😌

Nice video mate.But it took a long time for your sunflowers to reach maturity.If you had planted them in early June by the middle of August you would have had the same results,also 3 months less work.If you had planted in a soft bed of soil they would have been able stretch there roots out more giving a much thicker stem and the chance of multiple sunflower heads per plant.👍
Paul Kent thank you for the advice. I started mine in doors a month ago and I’m transplanting them today. This is my first time and I will now make sure the soil is loose.
One problem is pests, or in my backyard, slugs and roly-polies, I think. Also, I plant a seed in the ground, and I have to keep it moist, and in this California sun, that means more than one trip into the garden to water seeds. Even when covered with a plastic bottle half, they dry out, and ultimately that gets old. I will experiment with starting the seeds in fiber pots, as in this video, and transplant when they are bigger and less palatable to the slugs and other pests, and won't die due to dehydration in the hot sun.

Also grew cherry tomatoes & watermelon on accident the same way. Plants didnt seem to like the garden I worked so hard to plow up but they loved the dirt around the pool 🤷🏻♀️

To shorten grow time, soak the seeds, soak the paper pot before planting in the ground or remove them, and fill the hole with water before planting. The bird song is so peaceful and this a lovely video!

I’m planting my very first batch of sunflowers and germinated them in 2 ways. 1. soaking in water overnight then placing them on tissue; 2. planting them directly into soil. The soak/tissue method germinated in day 2-3 (including the overnight soak). The direct soil germinated in day 3-5. I stumbled upon your video to find benchmark on what to expect as it grows. In your video, they germinated on day 35 and had true sets of leaves on day 56. I guess they grow faster here due to the climate because the growth gap is so large between where you live and where I live. It looks mine will have true sets of leaves in 10 days. I’m so excited to see them grow! Thank you for your video! You are awesome!

Beige with Burgundy with many shoots, slight to deep orange sunburst colors single and multiblooms, deep purple with single multiblooms. They are gorgeous!!! Teddy 🐻 blooms look like puff balls!! Range from three foot to almost fourteen in height!! The winds dropped one of larger ones yesterday. Birds already pecking the seeds from the flower heads. Hummers catching the bugs around them! Wonderful to watch and take pictures! I will have larger plot next year for many more!!!!

smart451cab snails shouldn’t be killed. They don’t destroy your plants. Sure they may eat from the leaves but the plant can tolerate that and it still be around. I think people think of them as pest when they are not. I think snails are really cute and I try to move them out of the way if they are on the floor so that I don’t crush them. When I was a kid I used to love poking their eyes to make them go inside but now I respect and love those creatures. I just love seeing all kinds of bugs around the garden especially ladybugs. Except flys I hate those but glad spiders set up their tent there to catch them 😀😅
Wonderful watching this video. I grew sunflowers from seeds last year. I was SO proud of them. I planted them in my garden and the next day i went to water them to find that chipmunks dug up every plant and ate the roots! I was so upset! Do u have any suggestions on what to do about chipmunks?
