Are there any other reasons not mentioned in the article that you think should be considered when thinking about moving to Saskatchewan?
Comment down below! 👇👇👇
Lived in SK first 12 years, a great place to be. We wouldn’t move. Saskatoon is a great city, big enough that it has everything you need, small enough that you can drive across it in 20 mins.
I think this guy was generally fair.
The best thing about SK, the people. The worst, the people behind the wheel.
Haha yessss!! True story
I've lived in Sask most of my life. I was born here. You didn't mention that Saskatchewan has 97,000 lakes with fish in them. Or that the hunting can be spectacular. At one time Saskatchewan could boast it had 47 % of the Boone & Crocket whitetail deer records in all of North America.
Yeah I did mention in another video (top 10 things to do in saskatchewan) that Saskatchewan has world class fishing
This video was really put together slightly satirical cuz one viewer asked me to tell them what’s bad or why someone may not want to move to saskatchewan
I don't think 15 years quite qualifies anyone to be an expert - very negative - no understanding of the lifestyle - or just what great people live in Saskatchewan! Guy needs to go back to B.C.!
@@LuckyLucy451can’t afford it lol BC is too expensive 😉 kidding but seriously.
@@LuckyLucy451he mentions small town mindsets and here you are!
How about if you open your world view and save the drivel?
@@rjforbes4804 I've travelled 2/3's of the world and lived in many parts - also of Canada - nothing 'small' about my mindset! People that make personal attacks on others lack intellectual ability to communicate! Maybe you can still get back into school?
Move to Saskatchewan if you don't want the hassle of changing all your clocks twice a year! 😀
Haha best comment! Love your attitude
our time is the true time
@@Kneeguards yes!!

a hoody is not a pullover it has a zipper and side pockets
A bunny hug is a genuine gesture from a small furry creature with big ears

Very interesting!
Thanks for watching! What did you like best?
The weather, if it werent for the weather this place would be heaven. The people are great, the location economy food are awesome, too bad of that - 40 degrees long winters. But at least there's summer.
True story, 100% agree. Anyway too Saskatoon is home am I right
It is not as cold as you say. Please look up historic weather.
Gotta include the windchill of course
@@LivinginsaskatoonguideCan you please provide a reference or link to the historical record for your 6 weeks of -40 C temperatures? I don’t remember it but perhaps my brain is still frozen.
@@ashrobinson4604 including windchill and rounding up but I believe it was my first winter in the new house we bought this place in 2021 I believe so winter of 2021/2022 was brutally cold
Saskatchewan is known for being flat and they say it is so flat and barren as the joke goes that if your dog runs away you can still see it even after the third day. Then,if you get in your vehicle and go after it you will probably fall a sleep at the wheel as there are not a lot of curves in the road or highway!
Eye mate tis the tale
Alberta and Manitoba have the same weather patterns. You know, if you dont like it there, you can sure go back to B.C.
Yah I jokingly say it’s too expensive. But truth be told I do miss the mountains and BC is beautiful but Saskatoon is home, it grows on you here
I'm going in September with a working holiday. Do you think is it a good choice? My work experience it's been with customers in health public service and hospitality, in Spanish of course because I'm from south America. I've been working on my english 🤓.
Saskatoon is a beautiful and affordable place to work and live, especially if you can appreciate the prairies. September for 6 months doesn’t showcase the best side of saskatchewan cuz you’d miss summer but there are still great things to offer here
I think you have to talk about current renting cost. Heard there is a storm today. Stay warm
Yeah rent prices have gone up. Hey thanks! We just had a big wind and snowstorm lol
I'm thinking of moving out the Yorkton area, a city with 15,000 is great. I have 2 hr drive to Kelowna and Penticton. 8 hrs to Vancouver and 10 to the Island. Where I live is called Greenwood and about 600 people and zero jobs, so I will come out that way to see your area. Small town and easy pace is welcomed to me. BC is hard to live, rent, home purchase, oh and yes you have jobs out there. Thank you for your channel look forward to get more info from you...all the best.
Hey true story I grew up in cranbrook fernie area small town jaffray BC about 1000 people expensive living and no jobs. Send me an e-mail if you want for moving to yorkton 12molenaar@gmail.com we have partners that work out there too
Good luck with that! Not all roses sunshine
No, more like minus 40 and sunshine 😉 hahaha
Don’t know where you got your numbers from but it’s a full day drive Saskatoon to Vancouver. Over 20 hours
@@ivanremillard499I grew up in jaffray BC, it’s 10 hours give or take from saskatoon to jaffray. I don’t remember if I mentioned that in this video though
No mention of Saskatoon also being known as Toon Town, how there are musical festivals there all the time and more importantly not a breath about the just over a dozen native gangs that are some of the most violent criminals in all of Canada.
I can do another video about crime rates etc and how that fits into the picture, another viewer had mentioned concern about that. The music scene is relevant definitely and have mentioned that for saskatoon in other videos
North Battleford is notorious for crime.
@@FischerFannotorious B I Battleford haha
V nice video but weather can be too cold any where in Canada in bc it rains a lot and too expensive only Windsor and Toronto has good warm weather not much snow but it's not affordable any more 400 dollars for car insurance and 2000 for one bedroom apartment
Yah exactly so saskatchewan is a viable option for people
I live in Regina, most of the times it's windy! cars are very expensive and if you drive after 9 pm, you can barely recognize the lanes, but it's an interesting city, you can reach from A to B shortly if you have a car and don't wait for a bus
True story easy commute anywhere in town. How long have you been in regina?
Almost 2 years
@@abdullahabed5173 awesome where did you move from?
Ontario
@@abdullahabed5173 oh nice! Big change for home prices moving to saskatchewan from ontario
6:56 lol rabbits 🐰. this is really an educational video for someone like me who wanna move to Saskatoon
Haha! Awesome thanks for saying that. When do you expect you’d be able to make it to town? Happy to help
After almost 30 years in Saskatchewan I've yet to see steady weeks of minus 40c in the winter - -40c is actually rare but can happen factoring in the wind chill effect. However, it is true that wimps don't last too long here - but - hey - who needs them?
Are you in Saskatoon area? Because if so then you are full of bologna. Maybe I am a bit soft considering I grew up in BC no doubt jn terms of minus 40 weather but I’ve been here close to 15 years and have a pretty good tally of the minus 40 days haha. Couple few years ago it was almost 6 weeks straight minus 40. This year was pretty mild I think we only had a week or two total
Southern saskatchewan if that’s where you reside may perhaps be slightly warmer climate but not by that much I wouldn’t think as north dakota is similar climate
@@Livinginsaskatoonguide Don't be a Trudeau and insult someone because they disagree with you 'you are full of bologna'! Be more specific than 'couple few years ago' and check the records re: the claim of 6 weeks straight of minus 40! I've been here twice as long as you so just maybe I might know something you don't and still wouldn't consider myself to be 'an expert' on Saskatchewan - unlike a 15 year veteran! Maybe you should have left the airy fairy B.C. attitude back there - where i also lived so want to compare notes on that province?
Well we do agree on Trudeau by sounds of it I’ll give you that. Weather is a matter of public record though not opinion. Full of bologne is just calling out facts. Hey I appreciate you stopping in to chat and contribute to the conversation. You are correct these are perspectives of mine shared on this channel. Where in BC did you live?
@@LivinginsaskatoonguideI have family in Saskatoon and I hear about extreme cold every winter, I'm in Ontario.
Oh yes, well the extreme temps are certainly present. This winter was pretty mind considering. Huge snowstorm last minute but seems most of canada got that. Ontario I have heard is much warmer in general as compared to the prairies
Interesting take.. quite subjective views w threads of truth & exaggerations. Saskatoon is growing along w gorgeous summers, amenities, activities & a relaxed lifestyle.
True story. One of my viewers asked me for why someone may not move here so tried to throw bit of satire in there. Saskatoon definitely grows on you too if you’re not originally from here
@@Livinginsaskatoonguideidk why so many people say Saskatchewan has a bad future. I’ve been to every Canadian p😅and territory and Saskatchewan is by far the best. The crime rates are low, I’ve lived in Saskatoon for 17 years and only 2 people I know had an encounter with a gang, (and this was together) plus it’s really affordable, the people have a great sense of humor and it’s lively and everyone is nice. The temperature doesn’t matter because you can buy clothes for very low prices. It’s so underrated.
@@Ariale618 yes I agree and thank you for this comment!
Appreciate
Hey you bet! What did you like best?
I really appreciate viewing your videos. This video and others do help to educate me about Saskatchewan and further inspire me to move there permanently.
Excellent well thanks for saying that. Saskatchewan has turned out to be a great place to call home for me too as I was originally in british columbia. Happy to help however I can
I don't know why I'm still falling in love with the city😂😊
Haha yes! It grows on you. Saskatoon is home
I'm in my 60's and lived here all my life. This guy is exaggerating a bit with the weather. Sure it gets cold and the windchill makes it colder but it's not like that for the entire winter and we do have winters that aren't as cold. I'll take a cold sunny day any day over the dreary drizzle of B.C. in the winter....now that's depressing. Anyway I don't feel he's being fair as he hasn't lived here his whole life or over 60 years like myself. Lots of people move here from other parts of Canada and really like Saskatchewan. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change (Dr. Wayne Dyer quote)
Love this comment. I do totally agree this video was a slight exaggeration for comedic effect. Love Wayne Dyer! Big fan
Well there's 9 letters in the name, so all I need is 1 more. How about -27 in late Oct to Feb
9 letters in the name, I don’t understand. Is this some sort of riddle?
I lived close to Alphabet drive. Then near the poor boy gas station. Then I found a beautiful Victorian 3 story where I rented the top floor right beside the University campus. Went to some beer pong events there made friends. Great ppl.
I was employed at the Corey Potash mine and traveled from Vancouver to do so. After 8 months I had to leave. Got home sick and had a baby coming.
I loved the people there and the Saskatoon berry pies. Yum. My Family lineage is 13 generations now in Canada and most of that was from Saskatchewan & New York.
Cheers brother.
@@LivinginsaskatoonguideMy joke was the word Saskatoon itself has 9 letters. So then I just needed one more reason besides...its Saskatoon to not move there. Teasing is all.
I want to buy affordable remote property anywhere in Canada. I’m retired so don’t need to be close to a city except for a hospital.
Small town saskatchewan could work. Send me an e-mail happy to help. 12molenaar@gmail.com
Grew up on a Sk farm. Liked Kansas in the winter. Grandma sister from Ukrainian was there. Got sick respotory troubles if - 20 C. So rained too much on coast. Ended up in southern Ab. But X wife etc in Sk. Never did get house in Calgary. Can barley afford to retire here in Ab. Have a house in Philipines was for inlaws. Mother is in NY now. Maybe start doing more orphan type work with house in Philipines. Filipino wife like my X in Sk controls fiancial situation again. Yeh life ups and down. Was sick in hodpitals lots in Sk winters. But dont quite know how i csn afford to fly south Costa Rica etc. Have Ag biz with growing mushroom. ( not magic - go to Jamicia ) Under 40 or Metis thry quslify. Yeh grandkids will soon qualify. Maybe X brother - inlaw. Etc is on Sk farm yet. . But yeh life is short. Solar ecipse etc. Have travelled some over seas etc. NO Int airports in Sk LoL. Like MT - Great Falls. Warmer there too. Yeh still alive ( few had me buried but learnt about the wild mushrooms in BC bush country) life goes on for a short time more. Maybe C U's in Sk. Summer is almost here .
Thanks for watching, and for sharing
I am coming to Saskatchewan .......................
Excellent! Feel free to reach out, send me an e-mail, happy to help however I can
you say people forget how to drive in winter, LOL, more like they never knew how to to begin with
Hahaha great comment! My only big thing is in general people cut you off or don’t let you in when you change lanes. And first cold winter day everyone hits the ditch no matter what lol
It took only 9 minutes to explain how isolated Sask. cities are
Hey it is a great place to work, and an affordable place to live. And a great place to travel from (half kidding). Saskatchewan grows on you
@@Livinginsaskatoonguide You need to produce another video to counter all that you have said (laughing)
@@kingnnaemeka2231lol I am just honest with people, it is most certainly the middle of nowhere and very cold flat and barren. But there is novelty in it all and it still is probably the easiest big city place in canada to immigrate to. Easiest to find a job. And still most affordable decent sized city in the country. And because there is work and it’s affordable people can still afford to travel to mexico and stuff like that
In a small town, one has no privacy!!!
@@matthewhartt5887 what is your definition of small town?
What is the point of this?
This video you mean? I created a bunch of videos promoting saskatchewan and moving to saskatchewan. One of my viewers asked me to do a video on the objective side for why people might not want to move here so I took a satirical angle at it lol
Now I strongly decide do not move to Saskatchewan it's the worst that I only ever seen in my life really - it's looks like a province in Russia's region Sibyr or Long East it has border with China and so those regions in Russia looks the same as shown in the video: the same problems with doctors, school system, public transportation, driving at winter, extreme weather, high criminal level, no normal job, only oil and gas mining industry - almost like in Russia and yes btw a lot of drunk people - because there is no what to do at cold winter only drink beer, vodka and go to sauna after sauna go to cold water....
Haha well somepeople do drink beer and vodka and do the sauna but not all. Do you currently live in saskatchewan?
If you’re a senior, there’s no better place than small town Saskatchewan
Hey I like the way you think. Specifically why do you say? Affordability or culture or peace and quiet or other
2 provinces that do not have a bright future: Manitoba and Saskatchewan...these are provinces "on the decline". If you are going to move to a place in teh west...Alberta or B.C. These provinces have a future.
Well suppose no one can predict the future, and depends what you mean by decline or doesn’t have a future. BC is expensive for sure and alberta does have some opportunity
Saskatchewan and Saskatoon in particular is a growing population so personal opinions aside it is growing. Can you explain further what you mean by decline?
@@Livinginsaskatoonguide Study the growth rates and rise in value of real estate for various provinces...Sask and Manitoba are flatlining...Alberta and B.C.are on teh rise...Sask and Manitoba have a HUGE increase in Indigenous population and on track for major growth...unfortunately, poverty, drugs, lack of education follow..The people in Sask and Manitoba who have money will leave...many people will also die...Huge numbers of boomers in the "Final Act"...Nobody can predict the future...but you can read and analyze the data and draw conclusions...it is what I do for a living.
@@lt.columbo5919 oh hey that’s fair, so you are a data analyst? I am in real estate. I do not disagree on real estate values and yes this is true. However prices are recently on the climb here in SK too. Also notable- one of the most attractive features here is the affordability. As for indigenous populations not sure that is necessarily a bad thing and also not fair to generalize crime to one race religion or creed……………. As for deaths not sure what you mean there. Demographics are synonymous amongst locations not sure how that is relevant
It is all true!!!! I love Saskatchewan!!!
Haha yes!!
Don’t like Saskatchewan??
Feel free to leave. My family has been here 115 years, growing food to feed the rest of this country not to mention the oil and gas we supply to the rest of the country, if there’s someplace better to live in Canada feel free to move on instead of posting a video about why you don’t want to be here. We’ll be fine without you.
I Love saskatchewan, did you watch any of my other videos? This was a parody based on a viewers request to play other side of the coin
You do know this video makes you look rather shallow for a better world. Do yiur research before you open your mouth. There are mosqitoes in Alberta and Maniitoba. Please dont make another video until you get all your facts straight.
That’s one way to look at it. You are right mosquitos don’t understand borders, great observation. The video was intentioned for light sense of humour as per viewers request on flip side, if you watch my other videos I spend 99.9% of my time promoting the province of saskatchewan. Appreciate you being here!
This guy sounds like he has looked out his door in 20 years. May your real estate business go broke
Ouch. Well I haven’t been here 20 years so not sure what that means
Which specific part do you believe to be most incorrect?
What a whiner!!
Hahahaha
Saskatchewan is a boring place n no good jobs
@@shakeelkhan3119 what would be considered a “good job”? As for boring it is flat and I do understand the sentiment but it does grow on you, and you learn to make the best of it
