Excellent! As a lifelong resident of Saskatchewan, I think you did a fine, but brief, overview. Thank you!
Hello sir. I want to visit the city
Great overview. I live in Regina, and I found it informative and positive. A couple of things to add: 1) if you go further north toward Prince Albert, you’ll find numerous lakes and resort towns nearby. Plus, the northern lights are easily seen from there; 2) as expected, hockey is a popular winter activity here.
The popular tv show, ‘Corner Gas’ was filmed here in Rouleau, SK. It was a comedy about living in small-town Sask, so it’s a fun way to find out more about us.
@@jennthequeengreat show! Loved it..good old saskatchewan humor
@@Sally-ih6ls also little mosque on the prairies tv program
@@LHLK-q2v never watched that one…I did hear it was great
You missed the forests, lakes, and resorts in the northern forested part of the province. Highly recommend making another trip and heading anywhere north of Prince Albert.
We need to go back!
She's a city girl dude. Knows nothing outside of the city lifestyle.
Absolutely, the lakes and scenery up north is amazing
Yes, so true, but don’t stop in Prince Albert whatever you do!
Who's brining in the wheat?
Thanks for the thoughtful accurate description of our southern two largest Saskatchewan cities and their surrounding areas! If you are an outdoors person I think you would be blown away by the other half of the province north of Regina and Saskatoon into the northern boreal forest and many northern lakes. The geography is very different up north compared to the expansive beautiful open southern prairies that we often are noted for. Many of our American friends often head to northern Sask for fishing and hunting. I go north for the unending options for backcountry canoeing, camping and fishing. For my canoe trip in July I drove 8 hrs north to a secluded area! Thanks again for your post!
Should also mention the athabasca sand dunes, very interesting place to see.
I like to see the prairie provinces getting promoted. I think you get more of a feel for what Canada is like. Go Roughriders!
A fair and accurate presentation about Saskatoon and Regina as well as the areas around them. As others have said, there is more to the province in this but it is a great start to learning about Saskatchewan.
This is a well done video of southern Saskatchewan. If you return to the northern part of the province you will see something totally different , the boreal forest, beautiful lakes and rivers. Saskatchewan really is a two for one destination!
Awesome reaction! You did an excellent job of capturing what SK is all about. SK is not the most glamorous, but I think pretty special in its own right.
Thank you.
Well said!
It's only really flat on the #1 highway corridor. Once you get away it turns to rolling hills. And the wheat on everything Saskatchewan is called a "Stook" and it's how grain was dried back in the day, like a hundred years ago...but.
wow it is far more interesting than many other places.
I'm so glad you came to Canada, welcome. What a wonderful review.
We plug in the block heater on vehicles, it’s to keep the oil warm when it drops below -15 to -20, otherwise they’re very rough starting, or just won’t start. 🙈Lol!
If your vehicle doesn't start at -15 to -20 below, sell the damn thing.
@@billfarley9167 plugging a block heater in has to do with making a car start "easier"...which also causes less damage to the engine...which is a smart thing to do...in many cases, an unplugged car won't start because the strength of the battery weakens in cold temps and a cold engine is harder to start. So the block heater is of great value...increases the chances of starting greatly.
@@billfarley9167 exactly, something is wrong
@@SesameStreetRacingChannel ours do even at -30
Thanks for the glowing review! My cousins in California still miss good ol’ Sask!
Those are not seagulls. They are just gulls, as in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. They are likely called Ernest.
Thank you. I find this place interesting because it’s different and off the beaten path of the major tourist destinations and cities of the world.
that is why movie producers like it as well
Awesome. I've been there - loved it!
Saskatoon berries are like the best blueberry you've ever had. Thanks for sharing!
Literally the best! 🫐 I ordered everything Saskatoon berry flavored when I visited
Congratulations on seeing SOME of Saskatchewan. As a person who has lived here all my life, I commend you on what you had to say of my province. However, I have to say it's a shame how much you missed. Don't feel bad though, cause people who live here have missed much as well. 90 minutes north of Saskatoon, you would have reached the Canadian Shield where we our National Park resides. Over half our province is covered in lakes and forests. 2 hours south of Regina is the Big Muddy Badlands. 2.5 hours southwest of Saskatoon, we have our own Sandhills near Leader, Sk. So yes, you saw some of what my province had to offer, however there was much more. Perhaps you'll come back and have a chance to see more
If you have been to the entire province, you should definitely make a Sask video of your own!
@RunTheAtlas LOL. I wouldn't want to show you up. Besides, if I went to California, I would be totally lost and wouldn't know where to go myself. I'm just saying if you come back, you would be pleasantly surprised to see what Saskatchewan has to offer. Everyone assumes it's all farmland, but in fact it's not.
you are leaving out all the negatives of the province...and there are a lot.
I've seen a lot of country, and you're right of course. But that could be said of anywhere. Province or state
@@SesameStreetRacingChannel
Awww. Poor you.
There are down hill ski resorts over 100,000 lakes and over 2/3's of the province is covered in forest. they don't warm up their cars most are indoors or plugged in, just command start and go , guess you never left the south the roads are not all flat go north. sad when presents only present 1/2 the province. it is not the last province to join Canada, Winter is nothing go from your heated house, to your heated vehicle, drive to your heated rec center, office or shopping and go into the heated building and return, lots of indoor swimming, skating etc as well as lots of outdoor activities. missed so much.
In winter, you can go alpine skiing at Mission Ridge near Fort Qu'Appelle
yes a few down hill skiing places in Saskatchewan
I never really thought about anywhere in Canada being so similar to the Midwest until I realized it’s right above the Midwest really haha. It looks so much like Illinois and I never noticed that my dumbass always thought all of Canada was just forests and mountains.
Well done, Thank you!
Super informative video. I had no idea that Canada grew lentils. 5:53 Land of the living skies. What a beautiful moniker!
and canola and durum wheat and oats and barley and peas etc etc etc
We grow peas and Canola (Rape Seed Oil) and technically more acres in production for agriculture in SK than all of Canada other Provinces (combined) or so they say all the time!!!!! We are the bread basket of North America.
Car plug-ins are mainly for block-heaters. Or they may now warm up the inside of the car now, I haven't lived there much since March 03, 1984.
SK a Prov early 1900’s but 1867 Canada became a Nation. You need to point out SK was once the the North West Territory Capital, Louis Riel Rebellion, Fort Walsh is sorta worth mentioning…..we travel 5-10 hours to the next town or Prov. Avg farm is over 7 section of land (7 miles by 7 miles) ….no mention of the top half of SK with lakes, sand dunes, natural resources, rivers, wildlife, Dene people, caribou and dog sleds, I was born an Albertan but became a SK resident as a teen. The Province has worlds largest Uranium and potash supplies, rare earth metals, and THE BIGGEST Walleye!
OK.... 7 sections is 7 square miles... not 7 miles X 7 miles which would be 49 sections
not just seagulls, i went fishing and saw pelicans I couldn't believe what i was looking at right away. but there are so many lakes and fish.
also the natural history museum is something along the lines of Calgary's zoo or Vancouver's aquarium , a must do as those others are as well.
yes and humming girds and yellow finches and wood peckers and storks and red wing black birds and coyotes, wolves, deer, moose, elk, bear and so much more
Love the positivity
If you didn't hit Saskatchewans mid central lakes you missed the best part of Saskatchewan. The lakes are clean and warm with few mosquitos compared to forests in alberta Ontario and Manitoba and the best part.....the beaches are natural soft sand. Not that dusty harsh man-made stuff they use in most of BC.
Nothing to see in the cities. SK is about lakes, forest, hunting and fishing. Got to go North if you want to see SK.
The only good lakes are north and lakes south of saskatoon are pretty nasty
True, but world class upland bird hunting is in the south too!
From Saskatoon and yes it’s about the north
Land of amazing Craft Beer. Good for foodies too!
Most of the scenery is north of the Saskatchewan rivers. There are a million lakes up there to attract seagulls, known as "Rats of the Air" by farmers. It's also a paradise for watching other birds.
Extremely informative and interesting video. So funny about watching your dog run away for miles! Want to try lentil and the berry beer! That living sky is amazing and those humongous veggies! Didn't know anything about that area so enjoyed your video immensely. 😁
Wow, I would have thought that you were from Saskatchewan by the way that you described it. I've had the pleasure of visiting from San Francisco to Mount Shasta. What a beautiful State California is.
Basically the great plains / prairies of canada ... which may as well be the mid west .... farm land
The land of living skies ❤ We have lots for everyone to come see and experience,in all seasons. ❤❤❤
i grew up on a farm north of Moose Jaw. I remember going outside after dark on moonless nights to lay on my back and stare at the Milky Way. There was no 'light pollution' at that time and place, and of course no hills or trees to get in the way LOL. If you ever have a chance to see the Milky Way under such circumstances.... grab it. You'll never forget it.
The plug hanging from the front of the car is for a block heater, it keeps the oil and the engine block from freezing overnight. It normally doesnt heat the cars interior but you can get small heaters that you bolt into the vechicle and it will keep the windows from fogging up overnight, but uses alot of electricity. Its better to just use your remote atart and leave the defrost on full blast when you park for the night. Start the car from inside your home, give it 10 minutes and you dont have much to scrape off the windshield and windows.
Thanks for explaining 🙌 we’ve never had to use one
Hi - I'm from Ontario and worked at Lanigan Potash. It was so cold they supplied plugs in the parking lot for during the day.
@@anthony12462 that is nothing exceptional that is normal for much of the country
When I first came to Saskatchewan from Toronto. In 1978 there were no seagulls there were no squirls or hares. Now they are everywhere. We even have coyotes. My favorite beer from Saskatchewan is the Nokomis honey brown. Merci mon ami.
they were always here, coyotes, wolves, cougars bear have always been here. What about the vodka - international awards, wine, etc.
Great job from a native Saskatchewanian
Thank you very much! That means a lot coming from a local ❤️🇨🇦
i am quite surprised the Ukrainian language isnt much higher on the list since the majority of sk was settled by them. we also have rare minerals not found in other provinces or the world and second highest number of fresh water lakes in canada. although we have the lowest population sk boasts some of the highest untapped natural resources in the country as well as very unique/ rare technologies such as the syncotron at u of s.
A good overview... you missed talking the top 60% of the province ... a beautiful wilderness of forest, rocks and 100,000 lakes
It is a vast province! 🇨🇦 we need to go back
Hope you do! You covered alot for 'first timer's lol ... thanks for noticing the 'subtle beauty' of the prairies !... and make sure you come for a ride on my combine next year ! @@RunTheAtlas
Thanks, very interesting, riding through on my motorbike in September.
If you’re anywhere near Regina on your ride you should check out the Fort Qu’Apelle valley loop. It’s about 45mins from Regina and is one of the best riding spots in southern Saskatchewan. It’s a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
@@AgentBanana007 Thanks for the tip, I will ride through on my way to Saskatoon, cheers.
My first 34 years were spent in SK. The last 13 I travelled mostly via motorcycle. I remember on a full moon night driving West on Trans Canada with no traffic I would turn my headlight off and drive for a few miles by moonlight only. The cool dry air made the moonlight easily bright enough to drive on the dead straight highway!
The seagulls thing freaked me out after I'd moved from the West Coast to Calgary (I'm now back home). The thing I noticed about it though, is that Prairie gulls(and I've spent a lot of time in Sask too) sound different from ocean gulls. The biggest thing that threw me though was that the smells when I hear them are so different. Instead of rotting seafood smells the land gulls accompany different decay smells, mostly garbage.
The best things I ever did in Sask were Mosaic, ice fishing, and skidoing. "The people are so friendly," is something you'll hear a lot about Saskies but, no matter how many times you hear it, they're even more welcoming than that! Long may they reign, on the Saskatchewan plains!
Oh - and Alberta is flatter than Sask. That blew my mind.
You know how you can tell you've driven over the border between AB and SK? The roads change from terrible to smoooooooooooth, except for the "chck' sound every 3 feet or so between the concrete slabs.
Oh my GOD. I miss the Prairies. 😮💀
I'm sorry to report I hate saskatoon berries though. They're too grainy/meaty/weird-feeling - those seeds make them unenjoyable. Flavour, sure, but I detest biting into the berries themselves.
Oh,poor you.
Ah Alberta has the Rocky mountains. Alberta also has more rest stops along their highways, you are not suppose to eat Saskatoon berries uncooked or with the seeds in them.
@@LHLK-q2v
You certainly can eat uncooked Saskatoon berries!! They have a stronger taste than blueberries!
One myth is that it is dangerous in Saskatchewan. If you look at the stats you might think the violent crime is really high in Saskatchewan, it’s not, the reality is it’s only dangerous for a small percentage of the population that keeps attacking *each other*. It’s extremely easy to never get into that kind situation.
really try Waikiki California, England and so many more.
Yeah, Saskatchewan is not dangerous at all. I grew up there. We would drive long distances on the highway at night for hours with no issue. People are so kind and nice!
Not seagulls, I think. Just gulls.
“Where the skies are bigger than anywhere else
And there’s room enough for me”.
❤ Sk.
They're called Franklin Gulls, and you will find them inland everywhere in Canada and the U.S. As long as there are lakes nearby, you should see them.
As for the back country roads, I was warned not to go on them till late summer when the MUD dries out,or you will get stuck, and need a couple of tow trucks to get you out!😮
As these roads are not gravel, just mud!
One to pull you out of the feild, and the other to pull him out! Big $$s
You obviously haven’t been north of Saskatoon. Nothing flat north of PrinceAlbert. Over 100,000 lakes. Precambrian shield
why would she go north. hardly no lives there. When people think of Saskatchewan they think of southern Sask where the cities and farms can be found.
@@cityboyis2 lolololol. Because she hasn’t been there ,doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Kinda arrogant.
We didn’t have time to cover that part but will hopefully be back to see some of the national parks in the north
@@cityboyis2 You know nothing city boy. Go live the soft life in the cities. It suits you.
@@cityboyis2 wow guess you should visit huge lake resorts, Waskisiu for one. sad how little informed you are

You covered half of the province. You didn't even mention the boreal forests, lakes and rivers north Of Prince Albert. I for one am Grateful for your omission because I would prefer it to be kept a secret.
We plug vehicles in during very cold days so that your battery doesn’t freeze up otherwise she just won’t turn over and start. That’s where you will need a boost. As far as languages, Cree is not the only language spoken. People speak all kinds of other languages like polish, Ukrainian, German, Hungarian, Italian, the list goes on. I’m glad you got to experience this great province and it’s people. We are a friendly bunch lol
Actually the plug in warms the engine coolant. You can get battery warmers but most of the plugging in is to warm the engine block via the coolant.
we don't have trouble starting in -30 because our vehicles are maintained
My brother always used to say about the seagulls "They're probably rejects from the factory!"
Haha!!
It's so flat if you lose your dog you can watch him run away for 3 days straight. That's so funny I laughed out loud.
That joke is quite stale in Saskatchewan.
and it isn't true 2/3 rds of the province is forest
What is a Buffalo mound…that’s a reference that means …..well nothing.
It’s an elevated hill where the buffalos would fall to their ☠️
@@RunTheAtlasYou mean a buffalo jump say like in Cypress Hills Maple Ridge area? A lot of flat areas where plan B involved no Buffalo jumps.
I grew up about a mile South of Buffalo Pound Lake. Our family owned some land on the lake which became Parkview. The remainder was sold and became part of Buffalo Pound Provincial Park. The lake got its name because the indigenous peoples would drive a buffalo herd over the edge of a steep hill as an easy way to kill them in large numbers. On our farm we found several stone tools from hammer heads to perfect flint arrowheads.

Sadly Purple nose alcoholism runs rampant 🍻🥴!!
Sadly..booze is promoted far too much, lots of sad depressing divorces busting up generations of farmland and families...and alcohol to cope with the pain.
@@SuperReznative I totally agree 👍. Casinos as well as alcohol causes some generational farmers to lose their land that they inherited. It’s heartbreaking to see this happening . Casinos never should have been allowed.
