  • Corsair and Logitech both have peripherals that both charge without any wires, allowing for the ultimate in cord cutting technology. However, Corsair uses an industry standard with Qi while Logitech has developed a proprietary alternative called PowerPlay. We will test out the Logitech G703 and G903 and the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE and see which wireless charging system comes out on top.

For those just now tuning in or coming back for an update, here's the two cents of a Logitech PowerPlay/G703 user who's had it for over a year.
NEVER seen my battery go below 75% and I game 3-5 hours a day. Never had to stop playing to charge my wireless mouse.
The driver software has NEVER given me problems. Plus it works for most every other Logitech peripherals you get like headset and keyboard.
The mouse and mouse pad still feel brand new.
The mouse is absolutely fantastic in performance.
I'm with Canucks on the cloth>hard surface. It is better in every way and still easy to clean, just use a lent roller.
It is WELL WORTH the extra 30-50$
I have not used Corsair's version, but it is objectively worse than Logitech's, as shown in this Canucks review. Why buy it when you have to stop using the mouse and put in the charge corner or plug it in? That defeats the purpose of this kind of charge pad tech. Spend the extra 30-50$. Sorry Corsair. I love you. You still get to be my fans and radiator in my PC, but no brownie points for this attempt on competing against Logitech.

It's not only that. The fact that Logitech was smart enough to integrate a receiver into the power play is also key. Kinda stupid that Corsair didn't do that, forcing you to have to plug the mouse's dongle into the mousepad. My guess is.. either they were stupid, or Logitech patented that aspect.

@@fuzzybat23 It's pretty silly to be forced to use one mat for 100 bucks if you can use your favorite mat for 30% of that price, charge your phone, and when you finished playing you can put a mouse on charger so actually you have always full battery. Beside because of slipstream technology you can use 3 corsair devices with one dongle which is i think more comfortable so in my opinion you are totally wrong.

I have a better solution and I may consider that instead of all these ones a regular high end high powered QI charger can go through quite a bit of material so you can mount one under your desk (if it is too thick then shave off a bit inside the underneath) and you can use an RGB mousemat with a thinner visible cable
I am planning on doing the same with a wireless keyboard (will wait for an RGB one with a 10 key numpad though) by getting a short right angle micro USB cable (micro USB side of cable is right angle with the flat side of connector being the bent part) and connect it up to the QI charging puck from MM1000 and have the feet of keyboard raised with the puck under the keyboard

By doing that and completing the challenge, you'll have at least $ 1,378.00 after the 52 weeks (1 year) to help you with Christmas shopping, a vacation trip or even to establish an emergency fund. You may use it as you wish.

watching this, Corsair's solution almost feels... kinda pointless in its current state. if the battery runs low, you either have to plug in a cable or stop using it to put it onto the charging area. it's pretty much a wireless mouse with a fancy base station and all it does is eliminate the need to plug in a cable when you're done using your PC. until someone develops a Qi-enabled mouse pad with a huge charging zone, Logitech's system seems superior because it actually wirelessly* charges your mouse without restricting usage.

Thanks for your review; it helped with my decision. The Corsair is nice, but I already have a Qi charger for my phone and it seems kind of pointless to get a separate charging mouse pad. I feel that if I got the Corsair, I would probably just use my phone pad and keep my existing mouse pad. The lack of guidance on the Qi seems to be an design issue. Same problem I have for with a lot of Qi chargers for phones. I got a Qi charger with dual-coils and grips so I know there to put my phone. This seems some kind of feedback needed for the Corsair. I ended up getting the Logitech. I'm not a fan of proprietary tech, but so far my experience has been very good. I can game a couple hours and when I'm done the battery level stays up there and the next day it's charged up again. I don't need to remember to move the mouse to a specific location. I also like the soft mouse pad. However I'm not like the G903 very much; seems a bit front heavy.

I am not sure about the Corsair pad but we have had three of these. One was a replacement by Logitech. The issue is that the Powerplay will generate EMF interference while in the charging state, as indicated by the White LED on the pad receiver. I have the G903 Mouse, G910 Keyboard, and the Powerplay. I also use a Logitech MX Master 3 and Performance MX for productivity most of the time. I noticed the mouse cursor while using any other wireless mouse like the MX Master 3 or Performance MX was jittering, and I could not control it while the Powerplay was in the charge state!
As soon as the charge state ended or I unplugged the Powerplay, the cursor would return to normal. As soon as the Powerplay returned to the charging state, the cursor would become erratic again! I also noticed the G903 generated a jittery mouse cursor while the Powerplay was in a charged state. It was not as bad as when using the MXM3, and I could select items, but the cursor was jittering until the charge state ended.
So Logitech sent me a replacement Powerplay, and it had the same issue! Because I use my productivity Logitech mice the most, I would unplug the Powerplay pad to prevent the problem from occurring. When I wanted to game and use the G903 mouse, I would plug the Powerplay back in.
Fast forward a few months, and I started to play Elden Ring on PC using an Xbox controller. I noticed intermittent issues with menu control. When trying to select or scroll through a menu using the Xbox controller, I could not choose anything, and it would jump around! At first, I thought this was a new game patch issue, but it continued to occur, and then I noticed the game was jittering slightly only on the monitor I was playing Elden Ring. When this issue remained after several patches, I discovered the Powerplay was causing the problem when it was in a charge state! Like the mice, once I disconnected the Powerplay USB cable or stopped charging, the issue would disappear.
I connected the USB connection directly to my desktop and other USB ports, but the issue persists. All device Firmware and G-Hub software are up to date. I even purchased a third Powerplay pad from BestBuy, hoping Logitech may have changed something, but the issue continues even on the newest Powerplay. The Powerplay produces some EMF that impacts other wireless devices, speakers, and monitors. I am not sure how the Powerplay is affecting my monitor. Still, it is only occurring on the monitor I am playing Elden Ring on, leading me to conclude the interface is coming through the Xbox controller and maybe producing micro character movement, which looks like screen jittering on my monitor.
I have contacted Logitech again regarding this issue. I have not seen many reviewers reporting this, but I believe this is because most owners only use a Logitech G Mouse, so they do not know the impact on other wireless devices. However, there are a few reviewers who, like me, use other wireless devices and are experiencing the same issue.
Edit: I have noticed my Panasonic wireless home phone has had interference for some time now. This wasn't always the case and If I move away from my desk with the Powerplay it goes away! It just occurred to me that the Powerplay might also be impacting this phone. Sure enough, if I unplug the Powerplay mouse pad all my home phone interference goes away!
There is a Powerplay Charging Enable option in the G Hub Powerplay options section that will only work with Powerplay Firmware 7.1.11. G Hub will NOT update the Powerplay Firmware through the built-in update process, and you have to do this manually to update the Fireware to 7.1.11 to enable this option! With no help from Logitech support, I think I figured out a fix.
You have to use the Logitech POWERPLAY Wireless Charging System Update Tool under downloads for the Powerplay device to actually update the Powerplay Firmware to version 7.1.11 to get the option to disable. Powerplay Charging! You can now disable Powerplay Charging until required, and it will not impact other devices. I am still checking this works and will update later. Good luck.

I've just picked up the G703 and the Power Play recently, I would've liked the QI charging in the Power Play to charge my phone, but I don't need it, and I just came from a M65 Corsair which the buttons wore out on (cosmetically), so I couldn't give Corsair another go straight away. I'm an old fan of the Logitech G7, I had 2, so it's great to go back to Logitech with these products.

In the Corsair software you can enable a battery status icon for the system tray. But It should have been on by default, and its not easy to find in the settings. It shows only low, medium, high, but that is better than having to open cue to see the status. Also the dark core mouse doesn't support lighting link to match other corsair rgb accessories.

Have had the logitech 703 with the powerplay mat for 2 years now and absolutely love it. The ability to absolutely never have to even think about my mouse charging is incredible. They just REALLY need to make a bigger pad. Double the size and i'll play $200 for it. gogo

I purchased the Corsair pad before the Logitech was available. While working or gaming i have my phone sitting on the QI charger so when i'm done, i pick up my fully charged phone and replace it with my mouse. I've never run out of charge in either of my devices when doing this. I've also had issues some issues with my corsair mouse scroll wheel failing multiple times. So by using the corsair pad, i'm free to use another mouse form another brand. The Logitech concept is cool. But the corsair is way more versatile and flexible.

Powerplay is a charging circuit under a logitech mousepad with the cloth being the G240 and the hard being the G440. You can put other mousepads on the circuit and the charging system will still work.

Most likely no. I'm not an expert in how both system works, but judging from the fact that the corsair charger knows whether your mice is aligned perfectly with charging point or not, that means there is some kind of communication between the mice and the charger. If the protocol between 2 devices don't match, most likely it won't charge.

Wireless mouses with cables crossing the desk... what's the point?
The only thing they have to do is use standard NFC on the mouses, make a charging mat big enough for your phone, mouse, smartwatch or whatever that you can put where the monitor is and that's it. You can use the mouse anywhere across the desk, use whatever mouse pad you want, any size, and when battery is low at night just place it where your phone is charging...

What if you just get the Corsair mouse and use a standard Qi charger next to your mousepad? It could be either a stand, a flat one or even a lamp with a built-in charger. You might even be able to stick a small Qi charger under your mousepad. You get more flexibility with this option, although it's not as nice as the mouse being charged while playing. I also don't understand why the Razer version doesn't at least include optional batteries, because you might want to take the mouse with you at some point.

I bought the dark core and I love the way it feels, but die to it being bulky pressing the extra buttons intended for your thumb requires adjustments, and then those 2 at the top. So I ended up trying the steel series 600 being that it's much smaller and I like it, but as a wired. Mouse I ran into an issue I've never encountered and that is that it will go unresponsive leading to me dying while gaming and this has been within a week of having it so today I will go pick up a g703, and return the steel series mouse.

The side buttons on the dark core are so bad. It's nearly impossible to use all 3 buttons because of the arrangement. Also, the forward and back are a rocker, so they can't both register at once if you need that (if you can even physically make that work due to the middle button being in the way).

If I forget to charge it? No big deal it last 5-7 days on average. So with the sale price of $65 for the mouse and the $15 on the charging mat/pad/stand thing, I have a wireless mouse that I never have to plug in for a grand total of $80. Vs a G502 light speed for $100+ power play for $115 on amazon right now coming out to $215. Almost 250% more money.

it seems like corair's concept would be better if it wasn't implemented in the mousepad. Give me just a small rectangle to place the mouse on while charging and a dongle to charge other usb devices with it. It isn't any less convenient placing the mouse on a small rectangle next to the mousepad. And when the mousepad wears out, you won't need to replace the charger. And then there is increased portability, want a wireless charger for your phone when traveling? Well, you can take the dongle and the charger.

since qi works because of induction, you could teoretically try placing a soft mousepad over it and it should work just fine, for the charging does not work through physical contact but rather on a similar to a magnetic field thingy. I have a question doe. Could you charge a phone using the corsair mousepad? because i would buy it just for the sake of a convenient charger that takes technically no space.
