In Ancient and Medieval times, purple was so expensive that few people could use it and it was considered by romans a royal symbol. During byzantine times, being "born in the purple" means that you born in the royal family because only the emperor could use it.
What I mean is that purple is a perfect color for Kazuya because it fits pretty well his persona. He is like a roman emperor.

Yeah, it does come off looking goofy. But, Devil Kazuya’s design definitely screams Devilman to me. (Besides him most likely being inspired by Vegeta in some way.)
