We need a sequel on the Power Jerk! What makes it more interesting (imo) is that people aren't setting WRs using the power clean, but they sure are using the power jerk (Tian Tao, Kakhi, etc.)

In french there is a distinction between power clean ("épaulé puissance") and tall clean ("épaulé debout"), the former being a clean without the tip toe leaving the ground (regardless the depth of the squat) and the latter being a clean with at most a quarter squat (regardless of what your feets are doing). So technically combinations such as "power tall clean" exist.
👏👏 That's an awesome video . I think most people enjoy the power clean, which is basically like hitting a punching bag full power .Most of the time no the best way to win the fight, but it feels freaking awesome 😂.
I thought the history/definition bit was a little on the long side but found everything else in this video to be awesome info and produced with the usual phenomenal ATG quality. Dave you are a total legend, thank you and please make more of these!!
At Go Heavy several years ago Mark Cameron said Steve Reeves had cleaned 275 in a kneeling position; up till the time Cameron posted his remarks, they were all ridiculing Reeves as a "mere bodybuilder." Scott Norton, famous as the only man to ever "flash" down the six foot seven inch 460 pound Cleve Dean, who had giant hands, did a 211kg behind neck press at the Colorado Springs Olympic training facility. That suggests a possible kneeling position clean of bodyweight for Norton, 360 pounds! Alexeev with his 521 pound exaggerated layback cheating "press" wasn't close to Norton in actual pressing power.
Such a confusing term because "power" implies extra effort, whereas receiving the bar high doesn't always mean extra effort. Just go to some class at a local gym like body pump for example. They do clean and press, and no they don't do full squat cleans, but "power" ones. With lighter weights of course. I feel like "high/low" clean is a better description.
The most important part of the power clean is the part where you can't slow down the movement, which is the jumping, getting under and receiving the bar. In the normal clean, the most important part is the front squat, which can be slowed down.
Andrei Aryamnov doesn't believe in doing power cleans. He does full cleans, and pulls and for power and/or to deload, full cleans from blocks (not hang). And you'd never feel he needs power cleans.

19:50 I was going to comment exactly this. Everyone should do power cleans for this very reason. 😏

This announcer has the most dramatic voice ever!!!! It’s the voice of a 225kg power cleaner!
It was even more impressive because until 1964 they were all no contact power cleans!!!

What a great video.
A definition I’ve heard (iirc it was from garage strength), power clean: a clean in which the during a squat, the knees don’t go past 90 degrees.

I am 53 years old now. And after hitting the gym for several years, I fell in love with lifting.
I have to be honest.

If China does it, it's good. That's my philosophy.
I’ve stolen so many of their techniques to use and it has only benefited my training.
