I love this. Currently have a back squat of 405lbs at 192lbs in my early 40s. I can on a good day power clean 245lbs for 2 to 3 single reps. I struggle to full clean anything more than that due to issues getting under the bar fast enough. My FS is around 305-315 right now.
One of the best training videos I've seen by Dane. Like the pre and post warm up exercises and a great explanation of the techniques for the clean /press. Can't wait to get stuck in on my next training session.
Since May I've had a goal to take my power clean from 195lbs to 225lbs. I'm using Peak Strength 2.0 and confirm that the app reinforces what Dane is preaching here. Peak has me on pace to get me there before 2025
Awesome video! Now we need a guide on How to snatch 100kg PS: I'm new to Olympic Lifting. I've been using Peak Strength for around 2 months now and I'm loving it. However, I'm a newbie and my technique sucks. I power more than full clean or snatch. Can you make a video to adress this issue or the fear of pulling under the bar in full lifts.?
60% thing is cool, never heard that. At my strongest I was squatting 365 and could power clean 245, so right in that range. I’m a big believer getting really good at full cleans will lead to a good power clean.
Love your content. How high should the hurdles be for the plyo part? I don’t have hurdles but want to work on plyo more. My last 1rm back squat was 350 and after my workout yesterday tried power cleans and got to 195 before I didn’t feel comfortable catching that weight. I have previous back issues, bulging discs.
Thank you for this. My power clean is like 80% of my squat so clearly it’s time to focus on leg strength. Idk why but my legs suck at growth compared to my push and pull
Nice video! My power clean is roughly the same as my squat clean, around 220lbs. In my case I think it’s because my back is quite strong so I can accelerate the bar with the pull but struggle to get underneath it quickly, any drill you can think of?
I’m not completely getting from the vid what is diff b/t power and full clean. I thought power clean specifically does not include the full front squat…. but now not sure. Anyone care to clarify this?
Is this actually like a difficult milestone? I don't weightlift or even like understand the technique and I still used to do sets of like 4 with 155 just as a general power movement haha. Can only squat mid 300s
I do not do full depth squats mainly only partials or half squats , I have done a 200kg partial but best clean from floor is 95 what would you recommend , more heavy depth squats or pull from boxes (100-400m sprinter)
@@edvinkarlsson9368 realistically the only people that would care are powerlifters watching a competition with a brand of plates they don't use but I can see what you mean. I should have threw in a 😂
Ouch - this really landed: as I can Power 225 lbs you posit I should get close to 300 Squat Clean while my lifetime PR, hit only once, is 242 lbs. So either my technique or my squat strength or both are way off. 😢
So I've been in a conundrum. I power clean 205 lbs max, maybe potentially even 215 on a good day. My front squat max is def not more than 225. My back squat to parallel is maybe 265/275, Ass to grass it's def lower than that. Based on his numbers my power clean is way too strong, but I have no idea why, what's my strength? Obviously I lack in the back squat dept, and I'm adamantly working on that. but I hit this 205 wall and haven't been able to make progress for a couple of month now, even though my Back squat has def increased by like 20lbs or maybe more (haven't tested)
Power Clean 225. Get the proper coaching on your technique early on and then train power cleans two times a week with around five days in between sessions?
Don't know sht about power cleans, so I am coming from an ignorant place. That said, what the hell does most of that warm up have to do with the actual movements? Like walking on a PVC roller, WHY!? How does that prepare you to power clean?
Should I use different percentages as a finely aged rugby player? I'm not quite as springy as I used to be. My above knee power clean to push press is 140, my clean is 130, 180 fs, 225 bs, 180bp. 🫠
Watching this to drop my power clean from 250 to 225
😂
Every like=1 squat❤

This is right about where I'm stuck at and I desperately want to learn how to advance.
Wow man strong as shit

Anything else similar to this we can help you with?
Could you make a video on how a sprinter should organize thier week?like how many days should you sprint and how many days should you lift?

Bro I wish I had your knowledge and experience ❤ could help a lot of people with that. Great work 👍
Great video. I’ve really learned so much from your channel, thanks very much.
Power cleans are the best!
Haha love the Seedman burn. Totally agree with everything on this video.

This is actually pretty normal for beginners to power more than they can full clean or snatch
I learned how to power clean 225 lbs over a decade ago because my overhead press kept going up and I didn't have a squat rack to rack the bar
This is what I need!
60% thing is cool, never heard that. At my strongest I was squatting 365 and could power clean 245, so right in that range. I’m a big believer getting really good at full cleans will lead to a good power clean.
I just realized plyo is completely missing from my training...I should add that.

Yo you were a strength coach for samoa?? Crazy!!!
I am able to power clean 95kg wihile back squating 140kg
Would you recommend front squatting for strength too or just focusing on a big back squat
BOTH
If your goal is to improve your cleans, front squats will have more benefit.
Is there a chance that there will be some discount for the peak strength app?
Thank you for this. My power clean is like 80% of my squat so clearly it’s time to focus on leg strength. Idk why but my legs suck at growth compared to my push and pull

I am 65 I have mobility issues, I can do parallel squats, what would be the squat ratio?
Can pc 240 after 1.5 years of peak strength on the road to 270!
So my clean is really close to my power clean, 265 vs 245. What would you recommend I work on to get my clean up?
Coach. What’s your height and weight? You look like a big human in the videos.
I’m not completely getting from the vid what is diff b/t power and full clean. I thought power clean specifically does not include the full front squat…. but now not sure. Anyone care to clarify this?
Tryna Power clean 225 with one arm now

Partial squat are far better than depth squat for sprinter speed 100m or 400

Well if you're using blue plates are you sure it's going to be 225 when it could be 223 or even 222?
Who cares man, you’re getting that 225 is what matters, if you’re able to

Power clean 240lbs, full clean 265lbs. Yep, not super pretty. I’ve always struggled with squat strength. While pulling has always come more easily.

I squatted 315lbs but for the life of me I cant get pass 155lbs on power clean
Power Clean 225. Get the proper coaching on your technique early on and then train power cleans two times a week with around five days in between sessions?
Me sitting over here with a 280lbs Bench and 315lbs squat but can only power clean 155lbs
It's all in the hips, think about how fast 155 will move in the air if you deadlift 5 plates.
PR/current back-425/385 clean-230/?
wait so he says you need to back squat 175 kg? to be able to power clean that?
🏋
I power cleaned 225 when my back squat max was only 120 kg what does that mean then
squat more I think (if u want idk)
Can squat 250kg but I don’t have the mobility to do a power clean 😢😅
I would’ve done busted my ass on the PVC pipe and wouldn’t be able to power clean. Lol.
My power clean is 230 but by squat kinda sucks
80%?!!!! Yikes 😭 I'm squatting 160 1RM but my clean is stuck at 90kg 😅
Full clean should be about 80% of your back squat max... Haha yeah...

I can power clean 285-295, but I can only full clean 255-265, any tips? BS 405, FS 315
Improve technique
Stop doing powers and only do full cleans.
^
Lol standard AND metric. Metric is standard everywhere else in the world
I can power 100 :>
Who has a 175 KG back squat? What happens if back squat is 50KG? 😂
7:54 I'm thinking if someone's Pclean is 225 there's no chance at full cleaning 300. A 225 Pclean will only yield a 265lbs full clean. (respectfully)
